Subscriber Services Inc. Misleading & fraundulant information

Received a call from man informing me since I spent a good deal of money at Walmart, I qualified for a 250.00 gift certificate from Walmart or Target. Also, I would receive 4 magazines for $64.86. I asked him "So I can use card at Walmart to buy groceries anytime?" man's reply was yes. I was not told $64.86 would be charged to my credit card until I received the papers. Also, I received a letter from United Benefit Advantage Buyers Club stating they were charging my card a $5.95 processing fee. I never spoke with anyone at UBA Club nor did I authorize anyone to charge my c card anything. Once receiving gift card, which turned out to say Rewards Redemption Center, which states I must spend $100.00, send receipt into redemption ctr. and they will send me a coupon or $25.00 in which I can only receive ONE 25.00 coupon per month. So for $64.86 per month for 20 months ($1297.20), I get back $25.00 a month(if I spend a 100.00) for 10 month and 4 magazine for a year all for One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seven $ or $1297.20. These People are Real SCAMMERS

Unfortunately I was also scammed by this company similar to how others have described. After I made some initial payments they called me and told me I could save $$ if I made 3 payments so I did. I am still currently fighting with them over not receiving one of the mags I ordered. I think I got it once, and the rest of the selection is terrible. And I have stopped receiving one of them altogether. They are supposedly waiting on the publishers for answers and will be calling me back. Sure wish I would have never got involved with these scammers!

I worked for the company for a short time. They did require that we communicate specifically the terms of the agreement repeat the terms of the agreement at the end of the call. The last thing we ask them would be "just so I know I did a good job and you understood me, what were your payments and for how long". If people don't know, we were required to repeat the terms to them. I never once lied to anyone while I worked there. They do take advantage of the fact that people tend to hear what they want to hear, believe what they want to believe, it might be on the expensive side, but it is not a rip off. People CALL IN asking about the program, I would explain it to them and a percentage of people of people would say yes. I was frequently surprised that people would go along, but go along they would . I suppose it is possible that they have individual reps that are not doing what they are supposed to and while it might not be the greatest deal, it is not a rip off or a scam ...

WOW! DONT DO THIS!SCAM!
I just received a TEXT message from this Subscriber Service INC stating that they are wanting to give me a 250$ voucher for
Wal-Mart, Red Lobster, Target, and other places. Well I called and got a very nice man on the line "TOBY" was his name (if that was real or not IDK) but he was very shaking on the phone while he was telling me about this program so I asked a few more question starting off with what kind of magazines do u have right up to well what's the Company name and the big kicker what kind of security system do you have set up so ppl don't get my personal info? Well he gave me the name of the Company and I looked it up and found this site... Thank God as I was reading I told him to hold on so he did and I kept reading these bad reviews and as I did so I just said nothing and hung up. Even though TOBY was nice his voice was shaking he was having trouble telling me the info I wanted to know and when I got to what kind of Security system do you have implemented for my safety He could only say that the website "SHOULD" have a safe way for you to make payments. First off 5YEARS is way to long to pay for magazines @3.99$ a week you can go to Wal-Mart and pick up the magazine you really want for that price. even though they offer 3 other kinds of magazines for free its not worth it and giving them your bank information is not a good idea and if you have elderly parents of friends DONT LET THEM DO THIS AND IF THEY HAVE CLOSE THOSE PAYMENTS OFF OR CLOSE THE ACCOUNT THIS TRULY IS A BIG RIP OFF!

I have the same problem too! They called me at daytime and I was busy at work. I have free magazine subscriptions from my paintzoom order for six months where I only paid for 5.99/month. So when they called I thought it was my current subscription magazines saying that I won a watch plus I get to join in their sweepstakes so I said ok, confirmed my account until I saw in my bill that they took $68 from my account! After a week I received a letter stating that I agreed to pay $68 dollars for 18month! I called the company to try to cancel this subscription and they said that I can't cancel it. I am going home to my country for an emergency so I said I can't pay them because I am leaving, they said they need at least $500 and I am free from debt. This is awful! Now I'm not even sure if I got any magazines from them or from my previous magazine subscriptions... I hate this company, I wish they will get out of business!if this is legal, they should have provided a letter of consent or a contract at least! There is no such thing as a verbal contract! They even said that they can hunt me down and pay for interests... Sheezz! What to do?..

"subscriber services inc" or "publishers promotional services" what ever their actual business name is...is a company preying on people that they are imposing themselves and their corrupt so called services on. the people are rude to say the least. they misrepresent their products and services and then charge you "extremely enormous prices" for magazines you could get for a fraction of the cost anyplace else. they misinterpret their "verbal contract" by telling you it is just $39.88. first thing you know, you are getting a bill for $39.88 every month for the next two years...do the math...really? Who in their right mind would pay $1000 for a bunch of magazines they probably will never receive anyway? if you think you are going to be able to get out of the contract? guess again...the only way to do that is to have a letter from your doctor saying you are mentally unable to take care of your own business. they neglect to mention when they offer their "great deals" that you will be paying for magazines for the rest of your life! They are demon telemarketers that annoy you into submission...Just REmember to just "HANG UP"... better to be a little rude and hang up than a lot broke later. And besides, they are being the rude ones for calling you in the first place!

I don't know what people are talking about here but I think its an ok company. I signed up and paid about $300 for 6-7 magazine subscriptions for 5 years. I didn't check prices but that seems like a decent deal to me. I didn't even pay them for quite a while and they did end up calling quite a bit but they weren't rude or harrassing, after I squared up with them, no problems. I've called to switch magazine titles and they are curteous and helpful. I looked them up on BBB and they have a good rating A or B and they've had alot of complaints, 500, but they had resolved almost all of them. Sounds like a decent company to me, maybe you people should pay your bills and quit making false statements. The only problem I see is they don't have a huge selection of magazines but I found enough titles for me. Even Playboy, for the articles..

Subscriber Services called me and offered me a subscription to 5 of my favorite magazines. I would pay for the magazines for one year (set fee each month) and then I would receive 2 free years. I agreed and paid my 12 months of fees. After the 12 months was finished, I was contacted by a customer services rep. They offered me a special bonus for being a "valued customer". They told me that I would receive two more years of magazines for a discounted price per month.

I asked them why I would need to pay anything for magazines that I am suppose to receive for free. They then explained to me that the fees were being paid for the shipping and handling of the magazines. I was bothered because I was told they were free, but I agreed because I like the magazines and it was cheaper then what I was paying. They sent me a confirmation letter; after reading I found out that I agreed to pay for an extra two years of magazines on top of the 2 free years.

I called the company to cancell but they told me that it was a non-cancellable agreement. Not only did they mislead me (pretty much lied to me about what I was agreeing to) they wouldn't let me cancel a subscription that I wouldn't begin receiving for another 2 years. I ended up cancelling my bank account to stop them from charging me. They sent the item to collections.

-I am curious, if the service that I am paying for has not yet occured - none of my revenue to the company has been earned, why can't it be cancelled - is that legal?

Subscriber Services Inc. Unending Subscription

I signed up for a subscription, it was prepaid by the above company. When I tired of the subscription because of the price and just because I didn't want it anymore. I called up the company. I stated that I wanted to cancel the subscription. The first person I got told me I could cancel. I was then tranfered to another operator who told me because it was prepaid I could not cancel the subscription. I was then made offers of which I had no intention of agreeing to. Again, I stated I want to cancel my subscription. Sir we can't cancel your subscription and you owe...the exact ammount at this time I'm un sure of. I was then recieving harassing Phone calls constantly from pretty much everyone in the company. When I did answer I again stated that I no longer wanted the subscription. It was getting on my nerves. Now they're pressing charges for delinquency of my bill pay. I have no job or money right now & even I f I do find work they want to ruin my credit, garnish wages, anything & everything to get their money.

I think that they should not prey on the weak and hopeless. And that they should definitely not harass someone who is not "of the right mind" until they agree to take the subscription. That in its self is enough for me to Never use that company. They should be locked up and shut down and made to pay everyone back. There should be a law against that stuff.

Subscriber Services Inc. Watch Out

One day I recieved a phone call from a tellemarketer wanting to sell me magazines. I was told if I bought some magazines I qualified for a $1000 shopping spree because I was a preferred Visa or Mastercard holder. I was assured I would be able to veiw the contents of the shopping spree and I could cancel at any time if I was not happy. Mind you, this part of the conversation is not being recorded. The only part they record is you saying you will pay thirty some dollars a month for 24 months. When I recieved the information on the " shopping Spree" I was aware I was involved in a scam. When I called the company to cancel I let them know I did not want any magazines ( I had not recieved any yet) and I did not want to be appart of their fraudulant shopping spree. I was told I had entered into a CONTRACT and I could not cancel and it was unfortunate for me that I was not pleased with their free shopping spree. When I continued to argue I was hung up on. I spoke with another person from this company later on. The conversation went the same way and once again I was hung up on. I was then contacted by a manager who offered for me to buy my way out of the contract for $400. Their is no way I am paying $400 for something I do not want, was told I could cancel, and have not even begun to recieve. I was then told I would be sent to collections. I can not beleive that in this country something like this could legally take place. I am distgusted.

I paid off the first subscription after much arguing and calls but recieved lots of magazines I did not even order. Just this past week I found a debit on my bank account site that was made by Subscriber services and when I called they gave me the run around about my having renewed my paid out subscription again and that was the first payment on $896.00 charged for it. Needless to say I came apart all over them and denied ever renewing then found out they had sent me a letter saying if they DID NOT hear from me they would renew and start to charge my debit card again. The reason I did not know this is because I throw everything with their name on it in the trash. I immediately canceled my card and insisted they return any and all monies removed from my account or I would have my attorney contact them. Everyoine I have dealt with are arrogant and rude and not at all professional. But they don't want trouble of the legal kind. Please don';t give up, keep all records of phone calls and bills and if needed record the calls yourself and tell them you are. You can beat them at their own game. Good luck to everyone who comes in contact with this group of frauds.

I received a calle telling me that I could get a shopping spree with a subscriptions of a magazine. I agreed and when I got the so called shopping spree package I realized that it was a scam. I called them to let them know that I did nto watn the magazine subscriptions and that I felt they did nto keep their part of the bargain. They told me I could not cancel and they continued to take money out of my account so I closed my bank account. they have kept harrassing me and calling me because they could not take out the money. I am sending a letter today to let them know they cannot contact me by phone. I feel like there is no one to help with this sort of scamms and this affects out credit. How can a company have so much power over people?

i also tried to cancel before i received any mags and was advised that my only option wasto lower my monthly payments from $60.oo to $39.00. Everytime I get a invoce the amount owed is 2x 39.00 plus a late charge. I recently spend a great amount of time on phone with an articulate gentleman name Ryan that took my bank card for a payment and reportedly changed my monthly due date and advised me to call back on 8/4 . Then yesterday 8/1 I was contacted on my home phone and spoke with a arrogant "gentlemen" who started the conversation by telling me that my payent was late and advised Ryan did not have the authority to change my monhly due date. I am so frustrated and angry I just want out of the situation. I paid them yesterday and hung up prior to getting the confirmation number advising the man on the phone that they were crooks, and what they could do with their confirmation #.
Is there anyone out there who was sucessful in getting out of this rip off contract. Any suggestion on how I can proceed ? Please help, I am willing to becoming a participant in a class action suit against these crooks !

Subscriber Services said that once you subscribe to them, you can not ever cancel until after five years, no matter what. It is just insane and unfair business practice. I wonder why the Better Business Bureau has not put an end to this yet!!! NEVER EVER EVER EVER ORDER FROM SUBSCRIBER SERVICES INC... THEY ARE PURE EVIL.

Using fraudulent and deceptive business practices, this company subscribed numerous magazine subscriptions in the name of my son. My wife and I are now being subjected to around-the-clock harassing and abusive phone calls regarding amounts allegedly owed by my son to your company. We are appalled by the unethical and unprofessional behavior of this organization and it representatives.
