The Salvation Army USA donation pick up

I scheduled a donation pickup online. Date was scheduled for 6 Jul 2017 in 20166 zip code area.

The items were one armoire and one dresser. Items were placed below awning on garage side of the house.

On pick-up day, it rained heavily all day and I was advised I was the last pickup for the day. When pick-up personnel arrived, they advised me that they could not take the items since it had rained all day on them. I stated it was under the awning and they informed me they could not take the items since they were "wet" . They also said they took photos and sent to office. (I would like to point out I had taped a large piece of paper to the armoire that was entirely dry even after SA workers left.

I accepted their statement without argument. However, seconds later, I was told

SA worker: "You are our last pickup, we can haul it for you".
Me: "really? you can?"
SA worker: "Yes, what can you do for us?"
I was speechless for a few seconds..
Me: "Money?, I have no money to give you, thank you"

I placed a call to the dispatch number and advised of the above conversation. I was then transferred to Mr Lawrence Wood. I informed him of what happened and he was professional and courteous and advised he would talk to employees in question.

I opted to make the donation in order to pay it forward to someone in need, not for someone to try and take advantage of me.

The Salvation Army USA community center

There is a sign on the door saying no children under 6 can not enter the gym. African American kids get turned away but in many occasions a Latin Ameriacan do not get turned away. There is a video of the situation of not getting turned away and there two signs one when u check in and one when you enter the gym. No one stop them. The kid was even running around the whole place downstairs around the basketball courts and again upstairs with the work out equipment and over the rails. I do not appreciate the racist behavior of this establishment. Having the rule is fine but can everybody in every race follow the rules. When ask about the rule the front desk worker say that's the rule but clearly let in the kid under 5years old. I have a video of them turning away the African American family with there kid but acting blind with the Latin American kid. This is crazy will take it to the media to show what racist company you have!

The Salvation Army USA help! mchenry store has no air conditioning.

For years now the Mchenry salvation army store on Elm street has been in bad shape. It is now July with the weather being in the upper 80's. Inside the store it is so hot that you immediately start to sweat. The air conditioning is not working again. Why must a customer be subjected to these conditions. Do you really expect people to spend anytime in this store to go through aisles of items that are not in any order. Going thru racks of clothes that are not grouped in by size. I personally can not do it. I have heard other people complain that they felt like they were going to pass out from the heat. And they would have to leave. The other day when they had the back doors open and the front doors open I could smell their truck exhaust fumes inside in the back part of the store. Wait until someone does pass out and gets hurt. And what about the employees? I told them I would complain about the heat and they thanked me. It has to be unbearable to spend all day there. This is beyond Ridiculous. Fix the Air Conditioning. And then maybe customers will stay to shop. Until then I will take my business like others have done down to the Goodwill Store.

The Salvation Army USA the major and his wife

My daughter in law, attends the Salvation Army Church in New Port Richey on Ridge Road...the Major there at first was very nice and helpful, but in the past few weeks His wife and Him have become rude and showing not God like feelings to her and her three children...this Sunday morning my daughter in law called me in tears because my granddaughter did act up at church, but the Major told my daughter in law she was a bad Mother and needed to get herself and those out of control children some help. My grandchildren are ADHD children and their mother is bipolar and gets very upset by people being mean to her...She was at church and got insulted by a person that is suppose to be there to help and guide her...i have also seen children that are in the care there be grabbed and jerked around during their summer programs...i just feel if a person that is there to help those lost...why would they hurt them emotionally and damage there already troubled soul...perhaps they don't need to be there...my grandchildren are in basketball and the summer program and enjoy both, they struggle but are learning and want to comtinue...i would love to see them continue there, but the Major and His wife need to also learn and be there to help people find there ways...

The Salvation Army USA pick-up services

6-30-17 really! Your idiot driver arrives and simply says I am not picking up your things cuz there a flies flying around and then leaves. And then lies. He was simply rude and a complete creep. Spoke to glen and he tried to talk over me. That is unacceptable. I am giving away $1000 of items and seriously your incompetent idiot employees tell me no... A stove - antique cabinets, bed frames, clothes for the homeless, complete working stereo and many more items. Who would say no to free items when they turn around and sell it anyways and make a profit. Who in the world says no to something they profit on. I have to say I will never visit a store and I will be sure to tell my 100's of friends to never ever go to a salvation army store or use them. This was unacceptable and I was totally mis-treated. Shame on you. Next I will be sending a letter to headquarters. I won't stop now. I will get my things picked up from an organization who appreciates things.

The Salvation Army USA donation pickup

I am extremely displeased with the behavior of your staff. Today I attempted to donate a china cabinet, end tables, and a sectional sofa to the salvation army. My interaction with your pickup team was diplorable. They were very rude, nasty and plain lazy. They lied to me and told me your organization doesn't accept the above items. When clearly on your website you do.in addition they claimed my items were "filthy" and "damaged." all of my donations are in excellent use because I understand they will be used for families in need. I will never donate to the salvation army ever again. The pick up team was very lazy. Claiming that their truck wasn't "big" enough and that "they're not professional movers." saying anything to avoid taking the merchandise. Also your staff complained about the 12 steps they had to walk up to reach my home, as if I was a problem. I scheduled this pick up 1 month ago and I am disgusted at the way I was treated and my home was talked about. As you can see in my photo below, the truck is empty. Your staff is not a good representation of the positive organization which you claim to be. I have already spoken to my coworkers, friends and family and told them never to use your organization for any donations. I can only hope that this organization improves on their customer relations.

The Salvation Army USA discrimination

Just left the store located at 74-76 Salem NH, I came to pick up 2 file cabinets that had been purchased on Thursday June 22, 2017.

As we were loading the cabinets in the car we needed to buy rope to close the back door, there was nobe at the store so I proceeded to buy 3 ties. As I walked to the pick up area, the assistant manager (name tag indicated her name is Sue) approached me and asked what was I doing there, I told her I was loading the items I paid for in the truck and that I previously showed her the receipt of purchase, she asked what the ties were for and gave me a nasty look. I told her what the ties were for was not her business and asked her if she thought I stole them. She replied saying that I had no idea what people steals in their store. This offended me a lot, specially after buying 64 dollars worth of items. It offended me a lot because not everyone is the same and you cannot judge an individual based on someone elses actions and told her the approach she had towards me was unprofessional and extremely discriminatory. All she needed to do was to ask for a receipt (which I had and handed it to her l) instead of assuming I stole something from their store. Im deeply offended and saddened at how I was treated, specially in front of my pastor who drove one hour and a half to help me pick up my items.

The Salvation Army USA customer service

Everytime I enter Salvation Army on 5700 State Street here in Saginaw employees never greet you. Thee only time you encounter any managers or employees if their following you around like you're stealing. I feel so insulted! Retail therapy is my escape I'm a hard-working individual and it's sad that you're treated as if you are a convict instead of a customer. Customer service is horrible if you have a question you literally have to go in back through curtains to ask because Every employee is in back with only one ringing up customers! They need to treat every customer with fairly 😔

The Salvation Army USA electronics

I walked into your thrift store at 320 N. State Road 7 (441), Margate, FL 33063, they kept ignoring me until I stepped up to the register to assertively ask about donation pick-ups. I also asked if it mattered that I was on the 2nd floor and was told that it does not matter. The clerk handed me a Salvation Army card with the phone number to call and schedule pick-ups. The card says - THE SALVATION ARMY - WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS! YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED - CALL [protected] FOR A FREE FAST PICK-UP OF YOUR USABLE, GENTLY USED DONATIONS OF: FURNITURE • HOUSEHOLD GOODS • ELECTRONICS • CLOTHING • APPLIANCES(LARGE & SMALL) • COLLECTOR ITEMS ~WE ALSO PICK UP CARS & BOATS... THANK YOU FOR HELPING US HELP OTHERS!

When I called on 06/10/2017 to schedule the pick-up Charlie took my call and was more interested in whether or not my DONATION was of any value for you to sell! He also said that you do not collect large items from any location above ground floor level unless there's an elevator - because of liability.

When your drivers arrived for the scheduled pick-up on 06/24/2017 they refused to collect my perfectly working television that could be DONATED (not sold!) - even though I explained that I'd arranged for someone to help me move it down the stairs for them.

I find this baffling because if I was an elderly donor in a townhouse and the large (working, usable, not damaged) item that I'm DONATING (not dumping) was on the 2nd floor, your "charity" ends at my front door.

When I called the toll-free number on your website [protected]) I was re-directed right back to square one. Charlie answered when I was transferred back to the local [protected], I asked for Chris or Troy - Troy got on the line and tried to read a script to me - then he have me a non-working number to call [protected]) after I asked for information about where I can lodge a complaint.

They (your representatives) were very "uncharitable" and clueless about how to direct anyone to this website source or the right number to call for proper directions. You leave donors hanging to figure out on their own what they're supposed to do with donations that you refuse to collect because you can't sell it!

The whole process was very upsetting and they kept telling me to calm down. Seems your reps are in the habit of tickling the balls of a bull to the point of frustration, expecting it to smile instead of kicking. I understand the ARC (rehab) process and thoroughly respect that effort. However, when you run it like this - where someone in need must PAY! it's more of a scam than a charity.

The Salvation Army USA high point nc salvation army center of hope family shelter

I and my family were staying at the High Point NC Salvation Army Center Of Hope which its name contradicts it's self Because This place is not a center of hope for Families It caters to Single Women witch children out of wed lock and Lesbian women It is very discriminating against Family yet it says that it is a Christian Organization which it is not The director tried to make passes at my wife and when he had no chance he asked me to leave so that my wife and children would be alone but my wife refused out of fear of what he might do and we all left which leads us to believe that he has sexual relations with the Single women and staff being that its no men that work in the Family Shelter side And he only hires Single women who were at one time in the Shelter We came to the Shelter under the impression that it would be a safe haven for Families which consists of Father Mother and children by Gods yet we found it to be Discriminating against The family structure My car was vandalized by the Single women with Children out of wed lock and nothing was done My children even had something thrown at them by a single homeless women with no children and nothing happened this place is horrible and Whatever Christian Organization donates there i believe it should have its funding cut they only feed the residents Expired products And they receive$10, 000 a day per person one must ask where does the funding go I believe in the directors pocket Who drives a Brand new truck why the food they give the Residents has bugs in it I would believe that with $10, 000 a day per person they should be able to provide fresh grocerys for each member of each family

The Salvation Army USA unethical behavior by staff accepting merchandise

On 6/21/2017 I brought 7 boxes of housewares, books, glass wear and collectible hammered aluminum pieces, some nice antiques. The clerk was rude and dug through the boxes, rejecting all but one, the one with antique glass in it. She told me to get the rest of it out of the store. Donation slip #27997, 2505 Broadway, Baker City, OR. 97814. Possible name of clerk is Stacy We___, Because this was the 3rd time this has happened, I felt compelled to report it to you. While I was there, a man brought in a stack of beautiful hand turned wooden bowls, quite large and valuable. Those were hustled off to the side room where they sort things. A few months ago, my daughter-in-law found a nice watercolor picture and was carrying it around with her while she browsed. Another clerk actually grabbed it out of her hands and said she couldn't have it. I don't think the people in charge of the store are giving you a fair deal. They seem to glean the better items for themselves, and while I understand the cost of sending unusable goods to the landfill, I believe this Stacy rejected no less than 700.00 worth of household items. I am getting married and combining homes. We have a houseful of great stuff that will have to go somewhere and it wont be Salvation Army in Baker City. I may gather more information and write again. In the mean time, I hope someone higher up in the organization can check it out. Take your own boxes of donations in there and see what happens.

The Salvation Army USA store policy

shopping in you 23 and Vandyke store Shelby Michigan.Purchased 3 little boys clothing an end table and a farm kitchen table.I brought the end table to the front because it was light.I payed for my purchases, as i was walking out to load the end table in my truck and pull to the front so I could load the table a lady approached and said" the end table is mine", as I already purchased it I made no comment. The lady that rang me up said" oh no I have to call a manager." I wasn't to concerned because I had payed for the items. The manager came up and preceded to cancel the purchase of the end table. I said what are you doing she said she the other lady had a ticket.Your store policy apparently is to make an announcement to see if any one had one of the tickets.Which your cashier did not do.I seen the one ticket, I did not realize there was two.So all your policies except for the one were she canceled my purchase was not followed.I cancelled the rest of the my purchase.I will not return.I am cleaning out two households and had been dropping everything off at salvation army.I also will not be doing that.
Although I'm sure you won't miss all my donations or my shopping at your store.Everyone I can speak to of your terrible policy of taking a purchase away from a customer I will. I suffered for their mistakes of not following YOUR POLICIES.

The Salvation Army USA pickup of used furniture denied-graylake, il 6-19-17

Truck driver deemed furniture "not in good enough shape for sa purposes"

Sleeper sofa used but functional - we advised personnel at time of pickup scheduling that it was a sleeper sofa

Both recliners used, but functional

At time of scheduling, no mention by personnel that the drivers would be determining if "good enough" - what snobs! If someone had no chairs or sofa then these items would be welcomed; instead they will be put in the local landfill!

I will not be donating to your "red bucket" campaign in the future and will be sure to pass my dissatisfaction along to all that I come in contact with

Shame on all of you and your organization.

The Salvation Army USA staff member using drugs at work

The complaint i am submitting is fact...but you dont have to take my word for it. The other staff members here, pastor Tom, Brad and Jennifer will also tell you it is true if they were actually asked about this. Dana Kaminski is the manager at Salvatiin Army Hope Center in stevens Point, Wisconsin. She uses drugs at work, is constantly taking pain pills even though she has no prescription and is illegal, is higher than a kite at work on a daily basis, and also drivers her two foster children to and from daycare while high. This has also been witnessed by staff. This alone is child endangerment. She is a complete mess, slurred speach, impaired motor skills. Im copying this complaint as of tuesday showing that its been reported and reporting this to child protective services as well as channel 2, 5 and 11 news as well as The Portage County Press Gazette if this complaint is not taken seriously. I have 11 people, including staff here that will be honest about this staff member and what im saying is truth. This is suppose to be a Christian based homeless shelter and a safe haven.

The Salvation Army USA pick up service

Today, June 2, 2017, the Salvation Army came to pick up several pieces of furniture I had arranged for them to take. I did everything they asked - I called and scheduled the time and described the pieces. They did not ask many questions when I was on the phone with them nor did they ask for the pictures I could have sent them. When the people arrived, they refused to take the two biggest pieces that I had described accurately on the phone. Apparently, they only take furniture pieces that are perfect and they don't tell you that before they show up. It was a monumental waste of my time.
