Letter to TD Bank - SC 3/7/2012 I am writing you today to document that I never signed up for over draft protection on my debit card; my wife and I have requested that this be removed from our account multiple times; I removed this protection from my online account on 3/5/2012; I am requesting that you stop charging me overdraft fees; I am seeking...

TD Bank overdraft fees

On February 17 I had in the bank $353 at the beginning of the day. During that day I made 5 purchases totaling $78 and balance was $275. At the end of same day I withdrew cash $280. This was last transaction. Appears this $280 caused my account to overdraft $5. But when I took out money from the bank it showed as if I had more than $280. Since $280 cause overdraft of $5 I was charged $35. Four days later, on February 21 TDBank charged me another $35 for other 5 purchases (total $175), that I made on February 17 telling me because on 2/21 I didn't have enough money for them. Well, on 2/17 I had and it doesn't matter. Don't forget, before I withdrew $280 I had available balance of $78. TDBand claims, I was charged OD fees because I didn't have available money on 2/21 when payments were posted but they don't want to understand, I didn't have available another $78 because they already deducted that money from my account on 2/17. I called another bank and asked following question: If when purchase is authorized I have available funds and it is deducted from my balance, can I be charged OD if I don't have money on the day they are posted? and I was told, NO, I only pay OD fee if money wasn't there when payment was authorized on 2/17. But TD bank doesn't want to understand it and tells me I had 6 OD while I had only one. They are crooks, and while they either don't know math or are trained to steal from you, they think you are stupid. I cannot wait when my tax return direct deposit comes in so I can close this account. I have been Citibank customer for 12 years and I have never had this problem with them. I had to open another account because there is no Citibank in NJ, but now I know, its better take a bus and go across Hudson to NYC than pay TDBank Crooks.

The staff here is stunningly incompetent! We have contacted the branch to pick up large amounts of cash as we are building a home and perfer to pay our vendors in cash and each time they have made a simple transaction a nightmare. They never have the cash when they say that they will and often act as they have no idea what we are talking about after we have called and been assured the funds would be available. They are the worst branch in our area. The manager is a boob and the entire branch deserves to be closed.

So, I logged into my online checking this morning to find $7 Service Charge. I searched through my account history and I've never been charged anything like that. So, I called their Customer Service, and the representative initially had no idea what that fee was or where it came from, she put me on hold for a few minutes and when she got back she told me that I got charged the 7 bucks for not maintaining the minimum daily balance. Well, I said, I don't remember last time when I had less than $300, let alone $100. Sir, she says, your minimum daily balance on this account is $750. So, me being me, I went to their website, searched back and forth for anything with $750 minimum balance, nothing, nada, zip... The lady had no problem refunding the fee, but, I'm planning on calling them again during business hours and officially complaining to someone who (hopefully) cares. I've had that account for about 11-12 years and never had a problem with it, but, now, I'm really considering looking someplace else to "store" my money. This just left a really, really bad taste in my mouth. So, unless someone is able to waive those silly fees for me, my accounts will be closed within weeks.

TD Bank refinance loan

TD Bank agents lure you in by telling you what a great re-finance mortgage candidate you are so that they can get your application, appraisal, and lien fees (actually my credit rating is very good, above 800). Then, they turn down your loan and keep the fees. So, it is a scam to keep bank employees, appraisers, and lien searchers in business. To add insult to injury, they put a lien against you (for a loan that you NEVER received from them because your loan was DENIED), so that you can't get a loan from a legitimate bank. VERY SLEAZY! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

We just had the same incident happen to us. Our credit scores are above 800 also, and have excellent Credit. TD Bank took 5 months, lost many of our submissions, and kept our fees.

Example...Asked multiple time for same documentation and delayed and delayed...then admitted their system was faulty...but the scammed us on the fees and kept them. Here is there office DONT USE THIS BANK...

TD Bank closed my account unilaterally

TD Sucks. I opened a personal account 10 days ago and they unilaterally closed it yesterday. I went to the branch today to collect my initial deposit and to know why they didn’t want my money. They told me they tried to call me to verify my SSN and address and I never picked the phone. The funny thing is that my phone never rang. I asked them which number they were dialing and they told me that, at this point, it didn’t make sense to give me the number they have in their records since the account was already closed.

After reading all this complains I just have to thank TD for closing my account unilaterally. I would never ever aproach them for any kind of business, they simply suck, and big time.

TD Bank refuse to pay us owed money

6 months ago we sent an official bank check through TD Bank to pay an out of state bill. Our check never reached it's destination and we waited the 90 days to fill out the appropriate paperwork so that our money would be credited back to us. After waiting 2 weeks we we're told the money was pending in our account upon waiting an additional 2 weeks the money was still pending. We then called the bank and they told us that they would instead send us a check. Another 2 weeks later NO check. We then went into the branch to address the situation and the bank manager Dotty gave us a TD Bank gift card claiming the full amount of money was on it. We went to the store only to find out there was NO money on the card. We went back to the bank and Dotty told us she would "investigate" the situation. 2 weeks later still no money we went back to the bank. Dotty no longer worked there so we started dealing with Donald the new bank manager. He has spent the last 3 weeks giving us a run around telling us to check the card daily to see if the money is on it. He has repeatedly told us that he is "doing all he can to help us" No longer wanting to deal with these crooks we called the OCC and Attorney General. We have been told by both companies that TD Bank does not feel they are responsible for replacing their own official bank checks. We now are leaving in the hands of the OCC and the Attorney General who both feel we rightfully deserve to get our money back. I would suggest avoiding a bank that would actually lie and play this many games to avoid giving you back your own money!

They had a class action suit filed against them and the customers won! For Personal accounts though, I wish they would do it for business accounts! Yesterday, I was literally "verbally attacked" and ganged up on by the asst. manager and the manager of the bank for questioning why I was enrolled in overdraft on my debit card when i didn't have to be! Long story but if they could play back the tape it was something out of a movie-people watching wouldn't believe it really happened in real life...shouting all my personal information across the entire bank!

TD Bank took money from me and never gave back

I was originally banking with Commerce Bank which was an awesome bank that got brought out by TD Bank.
When I received a letter from TD stating they where switching there system over I was little skeptic but, figured I had nothing to worry about.
I was wrong...for the two months after it switched over all of my paychecks where in the negative & never reimbursed.
They stole over three thousand dollars from me...they are the absolute worst bank ever!
Yes I switched banks & no longer bank with TD

TD Bank closed account

I closed my accounts with TD Bank on 9/2/11. However - TD Bank never actually closed the accounts and since then was charging me monthly maintenance fee which resulted in the account going negative. Without contacting me they reported me to Chex systems which in turn led to my accounts with other banks being shut down.

After hours of arguing with them they realized their mistakes and refunded the $50 payment I had to make. They have however been unwilling to retract the entry to Chex systems. This now puts me in a position where I am unable to open any bank accounts because of a TD Bank mistake in not closing the accounts!

I am in the boat as you. I got reported due to an overrun checking account by an amount of 48 USD. I was away when this happened and now unable to open a bank account because of this negative report. The harm caused by this report is well beyond the value owed. TD Bank just stop playing games with you customer that opted to pick you as a bank.

TD Bank absolute worst bankever!!!

TD Bank is the absolute worst bank ever. I would not recommend my worst enemy to this bank. I opened an account online. After all had been done and the account was declared opened, it says that they have the right to give your personal information to third party affiliates. It also stated that if you don't deposit money into the account after 90 days, the account would close but it did not say that even if you do not, they will still charge you (which they did). I only decided to not deposit any money and let the account close after it said that thing about them having the right to give your information out. I've had several calls from surveying telemarketers asking about TD Bank and I asked how they did get my information and the lady was scared to tell me. She had to go get her supervisor and he told me that he got my information from TD Bank.

Their customer service and the people at the actual bank, especially the Easley, SC (Calhoun Memorial Hwy location), are extremely rude. I hate everything about this bank.

It's no wonder that they need celebrities to endorse them. That's why they are sucking they customers dry. I guess they're trying to pay Regis and Kelly.

No I didn't get ANYTHING in the mail - the first thing I received was a letter on 11/4 stating that I owed $50.00. That was the first notification - when I called (right away upon receiving that letter) I was told I had already been reported to Chex systems!

I went into TD Bank today to ask if they would be willing to waive the Penny Arcade charge for my son's preschool who had collected for UNICEF and now needed to send the money in. TD Bank card closed fraudelent activity

I travel for my job and only took my TD Bank Debit Card with me. There was fraudlent activity on the card and they closed the card without me knowing. I droe 230 miles from PA to VA and pulled over after my meetings to get some gas at 10pm at night. The card declined. I called and found out they closed it without ever telling me. Thank goodness I had a $20 for emergencies.

Then when I called they said they closed it due to the activity. Ok. Great. But no one told me. Then they said that the purchase put my account in the negative (it was a purchase for 3 world seroes tickets thru ticketmaster) and that there was a $150 overdraft fee too, so it was over $1, 000 of my hard earned money gone.

They did know it was fraud because they were contacted by ticketmaster. When I called--oh I don't know...6 times...each customer service rep told me somthing different. They made me call ticketmaster to get a fax...even though they had confirmed it was fraud. Even though they had the phone #...so I spent 7 hours on the phone trying to get the information to the right people.

Bottom line. They wouldn't relesase the funds even after they had a fax from ticketmaster, even after I asked the surpervisior. All they said was I could wait 4 days for the funds to be released and fill out a complaint. Sorry TD. That's my money. YOU closed the card because it was fraud. YOU knew it was not my purchase...but you refused to release the funds..PLUS you want me to go to the bank and get a new card in 5 days when you will release the hold?

Hmmm...not with my money. I will be banking elsewhere.

TD Bank missing money?

In July I attempted to make a payment on my student loan that was late. The $300 payment was accidentally procured to the wrong account, and then it vanished into cyberspace. I have called the branch several times and have dealt with a bank employee that does not return my phone calls. I am frustrated that they don't know where they payment went and they don't return phone calls. Suggestions?

I had a chequing account w/ this branch. At the time I had no credit history and I applied for a secured visa. It came with a $500 limit and it cost me $650 which was put into a 2 year GIC. At the end of 2 years I went to cash out the GIC only to find that it was gone. Without my permission, my acceptance, or my signature it had been moved into my general chequing account 10 months earlier without notice. I spent a half hour in the office w/ the manager trying to get an explanation and the last thing I saId to her was, (I'll remember this forever) "So your telling me that you can do anything you want with my money and you don't need my permission"... and She said yes...And I took my business to VanCity Credit union that very day. Its been over 10 years now and the best banking decision I ever made.

TD Bank former carolina first customers newest victims of td bank

After banking with Carolina First Bank for over 10 years I was a little apprehensive of becoming a TD Bank customer but kept accounts open and decided to give it a chance. HUGE MISTAKE!
First TURN-OFF-TD Bank replaced every single employee that Carolina First had. I can't go to a single branch in town and find one person left from my former bank. That left a VERY sour taste in my mouth especially since the Carolina First Bank employees were much more friendly and knowledgeable.
Second TURN-OFF-Monthly service charges on accounts that were free with Carolina First for years. I know it's just a few dollars a month but if I've been a customer for years and never had service charges, why does TD Bank not give a damn about loyal customers and treat them the same as Carolina First. EVEN MORE reason to close accounts!
Third TURN-OFF-Putting a hold on payroll checks that are deposited on a weekly basis for over 10 years just because you don't know me as a customer...whose fault is that! Maybe you should get to know your customers more instead of punishing them by holding their money.
Conclusion-By the end of the week I will have my checking, savings and children's custodial accounts closed no matter how much of a pain it will be to change all my direct deposits and auto-draft payments! I am FED UP!

TD Bank mortgage

Ever since td bank took my mortgage over and the bank I had it with, i've had nothing but problems.

First, I closed a safety deposit box around 2006 or 2007 and I still receive notices stating if it's not paid they're opening ther box. I say well open it already. This is after they sucked my account dry for past rental fees. I closed that savings account which was open since 1996.

Now i'm stuck with them holding my mortgage. Since doing so i've had so many late fees added to my mortgage, when it's been paid on time. When I was late they did get their extra $13.40, but it was always paid in the months time. Yet on my credit report they reported over 60 days late. Thank god I have all my receipts.

I'm sure i'm not the only customer having this problem. I wonder if a bunch of us get together an file something against them if they have to resolve this. Another thing... I have to go to another town to pay my mortgage. My town bank can't even process it... Talk about convenience..

TD Bank service charges

How the banks can justify constantly increasing the fees or limit you need to maintain to not be charged fees. In an electronic world, you don't always see every warning that as of date X fees are going up if you don't maintain a new lower limit. They should not be allowed to change account fee or min limits without your signature - they make you sign your life away when you open the account so it should be the same when THEY want to make a change.

It's too bad that our world makes us NEED a bank since none of them care about their clients. Make billions but keep increasing our fees. It's funny how they all do it at the same time also - that way people won't switch banks. I also have 2 business account (one with TD and one with Desjardin) and both increased the monthly fee on the commercial account by the SAME amount on the same day. Seems like the gas company collusion !

TD Bank counterfeit 100$ bill

I went to TD to withdraw 2500$ to deposit in my checking account in RBC. The teller got the money from the dispenser, counted the money with a machine and put it in an envelope and gave it to me.

Went to RBC to deposit the money and after the verification, they found out that one of the bills was fake. They seized the bill and filled out the form to report it to RCMP, which is a standard procedure.

Went back to TD with the receipt and told them one of the bills was fake. The lady who was the manager of the branch told me that when the money goes out of the branch, they do not have any liability. And they do not know if the bill was switched or not (OF COURSE THEY DON'T). I told her look, it is OK for me to lose 100$ but it is not OK that you tell me I am lying to you. And she shakes her head in a very sarcastic way.

Anyway, I called my lawyer and explained the situation. He told me it happened one time to his mother from the same bank. He said try to call the TD call center, and if they are not helpful, file a complain with the Police and he will take it from there. I called TD and talked to a customer service and she told me that she is sorry for the experience that I had and she is going to talk to HelpDesk to see what can be done. After few minutes on hold, she came back and said that it is impossible to get a fake bill as there are several verification process. Basically she told me that I am lying too.

I asked for the manager of the center. After a couple of minutes, she was on the line. Very nice lady and very cooperative. She said we are human and we make mistakes. And as a good will, she refunded me the 100$. I told her you have to escalate this to reverify your procedure as it seems that it is not working.

MY SUGGESTION: Do not get cash from TD if you can. Try to transfer money by check, drafts, etc... Ask the teller to count the money in front of you. They are trained to distinguish the fake by touching and they could identify fake bills when they are counting.

I always thought I can completely trust bank about this. It was proven wrong.

Good Day,

I am so appalled by TD in the last 2 months. My partner has released from the Canadian Forces and we have not received the monies from his Pension cheque. Which is way over due. WE have been late on payments, and have asked for a little forgiveness.

I have had insurance and a bank account with TD for more than 20 years. However in the last 2 months more than $500 in NSF fees have come out of my account. The last one was for my insurance, and then you ding me again with an NSF fee. I have called via phone and "Jason" from your accounting department said there is nothing that he can do.
Once, we get above ground. I intend to go thru another insurance agency and get a new bank.
Your company has done nothing but gouge our family for 2 months, when we needed you the most.

Lets try to work on this, if no response within 24 hours, I intend to contact CBC, CTV, SUN and other news agencies.

TD Bank scam bank

This bank is plain sociopathic. Over the years they have manipulated their software to have you bounce chesck, e.g. not crediting deposits (cash) via ATM (attached to the bank) and hold it as if it's a check from Bulgaria. Just one of many examples. This is typical of big arrogant banks, and my prediction is they'll fold like Fleet and all the other arrogant shysters before them

TD Bank awful bank, stay away

On June 24, 2011, I requested a 2-month deferment on my consumer loan (automobile) due to temporary economic hardship as a result of unemployment. Informed that unemployment is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE HARDSHIP, and that I am ineligible for assistance because part or all of my income comes from public assistance in the form of unemployment claim benefits. A bit ironic since I believe that “America’s Most Convenient Bank” benefited from public assistance in the form of the federal bailout funds.

"In case you were wondering TDbank never used any bailout money we take pride in that!" Really? They didn't need bailout because they steal money from their clients with incorrect and illegal overdraft fees. So if they can make $210 because account was over-drafted once by $5 in single day but prior other 5 purchases on the same day had available balance, they definitely wouldn't need bailout. They are crooks.

But to answer your complaint You were denied w/ your request because it is indeed unacceptable ...TD can not depend on your unemployment check...eventually that could stop coming in same thign with SSI check that's not gonna be there forever which means that is an invalid source of income their only following the guidelines and criteria that is set for them surely anyone with sense would understand.

TD Bank fraudulent fees and threatening more

I have long had issue with TD Bank's outrageous fee asessment, moving of my tranactions, and denial of any wrongdoing. On the rare occasion I have been refunded a fee, it has been with condesention and nastiness. My complaint now is about how CASH for the same transactions was removed from my account twice to make a large overdraw, then place back after the fees were asessed to charge even more CASH.

When I went to the bank to request about why I was charged nearly $300 in fees, the person I spoke to showed me how $18.00 in transactions had been held, leaving 7.99 in my account. Then 8 additonal transactions were place through my account. All of the transactions by the way add up to less than 25 DOLLARS. I did not make 8 transactions in addition to the 18 DOLLARS in transactions that were "held" . I specifically questioned if he was telling me the 8 transactions he is showing me on 7/12 are different transactions apart from the ones that had been on hold for the 18.00 on 7/9. He said they were different transactions apart from the transactions in the 18.00 being held. I then requested to see what transactions made up the 18.00. He went to print them out, then tried to distract me from them to discuss the additonal 4. It was at that time that I noticed that the same 4 transactions on the 18.00 hold were the same 4 being charged as overdrafts in additon to that amount, each having a fee asessed. When I pointed this out, he changed his tale, but I had the printout and I had questions.

What had happened was the 18 DOLLARS had been held, then the additonal 4 transactions were out through along with at least 2 of the previous ones already taken out, which would overdraw the account because th eMONEY was already taken out once already. Then, fees were asessed, then the 18.00 place back into my account (the person I spoke to type in some different code or number to show different screen with them the way they show up on the statement), but sucked up by the 105 in fees. Then the remaining hold transactions place through and I was charged more CASH in fees. Then, a check went through and was charged an additonal fee. While I can know that banks charge for an overdraw, to remove the CASH twice to increase the number of fees asessed and then deny it seems unethical. In all I should have been charged 1 fee and that was for the check. The other overdraw came to less than 5 DOLLARS, which they state in their own information they do not charge for. Even if they did, again that does not add up to $285 in fees. As a result of being unaware of these fess until I had made further transactions, I learned my balance was -800.00 over half of it being fees they had asessed me. I have seen this happen many times when my account is within 50 DOLLARS. I even had a check returned when the CASH was in my account (I was in that case refunded the fee).

Last March I noticed similar things going on with my checks. I would see a check CASHed on one day, then I'd see it went to the day before a few days later and several fees charged. When I went to the Winooski branch to request about this, I was told by the Branch Manager Kaitlyn as follows: The check came in at midnight, the same time as your direct deposit. We held your direct deposit until 1am to place the transactions though." When I contacted TDBanknorth by phone and told them this because I wanted to know if it was right, I was told there's no way she would know what time the check went through and holding my direct deposit was illegal, especially if it were to place transactions though. There was conveniently no time on the check when i finally managed to get a copy of it. It has been suspiciously unavailable to print out or view online, even though I was in the current month to do so.

I was additionally charged an overdraft fee after making a $2100 deposit in May of this year, even though I made the deposit at the ATM before the time that would make it unavailable until the subsequent day. Again suddenly that was not the policy when I questioned.

All of the questions about thsi btw, including this week's transaction game play were followed by attemtpting to get me to open a savings account stating it would solve the problem. Except it doesn't. There are many stipulations that even when I questioned were not told to me when I initially was going to open a savings account. It is just another way to manipulate more CASH out in fees.

When I contacted TDBanknorth by phone to speak with a manager this evening, not only was I given the same excuses. But when I said I would file a complaint about it and close my account, I was threatened with additonal retaliatory fees and told I'd be left with small over $3 in my account when he was done. His name was Ryan Wall. I am certain that is illegal and would liek to know how to file a formal complaint directly opposed to him. He apparently feels he is above.

I an be reached at [protected] or [protected] x139 before 4pm on weekdays. I do have printouts to fax of this recent transaction issue and can tray to find any I still have in my posession regarding previous issues. I believe they do this to create an overdraw history in accounts so they can justify their refusal of returning fees and remove any credibility the person has when they ask questions. Please let me know how I can be assisted with this as I am now concerned that Mr Wall is going to create further issues in my account to justify his behavior.

TD Bank debit card

It started with Metro PCS. I went to pay my bill online. Their website informed me that there was an error processing..Try again. So I did and it was taken from my account twice. I battled Metro thinking it was them. After a week and a half the bank got that squared. So now on Friday I'm at Rite-aid and my card is declined..I check with the bank and the charge is listed. They tell me at midnight it'll disappear. But it posted. So I guess now its going to take me another week and a half to get this money back. I need to find out what the heck is going on. I can't afford to use my debit card at this point because I don't know when this will happen again.

I've had direct deposit and have lived on my debit card for years. I've never had a problem. I make a lot less money now and I just cant afford to be battling for my money this way.

Metro was squared. It took 10 business days. My point here is that when a card is declined which it was in both instances there should be no money deducted from my account. I talked to the bank today and they have to "investigate" the rite aid incident. They also suggested I get a new debit card. I dont trust their system anymore.

td bank has a new change .They will let you use ur debit card when there is no money left in the acct. So if you are set up for an auto debit for 4.00 and it is over ur Bal they will let it go and keep going every time you use it they just let it add up 35.00 each time.
And in these times I go down to my last penny so we just put in 36 hrs of work to find out that 80% of my pay went to bank fees .But good news of of the 800.00 in fees they could wave 300.00 BIG DEAL! I know I can get my kids td pens & deposit slips forChristmas there still free right ?

CONVENIENTLY SCAMING YOU BANK .HOW IS THIS RIGHT FOR THE WORKING PEPOLE ?

(See attachment) I have a business account, I have lost over $4000 in overdraft fees and yes doesnt matter how hard I try to avoid this fees they always hit the account. And to those slick that always jump saying ohhhhhhhhh if you dont have the funds dont used it, well...I do have the funds but they trick you in all the ways to hit you with the fees. The goverment doesnt do nothing, the law enforcement doesnt do nothing, the bank and our local politicians doesnt do nothing...My bank account is [protected], I hope that someday 1 judge makes them refund back all the overdraft fees that they have take from us like they ruled in California to Wells Fargo.

They let your transactions go through because, in this economy, with the "working people out there", at times you may not balance your check book properly and write an important check that you need to be paid, so in turn the check will be paid and you will be saved that payment for the check and as the bank pays that for you, you are charged $35.00. If its a problem and you keep incurring fees for overdrawing, DON'T USE YOUR DEBIT CARD WITHOUT HAVING THE MONEY TO COVER IT! It's not that hard to keep track of your account. And yes, the sign outside has said TD for months, because believe it or not, when you purchase a company it takes more then just a week or two to completely merge, so in this case being TWO LARGE BANKS it toke about a year for everything to be ONE ENTIRE BANK. If you never received your copy of the green book sent out in the mail, you could've requested a copy at your local TD bank. Many people have done this. And in the past, before last October, there have been fees for overdrawing your account also, just not for doing it with your debit card. Just a little bit more, it's not a SCAM if you know that it's going to happen. Don't use money that you don't have. It's that simple.

So true So true. TD bank sucks. 35.00 bucks a pop can add up to alot. We had the same situation only we had them put a hold on purchases that went over our balance. Big surprise when my account is overdrawn, I'm like what the H? So I call the nasty customer service rep who says to me that when they switched to TD in October(WHAT THE F? because the sign outside has said TD for months now) that the service was automatically cancelled but no one bothered to inform me. Oh wait, supposedly it was in some book they sent me-that I NEVER got!
