Watch out for this guy seems great at first and promises he will back his horses. This is not the case I bought a made rope horse from this guy and after we bought him we took him to a roping practice 2 days after we bought him. We let Tom Sturgeon know that the horse wasn't even a MADE horse. Our agreement was that if the horse didn't work out he would come pick him up. After several months of going back and forth he never honored his word and now stuck with a horse that wasn't what he said he was.
At the same time my friend bought a pony for her 4 year old that was supposed to be a good pony for her 4 year old to ride and do rodeo on. This pony was a nightmare and the pony broke her 4 year old's arm and a neighbor kids's arm.

I would never recomend this place for any type of horse or pony!

Tried to respond to the above comment and email wouldn't go through I would be more than happy to send the information on this as I have several emails from this guy stating he would back his word and never did.

Tom is the best horse trainer, I have ever worked with.Tom is all about safety and doing things right. I did a lot of research last year and decided to take my quarter horse To Tom for training. I couldn't have been any happier. He was very honest And to the point. I learned a lot about her behavior. We also stopped in from time to time just to see how she was and never was disappointed. She was very well taken care of. We also chose Tom for our 6 year old little girls ridding lessons. He was very safety oriented. I was amazed at how well he communicated with her And how he was able to get down on her level to make her understand the things he was teaching. I was never disappointed in any of his services. I will not use any other trainer in the future.

Tom Sturgeon has been one of the most genuine, honest, and truly generous horsemen I have come across. He has a great heart for children and stands by his word. I would never doubt his knowledge of horses and ability to train. He has helped my daughter a great deal with a horse who he previously has taken back twice previously. Which proves to me, he stands by his word. The horse that my daughter rides, did not settle well with her past owners, and thankfully she has been the answer to my daughters prayers. Horses have their own personalities as do people. I've seen Tom and his family with the horses on their land and would trust them completely and recommend them to anyone.

I personally had a great experience with Tom. I was initially interested in one horse but after discussing my needs with Tom, he suggested a different one. He was honest about both of them and has even maintained occasionally friendly communication with me... just to see how we're doing. I'm going to keep the mare as my "forever horse" because she's just that awesome.

Tom Sturgeon is a snake. We purchased a horse from him with the agreement of 30 days training. We sent the horse for the training and when he came back he was so sick that 3 weeks later we had to put him down. The vet said there was nothing we could do to save him and that he was to sick to save when he got back from Sturgeons. So he got sick at Sturgeon Family Farms and instead of letting us (we called every week to check on him) so we could get him to a vet Tom Sturgeon worked him into the ground. We had him put down on December 21. Broke our daughter heart. She still crys over it 9 months later. Tom Sturgeon reaction was "Oh well. Thats livestock". Tom Sturgeon is worthless and we tell everyone about our experience.

HORSES ARE NOT ROBOTS THERE ARE LIVING BREATHING ANIMALS WITH FEARS AND LIKES AND DISLIKES, THIS MAN HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS AND ONLY SHOWS TWO COMPLAINTS THAT IS A RECORD IN MY BOOK. AND AS FAR AS HIS CHILDREN GO DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING THEY ARE LIVING A DREAM THAT MOST KIDS DREAM OF. LIVING ON A HORSE FARM. SHOWING AND RIDING AND SPENDING TIME WITH THERE FATHER! BOY THAT SURE SEEMS LIKE A BAD GUY TO ME ? GET SOME EXPERIENCE AND TRY AGAIN. NO REASON FOR YOU TO BE NASTY AT SOMEONE WHO IS A GOOD PERSON. SORRY BUT THAT IS HOW I FEEL. RHONDA STOUT

This man is as dangerous as the horses he sales. I am preparing law suit for misrepresentation, fraudulent advertising and deceptive trade practices.
Sold me a horse that was obviously sedated at time of purchase. This horse's true nature is spooky flighty...ran over me fractured by knee cap, tibia and torn my mcl. Have to have surgery...This guy will not return my or your calls or emails.. Does not back his horses or words. False ads states hew backs his sales...have copies...
Buyer Beware.. just kiss you life and money good-bye. I am preparing law suit for misrepresentation, fraudulent advertising and despective trade practices.
Sold me a horse that was obviously sedated at time of purchase. Had professionals say horse is green broke and extremely dangerous. Tom Sturgeon stated this would be a great horse for my grandson ( which does not know how to ride) to learn on. He is the worst kind of horse trader. Stated in ad used this horse for lessons with young children. Seems active with young college female riders, church etc. Uses his kids to pull a fast one.

I was just reading your complaint and thought I would weigh in. I am a professional horsemen and find it very funny that you bought a "made" horse but when you got it to a roping discovered it wasn't made. Didn't you try the horse out? I would imagine that you spent at least $10, 000 on a good made horse. That is a lot of money not to take for a test drive. Also, if the pony that you bought was so dangerous why did you put another child on it? That is just plain stupid and in no way is the fault of the person you bought it from. I bought some young horses from this gentlemen many years ago and had a wonderful experience. He knows a lot about horses and has very fair prices. I think you should be careful when you speak poorly of someone when you deserve the balme for not knowing what you were doing.
