I lived in an apartment owned by The Eberly Company of Beverly Hills. This apartment was subpar considering the outrageous amount of money I was paying, but I had no other choice because I moved from another state and I needed an apartment close to work. I lived in the same unit for 27 months and the experience I have had with the Eberly Company has been the most horrible one of my whole life.

First of all, they didn't give me my deposit back because they claim that the carpet was damaged, but they ignored the fact that the whole building was infested by rats bigger than cats. I reported, we reported (with other tenants) this several times to the management but they turned a deaf ear. The rats destroyed part of the carpet and we, tenants, had to pay astronomical amounts of money for the extermination.

It was a living nightmare for months, the rats even destroyed the doors. The swimming pool was closed three times because of poor hygenical conditions. You couldn't sleep with the windows open because the trash cans were emptied once in a blue moon and all the garbage got rotten. It was a very unsafe place as even homeless use to hang out nearby.

They advertised a specific cable company and they took a percentage out of it.

All in all, that was the worst place to live and they sell it like it's a luxurious apartment complex. Beware. They have a building called Courtyard on Whitsett Avenue in North Hollywood. They won't tell you that there are roaches, rats, the swimming pool can't be used because of hygiene or lack thereof.

The absolute WORST management company I have ever experienced. Please beware of them. If we knew they were so bad we never would have rented with them. You are just a number to them and the only thing they care about is the bottom line.

The staff is the RUDEST and least accommodating bunch I have seen. Only small things get taken care of right away, but anything else they could not be bothered with. We have been accused numerous times of things we did not do: instead of asking they go on to straight out accusal: "It has come to our attention you are doing_______, we trust that you will take care of it" The owner has also accused me of being a liar, taking his employee's side over mine. Now, I think this is unacceptable to outright accuse me of being a liar when I have no history of ever doing so.

Oh, and let me say something about the employees! The office staff is atrocious. So rude, condescending and apathetic. Calling into the office or going there is like getting slapped in the face. They treat you like [censor] on the bottom of their shoe.

I have never lived at a residence where the management expected you to pay for their services and they give you practically nothing in terms of actual service.

No help in emergency situations, rude and obnoxious, make ZERO effort to make the tenant happy and on top of that treat you like a lying ingrate that should be happy for the horrible service they provide.

I would NEVER recommend them to my worst enemy.

P.S I am forced to give them a star, but they don't even deserve that.
Also, you may have noticed that lately there have been a few 4 or 5 star ratings for them on different websites. I'm very skeptical of those. The owner herself has stated on the internet that they are scanning the reviews and I would not be surprised if they are trying to cover themselves with some fraudulent positive reviews to make up for the atrocious standing they have on most websites. I wish we checked those before we moved in.

Totally disagree! I've lived at my building for 3 years now and have always been taken care of by The Eberly Company. They are always friendly and handle any maintenance issue quickly. I've even referred some of my friends to their buildings and they are all VERY happy.

Also, no cable company would ever pay a percentage of your bill to a manager. I'm sure they can get some sort of manager discount for referring tenants, but a cable company would NEVER pay your manager a percentage of your cable bill.

I must say that this company is really great to work with. Our manager is wonderful and anytime I have had to deal with The Eberly Company directly, they have always been professional and have satisfied my request promptly.

Wow, I can't believe you had that experience! I have been renting from Eberly for 4 1/2 years, just moved out and got my deposit, and was looking for a rating site to say how GREAT they were! From the day I moved in, everything was taken care of. They got my deposit back to me in less than two weeks, and it only had on it what I had discussed with the manager at my walk through. I can't believe you had such a different experience. Maybe you didn't pay your rent on time, or you were getting evicted or causing trouble...I don't know. But there's definitely something missing to this story.

I lived in Hollywood and the manager changed the locks three days before I was due to move out and I still had a few belongings there. She claimed she thought the unit was abandoned and lost my phone number so she could not get a hold of me? When it was time for the walk through she said everything checked out fine and no deductions would be taken from my deposit. When I finally got my check back they deducted three hundred and fifty for misc. cleaning fees and what not. I am going to report them to the Apartment Association of greater Los Angeles and I will most likely take them to small claims over this entire ordeal. Please, save yourself the hassle and don't rent an apt with this company.
