Sunset Club MISLEADING INFORMATION

We were enjoying our trip, but for our disgrace, we met a man selling day trips. He asked us to go and take a look to the nicest resort called Sunset Beach. After time pushing us to assist to his resort and trying to convince us saying this is just a breakfast, we agreed.
After breakfast, we met ISRAEL ROMERO (he was one of their sales representatives). He took us to another place, where a sales team was waiting for us.
The free breakfast became into a Timeshare Presentation, the sales team kept talking for many hours and they gave us alcohol, where they just stated LIES and used DECEITFUL SALES PRACTICES.
We were so tired and they stated that this will be a good investment, they made a big offer for us, apparently, and they said that this opportunity will not be available another day. We were very specific and we told them that our financial position is very critical and we cannot afford a timeshare. They were very optimistic and stated that they can rent our weeks for about $3000 USD per week and the maintenance fees and the membership will be paid for itself and we can make more and that way we will have another income to our family.
We were told that it would be a fantastic investment for the future and we would never lose our money and they GUARANTEED that. But is untrue too, you can´t even give it back to them or give it away. We were told that we could split our unit and rent the other side back to them at $500 USD a week or swop it for extra weeks if we split it. We were told this is a normal practice and we just email or ring Sunset and they will do this for us.
When we figured out that this is not what we were sold, we started sending emails and making phone calls, but since then, they just know one thing to say to everyone "THE TERMS IN YOUR CONTRACT" ...
At this point, we research Sunset Beach and we found many complaints on the web by the words “SCAM” and “FRAUD”. Please if someone wants to share some information, I will appreciate it.

Please be careful, this people is very well protected with their contract. If you decide to go to Sunset Group, be aware that they will steal your money, your HARD EARNED MONEY.

The tmeshare industry in Mexico is taking almost a Billion Dollars every year from Americans and Candians. They are taking away their earnest money based on lies and misrepresentation. I have collected evidence to support the claims of thousands of people deceived from this company. Share this info with your general attorney, the Federal Trade Commsision, the Consulate of Canada and USA in Cancún as well as any government agency that you believe might be interested in putting pressure in the Mexican Government to stop these companies from scamming more honest people.

You should try to call their customer support department at 800.961.5089. I can't imagine that they'd leave you hanging. I've dealt with them and they are very nice people. My cousin and his wife own a timeshare with them from back in the 90's and have been using it with no problems. They prefer timeshares over hotels.

To Whom It May Concern we have been in constant contact with Mrs. Reece regarding her membership. Regarding her comments online we would like to address all of the issues raised by her, as a marketing strategy we offer discounts on day trips in exchange for attendance to our vacation club presentation, the presentation is clearly expressed and if Mrs. Reece accept the invitation it is her personal choice. In reference to the presentation itself, it includes a buffet breakfast or lunch where our guests are free to order what they like, even though alcohol is available it is under no means forced up any guest; we trust that the individuals attending our presentation are responsible adults with a sense of morals and responsibilities.

If one of our guests wishes to join our vacation club after the presentation; we begin with the verification process; during this process an agent sits with them and explains all of the points of the contract step by step. In this case for Mrs. Reece to sign she had to have been explained all of those points to her satisfaction.

Regarding the rental of her membership unit we have contacted her and explained this procedure to her satisfaction. Mrs. Reece has been fine with her contract and everything has been explained to her, we have been in constant communication with her since the time she bought till now and she has even made reservations using her membership.

With the reservation that Mrs. Reece made using her membership she decided to cancel it, and asked us to issue her a letter stating that we where not willing to return her money for the reservation and those funds where forever lost. This letter she explained was going to be submitted to her travel insurance provider seeking reimbursement of the funds allegedly lost because of the cancellation of her trip. We explained that this money was not lost since we understand she cancelled her trip and followed the procedures to do so therefore this money was not lost and available for a future trip or to be reimbursed, we cannot issue this letter to cooperate with her attempts of defrauding her travel insurance provider.

After this incident Mrs. Reece has become very angry and stating that we have defrauded her with this contract. She has refused to state her reasons for not being satisfied and therefore we have not been able assist her. To make matters worse she has also stopped communication with us and through email communication is threatening to give us bad press until we issue her a refund for her contract. Such refund is not possible since she did not follow the proper procedures for the cancellation of such, stated in the terms and conditions of her contract.

We are available to continue to cooperate with Mrs. Reece when she decides to contact us.

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried calling their customer support? The # is [protected]. They have addressed all my concerns. I'm sure you can work something out with them until your situation gets better. Nonetheless really think about actually using it. Don't read all the negative comments and experience buyer's remorese. Think about enjoying it instead. Mexico is beautiful.

Sunset Club FRAUD

We went on Holiday to Cancun, Mexico on December 2008. We were enjoying our trip, but for our disgrace, we met a man selling day trips. He asked us to go and take a look to the nicest resort called Sunset Beach. After time pushing us to assist to his resort and trying to convince us saying this is just a breakfast, we agreed.
After being introduced to a sales representative called Israel Romero, he showed us the hotel. Then we were taken to Sunset Royal (Another resort from the same company), where a sales team was waiting for us. We were talked through a presentation and we had no intention of signing up, but as they kept talking to us for many hours and giving us alcohol, we were DECEIVED AND LIED TO with many special offers, so we decided to sign their contract,
One day after, we went back to Sunset because we figured out that everything they sold us was not truth. Israel showed us a different package for a lower price with more incredible offers. He said with this new package will have these benefits:
*.-We will have 4 week a year and 2 RCI weeks for 2 years. We were told the maintenance fee was payable every other year but we had 4 weeks a year to use plus the RCI weeks. When we started emailing Sunset they said that we now only 4 weeks every years. This is not what we were promised.
*.- We were told that it would be a fantastic investment for the future and we would never lose our money and they GUARANTEED that. But is untrue too, you can´t even give it back to them or give it away.
*.-We were told that we could split our unit and rent the other side back to them at $500 USD a week or swop it for extra weeks if we split it. We were told this is a normal practice and we just email or ring Sunset and they will do this for us (Now we are being told this is not so and because they lowered the price, they cannot do it).
When we figured out that this is not what we were sold, we started sending emails and making phone calls trying to contact to Jonathan Stoker Senior (Sales Manager) and cancel this contract, since then, he has been ignoring them all.
At this point, we googled Sunset Beach and we found on the internet many complaints by the words “SCAM” and “FRAUD”. Please if someone wants to share some information, I will appreciate it.

Believe it or not they are one of the better companies in Mexico. Mexico has a bad rep for timeshare scams but i hear this is definitely one of the better companies. Try calling them and i'm sure they will help you. They are people and probably understand the circumstances that American's are going through right now. I think if our economy was good there would be less complaints. Good luck.

Karen-i have dealt with Sunset in the past. They are a good company. I think you should try calling their customer support at 800.961.5089 and they will listen to you and offer you a good deal that you can afford. I wish you well adn i'm sure they'll work with you.
