The Bethany Group AKA Bethany Management has been in trouble for over 9 months. The company was supposed to be purchased in April of last year and as a corporate employee, we were given false promises of bonuses and great income potential if we supported them and did their criminal acts. I am not asking for sympathy - I just want to see something good come from all the heartache that many have experienced.

As of July/August, the accountants stopped refunding deposits, stopped paying out the account payable checks, and did not send out any of the monies for contract work, including insurance repairs. They were receiving the deposits to send out the monies, but Greg, Jeff and Jason have been living it up and traveling the world. Jeff drives the Bentley and Greg drives a Maybach (worth $450K) & Jason has a beautiful Mercedes also. Please understand they did lay off a few employees, but they have not cut back their excessiveness and are very corrupt. We didn't have a Christmas party and it was the 2nd year in a row that we were not paid any bonuses. You know things are bad when the VP of Finance and the Controller leave within 30 days.

It is a scary situation because all of us as employees have had 4 pay periods delayed and we aren't being given any guarantees that we will get paid on Friday. I guess the reason I am posting is to encourage all parties to do what they need to do to take care of themselves. As an employee, I need to find a job as quickly as possible. As a vendor, you need to file a lien and or lawsuit. As a resident, you need to complain to the Attorney Generals office and know that you won't receive your deposit back because they have already spent it to pay a phone bill or an electric bill. Calling and talking to any person that is still working with the company won't help you because we are in the dark and we have been given instructions to lie and get you off the phone. We have caller ID and we can see who is on the phone & have been given permission not to take your calls.

I don't know how to get the information to the FBI or IRS, but criminal charges should be filed. At least we should get recognized for working in such a hostile environment and being stressed out constantly. Oh wait - Our HR Division is handled by Jeff Silverman's brother. A few of the key principals make Bernard Matoff look like an angel. These gentlemen need to be behind bars for the crimes they have committed and there are plenty of employees that would assist a federal investigation.

I just hope people get smart and get on with their lives & not do any business with this organization.

I was a Bethany Group employee in Virginia. It's now been 3 years since they went under. Still no word if we'll ever get paid for the 5-6 weeks we worked without pay during the phony "recapitilization".

I hope there's justice in this case - unfortunately, 3 years later, there doesn't appear to be any.

I used to be a Bethany Group Employee about two years ago. I worked out of Arizona @ a property called Valencia Park Apartment. I originally moved in as a tenant...the property manager knew i was going to be an employee soon, but she had me sign a regular lease that way i could qualify for all the specials when i moved in. I of course was fine with this if it gave me some extras. ...after living there for two weeks i came back into the office to sign an Employee lease.. i was working at one of the sister properties called The Crosswinds. The property were i lived was sooo run down and full of sketchy people. My car was vandalized and my husbands truck was broken into only 2 weeks after moving in...due to being an employee of the company i stressed my issues to the property manager who was also an employee of the Bethany Group. She was frustrated with me and said " too bad, so sad, i can't do anything for you... make a police report." but we all know that wont get me anywhere. So i decided as being an employee and being on a month to month lease agreement, to move out. I was only living there for about one and half months. I put in my 30 day notice to vacate and left. The manager was very upset at me...so she decided to get even with me. She put me in collections for my original lease term of 9 months. Since she did this to me i have not been able to get another job leasing apartments, cuz we all know if you owe money to an apartment community you can get another job leasing unit its payed for . I also can't rent anywhere with that on my credit. So i'am forced to live with family and be unemployed. it has been over 2 years since this women has destroyed my life.

I contacted the credit beuro and they actually said that she put me into collections wrongfully and i don't owe this money...i said "i know, is there anything you can do to help me?" they said they would have to contact they're clients and explain that this is an error. But i dont know who they are going to contact because We also all know that the Bethany Group has went out of business. so what am i left to do? I can either pay the 8, 000.00 dollars of wrong debt or suffer with it on my credit for another 5 years until it adventually falls off my credit. Im soooooo glad this company is not in business any more. They are a horrible, cruel, selfish company to work for. Im sooo sorry to all the others that haven't been paided they're money and any one else that this company has hurt. I feel for you.

3/5/09: We are a small, family owned cleaning company in San Antonio, TX. The Bethany Group owes us over $6, 000 for cleans done at Braesview and La Jolla apartments in San Antonio. We have a Net 30 day pay and they obviously wanted to schedule as many as possible within that 30 day time span KNOWING they had no intention on paying us. We had worked with in the past, and didn't have an issue with being paid, therefore we TRUSTED we would get our invoices paid. We have tried almost a year to collect with phone calls, emails, faxes, collection agencies, liens etc. We have been lied to, redirected to many other numbers and voice mails with no responses. The only person we did get info from was ELYSE EVANS, and she continued to give us the run around. As of yesterday, ELYSE claimed she has nothing to do with our issues and to forward all info to Irvine, CA office (which she knows darn well no longer exists)! We are also angry that the apt managers KNEW what was transpiring but still continued to call us for services, lie to us continually and make excuses as to why we weren't getting paid. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. We are an AMERICAN business that has loss a tremendous amount of money for our small business AND our crew members whom worked so hard to completed these jobs and never got compensated for them! We are now seeking a lawyer to move forward with a suit. ANYONE READING THIS PLEASE PLEASE BE PERSISTENT IN GETTING PAID YOUR INVOICES, SALARIES, ETC. AND TAKE IT UP LEGALLY! DONT LET THESE JERKS GET AWAY WITH YOUR MONEY! JUSTICE SOMETIMES TAKES TIME, BUT LET'S PRAY THESE FANCY CARS AND HOMES ARE TAKEN FROM THESE UNETHICAL BUSINESS MEN/WOMEN AND THEY GET A JUMPSUIT AND A JAIL CELL NUMBER IN REPLACEMENT!

I am in a Bethany group property in Texas & we are having the same issues as everyone else. Lawn un kept, sewer break with raw sewage coming out, office staff gone, phones going stright to a busy signal, and no one to tell us anything about what is going on. I found this article while searching the web. This was a decent property for the price & location, but it has all gone to pot...I am a single grandparent with no money lying around to pick up and move. Besides my grandchildren are in school, and I dont want to disrupt their lives ...UGH!

I am a former resident of a property owned by these clowns. I guess you get what you pay for! I needed somewhere to move and needed to pay as little as possible to get there. I ended up moving into this places that was newly rennovated... Door Hinges were painted over, wall plates painted over, new bathroom and new kitchen cabinets, but the cabinets were hung wrong a faux wood pattern laminate floor did not make it much better until the roaches came crawling! I swear they were hiding good until i got settled. I know you'd think i brought them but this was not the fact. I knew i was not going to resign a lease when i saw the best leasing agents in the business leave. My word! I moved out in December and its March... still no word on a deposit! I know most people say they NEED the money, but right now its a matter of principle. Funds should be deposited in Escrow which means they would not be comingled with operation capital. At the rate we are going, I feel like i am going to have to go to courts to get my funds! The owners have no clue how to run a sustainable business.

PLEASE let this be a lesson to all of you aspiring business owners:
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE! I would much rather be in business making what i made last year than out of business bankrupt! Pretentous ### are flossing their luxury cars while their employees are not getting paid! WTF! i'd rather tell my employees that their next full year of rent is on the house and apologize for the inconvience than have them leaving and taking the best possible tenants with them.

it IS all true. countless apartment communities that have employees working day and night for a company that can't pay them. People that live at these places suffer and come down on the employees. Regionals and VP's try to keep everyone together and can't even afford to be at the employees office because they dont get paid. the vps and regionals are great peopole but they look like a joke, the employees who are loyal and hard working look like a joke and vendors who mean most are treated like they are a joke.

security deposits are not being refunded and havent for a very long time and its breaking laws in many states, instead people at the corporate office are paying utilities with them or you residents are paying some of the payroll that never gets paid on time. Vendors have leins and lawsuits and many companies have gone under because bethany didn't pay them. Employees have missed christmas this year, are losing homes, cars and racking back credit to get by, getting pay day loans and barrowing from friends. These are people who work hard and dont get paid. The people that live at the apartments suffer without pest control, stress of losing utilities at any time, run down living situation, cant evict bad payers so people just live there for free because Bethan has no legal help and is open to be walked on.

Its unfair to vendors, all employees in all positions that continue to try to remain loyal and is bad for residents.

Bethany needs to give their employees the courtesy of being honest and just go under so everyone at least knows.

Your going to be sued in a class action suit as all employees come against you for all you have done to them and their families, the strain of the work situation and emotional stress and for all the times you have violated the labor laws. "Recapitalize"? What a joke! Go ahead and go under we will find you or go ahead and recapitalize this way we can sue you for everything you get when you do. Lawyers are standing by and Bethany you are screwed! Just like you screwed us.

People that live at these properties just print all the stuff you find on the internet and then move out. They can't sue you anyway, they have no legal help. And you bring all your stuff to court and lets see if a judge who knows all the lawsuits against them will actually let them win. Get out while you can.

AND DONT HATE BETHANY EMPLOYEES! Trust me they are there because they are afraid. The economy is bad right now and they are trying to get out too. Bethany employees should just leave and let Bethany worry about apartment communities that have no staff. Work for free or for late paychecks that "this time you may not get" ?

Cant anyone stand up for this wrong? Dont be afraid, trust god. if the owner Greg tells you to have faith then walk out the door and tell him you have faith too. how can you reap anything if you continue to show up for work in such a bad business company anyway? i did and i found work two days later. Funny huh?

Dont hate bethany employees they are scared and they know its wrong. But employees just get out now while you can and residents and vendors you better get out and get your claims in before bethany crumbles for good.

god help you and get out!

Bethany Group SUCKS! There is no other word for it. I am a former employee of this poor excuse for a company and everything above is absolutely true. The company has been paying their own employees late for over THREE MONTHS now with no end in site to their shenanigans. Which is why I, and many others have quit. But I am still waiting on my final pay because once again, their payroll is late! The worst mistake I ever made in my life was going to work for this co. and moving into one of their apartment complexes. Because now I'm stuck. Since they aren't paying us I have no money to move someplace else. Oh yeah, and get this...they are still asking employees who live on-site to pay their rent or else! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO PAY OUR RENT YOU F##KING IDIOTS when you HAVEN'T PAID US YET?!

I hope you're reading this Greg, Jeff and Justin. If I still had access to the company email I would send this to you myself. You all are a bunch of ###S and I hope that every one of you ends up filing bankruptcy because of all the harm you have caused so many innocent people out here. And as for your stupid company, I gotta tell ya...THE RECAPITALIZATION you all keep droning on about IS NOT COMING! Get over your stupid dreams, little boys, and grow up and file bankruptcy so that maybe some of the MANY companies and employees you owe money to will get paid!

Everything you said is so very true...Vendors make sure you get a lien on any money owed. Previous residents, they have laws in your state to get your security deposit refunded. To all employees still working because you have not a choice hang in there, and hopefully you will find a new job in this bad market very soon.
