Swizzie.com seemed like a great place to start my christmas shopping for my family. With the economy and current state of things I thought Swizzie would be a great place to find good bargains for the holidays.
I mean who can beat an iPod for 10 bucks? So I go to create and account and get started. Little did I know that when I entered my credit card and checked the "agree to terms" box I authorized Swizzie to sell me a $75 "bid pack"

So I immediately emailed their "customer service" dept. Here is the reply I received:

Hello,

Thanks for writing in. Unfortunately, we're unable to issue any type of refund for your purchase as all sales on bid packs are non-refundable. Our pricing is very clearly stated when you entered your credit card number and confirmed your purchase, as well as our refund policy which you agreed to.

Please visit http://www.swizzie.com/how_swizzie_works to learn more about our auctions and better your chances at winning. Additionally, by developing a strong bidding strategy you an greatly increase your overall savings and winnings. We have a write up that goes over some basic strategies found at http://www.swizzie.com/strategy_guide. Our Help Center can also be an invaluable source of information, which is found at http://www.swizzie.com/help

If you would still like us to disable your account, we can do so per your request. Just as a reminder however, no additional charges will be made unless you explicitly enter your credit card information (purchasing bid packs, paying for won auctions).

Best Regards,
Swizzie Support

Now it appears that the site is no longer working. I am refuting the charge with my bank and filing a complaint with The Better Business Bureau. Someone has to put a stop to this nonsense! I have also attached a screenshot of the current state of their website. Maybe they are gone for good!

Hello,

I finally had time to call Swizzie.com's Customer Support line and after explaining to me that I 'agreed' to purchase a $75 bid pack, I told them I misunderstood the rules and I wasn't interested in their service. They issued me a refund. Here is the number - I have to admit that their Customer Service Support picked right up and everything was settled in less than 5 minutes.

Good luck!

Also regarding gkenigmatic's comment I agree - if it sounds too good to be true it is. I may even have been likely to purchase bids on the site - the whole fact that they hit you when you sign up without making it very obvious is the root of the problem.

A complete scam. I've bid on several penny auction sites and won a lot of stuff, but no one is going to win anything on swizzie.com. The bidding is rigged which is obvious to see if you have a lot of bids and try to win an actual item. I don't mean to jump in blindly either, after a careful study of the site and the item you want to win, you'll still lose. Stay away from this site, all you'll do is lose money.

Swizzie live actions are rigged so that you never win. They go on forever, and never appear to end. When they do, someone else always wins! And you are CONNED into entering your credit card info, after you are charged $75 for bids that you did not even consent to!
