Swift Transportation Services driver

Driver of truck# 150729 at the ta in Hudson Wisconsin have a alcohol fueled sex party in his truck blowing his air horn while the whole time people in and out of his truck yelling and screaming all hours of the night. I don't think swift allows for said activity and really don't think you should have a driver that indulges in them. And I'm positive dot doesn't.

Swift Transportation Services employee mistreatment and freezing drivers out or refusing to give loads

The hub in Baker County recently terminated senior management giving responsibility to office staff that has resulted in unfair treatment of their staff and drivers.

Drivers are denied all time off requests, if they call out sick are not being scheduled for days afterwards but worse is the way they are yelled at in front of other employees. They are told if they say anything they will be sent to OTR or "froze" out until they are forced to quit. If you explain you are not safe to drive, if you are scheduled 8 hours after PTA and tell the woman in charge you need a shorter load you get screamed at and threatened verbally with termination.

All are afraid to speak up and report this abuse because most of them are new hires and just out of school. No human should be treated like this so as a group, a petition has been started and complaints will be made to the corporate HR dept along with an EEOC complaint to start an investigation in which we hope they will hear everyone's concerns and make the necessary changes to stop this abuse as WalMart needs to know how their contracted company mistreats their employees.

Swift Transportation Services driver's attitude.

I work security at a warehouse in northern Nevada, and had a driver with a combative attitude. His name is Melquiades Rosas-Ambrocio. Truck number 151744. He became combative when he first came into the office. When asked what his load number was, he asked if I was going to write it down, then kept repeating the number and repeating "it's dedicated". When I found his paperwork, I simply asked if he knew his trailer number. He kept repeating his inbound trailer number. I kept saying "no, do you know what your loaded trailer number?". Poor attitude, poor listening skills, etc. I hope he drives better than his attitude and his people skills.

Swift Transportation Services driver cut me off and put a crack in my windshield, swift refuses to pay for it

I was driving to work the other day when a Swift driver cut me off and as he was crossing over kicked up a huge rock that put a large crack in my windshield.I keep plenty of distance between myself and the vehicle in front of me to avoid rear ending someone, or taking a rock or other object to the front of my car.

Well I left enough space to where the swift driver in the right hand lane decided to get over just a few feet from my front end. So the very thing I was trying to avoid is what happened. So I called Swift's claims dept. and was told they would make it right.

3 days later I get a call from the adjuster to told me they "don't cover these types of claims". I explained to her that it wouldn't have happened if I didn't get cut off. She said the driver "denied that he did that". Well of course he did lady!

As if someone would admit to it and volunteer themselves for corrective action. She basically told me too bad, I'd have to pay for the damages. I understand that when a driver sees a window to get over they're going to take it (even a very tight window).

It's not easy driving a tractor trailer. With that being said though, when something like this occurs, swift needs to own up and pay for the damages.

That is what your insurance is for. Regardless of whether the truck cut you off or merged normally, the rock would still have hit your car. No one has to pay for stuff like that unless they throw the rock at you. I am going out on a limb and say the driver did not know there was a rock there. People driving normally has resulted in rocks hitting my truck. It happens. If your windshield is cracked, contact your insurance. That type of claim might be a freebie.

Swift Transportation Services discrimination

I contacted a recruiter, told him I had a service dog for PTSD and anxiety. He told me it was fine bring my dr letter and they would get me a mentor that was OK with dogs. He also told me to get my DOT physical which I paid $60. He got me a greyhound ticket to Fontana Calif, a 16 hour ride in total with my bags and my service dog. I was told to bring money for my food and that was all.
When I got there I had my ID and Soc. Sec card and my DOT physical went with the instructor to make copies and she immediately tore up my $60 DOT physical because the box for which class license I was getting wasn't checked, too bad about my lost $60, I had to go thru their physical with concentra in Fontana CA... OK. Get to the physical passed eyes, ears, listed my meds took my UA and was told I was going home to get medical clearance for my meds and my service dog, which I already had a doctor's letter for and was cleared by the DOT examiner for my meds. Concentra in Fontana at the Swift school disqualified me. So back I go, 16 hrs home with my bags and my dog, get my clearances have my recruiter get me another greyhound ticket and back down I go, thinking OK, they can't say anything now. Get to the physical and they tell me I have to leave my service dog that my dr states MUST be with me at all times, in the motel room from 6am when I leave for class til 6pm when I return AND I can't take the meds I was medically cleared for and stated by my dr would not impair my driving. I was told my service dog and my PTSD are a liability. What! Not according to my dr or the DOT examiner! Only according to Swift. So I am disqualified to drive unless I submit to these unacceptable terms. Sounds like discrimination to me! So back I go again on ANOTHER 16hr ride with my service dog and bags in tow, out about $500 and was never told in the beginning I would need an additional $73 for my permit, which I never even got to take.
I was discriminated against and played with the whole time. My condition was severely aggravated and I'm still suffering from the trauma of being treated like I had the plaque from everyone at Swift from the instructor to the ppl at Econo Lodge where I was sent to the management at Swift.
I HOPE there is something I can do to stop the unfair and discriminating practices at Swift

Swift Transportation Services corporate management

I worked at Swift from [protected] in the AR Department, Phoenix, AZ. In 2013, Swift did a reorg company wide implementing the A, B, C employee rating. After this, employees were targeted. Most were fired. I myself was targeted and filed complaints with HR Department for bullying tactics. My complaints fell on deaf ears and were never investigated as I was told they would be by HR Regional Manager Lindsey Wilbert. Once my complaint(s) were filed, I started receiving PCR's ( write ups ) for poor performance. I did not sign the PCR's and tried to fight them. In my final meeting with the Director of Finance Cindy Douglas, Manager Jessica Rice, and HR Rep Lindsey Wilbert, I was told by Cindy that I was being "coached out" and would have to accept it. During this time, I filed a complaint with the EEOC, as did several other current / past employees. In Swift's response, Cindy Douglas totally lied about the circumstances. For instance, she stated she personally talked to me on the phone when she never did. I informed the EEOC of all fraudulent statements in my written response. Due to stress, I finally resigned, HOWEVER, Swift did not accept my resignation and tried to get me to come back in by telling me my job was secured. After several phone calls with Jessica Rice trying to persuade me to come back to work, I was terminated. Total bs! In the end, the EEOC told me that I didn't have a complaint and to file in federal or state courts. Swift twisted and manipulated the circumstances and EEOC believed it. I have never had an issue with my work performance till 2013 at Swift. It is widely known throughout corporate that if you start filing complaints with HR, you will be "gone". Jerry Moyes needs to stop flying around in his private jet and needs to see what's going on at corporate. Richard Stocking and Ginnie Henkels allow Management to do and say whatever they want to employees. Sadly, State agencies don't support you. Swift can ruin you!

Swift Transportation Services driver

On October 6, 2015 at about 2230 hours (10:30 pm ), on I-45 South bound near Huntsville Texas (mm124), a Swift driver pulling a set of doubles shined a laser light in my eyes as I passed on the left.. I saw a bright light in his mirror as I approached, so when I was right next to his drivers door, I looked over to see what the bright light was and he intentionally and blatantly flashed that laser in my eyes causing temporary blindness and blue dots in my left eye for over 24 hours. If that wasn't enough, as I try to safely move over to the right lane, the Swift driver hits me with his high beams, causing even further blindness! I am a safe and courteous driver for FEDEX for over 20 years! Therefore I did nothing to cause this action by the Swift driver. I am now on workers comp. because the laser caused abrasions on the lenses of both of my eyes! Not able to work or even light duty, my income is gravely compromised!

Swift Transportation Services avoid this place at all costs

I went to Swift to get my CDL's the first time I have ever driven a mass truck, and the first time I held a CDL license. Until I got a letter from the Deportment of Public Safety stating my license would expire in 30 days. Putting me in danger of losing my present job, which I had to take 3 days off with no pay to retake the test, that I thought I had already took. Plus Swift got over four thousand dollars from me for that school. I want my money back.

Swift Transportation Services stay away

I dont know what to do anymore i worked for swift for 6 months was never late on a load and never had a log book violation. then one day some *** civilian driver decides to rearend my trailer at about 5 miles a hour on purpose my dm tells me dont worry about it people do this all the time anyways the statie finds her at fault for the accident all of a sudden 3 days later my dm calls me and tells me safety in phoenix is charging me with a preventable accident and to call phoenix.

i call safety in phoenix they tell me they dont know what im talking about all of a sudden a month later i get pulled into the syracuse terminal and they tell me that i have t sign a form and go on probation or get fired because of that accident whe clearly i was rearended so i agree like a *** to go on probation.

about 10 days later while leaving the customer it was a tight spot i couldnt close my trailer doors i had to pull out so i can close them as i pull out te trailer door that was opened the chain thats hooked to it snaps and my door lets go hits a wall and falls off the hinges.

swift tells me i all set its faulty equipment that happens to drivers all the time i wont get fired for it next thing you know they tell me to bring my truck to the ocala terminal for a b service i do and boom they fire me staright bull.

now i try to get another job and my dac report was screwed up so i found out a way to challenge swift on my dac and they agree with me so they take the accidents off my dac report so now i believe i can get a job now right wrong.

because eveybody runs my dac report its clean but then they do driver verification forms and swift puts down that i was let go involuntary and i have 2 preventable accidents when none of those are even my fault i loved my job does anybody know of a company i can go to that just runs dac reports and doesnt go to swift for driver verification please let me know because i wanna take my hard work to a company that can appreciate me

Swift Transportation Services hiring illegal immigrants

I choose not to leave my name and date, but I will say the accident happened in 2007. I was operating a vehicle when I was plowed into the back of by a driver operating a Swift transportation vehicle. To make a long story short the company(Swift transporation) hired an illegal immigrant who did not have the right licensce to operate that vehicle. Can you believe that? You would think that they rushed and payed the claim, but they didn't. I am still going through litigations even though they were found at fault. Tell everybody you KNOW!

Yep... i am sure Swift does not participate in hiring illegal immigrants... However they do slip through the cracks every now and then. Perhaps the person that wrote the complaint to begin with is prejudice against Hispanics in general...

Hey... what if the driver had fake documents, licenses or ID's. You have no idea if Swift intentionally hired an UNDOCUMENTED immigrant. Perhaps the driver was a crook... not Swift.

Swift Transportation Services bad drivers

I am a current Swift Driver and I have been reading some of the complaints on this site. I am also retired from another career in law enforcement and I really do not have to worry much about the job security (lucky me). I drive to see the country but I also believe in a good work ethic so I do my best even when I am frustrated. This job can get the best of you if you let it. Like any other labor service, not much is required in terms of education to do the job, so if you are expecting that kind of professional treatment, you are in the wrong business. The same statement goes for most of the "management" in the company. DM's are not really company managers, for the most part they are your mouthpiece (dispatcher) to the real mangement which is the Terminal Manager and the Dept. Heads, Like maintenence, fleet, etc. These are the people who have the juice at the local level. But ultimately it is the Terminal Manager who is responsible to the company for what happens at the terminal. If you notice, there is no real avenue to upper management unless you are bold enough to find names and email addresses of those people and contact them. And in cases where those people are contacted by drivers, they tend to try and hide by contacting the Terminal Manager to intimidate you and your complaint and directing you to not contact anyone but them. But legally, if you have a way to contact those people then don't be afraid to use it, just document that you did it and when. Now, if you are merely posting your frustration on this website then you are not doing much to help yourself. Most drivers have gone through the usual intimidation tactics that DMs and others use. And it's usually your conscience that they target to get you to comply to what they want from you. It's called indoctrination. Some of the lines include "Per company policy" or "This is the what the job is" or "You agreed to do the job" or my favorite "this is an atwill job". The truth of the matter is that you can be fired at ANY time from ANY job in the U.S., the question is; Can the employer say it was for cause? (meaning you knowingly or purposely violated a rule or policy) Thus not having to pay the unemployment payments to you. Know your Driver Handbook and the DOT laws that directly pertain to you, memorize them and understand them, they are you best weapons. Corporations do not see you as an individual, "literally" you are a number. But not to fret, so is your DM and the rest, they are numbers as well. The real trick is "Proof" and legal proof at that. What is legal proof? First is direct testimony, Your word or recollection. Next is documentation; Did you write anything down? Next is tangeble; Do you have pictures or other documents such as receipts or broken parts? Then comes witnesses and so on. Getting mad and venting on the phone helps a little in the heat of the moment but it is largely what is expected from you and really useless, DMs are trained for that. So here is what I do: First, keep good paperwork. Your scans are great proof especially if you document arrive and departure times on the BOL and any other notes that you think are relevant like weather conditions, rude peoples' names, faulty equipment you are directed to use, etc.. Second, use the email address of your DM/Dispatcher to communicate problems with them or anyone else in the company but don't your address given to you by their system. Use your own email address or create on on gmail, yahoo with your name ex:[protected]@yahoo. In most cases they will not respond directly to any of your claims via email because the lawyers tell them not to. They will want to call you and tell you on the phone in some politically correct story, the law says you cannot record a call for evidence and if you do it has to be legally identified, but you can record a call to dictate notes to yourself with and convert the words said to a journal or email to yourself. Remember, emails are time and date stamped, create a folder for your sent and received messages and move them into it as you go along. But be very professional and do not use profane language. Be direct and to the point and even with boldness, and name the names of the people involved. If you are making a claim for compensation then state in the email somewhere that it is a claim for, ie. "please accept this as my claim for $25.00 as detention on order #00001", This is considered legal notice, and it is now a permanent record. Now here is the difficult ones. If your company uses qualcomm then take digital pictures of all of your messages, use muti pics if the message is long. Then transfer those pictures to a folder on a computer and rename them by the date and time on the message ex:[protected]). Believe me, you will thank yourself later. This is a timeline in addition to your log and can be used as "direct evidence" in any proceeding. Record "all" messages you receive on the unit, even if you think it is useless. Next, if your company has a website and a way for you to see your pay statements and or performance evaluations and emails they send you, Print them or store them on your computer or get copies when the occassion arises, keep a good file of them. Next, Write an email to yourself to record statements made to you by anyone in the company, remember, it's timed and dated and therefore admissible in most cases as a journal or diary, remember to get names and the time it occured, many companies record their calls onto a data base that they can keep for up to two years and listen to them later. Next, keep up on your company and the complaints against it in the courts. Companies are always being sued by someone. If you have a computer then just type in the name of your company and the word lawsuit. You'd be surprised what pops up. You can join a lawsuit if it pertains to you and your situation. Usually the plaintiff attorney will be on it and you can contact them directly. You can also look at company activity if it is publicly traded to see how it is doing financially. When you research a company, look for patterns, such as the same kind of complaints and who is making them and why and where. This can give you great info on where the problem people are.

Now here is a couple of don'ts, Don't rely on what you hear from other drivers or even from dispatchers or DM's. Company personnel are trained not to tell what they think you don't need to know. You are really NOT an employee, YOU are really a contractor/employee, it's kind of a legal limbo between the two. If you are serious about your complaints, then don't share them openly. Certain drivers love to spread rumors and bragg and snitch. If you are serious about your job then be professional at all times and don't blame customers for your problems or time spent at their locations. If you are not sure of how to word something, then seek help away from the business. Call an old friend or teacher and use a dictionary. Remember, your writings could end up in front of a jury. And always treat the people you are complaining to as if they were a jury, Be professional and to the point and always stay on point, don't let DMs sway you away from what you are claiming. That way your story never changes and is consistent. Now, here is a tactic you can use if you want to. Recently, drivers have been informed about the the new CSA guidelines. You should always remember that if you are the one responsible for the truck and load then YOU dictate weather or not it is safe for operation. If you are being harassed by a DM or other company personnel, when you get to where you are going (home) to do your hometime, Do a PTI and note "ANY" little thing you find and present it to the shop for action, fill out the paperwork yourself, not your DM. If it is a company truck then it has to be inspected by the shop and delt with before you go back out. We all know that aging trucks always have problems, and if the equipment gets enough reports on it from the shop then the company investigates it for liability. Again, remember, the company is about numbers and not your feelings. Business is business, and it works both ways, you just have to make it work for you as well as them. Hope this helps some of you and if you work for Swift, check this out

http://www.hbsslaw.com/cases-and investigations/swift_transportation_lawsuit

it is a link to a lawfirm (Hagens&Berman)that is handling a current lawsuit on Swift, go on it and check the "related news" on the swift lawsuit concerning routing miles. If you follow the recent Swift Company on the kiosk or website news then you know about the recent message about Maptuit directions on the qualcomm preplans and that the company has gone public and B service is now every 35k miles, all of these are related to cost. Usually when a very large company goes public, it is an exit strategy for the owner. DM's and managers will dismiss this as just another rumor and that is fine, But if you understand how the courts work then you will know that something like this usually ends up with a settlement of some sort and does not actually go to trial. I could be wrong but then again...all you have to do is check and maybe even join the lawsuit like I did.

Another tip: Many companies are announcing "weekly hometime routes and lanes" be careful with that, get all of the info you can before you drop your job for one of those companies, get your deal in writing first.

Theses are some of the reasons why trucks are being toured up.

Swift Transportation Services cheated me on disability income

They chose the cheapest policy for them and cheat the drivers, who don't earn the same amount every week, out of the correct amount for their disability insurance. They don't report the amounts to the insurance company according to the policy. I'm sure I am not the only driver that has been treated unfairly. I would just like my former employer to report the correct amounts so I can be paid the correct amount. I paid for these benefits, expecting to be able to use them correctly, when and if I needed them. I am being paid 20% of my income instead of 60% and am unable to pay all my bills.

Sounds like a bunch of BS on your end... You should have been known what you were getting into when you started. I am sure you were not fully informed or you are one of those people that get into jobs and suddenly "get hurt" so you can collect that disability income. Funny how Swift is such a huge company and you are the ONLY one with a complaint about your disability income... hmmmm... sounds like you are one of those guys that like to live on workers comp...

So if there were 5, 000 drivers that got their CDL's yanked then where are all the other complaints...? I also belong to several trucker blogs and I have never heard about your situation... I am sure there is more to the story. I am sure a multi-million dollar company is not going around just yanking cdl's to get money for training... expecially to 5, 000 drivers.. I mean come on.. kind of hard to believe. I don't thin Swift even has 5, 000 drivers, let alone 5, 000 drivers in training... ?

Anyone, please - I think Swift does a switch and bait scam regarding it's driving school - if you are let go then you owe them for the school - the entire amount and not just the year you are paying them back while driving - what they are doing is trying to get drivers who have gone through their school quit - this is where they are making their money. this sounds like a class action suit to me. Anyone else on board with this? Please contact, owlhootranch@gmail.com - I need some feedback.

I'm a driver for swift and I did they lease program n from day one they been rippn u off, they don't pay u right miles n on top of that they treat drivers bad u break down u waitn like all day to get through to someone on the phone...overall they the worse company ever drove for and I drove for like two years. Maybe if they treat drivers and pay drivers the actual instead of wantn to gype them outta 50 plus miles maybe they wouldn't be hiring new people every day, cuz unhappy drivers make business bad for company

Swift Transportation Services lies

I drove for swift from march 08 till oct 09. I never had a log violation or ticket accident was never late on a load. I was called into the memphis terminal and was told that the terminal was laying 75 drivers due to lack of freight, and that I was eligable for unemployment benefits. well I got home to mobile al. and the next monday I call tennessee and applied for unemployment, I recieved 2 chacks and then was told that they said I was fired due to log violations. my wife got sick and went into the hospital for congested heart failure, kidney desiease. things got better and I started looking for work it was now 2010. I applied for work for 3 companies and was turned down. my wife got sick again and has been in the hospital on 3 diffrent occasions and now had her legs amputated. I have applied for work in a diffrent feild, i contacted hireright and had then send me my report, on it was a statement that I had been involoved in an accident killing someone and both vehicles had to be towed, I am in the process of suing swift and hireright for slander, back pay and anything else I can get.

Swift Transportation Services - poor treatment mentorship program

I recently was in Swifts Mentorship Program. I was the worst experience of my life. I was yelled at several time by my Mentor because I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I was in fear of my life because he wasn't getting enough sleep. I was expected to do team driving before I knew what to do. You can't be taught anything if your teacher is asleep. He...

Swift Transportation Services fireing after accident

swift transportation left me in jersey for 5 hrs after an accident without calling, elegidlly trying to find a place to give a dot drug test. by the way they could have just sent me to the hospital. it would have taken 20 minutes, but no they left me on a street corner during thunder storms for 5 hrs before they called me back, then didnt even arrange to get me back home. and to top it all off they put that i refused the drug test and fired me the next day. i never refused to take the test if i had i would not have waited the 5 hrs for them to call.

I am curious I am about to go to orientation with Swift and I have read all of the "Complaints" on here and I have to wonder if Swift has in excess of 13, 000 trucks on the road and there are less than 20 complaints here I have to ask..."How bad can Swift be?"

On Saturday afternoon 230 pm your driver came into Kimberly Clark, Fullerton, ca to pick up a empty trailer, his name was William Montinaza. Truck # 301699 license # 2KE120
And i gave him trailer # 539260.my problem is he damaged my front bumper as he made a left turn to exit the truck yard. a second person looked at the damage to my car. Looks like his tire rubbed my bumper as he was driving out. It wasn't until later that day when i saw the damage have reported this to Kimberly Clark and hope you will take care of this unsafe driver as for the damage I doubt I will be repaid for repairs but i do hope the driver will be dealt with. As for me i will see him again

hello,
just read your complaint,
questions?
1 was that the only truck coming and going on the truck lot?
2 was anyone around to witness this accident?
3 do you really think acting out in violence is the way to go?
4did you ever think that the driver really noticed he hit your car?
these trucks are heavy and it is hard to feel when you hit something, trust me,
we were in colorado and 3 yearling cows were in the middile of the hwy it was dark and the cows were
black, my husband was driving 60 miles and hr i was in the sleeper all i felt was what i thought was him hitting the breaks
(cows do not react very quickly) he killed 2 out of 3,
so even though it is upsetting, give the benifit of a doubt, before getting to pissed off
and (SWIFT) isnt the only company on the hwys that have careless and unsafe drivers,
sorry to hear about your car, i know i would be upset as well,
deb
