he does terrible work then will not refund one dime keeps saying he will fix it but after giving him one chance to fix my face lift he made it worse he is just a legal con artist!

I have had multiple surgeries done by Dr. Hewell over the years. My first experience with him was thirty years ago. Since then I have had numerous friends and acquaintances who have had work done by Dr. Hewell. Therefore, I feel fairly confident in saying the over Dr. Hewell's thirty years I have not heard of anyone being anything but pleased with the outcome. Dr. Hewell is professional, knowledgeable, and very concerned about the outcome and the patient. He is the kindest Doctor I know.
I am very sorry for anyone who has problems during surgery. However, I always take my surgeries as everything else in life...nothing is perfect.
I too have had a botched surgery and been threatened by this con man. As with Me1713, I went in with a specific request and he convinced me to go with a more complex surgery, which of course was more money, so I did. And he didn't even address the issue I came in for. So upwards of $6000 later it still remains. I trusted his expertise and nmy original issue still remains! I was threatened that if I posted on the internet I would be sued, but I am glad to see that what I am doing is completely legal and moral and he is the criminal. I hope others find this before seeing him, I wish I had. In the words of Taylor Swift to Tina and Amy...there is a special place in hell for this man.
Dr. Hewell performed a rhinoplasty on me. He botched the surgery. After surgery, I noticed a lump on my nose. I immediately called the office to see if he would fix his mistake. The office said he would not. He charged me $5, 000.00 for the procedure. Now I will have to spend another $5, 000.00 to have Hewell's work redone by another surgeon. Hewell does not stand by his work. An awful surgeon who does awful work. I have pictures if anyone wants to see them. Horrible mess.
He is a horrible man. He deformed me. I went to him for a rhinoplasty and he botched it. I paid $5, 000.00 for the procedure and I am looking at another $5, 000.00 to fix Hewell's mess. He stole my money. I will never go back to him. He does not stand by his work.
I did some searching and found out he had at least seven lawsuits filed against him for medical malpractice in Kane County which is the St. Charles Geneva area. He also had traffic violations. He is a loose canon.
I have since been threatened with a "defamation of character" lawsuit. I've done my research and talked to a lawyer - you can't sue someone for their opinion or a re-account of facts. It's a scare tactic and I find it to be a very poor one. We are protected by our 2nd amendment rights as well as under the SLAPP suit clause (strategic lawsuit against public participation). I just find it scary that he would rather sue someone to cover things up than try to make it right. Not cool.
I have had a face lift, my eyes done and some lipo. Also after 3 ENT attempts to remove basal cell carcinoma on my temple, leaving little to work with, Dr.Hewell performed a scalp flap. I am very happy with all his has done for me. I worked as a nurse in Rochester MN on the plastic, reconstructive head and neck department ...I understood my procedures, possible complications and realistic outcome. I think often some patients have a vision in their mind of what they expect post surgery. In some cases, that vision is distorted. You are not supposed to look like a different person. You don't want to have someone look at you and say " she's had a lot work done" but rather hear " she is a nice looking older gal". I would recommend him to anyone.
I had a similar issue. I didn't have unrealistic expectations or expect a miracle. I was very happy with what I had, but it had been over 10 years and for safety reasons I decided to get my implants replaced. It was supposed to be a quick, in and out, "no big deal" he told me. But, he convinced me to do some things that I really didn't want to do when I initially went in, but I trusted his experience and expertise. 2 surgeries later, I still have SEVERE problems, and after doing my own research and getting other opinions, I'm finding out that the things he did were NOT the most current techniques and are actually considered outdated, ineffective, and even UNSAFE! Not only did I pay for 2 SURGERIES with Hewell (which of course he won't refund any), now I'm going to have to pay almost $9, 000 to another surgeon to fix this mess. Ridiculous.
He is a fraud.
I had the same/worse experience as several people in this post. Dr Hewell scheduled my surgery back to back with several other people and when I was under gave me someone else's procedures. He operated on my face and left my eye exposed too much causing serious dry eye which bothers my vision. Scarring on my face from a fat injection. He also operated on my breasts giving me a lift which was uneven and disfiguring to date I can not afford to fix all the problems this doctor has caused. I also requested a full refund and of course he did not refund anything.
Dr Hewell was so busy in the opertating room he gave me someone else's surgery. He has never corrected the problem or refunded any money. Is anyone interested in a lawsuit?

This is very interesting. My first surgery with Dr. Hewell was a rhinoplasty with extensive work done to repair a severe diviated septum. I was happy with the results but a year later and 2 yrs after that my ENT revealed my septum collapsed. After consulting with the doctor it was clear he was not happy to repair this. This became VERY clear as I woke up during surgery to the sound of a hammer cracking bones. Instead of administering more anethesia the doctor and nurses "reassured" me he was almost finished. I remained awake to the end. Horrendous experience! Now, 10 yrs later, my nose looks great. Only problem is I cannot breathe again. I do not want to go back to him.
I had a BA with Doctor Hewell and he was amazing, pricey but his work is great and I had hardly any pain, especially since other friends and family had told me their BAs were awfully painful. I don't know about facelifts but for BA he is definitely great.
I HAVE HAD A RHINOPLASTY, BREAST IMPLANTS AND LIPOSUCTION WHICH WERE ALL AMAZING... MY DAUGHTER HAD A MOLE REMOVED AND HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE ALSO ... I HAVE HAD GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH HIS STAFF AND WITH DR. HEWELL. HE DOES AMAZING WORK AND HIS BEDSIDE MANOR IS AWESOME... YOU CAN'T TAKE SOMEONE UGLY AND DO MAGIC ON THEM... MAYBE THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THINKING THAT MIRACLES CAN BE DONE TO TOTALLY CHANGE THEIR WHOLE LIFE.
My girlfriend told me about complaints against Dr.Hewell and I just had to comment that I find them hard to believe! I have had 3 major surgerys with this Dr. over several years and all the results have been beautiful! He did a tummy tuck years ago, a facelift & eyelids about 8years ago and just this year did a secondary facelift which has brought me many compliments and looks very natural. I think the complainers must have other issues or expected miracles. I have recommended Dr.Hewell to friends and family members and not one of them has been unhappy with his work.
Thank you for sharing your story. Your post is appreciated. Having had a tummy tuck, while a serious operation is still something I can hide if the results were not good unlike any facial procedures. I wish these doctors would be more honest with us and not do a procedure that is not their speciality. Then to leave you with a bill, more debt and a bad job is all the more cruel. I don't know how to weed out the qualified from the not anymore. Your post gives me great pause. I have you in my thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery. Ashleyann, I had to go to the kind of doctor who is a specialist at fixing serious eye problems, vs. a cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Hewell left me with bottom eyelids that folded out, exposing the inner part of the bottom lid. He also left me with bald spots in my scalp, which I haven't been able to afford to fix. I'm sorry, I have no other plastic surgeon to recommend, but good luck!
I have had other procedures/body done and was somewhat happy with results done by him. I am in search of a doctor for a face lift and after reading posts scared! Is there a doctor other than Hewell who you would recommend?
I had the same experience as jenny. Dr Hewell did a poor job and when I complained, he "fixed" it and made it even worse. I had to spend $8, 000 with another surgeon to fix his sub-par work. He would not refund a dime to help me pay for the third surgery. He threatened to have his lawyers sue me if I said anything bad about him, to boot.
Dr Hewell took care of my mother's facelift and other surgeries and did an amazing job. He was very caring and the surgery turned out beautiful. My Mom is 75 and was a higher risk but he took good care of her and her surgery was a success.
I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. Have you found a new surgeon to help you? Who is a good plastic surgeon for face lifts?
