For background with respect to this complaint, please enter "Ridge Meadows Music and Lessons" into the Complaints Board's search engine where I've written of my concerns with respect to parents unknowingly exposing their children to Peter T. Bowen (aka Pete Bowen) also of Maple Ridge.
Mr. Bowen has an extensive criminal history that involved violence toward women and children for the past 20+ years that he has failed to disclose to the parents of the children he is now proposing to teach violin/fiddle/guitar lessons to. He has variously been charged and convicted of assault, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, harassment, uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, impaired driving and breach of probation. He has served time in various correctional centres and most recently, in September of 2007, emerged from Fraser Regional Correctional Centre after serving time for yet another assault. The charges against him in BC, can be found on the Ministry of Attorney General's website at the following link BUT it should be noted that this is ONLY his record for BC and he has far more convictions in Alberta and Ontario. Shortly (within days) of his release from Fraser Correctional Centre in September of 2007, he met his current girlfriend in Maple Ridge and moved in with her. Her sister, Barbara Angulo, operates The Learning Corner Daycare, a few blocks away from where Mr. Bowen and his girlfriend reside in Maple Ridge.

he obtained Ms. Angulo's "professional testimonial" which you will find at:

Her testimonial for him states as follows:
"We were extremely fortunate to have Peter Bowen come to our centre to play the violin for the children. Peter was patient and did a wonderful job keeping the children focused and involved. They were excited and enthralled by his performance! Peter also performs for us at our annual Christmas concerts. His professionalism and talent make it a night to remember. He is extremely entertaining for children and adults alike. If you are considering Peter for any of your music needs, look no further.

Upon reading this "professional testimonial", Ms. Angulo was thereafter provided with the information regarding Mr. Bowen's violent past and cautioned about (1) Exposing her daycare charges to Mr. Bowen, and (2) providing supportive endorsement of Mr. Bowen's intention to hide his criminal record from public knowledge and particularly, from those who would be trusting him with their children. Ms. Angulo was also provided with the link to the Ministry of Attorney General website provided herein so that she could see for herself what Mr. Bowen's BC record contains. She was told that the public would be advised if she didn't take precautionary steps and revoke her testimonial. She has knowingly refused to do so and remained unresponsive to the opportunity to immunize her charges from Mr. Bowen's presence.
I find Ms. Angulo's apparent allegiance to her sister and her sister's boyfriend, both unconscionable and reckless since the safety of children in her care should, ALWAYS and UNFAILINGLY, be her priority. I am sure the parents of the children in her care would want to be informed of the risks inherent in this situation and be able to make their own decisions in this regard. I know I certainly would.
To Ms. Angulo's credit, as of this date, her "professional testimonial" for Peter T. Bowen and Ridge Meadows Music and Lessons of Maple Ridge, BC, Canada, has now (FINALLY AFTER TWO MONTHS!) been removed. Copies of the original have, of course, been retained to prove the validity of my claim that the "professional testimonial" from Ms. Angulo existed.
I wish I could believe that Ms. Angulo will now actually immunize her daycare charges from Mr. Bowen's (potentially volatile) presence but her reluctance to withdraw her testimonial until the making of these complaints indicates that parents need to be very concerned about their childrens' continuing exposure to Mr. Bowen and her priorities where their childrens' safety is concerned.

I hope you do because it's so very important to speak up for what you believe is right. Nothing ever gets better if you don't tell people what's on your mind. Best of luck to you!
To anyone else who might see this, it's an excellent reminder that kids have enough "problems" without grownups adding to them. Every single one of them have the right to be safe and free from harm.

How sad to find Ms. Angulo's comment on a petition site this morning which is asking for this website to be "stopped". She states, "I have been the victim of a bitter ex-wife and this needs to be stopped. She is trying to damage my business."
Number one... I am not Mr. Bowen's "ex-wife"... lol
Number two... She is not a "victim". She was told about Mr. Bowen's extensive criminal record regarding violence against women and children. She was provided with a copy of his BC criminal record. She KNOWS that what has been stated here is completely TRUE. She was told that if she didn't take the steps to immunize her daycare charges from exposure to someone with such a past, that the public would be warned.
Number three... I am not "bitter". I am "deeply concerned" that anyone would knowingly overlook a situation of potential harm to children being placed in her care and then, try to hide the fact that she has CHOSEN to do so. Is this not comparative to a dog trying to hide his mess by furiously kicking his back feet against the carpet?
I am all for sites of this nature as long as the TRUTH is being exposed and I will tell you why so that my agenda is clear to ANYONE who cares to look. Not long ago, a distantly-related young woman and her beautiful baby son were stabbed to death by a guy who had just gotten out of jail. This young woman had NO WAY of knowing that the man had a substantial background of criminal violence. She had NO WARNING! This is NOT a rare occurence... It is all too common and the only reason it goes on is because people like Ms. Angulo CHOOSE their allegiance to family (in this case, her sister's boyfriend) over decent moral values and respect for other people's right to full disclosure of any information that concerns their children.
Ms. Angulo if you're reading this... You KNOW you've had ample evidence of Mr. Bowen's past. You KNOW that you were also given a great deal of time to pull back on your unworthy and deceptive support of Mr. Bowen's access to children. If YOUR choices damage your business, hopefully you will establish some priorities where the children entrusted to your care are concerned. That you're upset that you can't simply "hide your mess" is unfortunate and says a lot about your continuing refusal to place those children at the top of your priorities list. You will ALWAYS be judged by the company you keep and in your case, it is critical that you exercise some prudence.
It's time we stopped "hiding" dangerous sociopathic people and THAT is why these comments have been posted. It is the "silence" of those who know the true nature of these harmful people that heavily contributes to a sociopath's ability to fly beneath the radar. I am BREAKING THE SILENCE and I thank God for sites like these!
Very true Concerned Momma. It's outrageous for her to think she has the right to make that decision for the parents of the children placed in her care.

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I think that it is absolutely dastardly of any child care giver to NOT check criminal records before allowing them around the children in their care. After reading the reports about Peter, he would be lucky to be allowed around a monkey. Children are precious, and should be treated as such! She should have her license pulled!
