TexanPlus Health Care automated survey

In general, I am pleased with the services of TexanPlus. I just received a survey, however, that had a computer-generated voice. It asked me about general health issues and problems. It also said it was a Medicare-required annual survey (which I have never received before and I've been on Medicare for years!).

The problem with the survey is in two specific questions:
1. It asked: "Who is the current president of the United States: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, or Barack Obama?" What? It IS 2019 and Donald Trump has been president for over two years now! After the fifth time it asked this question, I finally said "skip" and it did, thankfully.

2. It asked: "What language did I prefer to speak in? English, Spanish, or something else?" My reply was "English, we DO live in the United States!" It took the answer but I hope that someone heard the response because, honestly, shouldn't any American citizen receiving Medicare speak English? I mean, if they entered the country the LEGAL way, anyway!

TexanPlus Health Care denial of healthcare services

Texan Plus is the worst insurance available. You receive better care with absolutely anyone else.
This is the third time I've attempted my complaint. The Texas Insurance Board is also receiving a complaint about you.
My Mother (Elvia Witt DOB 10/28/31) has requested that I complain about her horrible insurance. As POA and daughter of a completely independent person, I begged her to change back to straight Medicare for future use. Texas Plus is only good when it's not used. In October if this year she had an Ischemic Stroke and was denied Acute Inpatient Rehab which she has clear Medical necessity which was recorded and given to you and Appealed twice. The last appeal didn't even get a response.
Since the stroke she has continued living alone but gave up driving. Last week she fell and has a fractured hip. Surgery was completed last Wednesday and as expected a denial was received yesterday. I started an Apoeal yesterday. She needs this Acute Rehab right now without further delay.
If she had not been denied her right and need for Rehab in October she would not be in this position now. Without Acute Rehab her independence will be tragically limited. This is a real problem with Texan Plus. I've been a nurse for over thirty years and a Case Manager/Denials Manager for over twenty. Do not insult me with Medical Necussity or Medicare Regulations, I've tauhht many classss on them. You have received clear records this time as well as in October.
Here's hoping your mother is not treated in the same agreeous manner that you have treated mine.
At this time you will need to overturn the denial for Inpatient Acute Rehab.
Otherwise I'm delighted to spread the word about Texan Plus to any media willing to print or listen. As the board looks into not only my complaint but others, hopefully they will curb your behavior or better yet close your doors.

I'm sorry about your mother. We are going through this RIGHT NOW (2/2/2020). Our mother who is also 88 yrs old, suffered an Ischemic Stroke last week. Mom is not walking and the doctor is recommending rehab at a facility, but at this time, Texan Plus is denying the doctors' recommendation. After reading all the complaints, I am not hopeful that we will get approved.

TexanPlus Health Care earns 88% level of Trustworthiness

Excellent Trust Notice: TexanPlus Health Care near-perfect at 88% trust. Use with confidence, maintaining usual caution.

  • TexanPlus Health Care's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. The support team lacks customer service skills, training, and resources, resulting in only 0% of 0 complaints being resolved.
  • Website's registrar is popular among scammers, it means that a significant number of scammers have used that registrar to register domain names for their fraudulent websites. This can indicate that the registrar has lax verification processes, making it easier for scammers to register domains without providing accurate information.
  • Universal-american-medicare.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The universal-american-medicare.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
  • TexanPlus Health Care protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.

TexanPlus Health Care coverage and customer service

I have cancer and tried to get into M. D. Anderson to find out they do not accept TexanPlus! Web site sucks as it does not have a list network hospitals. Called TexanPlus and got a woman in the Philipines! I asked for an American and she transferred me to Idaho. She could not tell me anything so I hung up. I live 40 minutes from Houston. It infuriates me that I can not reach someone local who would probably know something to help me out.

The web site leaves a lot to be desired. I feel they should have a list of participating hospitals in their network.

This is absolutely the worst insurance I have ever seen in my life! My family member had Pancreatic cancer. There were always obstacles concerning chemo treatments, specific meds, and arranging ambulance transportation. The customer service reps are notorious for placing you on hold for an indefinite amount of time. Upon their return to your call, you're still clueless about your specific concerns. DO NOT USE TEXAN PLUS if you want to LIVE!

Texan Plus is notorious for being the worst Medicare replacement available. I’ve been a Case Manager and nurse for many years. They deny additional Acute services across the board and some families don’t know to appeal the decision, not that it will change anything. I got one am reporting them to the Texas Insurance Board. This is the only way they will be disciplined for withholding patients Medicate Beni fits to line their own pockets. Each denial is money in the bank to them. This agreegous behavior must be stopped. Do not use them. Switch to straight Medicare to get your full benefits.

TexanPlus Health Care Walker

My mother's doctor faxed/submitted a prescription to Texanplus for a walker in December 2016. She didn't expect to wait 6 months for the product to arrive. When it did arrive it was Fedexed, no technician was available for proper instruction and it was too tall. She called to request a shorter walker which will probably take another 6 months. I dont understand the Texanplus system. It would be faster and less complicated if customer could personally take the prescription to the medical supply and get evaluated by a technician.

TexanPlus Health Care Patient care and family care

Texan plus sucks!
If you can at all afford anything else, do so. My mother had surgery on her hand. She was sent home to recuperate. She lives with me, my husband and 2 sons. She had a reaction to the pain meds and was hallucinating. We called dr and we're told to go to er. She was admitted. We requested that she be discharged to a skilled nursing facility temporarily. She is a fall risk, cannot dress herself, she cannot get herself to the bathroom or "tend to her needs" once there. So I have to stay up at night to take care of all these things. In the nights after surgery I was up until 4 every night. My husband would wait to go into work so I could nap. I was barely functional for my family. That was why we asked for her to be discharged to skilled nursing until she could do these things better. They have an appeal process.
They send me a form. I fill it out and send it back.In 30 days we will have an answer! So, she will be discharged to home and I will get to be a zombie for my family. Thank you for nothing!

TexanPlus Health Care Primary care physician

This is my first year and my last. The Doctor that was assigned to me is no longer with Texan plus so therefore I am without a Doctor. When I requested a new Doctor their was no one of quality in my area; so I had to take what was available. When I called to request a new PCP I had to go through several people before I was able to speak to Hezekiak ( I believe that how to spell his first name) who I believe was able to handle the problem can't tell for sure until, I get the results. The representatives were all very courteous but limited. I do not put blame on them. The System is not working. I also request a hard copy of the Doctor Director two ago and have received nothing.

TexanPlus Health Care Health insurance

I have been seeing a cardiologist, who is out of their network; for 5 1/2 years. For the past 4 days i have been attempting to obtain permission from texan plus to see him again for an annual check up.The staff are mostly rude and have zero authority not even the supervisors.I have been getting the run around being passed around from one incompetant person to another and provided with conflicting information. Clearly no one has any interest in assisting me.In obtaining continuity of this critical issue which is potentially a life or death matter.I need an out of net work referral.

TexanPlus Health Care Annoying phone calls, which I can't stop

I started to get phone calls from Texan Plus HMO. They automated voice informed me to renew my prescription and not forget to take my medicine. I tried to stop these phone calls, but nothing helped. I’m really annoyed with their phone calls. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Let’s share views about this website and maybe someone will help me to stop these calls.

TexanPlus Health Care Denial of Coverage

A relative with a spinal injury is in the process of being kicked into a custodial nursing home by TexanPlus HMO. They are refusing the rehabilitative therapy that I am told by the hospital social worker would be approved without question by traditional Medicare. Without that rehabilitation, he won't be able to live at home and will be committed to a nursing home - WHICH TAKES HIM OFF TEXANPLUS' BOOKS since custodial care is not covered.

Clearly, the bottom line has trumped health care.

Three different occasions Texanplus agents faxed approval form Dr. Mischke's office for him to sign and fax back to TexanPlus agents the approval form to fill my medication. I also have problems with staff being rude and being Impolite.

TexanPlus Health Care No satisfactory service

I called the [protected] number and got some young girl or woman that could not speak enlish where I could understand her. I told her I needed help getting a walker and she asked me for my medicines. I gave them to her and the mg dosages as well. I still did not get any kind of help from her regarding a walker. I want to speak to someone in the good old USA not some foreigner that cannot understand me and I can't understand them.

All I can say is you better get used to non english speaking people. They are changing our language day by day. Look in the news paper at the jobs must be bilingual. There are foreigners coming in to America by the dozens. Pretty soon it want be called America anymore it will be called. Mexamerica. And then let the mexicans and the arabs fight over the land. Sorry I just get mad because our government is letting America go to hell.

TexanPlus Health Care I am out of medicine because of them

Since April 9th through the 22nd, we have followed every request of the Insurance company, the pharmacist, and doctor and have yet to receive the medicine needed. This all happened because of a prior auth medicare part d was filed and it should have been a prior auth for medicare part B. The insurance company receieved the prior auth today; I am out of medicine and they still say it will be 48 hours before they will receive the prior auth. This is due to their lack of knowledge and incompetency. I should not have to deal with this issue. I should have my medicine to keep me healthy and help me live.

For example, there are prescription charges where there were none last year i.e. $12.07 co-pay for 30 Amoxicillin (you can buy them for less without insurance). I wished I had known before January 1st so that I could switch in December 2018. I certainly won't be renewing in 2019.

Most Doctors will not work with TexanPlus because the are very bad. This is try for many rehab centers as well. You are FAR BETTER OFF with straight medicare.

I have read the complaints on this page and have experienced a version of almost every one of them!
