So mysteriously, a debit showed up on my account of $200 that was unauthorized. I didn't catch it until I went to the ATM and my available balance was around $30. So I called them up and explained that there must have been an unauthorized withdrawl/transaction on my account, and that someone may have stolen my information/card number.

Here is where the fun begins! So they re-issued a debit card for me and I got a new number/pin, etc. However, they needed to "investigate" to see if they could find out what had happened. Meanwhile, I'm out $200 + a OD fee, and have no available spending cash because they wouldn't do anything for me immediately. And they were rather rude on the phone as well, showing no real concern or care about what had happened.

TWO WEEKS LATER, I finally am reimbursed the $200 plus the OD fee. Turns out it was a BANK ERROR and that the wrong account was debited. I understand that people make mistakes, but TWO WEEKS! That's pretty ridiculous to track down missing money. Needless to say, I was irate and switched banks immediately.

I"m never going to use TD Bank again. I had started a $100 savings account..they took out $1 and then continuously ripped off $15 a month till it dwindled to nothing and said I started having overdraft Fee! They know this works to get your money...they figured it's not enough for you to complain about.

They will steal you blind.

Don't use them!

On May 28, 2012 I went to the Leslie St. and York Mills branch of TD Bank and deposited thirteen, one hundred dollar bills ($1, 300.00). The next day I received notice from TD Bank that I had deposited six hundred fifty ($650.00).
*
I went to TD Bank and asked if I could see the video since I am sure that they are mistaken. I was not able to see the video. I subsequently called the branch and asked to speak with the manager but was told he was busy and that he would return my call. The manager did not return my call.
*
On July 9th, 2012 I received a call from TD Customer Care and was told that the investigation revealed that I had only deposited $650 and not the $1300 I claim. I argued that that was not correct and that I know how exactly much I deposited (because this money was from my friend, when my friend gave the money, I counted 2 times), when deposited to the green machine, I counted it three times prior to making the deposit. I asked again to speak to the manager and again I was told that he is busy but would return my call. He did not return the call.
*
A few days later, around the end of June. I called the branch again and asked to see the video. I was now told that I require a letter from the TD Bank outlining the result of the investigation.
*
On July 2nd, 2012 I called the bank again and requested the letter outlining the result of the investigation and they said they would send it the next day.
*
On July 7th, 2012 I had not received the letter so I called and asked if they had sent the letter because I need to take it to the branch so I can see the video. They told me they sent a letter to me on July 3rd.
*
On July 12th, 2012 I had still not received the letter so I called again to ask if they had sent the letter and I was told that they sent it on July 9th, 2012.
*
On July 18th, 2012 I had still not received the letter so I called TD and was told by a manager there that a memo or some communication would be written so that I would not require a letter to go to the next step which presumably would be, viewing the video of the transaction.
*
After this phone call, I went Leslie St. & York Mills Rd TD Bank told the branch manager that I wanted to take the investigation to the next level. She gave me a brochure with an email address and told me I could write a letter of request.
On July 25th, 2012, I sent a letter to the email address provided by the branch manager. I waited until August, 15th, 2012 but no one contacted me. I called TD about going to the next step of the investigation and they told me the case was closed. I asked the case closed should let me know, why did not inform me, please write a letter to me, I want a letter from your TD Bank.
*
On Aug 20th, I received *a letter from TD Bank. This is the only letter I received from TD about this matter and this letter is attached.
*
My goal is this:
*
-********* Simply let me see the video of the transaction. A few minutes of time and the matter will be resolved. I can’t understand what the problem is. If the bank is so confident in their claim that I deposited only $650 then the video will quickly reveal the truth *for all to see.
*
Unless they have something to hide, I don’t see any reason for them to refuse this request.

My friend told me: do not go to court, because TD have a big group lawyers, it is difficult for me to win the case. But I am not afraid it. I want find out how can hundred dollar bills changed to fifty dollar bills and who stole the money.

First I would like to say that Pain, you a an a-hole. I have been in upper management and it's amazing how fast you can fall if your company closes or anything else happens. You should be more respectful or keep you mouth shut and your hands off the keyboard!

I too have a problem with TD. My wife and I opened our accounts with this bank, as our credit union didn't have good hours or a lot of locations. Within a week, small fees started popping up for all kinds of little things. Then, when they had their computer issues, all of my scheduled payments were not honored, and the computer did not know our balance, so it bounced my rent and vehicle payments. Then, they had the gall to charge me $35.00 per transaction, plus a $35.00 fee per day for "continuous overdraft". We were most certainly NOT in overdraft, and we had the money in the account to cover our bills, until the fees kept tacking on. Next thing you know, my rent check was not honored, and my development charged me a 100 dollar bounced check fee, a 10% late fee, and a 35.00 administrative fee. I explained my situation to the manager at the branch where I opened the account, and they did NOTHING for me; even when they did refund $170 fees from faulty OD charges, they made it seem like they were doing me a favor!

Now, I take 800 dollars in the branch, and use that towards my certified check for rent (plus the 4.00 fee). After this transaction, I calculated my balance to be around 1400. When I looked at my receipt, it showed a balance of over 6000! I immediately questioned this, and the teller, with the manager right there, told me it was from my line of credit. I informed them that I did not have a line of credit with them. They responded that it looks like it was there from when I had my old account with Commerce Bank a couple of years ago. I asked to have that noted in the computer, that I still had a line of credit, so I could see it online.

Fast forward two weeks, to two days ago. I got a call on my cell phone from a guy who said he worked in the "back office" and he is investigating how money from a Florida account got linked to mine. I used to live in Florida, but did not use Commerce there. I was a victim of ID theft while there, so I wasn't sure where he was going with this.

At that time, he said he would get back to me, with what is going on. For two days, I did not hear from ANYONE. Today, I went to my local office, and asked for my account to be closed, as I was sick of all the fees, computer glitches, and headaches, so I already moved to another bank. The CSR and Manager told me my accounts would be closed, but I was -1200! I said that was impossible, and they need to find out what is going on!

When I got home today, my wife, who used to work in the banking industry, asked for the closed account receipt. When I said they never gave me one, she matter-of-factly said "well then, they didn't close the account."

I called customer service to confirm the closure, and get the receipt, when I was told that not only was my account not closed, it "was impossible to close the account in this state". I was FURIOUS, and wanted to speak to whoever this guy was that was "doing an investigation" and find out why he charged me, and why he didn't call me to state his intentions! The customer service rep on the phone was no help, so I insisted on speaking to her boss.

When he (Chris) got on the phone, I immediately became aware of his attitude. He said I was responsible for this money. After almost an hour on the phone, yelling at each other, he began to realize that the bank itself had made a lot of errors in charging me fees, not refunding fees from the computer glitch, and now this. I was assured that in three days (Monday) I would get a call from his boss's boss to figure out how to handle the past and present situations. I will keep you all posted, but word for the people considering TD; do not go here! Go somewhere (anywhere) else!

This has been a most humiliating experience for all involved. The customers are livid because of money disappearing and reappearing, transactions not posting, fees, fees, and more fees, and the list goes on. The amount of time it is taking to rectify this situation is INEXCUSABLE! All customers should be compensated on some level, besides having fees returned. I had to put a stop payment on my rent check, and pay in cash because the bank not even for more than an hour at a time could maintain the correct balance in my account. We withdrew all of our funds and let the accounts zero out for 24 hours as not to have any more discrepencies. Needless to say now I'm going to have to reimburse my landlord the return check fee for his bank. Humiliating! If we didn't have so much attached to these accounts that we used to be able to depend on, we would have closed them in a heartbeat! Not for nothing, but we opened a TD account to get out of Commerce, because we had nothing but drama with them. KINDA' IRONIC, ISN'T IT!

This bank has numerous complaints in regards to how it treats it's customers and its scams. It can't even credit a deposit for the same day that it is made at a main office ! Their OD fees are way above everyone else and they think of nothing to"steal" your whole paycheck because a check that cleared put the account into - $0.10.Yup you got it neg. 10 cents.OD fee of $35.00 because went below 0.00 and another $35.00 because the account was over drawn and so forth till the whole check of $350.00 was gone.Think this is a lie? It happened to a friend of mine.
In regards to Pain---- apparently you won't fully understand and appreciate the scope of horror about this until you're sitting on the side of the road without a job(either due to injury, the boss just fired you or the company just closed etc) the collectors are banging on your door and the bank just issued you a forclosure notice. Then you're sitting there trying to figure out where you're going to live and how you're going to eat because either the insurance company refused to honor your claim or the company refused to pay your unemployment claim.(they now do this too)Or how about going from $1000.00 per week for the last 5 years to present day $220.00? It's always amazing how shallow some people can be.
Beware everyone------TD Bank or TD BankNorth IS a RIPOFF !

I'm sorry but I have to say that Pain, count your blessings that you can save and make enough money to be able to save. Dont put people down that live paycheck to paycheck. Just because you make decent money and are probably some big corporate mongrel don't make you any better than the rest. Its just that you make more money and thats it. The fact that you are on here belittling people shows me what kind of person you truly are. You can have all the money in the world and be a total creep, so tell me is that a good thing? You remind me of one of these people that go to work collect a fat paycheck for doing nothing but sitting there while the rest work their butts off for the small salary they receive. To make the remarks that you did you are defiantly some big wig that gets paid a fat salary for doing nothing. I know your kind all to well. Oh and by the way I do work 5 days a week dont drink and do live paycheck to paycheck. Does that make me a bad person no actually it makes me a better person because I work for every cent I make and I have compassion for others. I know what its like to struggle. Im sure your one of those little rich kids that mommy and daddy spoiled and you landed a great job through your daddy or a business that your daddy bought for you, oh yes I know your kind well. Maybe there is a God and you will get laid off lose everything and see what it is like to lose your entire worth. You really need to take a long hard look at yourself you really are one ugly human being.

Even if that were to happen, its why you don't use your credit cards for everyday purchases, only real emergencies. Or purchases you don't want to make with a ton of cash. But if you go everywhere and use your credit and then don't pay the full balance at the end of the month you are obviously living beyond your means. First you have to realize its not the banks fault, its some fraudster out there who is trying to steal your money and the bank has to go through its investigation period to return your cash or every yahoo who wants 200 dollars will go in claiming they have been 'robbed' Bank didn't rob him at all. That's the only reason I was harsh on him.

ANd really, those of society who are living paycheck to paycheck, next time you enter a "variety store' or go out to eat or buy alcohol, think why it is you are this way, and blame yourself not others...you are indulging in your wants and then hope karma gets back at those who are frugile and living within their means and paying their bills.

I hope one day karma bites you back. One day you might only have $200 in your account then you can see how the rest of us live.

The fact that you only had 230 dollars speaks volumes about your financial situation, had the same thing happen to me, just moved over some cash from my savings and a week or so later got my money back, only people to whom 200 dollars is everything is this a reason to switch a bank. The, 'rather rude' remark is because how dare someone steal your entire life's worth...
