My finance and I recently bought a 18'x4' intex pool from target in west does moines, iowa, on 6/24/07, for $500.00. Last week the pump stopped working. I called the 800#for maintenance. They said since I lost my receipt I needed to go to my bank and get a copy of the check we used. Then to fax it to [protected]. Which I did. I called today to see when to expect the new pump because it was under warranty, and the female informed me I wasn't even in the records. She was very nasty with me. I tried to talk to her nicely and she told me I could not talk to her that way. I was getting very upset and yes I did raise my voice because she was interrupting me. I am having a pool party this friday for my 4 year old grand-daughter, and no pump to clean our pool before then. I really did hope to have it here by then. I want to know why im not registered, because my banker was the one to fax it to you. It was faxed on the 26th of july. I was told as soon as you got the fax a new pump would be shipped to me. Now how do I tell my granddaughter of 4 she cant swim and have her friends to swim either. I apologize for being rude, but I was promised something and now nobody knows anything about it?

I have an Intex meatl froame pool 15x48 with the same pump it came with for the last 3 years. The pump is not powerful enough so I run it 24/7 . It keeps working just fine but still is a piece of junk. I bought a Hayward pump and filter and will use the return and drain to get enough water to use the new pump since it is very powerful. The hole in the return of the pool is too small for enough water to work a better pump. Even if you buy a laerger pump from INtex for your pool the hole in the sidewall just isn't good enough unless you modify.

Intex should be held liable for the garbage pumps they sell at the lower end of the line. The higher priced ones seem to work better but I would rather go with Hayward or another brand that works for above ground pools.

Return to the store and purchase another pool. Carefully open the box and switch out the pumps. Then return it the next day to the store saying the pump doesn't work and you have decided to look around for a better quality pool. You will save lots of time and have your pump for the birthday party.

Go back to the store and get another identical pool. Very very carefully open the box and switch out the pumps. Return the pool the next day saying you changed your mind. You tried to do it their way and you got no justice; now do it your way. They owe it to you!

I purchased an Intex metal frame 15x48 above ground pool. The first problem I have experienced is the pool is almost impossible to get level. We have tried everything, even digging and leveling out a hole for the pool and it still is nto level. The pool pump, skimmer, filter and vacuum system is a complete joke! In years past we had an Intex 12x30 which included the same size filter that the large 15x48 provides. This filter is too small for this large pool. I have had nothing but trouble trying to keep this pool and safe to swim in. I also have spent tons of money on chemicals to have nothing but cloudy water. This is pool is a major disappointment for the cash I spent to purchase it.

I too have had pump problems with the intex 18ft metal frame pool. The little black pump that fastens to the skimmer is too small and mine only lasted two weeks. I called and gave them my serial number off the sid eof the pool. I was told to expect my pump in one to two weeks. Everytime I call, I get the run around. They put me in the system but I've been waiting over a month for them to send it to me. They order all the parts from China and can not give me a tracking number or have any idea when I'll be able to use my pool. There email is a joke too. They won't answer it no matter how many you send. The customer service is nonexistant. Please stay away from Intex pools.

Aug.2008 Put up 18 Ft. metal wall pool in mid june have had nothing but problems. spend 95% cleaning and only 5% enjoying it. The filter systen is a joke it needs to be on a 3 ft pool nothing any bigger. Called intex 3 times for help and that also is a joke, tried e -mailing to them and only get to the part where you send it and it won't. This big $500.00 JOKE has just made me sick. Spent hundreds of dollars in less than 2 months buying chemicals, having water tested trying to get the pool water color normal not green. I have learned one thing keep your recipt this was my 2nd mistake the 1st was buying this Intex POOL.

I have had 3 different pools all have been good if not great. I have had the same one for 2 seasons now and it works fine pool and filter. To keep them clean you have to stay on top of them, just as you would if you had a real above or below ground pool. My experience with service is great no problem at all. I have not had any warranty problems so maybe thats why, but still am happy with product.

My COMPLAINT IS DIFFERENT, OUR FILTER HAS TINY WHITE MITE LOOKING BUGS IN IT. Nobody seems to know what these things are or how to get rid of them. Does anyone else know anything about this?

I am so disgusted with this company I filed a complaint with the BBB. After three attemepts at trying to put up a metal frame 15x4ft pool, with all three of them having a manufacturer defect we have gone back to the tradidtional pop up pool. We followed the directions to the letter with leveling the ground, making sure the site was prepared correctly but still after it rained the pool started to sink, and shift. It was not put on sand it was put on well packed soil per their instructions. When I called Intex to complain the sales rep was so rude, and eventually I was hung up on. I purchased this product at Walmart and they at least stood behind it. I now have this huge bare spot in my lawn where the site for the pool was prepared, I have wasted over 6000 gallons of city water, and this company will not do anything about it. Not only did the pool legs sink the entire frame started to bow and bend, THAT IS NOT SAFE! Do not buy this product, I know some people say they love this pool but that has not been the case in our situation. I wish we could afford a permanent above ground pool but we can not, so IMHO this company preys on people like us who are on a limited income just trying to provide some summer fun and relaxation at an affordable price. There was nothing affordable about wasting this amount of water, and I am hating to see what our water bill is going to look like. SHAME ON INTEX!

Our pump filter has gone out too, we used it for maybe 2 months last summer when we bought it. Got it out to get it started again this year and its not doing anything but making horrible noises, no suction at all.

It never was strong enough anyway either, the pool was never as clean as we liked no matter how long we ran it. Its much too small a filter for the large pool we have.

There are complaints all over the web about intex and their customer service. I hope people check around more than we did.

I would definitely say BUYER BEWARE also. I think they bank on the fact that people will buy it and use it for one summer or partial summer, then put it up like us and be out of luck the next year when it bites the dust.

What a waste of money.

I bought a metal frame pool, it was pretty easy to set up. BUT CONSTANT WORK. ALWAYS DIRTY. NOTHING TO GET THE DIRT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE POOL. THE SKIMMER IS CRAP. PUMP IS NO GOOD, I GOT THE 635 MODEL. IT BROKE WITHING A YEAR, THEY DID SEND ME A NEW ONE BUT THAT BROKE WITHIN 6 MONTHS. NOW I WILL THROW IT AWAY. IF YOU WANT A POOL THAT WILL LAST A FEW MONTHS THEN THIS IS THE POOL FOR YOU.

I WOULD RATHER SPEND SOME MORE MONEY AND GET A REAL ABOVE GOUND POOL . April 15, 2008.

I had purchased the intex 18'x48' 4 years no problems at all with old pump the pool air ring finally gave but still 4 years of use out of a cheap good deal We now just bought our seconc 18'x48' the pump lasted 1 week! It is a different pump Not as good as the old pool I'm sorry we threw the old pump away. We sent intex the information they ask for proof of purchase receipt, date ect they sent us a new pump IT has been exactly 4 weeks THIS PUMP STOPPED WORKING ALSO. CALLED INTEX AGAIN NOW i HAVE TO SEND THIS ONE BACK TO THEM BEFORE THEY SEND ME ANOTHER. WONDER WHAT THE COST TO ME WILL BE I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. I THINK THE WAY IT SOUNDS IS THEY NEED TO GO BACK TO THE OLD PUMPS? We will update to let you know if this one THE THIRD YES # 3 will last any longer than the first two if it doesn't we will no longer use the product again ITS REALLY TO BAD BECAUSE I HAD NOTHING AT ALL TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ON THE FIRST POOL WORD OF MOUTH FROM ME PROBABLY SOLD MY NEIGHBORS AND FAMILY 100 OR SO .I CANNOT THIS TIME SAY I WILL PROMOTE THIS PRODUCT UNLESS THEY GET TO A PUMP THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AGAIN.

My intex pump lasted for 1 season and about (4 months worth of work) I set it up this year and it lasted a couple of weeks then went out, I called and got a replacement is was within the 1st year warranty. It lasted 2 weeks and went out (pump stopped would not run), I called intex and they told me the 1 year warranty had ran out (only good form the original dated receipt (1 year from that date). The replacement pump doesn't have a warranty. Lotta good it done me to get the replacement - it only tells me that the intex pumps are cheap - junk.

I decided to tear the pump down and found the impeller shaft broken - it is a small ceramic shaft that the motor armature rides on. the ceramic shaft is cut out on both ends to make a weak place where it will break very easy. I decided to look at the original pump and the ceramic shaft was broken in the exact same place (I was hoping I might be able to make 1 good pump out of 2 bad ones- no such luck). I ask intex if they would sell me the armature and shaft and they said "no" - Have to buy the whole pump/filter assembly - So I said "NO". I will not buy a intex pump - Cheap ! Cheap! Cheap!

The pool is a 18 ft and 48 inches tall, the ground has to be very very level or it will not setup right, it took me 2 tries. Love the pool once setup. Just follow the instructions and it's pretty easy.

I am having the same problem. However, I have sent the fax (to the same number) TWICE! This has been going on for a month now and I am still not "IN THE SYSTEM"... AAAHHH!

This may help. I contacted my local Wal-Mart where I purchased the pool and they were willing to exchange the pump, BUT they didn't have any more in stock. You may try that with your local store and get results.

Why is it so hard to get service from Intex?

Priscilla.
