Summit Merchant Solutions credit card processing

I found out on March 28th that my contract was altered after I signed it. The subject of the alteration was terms and limits on my processing capabilities. I was not informed of, or asked to agree to, the terms that were placed on the contract after I signed it. I do have the original carbon copy, that clearly shows that the terms were not listed when I signed the contract. The company will not waive the early termination fee of $495, stating that I agreed to the terms. I completely disagree that I agreed to them at all, as I did not sign the contract with those terms listed. Under these terms, First American Payment Services is not functional for my business. I have been losing money because of this ordeal. All I want is to be done with this company, but I do not feel that I should pay an early termination fee on a contract I did not agree to.

Summit Merchant Solutions unauthorized charges fraud

I was recently approached by a con artist who was very smooth and dressed in a expensive business suit by a business called Summit Merchant Solutions 201 Main St Suite 1000 Fort Worth Texas and American payment Systems. A
Smooth Talking Salesman named Lou Tucci got me to believe that this
company would save me money on my merchant fees. He presented figures and amounts that appeared to be less than what I was paying for my merchant service provider. I made a mistake in not reading the contract. Additionally the salesman did not disclose all of the fees that were much more than my current provider. He did not disclose the $95.00 annual merchant fee or that I would be charge for the entire previous month service charge for 29.12 that I did not use (I signed up on the 29th and was charge for the whole month. From the time I signed the contract forward they blew up my phone with calls and messages 3 times a day harassing me to activate my account but I had too many priorities to activate the account for about 2 weeks. The onslought of phone calls continued and then I got a letter in the mail telling me that if I did not activate my account or return the $2.00 MADE IN CHINA iphone card reader that they were going to charge my business checking account $400.00. Reluctantly and regretfully I activated the account on the 29th of august. After I was charged the 29.12 for the previous months service fee I contacted the
Sr. Sales Manager Sammy Wilson who promised me on the phone to refund these charges within 10 day. I sent numberous emails contacting Sammy Wilson and told him I wanted to cancel the account and he said he would take care of the cancellation but refused to replay or answer any of my further daily phone calls. 1 month later this company customer service representative contacted me to investigate the matter and requested that I send her a copy of the contract and emails that I had send to Mr. Wilson. I found it amusing that she wanted me to waste my time to give here something that she could get withing her own organization. Customer service refused to reimberse me the $21.12 for a month of service that was not provided, and they refused to reimberse the $95.00 or the subsequent overdraft fees cause by these undisclosed and unathourized charges. Out of the kindness of their heart they waived the early termination fee for breaking a 3 YEAR Contract and told me they did nothing wrong. The customer service representive told me that in the fine print of the contract that it clearly states that NOTHING verbal by the sales people or the Managment is binding. Which means they have found a way to lie to your face, hide the important charges that are contrary to what they tell you verbally so they can pick your pockets and actually charge you more than your current merchant services provider for THREE YEARS. Run away if anyone from Summit Merchant Services or American Payment Processing Systems somehow connected to Fifth Third Bank knocks at your door.
I have over $270.00 in bank fees for nothing but trusting a smooth talking sales person who will not return my calls.

Summit Merchant Solutions credit card processing

In the month of December I received a phone call from a sales represenative by the name of Shakeya Taylor while speaking with her she informed me that i was elgible for a upgrade on my credit card terminal I said ok what were the requirements and so forth. Shakeya then went on to describe to me about how much money I will be saving a month and how convinant the terminal would become for me and that all i had to do was fill out another contract in order to receive the new credit card terminal and I could get started right away. Being that i had renewed my contract with Merchant Summit before i had my old terminal for five years and s long as I kept my agreement in using their department fro processing fees and so forth i was told that i would have already paid for my machine in full by being bound to contract. I later received contract and sent the contract back into they company in a couple of days received the machine. Now the whole entire time this contract and product was explained to me no one ever explained to me about a lease and having to pay 4000 sum of dollars for any type of machine why would I do that when I have a free already so anyhow the machine got set up shortly after Christmas around December the 28 2012. When i received statements and monthly fees along with an American Express fee just came all to mind about how did i ever get a fee for American Express or a leasing fee I am bewildered at this time So I then go to call and get in contact with ms shakeya taylor I was transferred to her with absolutely no problem. At this time she went onto telling me of how she understood how I felt and she apologize and how I needed to get in contact with Lease financing Company and they would be able to assist me on this new information to me contract. So after i spoke with her i then called Lease financing company located 65 E Wacker Place, Suite 510 Chicago Illinois 60601. Phone number [protected]. I then met with Jerry who told me that I was being toy around with Shakeya knew that I was going to try and get back in contact with her so she made herself unavailable for me I ve tried calling her all day Tuesday 01 08 2013. I then spoke with four different representatives due to the lack of customer service. I spoke with MelissamJadiere and Pedore who informed me about speaking to their account specialist department. So I the asked to speak with a supervisor for the record and he told me that h would give me a call back and also look into the matter concerning this misrepresentation of contract I then allowed him to know that I would be doing a follow up on this with the better business bureau because time is of the essence and due to the timing of contract is still quite premature because its only two weeks into contract and I wanted this recorded and resolved for the termination of contract that I am not bound to because I was mislead by their sales rep and very very poor representation of her sale.

Summit Merchant Solutions deceptive practices

Summit Merchant Solutions is a deceptive and misleading company. They bury financial commitments in their 30 page "binding contract" that their salesmen deny the company having. They have deceived me three times in the last 8 months, and have cost me a tremendous amount of money. Don't let this happen to you.

1) Summit debited my checking account for $ 124.75 without notifying me or acquiring my authorization. They referenced Page 9 Paragraph 3 as their right to do this.
"CPP may make available a PCI DSS compliance program through a third-party. CPP shall have the
right to charge an annual PCI fee of no less than $124.75 whether or not Merchant participates in
the program."

2) When I chose Summit as my credit card processing company, it was on the conditon that I was not locked into any contract. I was opening a new business and was not guaranteed that I would make it. When I was forced to close my business, I called Summit to cancel the service. I was told I would have to pay $595.00 in penalties for breaking the "binding contract". When I told them I was not under a contract with them, they referenced Page 4 Paragraph 4 as their right to do this.
"Any lease agreement is a separate agreementand not subject to the Terms & Conditions of this
Agreement. Additionally, any lease agreement cannot be cancellled. If this Agreement is not
cancelled within the thirty day cancellation period, then this Agreement shall continue in full force
and effect for a term of (3) years from approval by Bank and is subject to an early termination fee of
no less than $495.00."
I referenced the Lease Agreement in the contract (which was an agreement to lease their equipment)where I had declined the lease agreement and purchased my equipment outright, and again stipulated that I was under no "binding long-term contract" with them, per my conversation and agreement with their sales rep. They responded with "they did not interpret that paragraph as referring to the Lease Agreement of the equipment". I told them that was not how I interpreted that paragraph and asked them what other Lease Agreement in their contract did I sign (of which there is none) and they once again reminded me I was under a "binding contract with them and they would immediately debit my checking account for $595.00 if I chose to cancel." When I asked them why they were charging me $595.00 instead of $495.00, they referenced the "no less than.." clause, saying they could charge any fee they wanted as long as it was not less than the $495.00. They then told me if I chose not to cancel, they would continue billing me over $50.00/month for "minimum maintenance fees", regardless of the fact that I was not doing a single transaction with them anymore. They justified this action from Page 2 Section "Other Fees":
"Annual Fee $95.00 per year"... which was waived on the contract
"Monthly minimum $25.00 per month"... they told me they were now charging me $30.00/month
"Green Option Fee (on-line statement) $7.50 per month"... they are now charging me $8.50/month
"Access Fee $2.00 per month"...they are now charging me $10.00/month
" Regulatory Compliance Fee $3.42 per month"...they are now charging me $5.95/month
I asked them why, if I was under a "binding contract", were they charging me more than I agreed to. They referred me to another paragraph somewhere in the contract that gave them the authority to "raise their rates as needed." I asked them since they raised the rates in April (again without any notification to me whatsoever), when were they planning on raising their rates again. Their response was "probably October.", again referencing the "paragraph" that allows them to "raise their rates as needed".

I once again told them that their salesman had agreed to and assured me I was under a non-binding contract with Summit. Their response..."We do not honor any verbal contracts. You have a legally binding written contract with us and that is all we will discuss."

This is a very deceptive and misleading company who has full access to all my monies in my checking account, and clearly has no issue in taking whatever they want whenever they want and I can't stop them.

Summit Merchant Solutions customers beware

After being scammed out of high processing fees and under contract with this company for the past five years I had requested to cancel my contract with them as the date to cancel was approaching. They made it almost impossible to do so. They were very unprofessional, rude and almost every call with any support or customer service, you get disconnected after being on hold for 30+ minutes. I wished I had read and researched all the complaints from the customers, sales associates and fly by employees that got rippd off by this company before I signed a contract with them. To anyone looking for a great payment processing company…Intuit GoPayment is sooo easy to use and really affordable. The rates start at around 1.7% per transaction and it’s pay as you go, no contract deal. They provide you with a free card reader. Beware of this company. After reading about this company I have also found that they have about 10 other names.

No, I'm afraid they have managed to pull some more money out of my bank account through automatic withdraw. I sent their processing machine back to them to avoid the cost to keep it and they thought they would just cgarge me for it anyway because they can. I have recently notified my bank to stop all drafts from them but not sure if it will help or not.

I was just charged $675.00 because I closed my bank account before paying my final bill drafted of $25.42 (we had a transfer of business ownership). They said that I had defaulted on the contract-even though I explained that we had been trying to cancel the account for months, but were given 20 different pieces of information from each representative, and their system made it impossible to get proper information from anyone. We have had 5 accounts with them for 4 years and this is how they treat their good customers.
Absolutely a terrible company. I don't that there is anything I can do at this point but pay the fee, as they have turned it into collections in less than 30 days.

Summit Merchant Solutions bait and switch, broken verbal agreements, fraud

Here is a copy of the letter sent to them.

Summit Merchant Solutions
100 Throckmorton Street Ste 1800
Fort Worth, TX 76102

We would like to terminate our contract with Summit Merchant Solutions effective immediately. We signed up for your services on February 24, 2011 with E H****n. He called D P***, sales supervisor, many times during our meeting for clarifications and approvals. After filling out the contract in its entirety, we were told there was an error on page 2. Mr. H****n went to his vehicle to get a second contract. He changed the terms of our agreement from no annual fee to an annual fee of $99.95. We were assured by Mr. H****n and Mr. P*** that this was necessary for processing the contract and that we would not be charged the annual fee. I spoke to Mr. P*** myself and asked him several times to verify that we would not be charged an annual fee. We were charged the fee anyway. When we called to ask why, we were told it was in the contract. We were refunded the $99.95 and were told it was to waive the activation fee. We were also told this by Mr. H***** when he put it on Page 6 of the contract. During the course of my phone call with D******, I was asked to fax a copy of the original page 2, which I did. We received a call back later that day. We were told that our contract says we have to pay the annual fee. I asked for D P*** and was told he was busy. I asked for him to return my call and was told that he would. He never did. I called and left him a voice message asking him to please return my phone call. He never did. I called again today and asked to speak to his supervisor and was told that he was in the breakroom.

I was put on hold to be transferred to Merchant support and was disconnected. I called directly and spoke with Dawn who listened to my list of complaints with a very patient ear. I told her about Mr. H***** informing us that Summit would take care of switching over our account. We just received a bill from our previous card processor. That is when we realized it is our responsibility to close the other account. That is not what we were told. D*** offered to refund the charges. I told her we only want to be done with Summit. She apologized and connected me to K******. K****** listened to my whole story AGAIN. He put me on hold so he could read our termination terms. When he came back on the line, I was told that we could terminate our account for a fee of $495 and a letter requesting termination. Please consider this our letter of termination. We will pay the $495 fee to be done with Summit Merchant Solutions. In our opinion this contract was never handled in a professional manner and we should not have to pay to end it. We were given the option to cancel within 30 days in my contract. Unfortunately, none of these things came to light until after the 30 days had passed.

Summit Merchant Solutions salesperson is crazy

Justin Mitchell came into my business trying to sell Summit Merchant Solutions credit card processing. My reply was "I am not intested thank you" He tried again, again I replied "I am not intested thank you. Then he told me I was unprofessional and If I wanted to be sued for not listening to his information and left muttering under his breath. This is a person who when asked for his I.D. didn't want to show it and when asked for his companies telephone number info refused to give it to us. Yet he thought we would give him access to our bank account. I have been in retail my whole life and I have never seen such a bad and rude salesperson.

a complete and total idiot Justin Mitchell is. Nobody deserves to be disrespect like he has done to many of the merchants in my town. He is lucky he isn't in jail YET. Mr. Mitchel went in to a local pizza shop and told them he was saving them money and actually raised all of their rate ACTUALLY RAISED them. I know this for a fact. HE is a SCAMMER trying to line his pockets. Sale Consultant? He doesn't even know how to read a statement. ONE of the store owners son knows him very well, and Mr. Mitchell also has a bad bad habit of growing large quanities of Marajuan in his house and selling crack/cociane as well. This boy defines waste of society. He has very few friends due to his social disorders. knowone can stand this kid. I'm supporting crazy sale guy all the way. He needs major help. So maybe this rep Justin Pissed you off! I'm sure he wasn't the first or last sales rep or even the last human being to piss you off besides this petty feeling that stopped you from understanding the real meaning of his call you should think about some of the liability's you Carrie as a merchant credit card processing account holder the customer data you swipe on your terminal is likely not protected with the latest PCI DSS standards that are now mandatory from the Payment Card industry and worst case you could be sued by your own customers and fined by the industry who helps you receive the payment method your customers prefer people now a days do prefer to not pay with cash expectational on ticket items larger than a couple hundred dollars for many good reasons and if you were acting rude and offended and were truel'y not "interested" than what did you need his info for? maybe so you could smear his name and tear him and the company down out of complete ignorance maybe he was smart enough to recognize this also your bank account info is for the company's approval process and shows a true commitment from you as a customer and don't forget with out that info you cant get payed for your transactions/sales and your retail experience has noting to do with credit card processing services, fee's or equipment and in the larger view of things retail sales is mostly glorified order taking not even comparable to cold call merchant services consulting/sales so don't use your ego to Justify your ignorant point of view!

Summit Merchant Solutions false advertising

a salesman from summit came in our salon and promised to pay early termination fees if we switched to them for our credit card customers. we did. i was a not the main name on the service, so was not intitled to my full refund of $500.00. of course, the salesman did not inform me of that. i was a booth renter and used the same machine. that is the only information i found out from summit. i called numerous times to speak to someone and got nowhere. the salesman, of course, had quit. i talked to him, and all he could tell me is he was authorized by summit to give us all our money back from previous bank. he told me who i should call at summit. to no avail. i had cancelled service with them, early. i left the salon. they were still charging me. now i am dealing with acollection agency. summit should be charged with fraud. it is obviuos from comments, they are a very shady company. i do not feel i owe them a thing, and want this issue resolved. i would call them, but will get nowhere. patricia leach

well Patrica! who are you to comment when the agreement was not yours in the first place? So it sounds like your complaining on some one Else's behalf when you don't know all the facts, so don't post accusations on the internet when you truly don't know all the facts. Additionally summit pays an early termination fee refund of $250. Any other expect is likely covers within the first few moths of savings. It is not summits fault you left the salon early, i know that your job is very personalized but at the end of the day it is a business and you still had the option of transferring your agreement to a new salon, these are things you can talk to about with your sales rep or the customer retention department that would have been a better option than canceling and owing money to the collection company's too bad you did not use that option. yours truly! Sounds like you got a green sales rep that didn't know his stuff-as evidenced by his "no longer working there".
Summit pays up to $250.00 for any Early Termination fee, the sales rep should not have told you different.
I f you canceled your contract in the first 30 days, you should owe nothing. After that, you would owe an ETF since Summit paid YOU $250.00 and paid the sales rep some $$, and spent hours setting up your account, doing credit checks, setting up ACH with your bank, etc.

Sounds to me like you were just trying to use Summit to get out of/pay off your ETF with the previous provider so you could walk away from everything. Did you really think you could get a company to pay off your Termination Fees ($500) just so you could cancel with them after just a few months? They pay off your $250-$500 and you pay them $25-$50 for a couple months fees then you skate? Seriously?

Summit Merchant Solutions visa mastercard processing

The sales person Paul Simmons was aggresive and very unprofessional. He was on the phone( with a ear plug) getting instructions/sales pitch from his boss while he was talking to me. He did not disclose that he was on the phone until I realised it. When I told him that I was not aware that thier company has a 3 year contract to set-up a processing account, and I do not wish to sign-up because of this 3 year contract he got agitated and started arguing with me. I have been in business for 20 years. I know the difference between a good company and a bad one. It is not just about the sales person I believe this company does not operate with good business ethics. Stay away from them if you can!

Ok maybe Paul Simmions was a Jerk! obviously people only buy from whom they like and trust no matter how much better his deal was and with a company as large and successful a summit merchant solutions you likely would have ended up with an all around better deals besides that what doe's the 3 year processing agreement matter check your current processing agreement i guarantee you that it is at least 3 years or longer and there are only 2 possible scenarios were early termination of summit's agreement or your current processing company's agreement would cause you to loose money first one is if you switch to a new processor and they don't save you any money on your rates witch will make up for any extra of witch there prior processor termination fee refund does not cover IE. there refund is $250 and the early termination penalty from your old processing company is $300 it cost you the $50 extra with a independent direct processing company like Summit you will likely save more than the measly $50 in the first month second you shut your business down within the 3 year agreement and you pay the early termination fee summit likely not only saved you more than the termination fee but actual helped you earn new customers and increase your average ticket witch make's you money! bet your current company doesn't talk to you about this they just take your money and run Lol! lastly your 20 years of merchant business experience doesn't mean any thing when it comes to a processing company's rates fee's services, products and 49 different terms and condition's of witch you know nothing about so don't assume a company has bad business ethics when you don't know the first thing about Paul or the company it's people like you who want to tear every one and every thing down with limited or absolutely no knowledge of the facts this doesn't help any one in the process next time keep your two cents in your pocket! I signed a contract with summitt merchant and i regret it to the fullest. If you are looking for a credit card merchant save yourself a headache and do not sign on with them. The creditcard terminal i purchased is horrible it shuts down and has to be rebooted about every other day. Sometimes it takes debit sometimes it doesn't! i won't even get into how many checks it declined that were really good. I have been calling this company complaining for over 3 months now. Everytime i spoke to a supervisor i was told i would have to purchase another machine as if i had broken it. I finally talked to a supervisor with some sense(3 months after the fact) and he offered to send me out another machine and pinpad with no charge as long as i send the others back. I recieved the machine and do you believe the pinpad was not working. One minute it was 5 minutes later it wasn't. When i called to let them know i needed another one i was told since it was working right at that moment they could not send me another one ignoring the fact that i had called in that day about 5 times when it wasn't working. The supervisor that sent it out Bryon Bayer gave me his direct extention, but i haven't been able to reach him since he gave it to me. Everytime i try to get to him i am told he's in a meeting. SUMMITT MERCHANT IN MY OPINION IS THE WORST CREDIT CARD MERCHANT YOU COULD EVER CHOOSE. If you decide to go with this company you might as well put a sign on the front door that says WE TAKE CREDITCARDS SOMETIMES. Oh yeah a sales rep was suppose to be coming by from Summitt to see if they were overcharging us on our rates(WHICH THEY ARE) but she has failed to show also. The machine we purchased from them is a merchantpro 4500x.
After checking around with other credit card merchants(Flagship Merchant Services, Merchant Warehouse, go Emerchant who are rated as 3 of the top ten) had never heard of this terminal. I am currently closing my account with Summitt unfortunately i have to pay almost $700.00 to do so, but it will be well worth the money to get rid of this headache.

Sincerely Debra Thomas of Thomas Tire Repair

Summit Merchant Solutions business savvy

I am in the process of quitting summit for many reasons, but that is not what this is about I am taking what I now know and giving it to all of you. Summit likes small and medium business mainly because these people don't know business they only know the products they sell.

I hold a degree in finance and E-commerce, and i am going back for my MBA. My concentration has always been numbers and analytics, so when go to these companies and I am talking with the owner (on rare occasions) their eyes would glaze over and stare at me. They would say leave your rates.

I would call my supervisor and he would tell me no we can't leave rates, get them to sign and leave application book with them and send me the rest. It has just hit me that we are dealing with these people because they don't know how to analyze numbers quickly and Summit wants people to make big financial decisions in very little time. This is not good for the business owner, summit is preying on ignorance and it is terrible.

AS A PERSON WHO CARES FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESS WHERE THE OWNER HAS EVERYTHING ON THE LINE I URGE YOU NOT TO GO WITH THIS COMPANY IT IS TERRIBLE, CORRUPT, EVIL, MALICIOUS, SCAMFUL, AND A LIAR. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

Please do not use Summit Merchant Solutions for your credit card processing. This company is the kiss of death for a small business! The rep came to my store and asked for my business. He promised competitive rates and no contract. As a brand new business owner eager to start processing credit cards, I was an easy target. Essentially he lied to me and roped me into a 3 year contract. Of course, when I tried to find the rep, he was no longer with the company and I was told that they had problems with him misguiding customers. Shame on me...I signed the contract. I honored my commitment and paid their ridiculous fees for the full three years.

After the contract ended, I looked for an honest company. When another company, Ameribanc, asked for my business, I checked them out and decided that they were competitive, honest, and didn't require a contract. I called Summit to tell them to hit the road and got another nasty surprise...they automatically renew your contract every year on your anniversary date. If you don't notify them in writing 90 days before the end of your current contract, your theirs for another year! And it's not just 90 days before...they have a very small window of only a few weeks during the year that they will allow you to give notice. Miss the small window and you're stuck with them for another year!

Not only do they do their best to hold onto you for eternity, they continue to raise fees every year to boot. I don't process a single transaction through these thieves, and I pay $43 each month in fees. I get hit with a compliance fee of over $100 every February, too. My current processor, Ameribanc, doesn't charge a compliance fee.

Please avoid Summit at all costs! I wish someone had warned me.

first off your MBA has nothing to do with the sales process so keep your ego out of it! second summit specializes in small businesses because any local sales rep cant just walk in to a major corporation and talk to a CEO but you can easily walk into Joe's business on main street introduce your self and overcome his natural objections your team leader doesn't want you leaving rates behind for these reasons one is to save you from being rate shopped second the discount rate is only one small aspect of the total monthly processing charge's and the discount rate alone is not an appeals to appeals comparison so its not fair to the merchant or your sales carrier to just go quoting discount rates when there has been no value or commitment to earn there business established also what good is the price tag when the merchant doesn't even understand what the product or service is going to do for them! and yes your wright the merchant doesn't know how to read rates that was your job as a sales professional/leader to quickly educate them build value and trust threw your clear and simple understanding of processing rates and fees lastly summit is the only company in the industry to have a 30 day trial so the decision is not made very quickly by the merchant obviously you failed as a sales person sham on you! the ignorant remarks you make only confuse merchants and make it harder for real sales professional to earn a living thanks for nothing!

obviously you are new to this business. You NEVER leave rates. Why, because the merchant will just call his existing provider and have them match your rates. You do all the foot work so the existing company can do what they should have done in the first place, offer decent rates. And you get paid ZERO.

You should stick with analyzing numbers for a salary, because sales is not for you. If all you are giving the merchant is cheaper rates, then go work for Walmart. There is a lot to this biz besides cheap rates. How about warranting their existing equipment, or next day funding, or transaction security, or extremely fast customer service? What good are the lowest rates if your machine is broke and it takes 15-20 minutes to get a live human on the phone? What good are those rate sheets if someone STEALS the merchants machine and starts making refunds to pre-paid cards out of his checking account? What good is a rate sheet when you have to wait 5-7 days for your deposits?

Give them a rate sheet and all you'll get is "my current guy can match that". Give them better service, quicker deposits, a more reliable terminal, features they didn't have before (like gift cards, or check processing), warranty their existing terminal-next day, offer pin-based debit (if they do lots of $50+ transactions), offer better reporting, customized receipts, etc. etc. THEN talk about rates, and you'll often get a Merchant that is happy he met you and signed with you even if he is paying a few pennies more.

Summit Merchant Solutions bank account rip-off

A sales rep from this company came and offered a low percentage rate on a credit card machine, a rate promised of 1.39%, needless to say it is all lies. This company has managed to run us out of business with a whopping 5 + percentage. They take fees out on every card swipe then take fees out of the bank acct. Also. Then to top it all off they promised to pay off the company that was handling my machine, but they didn"t so I also a being charged their fees also. So if that in"t a true scam I don"t know what would be.

Do NOT do business with this company. They will promise you free gift cards and then your bank account will have a fee of $7.95. They will sell you a credit card machine that they can not program, yet they will start charging your bank account for the monthly statement fee. They will not refund your money for a credit card machine that they sold to you and could not get to work. Do not believe their sales people. They are not trained properly and will promise you things that the company will not stand behind. Their customer service is a mixed bag of very rude and just a few helpful considerate individuals. If you do decide to do business with them make sure that everything is up and running and that the charges are correct before the 30 day grace period. Otherwise you will have a battle on your hands to get out of the $695.00 early termination fee, regardless if you are being overcharged or in my case they couldn't get the equipment that they sold me up and running. My advice is to stay clear! I'm a small business owner and there are more reputable credit card services out there.

ok, toc, please respond to this comment for me. did you look at your contract after you signed it? did it say specifically 1.39% or was it different? the sales rep could have changed that on you without you knowing. i am really sorry that happened to you, but not everyone is like that.

about summit merchant solutions
sales guy told me i would get better rates that current company. had to pay a 50 application fee. they said i get a 30 day trial where i could cancel with no penalty. i didnt get my first statement until well after 30 days(obviously) and this is when i find out:
1.i am paying way higher rates due to some fine print.
2. there is a almost $600 early termination fee ( which i was no longer eligible for)
3. they were willing to do nothing about the deception of the sales guy (stating that we must go by the contract you signed)
4. the sales guy no longer works for them.

there is many more things that irritate me but i am weary of phone call s and typing . just thought all should be warned of this company. so no i am paying almost double my old rates and am stuck with this company for 3 years.

I make all my transactions with Blue Pay Merchant Solutions (Bill Fricke is my sales representative) and they have saved my company thousands of dollars over the last two years. Costs depend on whether you have the card in your physical possession or the card holder gives an authorization form to run the transaction. Point of sale costs less than not having the physical card in your possession when making these transactions. Blue Pay helps my firm with American Express (a little higher rate), Mastercard, Visa and Discover.

this is a ridiculous smear of a proven company and i will clearly explain why! A low Discount rate is a positive thing for all businesses who have a high average ticket of say $100 or more because they general have a high ticket verses low swipes oh! the company ruining you out of your business so called "summit merchant solutions" with a track record of 20 years plus 40K active accounts with 3Billion processing volume in a market this competitive as payment processing is crazy!to call a rip off maybe some other factors and poor destination caused your small business to crash any ways if your effective/bottom line rate was 5% then there were two reasons one you added the price of your equipment witch is mostly a tax wright off and a separate charge / agreement and or you had other variable's involved like low processing volume ie less than 1k per month that will off set your effective/bottom line rate this can easily be corrected with consultation of your local rep or customer retention department also a small average ticket like $20 causes the transaction fee to eat up the low discount rate and when it comes to surcharges ie mid or non- qual.. charges summit has the most competitive in the industry because they are not only a direct processes they are and independent direct processes so when "dat boy!" from the previous comment who obviously favors the "local bank" says "stay with your local bank" he did not disclose that your "local bank" is a "middle Man" that form's large profit sharing alliances with direct processing company's similar but different from summit merchant solutions those direct processors are not independent because they rely on the bank who is a large local/national organization when summit employs local rep's to sell there exclusive/viable service so who would you rater process your money with? A large middle man bank/organization who was likely bailed out with your own tax money. Or an local rep trying to earn a honest living working for a direct source! Its a no brainier wright? Unless you don't understand the basic principle's and or trust/like your local rep so you make the decision with the facts, what decision will you! make?

I work for a merhant service group and see this all the time. Unfortunately these companies hire ISO's and they will do or say anything at times to sell an account. I see in another complaint on this company that the merchant actually got to speak to the rep again and that is uncommon although it seems he never resolved the issue. It is most of the time best to go with y0ur bank if they do the processing themselves and be wary of leases most you cannot cancel for any reason. It is always best to purchase a machine that is compatible with most any processor not one that is proprietory to one provider so you can change and use that same machine in most cases. Contracts are common 3 years most of the time but sometimes you can negotiate a 1 year contract. Depending the business - retail stores I would say 1.85% and 20-25 cents per transaction is good but always ask about your mid and non qualified charges these should be in a range of 0.70 - 0.80% for mid qualified and 1.10 -1.25% on non qualified charges. Always check the company online and do your homework so you ask all the right questions and get EVERYTHING in writing up front prior to signing anything. I have see were if you sign on this line you are automatically agreeing to a lease on equipment and it does not disclose that in the contract anywhere except in fine print on the bottom of that page or in another section if it states, for instance, see page 12 line 15 .

Summit Merchant Solutions untrue information upon contract signing

We were unaware of the compleate contract signed and all its conditions. I have spoken with the rep that sold us the credit card machine, and he no longer works there because he was also fed the untruth. Savage Kreations would not have gone with Summit Merchant Solutions if we were explained all the facts about the contracts conditions. I am looking to terminate my position at Savage Kreations Salon, and am now stuck in a 3yr contract or outragious termination fee with Summit which was not explained in full detail. The gentelman that sold us the equiptment, was under the same understanding as he irriterated to the staff at Savage Kreations, and now has left Summit employment because he was being miscommunicated to by the management at Summit Merchant Solutions. All I want is to be out of my contract and no more headachs of future communication with Summit. Owner of Savage Kreations and rep that sighned us up with the contract are willing to geve their input upon request. What can you do to help us?

That's real professional Jeremy, I work for a processing company that allows be to sign up merchants without A Contract and no Terminations fees. I do this because that's want the merchant deserves. And I gain their trust and respect. And by they way I have never had a merchant switch to another processing company. I've been doing this four four years with the same company! I can tell you never ran a business and if you are a sales rep for summit I can see why merchants are complaining..

Summit Merchant Solutions unfair & deceptive practices, extortion & racketeering

Summit Merchant Solutions
100 Throckmorton Street, Suite 1800
Fort Worth, Texas 76102
Phone #:
Sales rep: John Hendricks (Minnesota)
Customer service: Juan (fort Worth)
[protected]

On [protected] I met with John Hendricks (minnesota sales rep) on behalf of my company to discuss obtaining a new credit card processing company, Summit Merchant Solutions, location was Zimmerman, MN. John and I sat thru a meeting about an hour long and went over the details of their policies, fees and credit card transaction process as well as terminal leasing details for the Hypercom Blade Credit card processing terminal (wireless).

At that meeting john did a comparison of the fees I was paying thru our current credit card processing company and saw that I could save between $16 and $32 month in processing fees. Our volume average was about $1200 per month in processing with a low of about $200 and a high processing amount of about $1800.

He stated that the charges I would incur were a .05 cent per transaction fee, somewhere between 1.39% and 1.75% Card processing fee, .20cent per batch fee, a $59.99 + tax terminal lease fee, a $5.00 Statement fee, and a $2.00 card "processing fee". I asked John numerous times if that's all that were would be charged and nothing more. He stated that "he's an honest guy and there those charges would be final and no hidden charges like the other companies". On 4-30-09, I wrote out a check for $20.00 to open the account upon approval. I asked john when the thirty days starts and he stated it started when we activated our terminal. He also stated that ALL charges would come out of the account around the 1st to the 3rd of every month. He also stated that he was 100% sure. According to our transaction summary, the test transaction to Summit Merchant solutions was on May 15th, 2009activating the account. I also confirmed this with the Summit Merchant rep and John also, both were on the line during activation. So according to our sales rep, the 30 days should be up on June 15th, 2009.

On may 15, 2009, I told john that there were missing parts in the box as we were on the phone together. The missing parts were the mobile car charger for the “wireless unit” and the mounting base for the tow truck. Also at that time, the power cord for the charging base was defective and the Summit Merchant rep activating the terminal stated that it would be sent out as well. On May 16th, 2009, I received the charging cord for the base but still no car charger or mounting base. I then called john and asked him what the problem was. He told me to call summit merchant help line and they stated that there was no such product. I called John back and he stated there was as promised and that he would get that ordered immediately.

On 05/22/0229, we received an unauthorized ACH automatic with drawl in the amount of $68.80 from our checking account. I once again called John to ask what had happened. He stated that he’d check into the problem. I called Summit merchant solutions and they stated that the $68.80 charge was the lease payment and that I’d have to call the leasing company. So I did just that. When I talked to them they said that there was extra charges ($59.95 for the terminal, $4.95 for insurance, $3.90 Tax) for insurance and that it would NOT come out on the 1st to the 3rd of every month. I called John back and asked about the charges. He stated that he’d once again take care of it and call back. I got a call back with John telling me that I could change that date and that he had no clue why there was insurance on the unit. He wasn’t aware of that extra charge. I called the leasing company and they stated that there was NO way to change the date of that payment or take away the insurance charge.

On 05-26-2009, we received another charge from Summit Merchant solutions. I once again called John Hendricks. He said that he had no clue as to what that charge was and that he had to call his supervisor. He did apparently. He said that the charge was a mistake for the “car charger”, which I was told by Summit Merchant that they didn’t have. John once again, said that they would get that reversed. Till the date of this letter above, it has not been reversed.

On 05-27-2009, I called Summit Merchant Solutions to ask what all the charges were about and when they would come out of my account and what would come out of my account. She stated that there was a $25 minimum fee that would come out. John NEVER told me about this, They told me about the credit card processing fee, the $5 month statement fee, the .05 cent per transaction fee and then of course my percentage minimum fee that would be charged at the end of the month. We had two surprise charges that John NEVER told us about now. The $25/month minimum and the $5 per month insurance fee. Also the rep from Summit had told us that they always take the settlement fee at the lowest approved rate out first and then at the end of the month, they take out any difference if there was any. John NEVER told us about this. This conversation lasted about an hour and I asked if there was ANYTHING else I should know about numerous times. She stated that covered absolutely everything! I called John to tell him what I had found out. He stated that it was wrong and he’d once again call his supervisor. He called back and stated that they would take care of it once again. As of June 9th, the date of this letter, nothing has been done about it.

On 06-03-2009, we had yet another charge in an un authorized amount come out of the account in the amount of $38.03. I called Summit Merchant Solutions first this time. They had stated that there was a “Wireless Fee” fee that we had never herd of. And also that there were some charges that were wrong and that would be credited back to the account, yet again. I called John about this problem. He stated that there was not wireless fee and that he’d never herd of that fee before and would take care of it yet again. I was livid and gave him 24 hours to get it all fixed. He also stated that the Car charger and the wireless terminal mount were shipped a week and a half ago. We have seen nothing.

On June 5th, 2009, we called to cancel our contract which according to John was with in our time frame to do so. He didn’t answer all day that Friday. We called again on Saturday June 6th, no answer, We tried again on June 8th, 2009, No answer, and we left messages.

On June 8th, 2009, I called into Summit Merchant Solutions to cancel the account and talked to a guy named Juan in the “top level” customer service. He stated that there were errors, that I was told many incorrect things about our account and that we couldn’t cancel the contract with out a $495.00 fee because the account went into effect on may 5th, 2009. I told him that our rep told us different. He stated that he’s not responsible for what the sales reps tell us during the sale. I explained everything that John had told us and what had happened. He looked at the charges and noticed many errors and that he’d try and see what he could do. He said that he reversed some charges but that was incorrect because they haven’t hit our account. He also stated that there were so many problems, errors, and problems, that it would take him three days to check it all out and for me to call back on June 11th.

On June 9th, 2009, we finally got a hold of John. He said that on Friday June 5th, he was out with his kid at some boy scout camp and he wasn’t answering the phone. Moreover, according to Summit Merchant, that was the last day we could cancel. Everything is still wrong with the account. Summit Merchant Solutions & John Hendricks are accused of false and misleading sales & practices and breach of contract, fraud in taking unauthorized ACH money transfers out of our banking account. Extortion and Racketeering as well as unfair & deceptive business practices.

I read this post, and the sales bullsh-t sounded so much like mine... promises, promises. Turns into a nightmare shortly into it. Turns into a horror story when you try to end it. They "lose" communications, they deny, and then they employ people who just try to talk over you, are rude and condesending, and try to completely dominate the conversation.

This company has to be one of the worst ever that I have dealt with in over 45 years in business!

I was closing up the business in May/June 2018 and ran into the $108/month fee for the last few months. (The "contract" ended on Aug 31, 2018.) Sent the required emails and etc to them. I was assured there was NO further obligations after Sept 1. To avoid a $400 termination fee, I just chose to let the contract run to the end of August. Saved 1 or 2 hundred.

Anyway, I closed my facilities up in August, closed my email/website. I thought I would have all my emails and addresses from the host. Nope. All that stuff disappeared also. So I couldn't get my emails proving their acceptance of my ending the contract in a timely manner.

I have paid way, WAY too much to these thieves! AFTER Sept 2018 they STILL kept withdrawing $108 per month from my bank account. Stupid me, I thought they would quit when they saw there had been ZERO activity on the account for over 5 months. Nope. Didn't get their attention until my bank refused to honor their withdrawals.

BTW .. notice how most companies have a phone number embedded into an auto-withdrawal? (At least with my bank.) Not these people/crooks. Finally went to my bank to find out the phone number. She said it looks like a CC service company. They were very helpful and not only shut them down from accessing my account, but did a stop payment on a previous payment!

A typical small business is much, MUCH better off with something like a Square account! No surprises, no long term contracts, simple and predictable with a number of other services I might yet take advantage of.

"Summit Merchant Solutions" is just a misleading, deceptive company that, EVEN WHEN YOU FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS, will lose stuff and then keep fraudulently withdrawing funds from your bank account. If you are a small business owner avoid these crooks like a plague! If you are a $million a month company, this might work. But whatever, run it past your lawyer/accountant first.

I got lied to as well. Silly me. I've been in business for 25 yrs. a hand shake and your word goes a long way with our business. This company flat out lied many times over. My problems are like many of the other complaints Except I never got next day funding. My money is supposed to be in the bank the next day, not two or three days later. In the boat business this is a big deal. sometimes it's thousands of dollars for the engine rebuild. It's been three months now after copious phone calls and endless faxes nothing has changed. And the rates that I pay are more then I was told Also they keep charging me the PCI noncompliant fee which I have complied many times I found this site because it's 3 o'clock in the morning and I woke up thinking I should report them to the Better Business Bureau which I have never done to any business in my life and I'm in my 50s This goes to show how unethical this company is. He should be taken to court

This company is the worst, everything that this guy writes about is still happening this day. We were scammed out of our hard earned money. After reading many complaints from this company, I believe they train their employees to flat out LIE to its customers. They make their contract so long that it would take weeks to read it, and they do that on purpose. The salesperson scratches out all these charges telling you that you won't be charged this, and you won't be charged that. That is exactly what our sales person did, She just flat out lied, and of course we were told just like the guy above when we called customer service, that they can not go by what the salesperson did or said, or scratched out. I have NEVER EVER put one transaction through this machine, and I am getting charged 61.40 a month for two years. The only charge that has been put through this machine was by the sales rep, and she did it before I had all my supplies, even when I told her not to. She new it would activate my now 15 day cancellation policy. I never go all my supplies sent to me within the 15 days, and still could not cancel. I would love to meet the owner of this horrible company face to face.. I still have almost a year to go on this POS contract, if anyone knows a legal way to get out of it, please let me know, I can be reach at bicebiz@gmail.com Thanks. On another note, those sales people up above that are selling this horrible product, SHAME on you, you know what you are selling, and you are dishonest and are just as bad as the company. You as well as the company are stealing from people. PS I have since closed my business due to health reasons, and am STILL paying for it.

This company has indeed engaged in unethical practices. I am in Michigan and it's happened here too. This company should be stopped and its license to operate as an Independent Sales Organization with Visa and MasterCard should be revoked, and the owners be fined and prosecuted and black listed with no opportunity to be in this business and the company to shut down. Their processors, First American Payment Systems, and their sponsoring bank, Fifth Third, should step in and do something about this. I ask any merchant with information to call me directly so I could help them out. My name is Alex and my number is [protected].

A scam and a rip off are two different things because a killer finds a loophole in the system does that make it ok? I should have known better because they would not give me answers on any product or price questions as a sales rep. SO THEY WANT THEIR SALES REPS TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE PRODUCTS? Weird! They sent me to a business that was not at the address they gave me and after a 40 min drive to get there said well don't worry something came up for the business owner and you can go back latter drive another 40 min the other direction in two hours for another umm do I dare say apt. I guess they don't know about gas prices in TEXAS and that you can't drive like the bird flies (as he put it) in the mountains here in North Carolina.

I was just solicited by Summit merchant solutions in Central NY. The sales girl was nice enough but kind of awkward. We get solicited by someone on a probably weekly basis and this one just seemed off from the start. She launched into the typical spiel, asking me who did our card processing and what we pay, and how she could do better. At this point I had to ask her who she was representing since she had not yet even stated this. When I said I was pretty happy with my current system, (Square) but I would take any literature she had, which is basically my go-to polite thanks, but, no thanks, she asked if I could confirm with her boss via cell phone she had been at my location. I found this really odd but I was happy to oblige. The "boss' immediately went into a tirade about Square and don't I ever read the news they get hacked all the time. I said I wasn't going to be solicited again on the phone and that her salesperson did a fine enough job here in person. After maybe 90 seconds back and forth he told me he hoped I got hacked and hung up on me. The young lady seemed really embarrassed and apologetic and I had to keep reassuring her it wasn't her fault but she shouldn't be putting folks on the phone with this guy if that's how they operate. Like I mentioned before, we get solicited frequently, as most shop owners can sympathize with, despite no soliciting signs. And often these solicitors are from card processing services. This one was awkward, bush league, and downright rude.

I have been a Sales Rep in the Credit card Processing industry for over 7 years. Summit Merchant Solutions is just one of like 12 aliases used by the parent company who shares this same address in Fort Worth. They are all dishonest and should be avoided at all cost! The reason they have been in business so long is simple, there are more merchants out there that are just to trusting, and sharks like Summit who feed off of them every hour of the day..Thses folks have zero concious..

Summit Merchant Solutions whatever

I work for summit merchant solutions and have been for 3 months. Yes they do promise alot of things that are not true, However if you are any kind of salesperson you can over come objections. I currently and since the first month have made over 5000.00 monthly. yes the leads are crap but all it takes is a couple good ones a week and a salesman to do it. Quit crying cause your not a salesman.

mustknow, ive worked here for a couple of days, have not found anything bad except for unethical salespeople and people singing on to this company without reading the fine print. all big companies are out there to make money, ive heard rich people get rich by screwing people over. so whats so wrong with a salesmen going out and making honest deals with honest people? companys cant just sell you something and then charge you with other charges without having it in the contract first right? thats illegal. if this company makes money that way, wouldnt they have been shut down a long time ago? maybe im wrong, but i think i have a good point.

I just started working with summit I start my leads on Monday. I just came across this and am very concerned. I am a good salesperson and have been in the mortgage business for quite sometime. Im familiar with overcoming objections so that does not scare me whatsoever. If the leads are as crappy as said than I can self generate that is what you do in sales ( whatever it takes). Im intersted in knowing the fact of what makes this such a bad business other than bad leads. What promises do the renig on Id like to hear from anyone who is or was employed. What exactly am I getting myself in to?

I think that if you know you are selling people your comment " Yes they do promise alot of things that are not true, However if you are any kind of salesperson you can over come objections." Over coming objections is different from promising people things that you know are not true. A salesman does not mislead anyone with lies. Everyone has objection but overcoming those objections with the truth is what makes you a good salesman. Basically you make money good for you but you lie and cheat the people you are making money from. How is that a good thing? Remember what goes around comes around. So you can say Whatever but those lies will come back around and get you.

I recently had to change salons ...The New salon does not use Summit, thank God ... This company promised $5 fee per month 50c transaction fee and low rates ... I want cancell service and they will do this for $500 fee or you can pay what turns out to be a low$36 a month to not use the service at all... When I asked to speak to a suppervisor I was told I couldn't.. I have never delt with a more corrupt unprofessional company in my life...

I agree, i was hired into this company thinking I would actually help small business save a buck or two NOT THE CASE. sure you can make money at this if you are a heatless [censored] bag with no moral and don't mind getting upset at business owners who care about the money they are spending.

You are taught to push urgency to the owners all that does is make them make an uninformed decision in 1 hour that will affect the long term operation of the business. I was told by my supervisor not to leave rates and if that owner doesn't want it then I should do across and to the left and right and talk to those business. I now realize they don't care about business they care about money now and using their employees.

THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST FOR EMPLOYEES AND BUSINESSES ALIKE... PLEASE BE AWARE BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM

Summit Merchant Solutions - rip off

Good morning, My name is XXXXX and I was recruited by April and trained by Stephanie Hudson on Wednesday February 18th. I was under the impression I was to receive 3-5 pre-set appointments daily by the marketing department; they were to call and speak with the decision maker/owner and confirm appointments. On Thursday February 18th I spoke with Mike...
