This is an Internet Content and Marketing company that I believe to be scamming writers as a legitimate freelance writing job. Now I'm not positive about this, and if I'm wrong I'll talk this down, but I'm pretty sure they're scamming writers. They have thier job ad continously posted all over the country week after week. That's the first sign secondly. Secondly, I applied for a job with them and got a reply back almost instantly. Which is the second major sign that this job might be [censored]. Because that never happens.
So when they got back to me they gave me this really long and drawn out writing practice test that would have equaled $60-$80 of work. They wanted two long ### 800 and 600 essays, which is completely unreasonable and ridicilous making someone applying for a job do that much work just for the application. Also, right in the email they say they will let you know if you got the job within 24 hours.
Well needless to say I never heard back from them. I even emailed the guy who emailed me back at first no problem when I had a question, now he won't return my email. If you apply for a job with this company and you get some 4 page ridicilous writing application, they are most likely just going to keep your work, possibly rephrase some of it and pass it off as thier own. That way they don't have to pay actual writers for thier hard work, they can just trick them into writing it for free.
If this isn't fake i'll take this down, but people like this make me sick and don't think I won't ever be out in Seattle some time soon and come out and see whats going on and at least get my $60-$80 in time I wasted writing your stupid application [censored]...I'm out!
Ha...I know this is riddled with spelling and gramatical errors...ha...I just wrote it real fast and didn't proofread it, but you get the idea of what I'm saying. Trust me, when I submit writing work for my actual writing jobs I proofread everything, I just don't do it on comments like these but I"m def gonna start because now I'm just making myself look stupid, but seriously, don't trust these ###...maybe...But thier most likely ###...
Yo Yo Yo...Yo I was gonna take this down because got a response about 3 weeks later saying that, of course, I didn't get the job, and figured whatever. I'm not the greatest writer in the world, I'm just trying to get paid homies! But I think my articles were pretty tough, good enough for these ### at least. Oh but wait...These ### are only looking for the most unbelievable articles on the planet, only the articles that they will wet thier pants over. But from what I'm reading from all these responses is that Stripes39 is only wetting thier pants from all the free articles thier getting every month.
Sorry but I can't take this down now, regardless if your a legitimate company or not, you wasted my time and countless of other hard working freelance writers time around the planet, most likely, and for that everytime someone types in Stripes39 and goes to page 2 they will be greeted with a harsh reality that David Beefarms has not gone silently into the night, but David Beefarms has in fact smoked a bunch of weed and exposed you as the little sneaktheif article burglars you are. Your nothing but sneakthief article burglars and you know it, and I might have to use some of my extensive SEO writing experience to write weekly blogs and poems about Stripes39 and thier Sneakthief article burlarly business because I don't have anything better to do because I don't have a job. Because you didn't hire me. And you wasted my time. And I would like to meet u in person at some point and collect my $60 - $80. You Bruise some...You get Gruesome!
Damn...I don't know why all those stupid ### error are messing up my sweet ### post I just layed down right there with the White Obama even certifying it for me. But ya, If all these people are saying the same thing then it's a scam and dude if you hear back from so many companies instantly after you email them then why are you trying to get a job with this fake ### company if your ballin so tough and have so many instant job opportunites. I think most writers would agree that 80-90% of all job queries never get answered with any response. I'm out!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I gave them another chance when they asked me to work on a different project. This one required 500 words per article, with less formatting. Their pay rate is $25 an article. With the research required, they should be paying 60 bucks per piece. I had other projects, so I only wrote a few until I was sure I would be paid. The editor told me that there would be hundreds of topics posted each week, and I did not see that over the course of the week. At one point, the lead editor told us to stop production and that there would be a different game plan the next day. I knew they would not be a reliable source of income then.
I believe it about the 12-16 hour days. The editor that hired me says that she would be on from 8 AM to 8 PM. She said she had four room mates, so I'm sure shes making tons of money :rolls eyes:. Don't bother with this gig.
I was hired as an in-house writer for them. This company is most definitely a scam. I am quite certain that they do use the writing tests for their own content. Working in-house, I was expected to work 12-16 hours per day, and sometimes without so much as a bathroom break (no joke!). The CEO's sister was the "editor, " but she was not actually a professional writer. I worked there for about two months and in that time, I saw about a third of their employees fired and new ones hired. They called it "restructuring" but these mass firings happened three times in two months and the CEO announced that people were let go because they didn't fit into the company's vision statement. Their company vision statement actually says that their employees are expected to trust management to make decisions for them and not ask questions.
Hi! I also received a response very quickly to have me take the test. Specifically, they asked me to write that same report on Psychology that you were talking about. While it is a long, intense test, it definitely paid off. I have been working with them for several months now. They are quite picky about who they hire and who they don't, and the work is not overly creative. Still, they are really great employers who keep me very busy and I get paid about $50 per 800-word article that I write with them.
If you got a message back to do the test, it really is in your best interest to do it, as long as you are a strong writer. This will be a waste of your time if you are weak in conventions, following directions, or original text production. Currently, the test seems to be working as an excellent filter to weed the less motivated candidates, so maybe that was their plan all along! :)

Too much research and formatting of the articles required. They want us to use at least 8 keywords, format links within articles and include information in articles that require significant research. Thats what I mean by "too much work". Just because you were not accepted does not mean that they are a scam.They produce content for education topics...geared toward students researching certain fields. They will post articles to a new site they have set up that does not have articles yet.
It would have been OK if the picky editors did not send back for revisions...but of course they want the world for ### pay.
depends on the meaning of work. Suggest that they produce nothing.

I dropped out. Too much work for the pay. Essentially they want graduates and professionals of certain degree programs to write these articles...except they don't want to pay the 100 dollars per article that a professional would get. They want to pay less than half of that.
Cool. Perhaps we could look at a sample of your production someday if you post a link.
That would be great. Controversy is sometimes good publicity.
They are not a scam. I was hired. Although I do think they could pay more for the formatting involved, I think I could make a comfortable 200 a day from them.

Its probably some innocent bystander's phone number. Unless they were dumb enough to post their own, which is entirely possible. Sorry to keep posting, this kind of thing just makes me mad!
Also, if you enter their address into Google maps and use street view, the supposed business location is a heavily-wooded residential area. This business is a total fraud and should be prosecuted, not only for their scamming but for their incompetence in doing so. The don't even have enough intelligence to hide their fraud from a simple web search.
Thanks for posting this review! What made me question Stripes39's legitimacy is that when I searched for their actual website online, all I got was a short paragraph about the company seeking freelancers with no links. If they provide the content they say, then where is it?
When you search online for their business, all you find is job board posts and short business profiles but no actual business!

i've applied for jobs at well-known places and always get a response back within 24 hours, if not instantly.
anyway, i hope this is real because i need work.

I applied for a freelance writing position with Stripes39 and subsequently took the test, which took about 90 minutes. The topic--should students pursue an online PhD in psychology--did not include any pertinent information: audience, topic slant, etc. After writing the article, I heard back from the same individual within 24 hours indicating that I did not get the job. No explanations provided, no feedback on the article, and no follow-up to the questions I answered. My best guess is that this is a scam. Check out their brochure-page website that gives absolutely no information about the company or what it does. Interestingly, the employee who posted above, "Matt, " claims they treat their "freelance partners with integrity"; why haven't we read anything on this board attesting to that integrity by those freelance partners?

The application test feels like a scam, particularly when writing samples are already available and the work is contract.
If one were obligating company resources to support an employe for a specific period of time, I could understand a thorough evaluation period; but that is not the case.
If the company is honest it should either accept previously published writing samples or pay the potential employee for the application work done.
It is as simple as that.
This place is a scam! I have proof that they do indeed use your samples for their business. Don't bother!

I also got a next-day response. Definitely looked like an automatic-response email with my name plugged in. Wanted me to write an article about pursuing an online PhD in psychology. Puh-lease! I am not going to spend the time researching that for free! If my writing samples weren't enough for you (I submitted a paper that got me into all the grad schools for which I applied.) then I'm not wasting my time. It really does seem like a scam. They say 800 people will take the test for this freelance position and only 50 will get the post. Sounds like 800 free articles for Stripes39!
No problem. At my3cents we are trained not to nitpick ones grammar, unless it interferes with what the word/sentence/phrase intended. Thank you for this insightful review.
