Strayer University accounting department

I graduated from Strayer in Jun 2012. I put in my graduation package in January 2012 and it was approved. When I attended the graduation ceremony in Washington, DC, my name wasn't on the program and no one could explain to my why I wasn't listed on the program. I paid $150.00 for a process that failed and of course I didn't get a refund. I received a letter from Strayer December 2014 stating I owed them $1, 315 dollars. I called the Woodbridge, VA campus and asked them why I owed $1, 315.00 and they couldn't explain it to me. I told them I put in my graduation package and it was approved, also I received my diploma in the mail for my Master's Degree. They would not send my an itemized bill explaining why I owed the bill, they ended up sending it to collections. Recently I enrolled in another school to get my PhD, of course when I tried to get my transcript, it was denied because to the $1, 315. When I contacted them recently, I was told, the VA requested a $1, 305 re-payment because Strayer billed them for 3 classes when I only took two. I got this information from the VA first and the VA told me all the money they are giving Strayer and the Yellow Ribbon Program they claimed to have I shouldn't owe any money. I told them I didn't receive any Yellow Ribbon money, but according to my VA records, I received Yellow Ribbon money. I asked Strayer about this, and to this date, I haven't received an answer. Strayer claim the overpayment from the VA was given to me in a refund, I asked them why would you give me money that belongs to the VA for overpayment? I still don't have an answer to this question. They are not holding anyone accountable for their mistakes, so they are holding my transcripts hostage. Also, I want to respond to the person that stated how much money people of color are getting from Strayer. I am an African American female and a single parent. I have never received any Pell grants or any other kind of free money, except assistance from the VA, because I served 22 years in the military. If you are going to complain, have your facts straight. Don't blame Strayer's lack of business ethics on minorities. Out of all the complaint's, you're the only one using race as an issue. Strayer doesn't care who they steal money from.

Strayer University extra charges

I went to Strayer for three semester. I signed up as a law student and for three Semester I only took law one Legal classes when I started questioning them about it they kept tell me I needed to take one more Marketing Classes. When I told them I would not be taking any more marketing classes and that I wouldn't be attending Strayer anymore because I sign up for Law and all they were giving me is Marketing classes, which had nothing to do with law. They wouldn't release my transcript and started telling me that I owe them 525.00 for classes which they held for me. I had financial aid I don't owe any money I did not attend any classes. For the next Semester Plus they didn't have anyone to teach the classes. This is not far all they want is your financial aid they don't care about there students. With out my Transcripts it is hard for me to get financial again. On the television when you first get out of the elevators it is flashing across the screen in bold print if you drop before the first 3 weeks you will not be charged for the classes. Now they want to charge 525.00 for classes when I told them way before classes begin I would not be attending any more classes at Strayer. I would be going to community college. And because of this Navarro College is refusing to give me a copy of my Transcript. And I don't owe them a balance. This is stopping me from going to any college. I was recently attending Dallas Community College but because I can not get neither of these colleges to release my transcripts, I have been dropped and my financial aid was recalled. So in order for me to get back into college I will have to pay Dallas Community college back the $1649.00. Which is the balance of my Financial they gave me. I have emails sent to Dean Carroll and Audrey Wells telling them that I would not be returning to Strayer. And a copy of my contract saying that we will not be charged a fee if we dropped classes within the time frame.

Strayer University bad leadership

This lady has the worst Attitude in the entire history, She curses her employees and acts like a baby when things are not done her unethical way. Natonya Moss have a lot of employees working Overtime without pay on the checks. She does nothing at all, but lies to make it seems like what she is doing is right. I can't believe someone would allow a person this evil to work for a company like this. No students on campus like her either, she lies to students and never address concerns for the lively hood of the stake holder aka students. Natonya Moss and her minion Lauren Harris has made this an awful experience for the students. Please help fix what is wrong and make this right. This campus is a very hostile work and classroom environment. I think Natonya Moss and Lauren Harris are couples or man bashers. Their is little or no men at this campus at all, that is a violation in retrospective to the students as well as the employees who have to deal with someone like this. Natonya Moss is always late and leaves early when ever she wants as well. When I was a student I heard her curse an employee out while she ranted in rage in front of students away screaming obscenity and knocked an employee down by slamming the door in their face. If ran this company this behavior would not exist. I saw her drinking alcohol in her truck while I was on break during class.

You will be coerced into working holidays and overtime and WILL NOT BE PAID for it. Instead you will be further coerced into taking “comp time”. You will be overloaded with various task despite your department. If you voice your concern, you will deep six your career, be put on a performance plan and subsequently fired. It is a very nepotistic organization and although they institute promotion programs, all promotions are directly related to admissions (which is how they get around rewarding based on enrollments). Directors lie cheat and steal to make their goals and use/abuse their staff without care for their families or otherwise. They will lie to you and indicate that you “may work some weekends”, the reality of the matter is, you will be forced to work 6 days a week on skeleton crews and they will still demand that you provide good customer service. If you don’t hit you admissions numbers, be it one student shy, you will go on a performance plan. And if you work in the financial aid office, be prepared to carry 95% of the work load of your campus and receive 0 credit later. Your family if you have one will not matter at all, they work you more than 40 hours a week without one bit of concern. Salaried employees are abused beyond sanity as they can get “comp time” that never really comes. Hourly employees are raped for their time and effort. You can survive at Strayer though, if you are unscrupulous, can lie through your teeth, have no ethics or conscience, if you are willing to talk people into programs that they cant survive within, enroll them in classes they aren’t qualified for or do not have the ability to attend, enrolling students that you know will be denied financially because they are not citizens or have no high school diploma/college credits, or are happy making people take out private loans that they cant pay or don’t need, Strayer is a perfect fit, otherwise, DO NOT WORK FOR STRAYER, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Strayer University business

Stryer University is the worst college that I have attended. They are very unprofessional and never honor there agreements. I was a new student at Strayer using VA Benefits to attend. I went to school for 3 months and the Business manager Cherylynn for some reason negelected to certify my enrollment for the complete quarter. After several phone calls to her she still has not certified my enrollment. She never returns my phone call when she is suppose to. A new quarter has started and she still has not certified my enrollment. They charged there tution to my loans which are accuring interest because I have not been able to get certification made throught the school so that the VA can pay for my loans. Meanwhile I have made several attempts to contact both the Associate Dean and the Dean to get the matter resolved. They stated that they could not help and referred me back to Cherylynn. For the past week I have not been able to get in contact with Cherylynn and all of the Deans have been gone on a retreat. I guess celebrating how they have hustled me out out of my loan money. Now a new quarter has started and don't have money to buy books cause there tution took all my financial aid and they refuse to certify my VA enrollment. I'm going to file as many complaints as I can. I would not recommend anyone to Strayer all they want is money, there credits don't transfer and the tution is extremely high. Just another money hungry get rich quick scam that I feel for.

Strayer University irresponsible and worst officials

I'm writing this complaint with utter frustration and anger.
My wife joined Strayer University for the Winter quarter 2012 in the Cobb County campus in Georgia. We had submitted all the transcripts and documents needed for the admission as per the Strayer University requirements to the admission officer. This was done in November 2011. Being an international student in H4 visa, he told he will get back to us after he gets all the proper approval for admission. After 2 weeks he called us and told that all the approvals are completed and she is eligible for admission. Based on that we went to the University and was asked to pay the first installment of the tuition fees. I was paying the tuition fees from my pocket as she was not eligible to receive any financial aid.

Things were going good and the classes started in Jan 2012. We paid the first 2 installments of the tuition fees. On Feb 7th, she noticed that she was suddenly dropped from her courses without any prior notice. When she called the University they told that they didn't receive all the documents needed for admission and still needs evaluation/approval. We went back and told them all the story that happened but unfortunately the admission officer that we worked with had already left the University. We found out that they hadn't send the documents for approval before and it was send only on the last week of Jan 2012. The Campus Director told us that it was a mistake that happened from the University and that they will fix everything in one week. But nothing happened. We went there multiple times and every time they will tell they are still working on it. When we call or email, nobody ever responds. The Campus director was behaving so irresponsible. He never picks the call whenever we call him nor respond to emails. After all these happened, the only call that we got from the University was to pay the pending tuition fees.

After 4 weeks of waiting and no-repsonse from the University, we again went to the office of the Campus Director. He told us that they need the original documents of the graduation transcripts for evaluation and will never give it back. I've never heard in my life or anywhere where they take the original documents from the students and never give it back. After all, what will they do with the original document. We told them that we can give the originals but to return it after the evaluation. But they never agreed to it. For us, we would never get another original document from the University in India once they have issued one. They asked us to quit the college as there was no other option left. We didn't have any other choice than to quit and drop from the course.

Now when we asked for refund for the tuition fees, they were telling that we wouldn't get it. Due to the irresponsibility and the mistake committed by the Strayer University officials we had to pay the price. Now its past 3 days and we haven't received any response back from the Campus director regarding the refund. We don't have any hope that we will receive the refund. My wife's career, valuable time and money is lost all because of this injustice caused by Strayer University.Strayer University is all about money. They don't care about anything else. For all those who are trying to join this University, BEWARE.
I pray to GOD that such injustice shouldn't happen to anybody else in future.

Strayer University trap!!!

I have attended Strayer for the last three years and realized that I have spent $40, 000 and have not even satisfied an Associate's degree...I have never dropped a class nor have I ever received a grade lower than a B. Here's the trap...the course catalog changes constantly so when you think that you are near the finish line to graduate; course catalog changes.THE CONSTANT CHANGES TO THE COURSE CATALOG IS A TRAP!Changes to the course shell should not affect the existing students who have already completed more than half of their required studies.
I have sat down with an advisor from the home office; she assured me that I was 4 courses away from attaining my degree. I have now completed the 4 courses, paid for graduation, to later find out that I am still missing an additional 4 classes. This is so sad for serious students such as me to be bamboozled by Strayer's fraudulent system. I have since left Strayer University to attain my degree elsewhere :)
The students have no voice, it's a money-making gimmick for Strayer, and the games they play are so unethical.

I agree with you that Strayer is a trap & students have no voice. Strayer University is a waste & all they think about is $$$$$ and not education. The staff are very rude & incompetent. Also, while I was enrolled there from [protected], they changed the curriculum numerous times without student's knowledge. I completed the program & received credits for my required courses but when I was close to finalizing my graduation application process, they said I had 3 courses to make-up since the curriculum changed. To this date, I'm fighting with the academic and records office & I also had to fight with the dean to open a case for this issue. This is very difficult because there seems to be poor comunication between each department. I'm now in the process of transferring my earned credits & enrolling at Georgetown University. Also, this school has a very poor reputation among employers across the US & other college institutions. My outside career counselor even advised me that I made a great decision to leave Strayer because employers view them as a bad institution with high withdrawal & low graduation rate. I advise anyone to stay far away from this money hungry, fake institution!

Strayer University student refund

I am a Graduate Student this is my 6th class that I have taken at Strayer University. We are in week 8 of class and class is only 11 weeks long and I have not received my refund yet, every time I call I am on hold for at least 20 minutes at a time. I think they have caller ID so every time I call can't get anyone on the line. They claim that the lender has not released my money yet. Every class is the same old story. If I was not trying to better myself I would just go somewhere after this quarter I think this will be my last class.

Strayer University money scam

This "college" is absolutely ridiculous - whatever you do, avoid it. I have been involved with them for a year and a half and even after transferring over to another college, they still find ways to mess me over!
Lets begin with the fact that they lost all my paperwork (bank statements from overseas, my college transcripts, notarized papers etc) not ONCE, but TWICE. I would keep calling my "adviser" if she can even be called that trying to find out what was happening with my acceptance into this college - yes, I had applied quite early, yet no one had the courtesy to tell me my paperwork was lost.
As a result of lack of communication, I traveled from the SOUTH of the country to the EAST (that's a 30+ hour drive) to go to the college personally and find out what was happening.
Upon reaching there, I find out that the ENTIRE staff had been fired, wiped out, top to bottom - hence assigned a new adviser (who ALSO left amazingly after 3 weeks), and having to explain my entire unique situation all over again.
A week later, I made yet another 3 hour trip to the college to RESUBMIT paperwork that THEY had lost upon which I was in a car crash (approx. 1 mile away from my destination) - my brand new car was totaled and me and my parents were taken to ER BECAUSE THEY LOST MY PAPERWORK!
Of course, later, they told me they FOUND all my papers miraculously. Brilliant!
Oh, that's not all! Since I am an international student, I needed my I-20 transferred from my previous college to Strayer - there are deadlines, which if not met, put me out of status (i.e - illegal). No body told me about these deadlines. I just happened to call the college one day to inquire about something completely different, and they tell me, "oh by the way, today is the LAST day for to get in touch with your previous college and tell them to transfer over your stuff to us - OR you cannot be enrolled." And it was SUMMER - thankfully, my previous college was SO helpful and did everything for me in an hour.
If you think this is over, it's not - their professors are ridiculous - I learnt NOTHING and wasted $3000 on my classes. Also, when they say they will "refund" you if you drop out of classes BEFORE classes begin, do not believe them. They will later tell you that you were "misinformed", and that the money rightfully is theirs.

Strayer University bad customer service

So far, this is my 4th semester and I am doing it online and it has been doing good. I have all A's and B's and learning a lot. There will be professors that are stupid and don't answer back and just tell you to check syllabus. So of course, I'd rather talk with fellow classmates, etc. The admissions officer sounds so sweet that I'd like to go on their campus and f*** her all day and night. I do agree it is pretty expensive, it came down to University of Phoenix and Strayer. After hearing all this, it makes me just not go to school at all. It sounds like going to college is useless. The only complaint I truly have is their business office, they lag on refund checks and you will not get it for a long time so I of course I call the Federal Grants area, and they said it sometimes take long because of how many students that are admitted. The only problem will be dealing with the Business Office and the place you got the Financial Aid from.

Strayer University my personal info changed in their system without my knowledge

Strayer university is corrupt. I'm in the process of filing an fcba violations against them. Due to family issues I had to drop out early feb. 2011 out of one class and I hadn't started in the mini session yet for the other class, when I explained to the financial office my situation, a mr. Reece said that because I started already I might have to pay since my financial aid may not pay because I wasn’t in class long enough, but he was not sure and would let me know and mail me some paper work to fill out. With all that was going on with my mom being sick with cancer and me constantly in and out of town, I didn't realize I haven't receive any letters from strayer since I left school. So I called strayer on sept.28th to see about registering again for winter classes. First, the girl I spoke with, jasmine, couldn't even find me in their system; she then proceeded to tell me they had changed over to a new computer system, so that could be why she was having a hard time finding me in their system. So finally after me giving her all my other personal info, she said it’s weird that the she see's my name but the address does not match, I said well I haven't moved so maybe it's someone else. So after her searching over and over again she asked for my ss# and my dob and then she said, it was me she saw in the system but with the different address. She I asked me if I recently moved,? I said no!
I said well why did someone change my address to another state and a different phone number, she said it might have been a computer glitch, "really" I said. Anyway she then proceeds to tell me that I have an outstanding balance of $645.00 and it's been sent to collection... Wwwhhhaattt!
I said how can I owe money that has been sent to collections when I was never notified that any money was ever owed to strayer. I never received an e-mail, a letter not even a phone call about this money I owed since I left school in feb.2011 and it's now sept.28th 2011, she then says it could have been because of my change of address, I then said, "who changed my address"? She couldn't give me an answer
So now this is on my credit! I haven't moved so why is my address different in your system? And of course she had no answer for me. So she transferred me to the finance office where a mister reece proceeds to tell me he understands me being upset but all he can do is give me the number of the collection department so I could pay it... Whaaatttt! I quickly calmed myself down and asked to speak with his boss, the director of the school, mrs. Wylette tillman-provo. He gave me her name and connected me to her desk; of which I got the her voice mail. So I left a message. I thought this is just not right. I then did some checking and found out that what they did, by not notifying me is a violation of the fair credit billing act (fcba), failure to send bills to your current address. And they didn't because someone had changed my home address and home phone number in their system, and they don't know how or who did it. The same month I dropped out... Really!
I never recieved a call back from mrs. Provo, so I her a registerd letter about the error strayer university had made with my account. Still no response!

So now because this in collections, it's on my credit report and affecting my credit score, which before this I had nothing delinquent on my credit report. This is also affecting me in finding a job because i'm unemployed and companies always check your credit. I also cannot get my almost 2 years of class credits from strayer so I could continue my education at another school. Strayer university has totaly messed up my life and after dooing some research, I found out strayer has been doing stuff like this to alot of other students. Why is strayer university being allowed to continue to do this to students while still taking our money?

Strayer University fake school

I have been a student with Strayer University for 1 1/2 years and so far I have been doing fine. I guess it's the campus that you attend classes at. I began Strayer from Morrow, Ga and stayed there for 2 quarters. When I was enrolled the admissions counselor was so helpful and I can honestly say that I never had a problem with them. However, I moved back to my home state which is Florida and transfered to their Jacksonville campus. The employees there were also friendly, however they have made a few mistakes with my financial aid. I can honestly say that this did not alter nor hinder my education. I did have a situation where I was withdrawn from a class for not attending a class in which I was so. It was corrected and I did not receive my refund until the last week of class. I don't go to school for a refund check so as long as they was able to tell my my classes were paid for and the check will come I am happy. What I'm trying to say is it all depends on your home campus. Some of them is on point and some of them need to go back to the locker room.

Strayer University financial aid

I really should of read the 'million' bad reviews before I actually registered at this school. I didn'! And now im like the many others who regret my decision. The admission people are friendly and welcoming at first, but as soon as they get you registered the problems and issues arise. They register you for classes and you find you cant drop them unless you chase about all day with emails and phone calls hoping that one person will listen and drop the class for you. The most frustrating is the financial aid office. Again friendly prior to registration but they never reply to any emails or phone calls. I have sent 27 emails and 13 phone calls all of which have gone unanswered. I am in class but have no idea on the status of my financial aid that has been left on pending for the last month or so. I have no idea when my disbursements will be and now have to apply for private loans to cover my living expenses that the fa was meant to cover. I read on some reviews that some students don't get their aid until well in the semester some even after!.. I just want them to respond to the communications they receive, I don't think that is too much to ask. Stay clear of this 'school' (I use the term school loosely) they are incompetent and will only give you a degree in 'stress' maybe even fraudulent in their fa practice.

Okay so I started attending Strayer Online in October 2011 for my Bachelors in Business Administration. I am 19 years old and this is my first college experience. I chose Strayer without doing much browsing and research and also because it was very convenient for me not having a car right now. The admissions advisors were very reluctant to answer any of my questions and were very polite and enthusiastic about the school. Needless to say I have had an awful experience so far. When enrolling I actually went to the campus and it was a little weird because I did not see ONE student the whole 2 hours I was there. The first two classes I took were so easy I felt like it was high school work. I hardly even used the books that were 1 way over priced, and 2 cannot be sold to bookstores only back to the online place that you got it from. I tried to sell my books back to the website and was having difficulty so I called they proceeded to tell me that they would send me an e-mail telling me what to do. The e-mail didn't really say much just to put it the numbers and it should tell you...blah blah blah...anyways the case ended up being that they are not currently buying back those books at this time. okay so whatever I let that go. The teachers are okay I had 2 courses and I had one very good teacher who was always there always answered my questions efficiently. That course was so easy and I think he knew it. On the other hand I had another teacher who just didn't care at all. The syllabus seemed repetitive we did the same thing every week which is okay but she didn't show any interest at all. I was having trouble with the class and asked her a question I did not receive a reply until the last week of class were she told me I cannot do any extra credit. I understand that not all teachers are the same so i let that go too. so... I have been waiting for my financial aid refund now for about 12 weeks and still have not heard anything. I have called about 2 times a week for the past 3 weeks and they tell me the same thing every time, that they don't know why its taking so long probably because it is my first quarter and that it should be in in a COUPLE of days. Not to mention they sound annoyed every time I call. I don't understand how they DO NOT KNOW why it is taking so long is it not suppose to be their job? I very much feel like the school is taking advantage of me because I was so naive. They show very little interest after they have enrolled you. Now I feel stuck because with as much problems as Ive had with them so far I can only imagine what kind of problems they would give me if I were to switch schools. I have expressed my frustration with them on several occasions almost on the verge of tears because I cannot understand how they can be so careless, and all they have told me is that it will not be this much of a hassle next quarter...woww. I feel like they think it is THEIR money I'm waiting on to go blow it but I'm not they don't know my circumstances nor do I have to explain it to anyone them being the last. IM trying not to be so pessimistic because this is my first quarter of college and maybe it will get better so I'm guna hang in there. I also have printed and saved any kind of paperwork, confirmations, payments stuff like that in case they try to scam me. After reading several hours worth of reviews I see that I am not the only one all I can say to a prospective student is please do your research. Pick a school that you can relate to and that accommodates all your needs. I would NOT pick Strayer if I had to do it all over again.

Their financial aid department do not know how to perform their job well. Same exact thing happened twice to me and starting to happen again. I do my FASA forms correctly and called them to make sure I am on tract with getting my pell grant. They tell me everything was put in good, you will receive your money next week. Call the next week and told that it looks like it was not done so that I can get it. I never denied it, even if the VA pays my tuition, I did not deny free money. I have to contantly call them to get this taken care of when they should change their notes in their system and put everyone in the office on the same page about VA students. I hate wasting my time on the phone when the same department keep making the same mistakes.

I totally agree with each complaint. I am in week 9 and my account still shows a past due balance that should have been cleared up weeks ago. I have been given one excuse after the other as to why the financial aid has not been released. This issue have affected my concentration on my studies and has totally cause a hardship for me. I wish there was more that I could do to report this issue or take legal action for distress against this school.

Disgruntled James,

Did anything materialize from this? I feel completely victimized by this organization. I feel like they are intentionally taking advantage of desperate people who believe an advanced degree will help prepare them for success.

I am a student at strayer as well, and it seems their business office practices are very similar nation wide. I am in my 9th week of an 11 week session and have not been paid my student refund. I know I'm due the refund because I have another source that pays my tution, hench the full student refund minus there 1% to 3% fee should have been paid to me. In 6 weeks the next quarter will start and I will be due student aid money from that quarter as well. I can't get a straight answer from the local office who always defers to the coorporate office, who has changed all their contact numbers and removed them from the website? is there a raketeering scam going on? anyone filing a class action law suite on this horrible school let me in!

Strayer University incompetent teachers/financial aide dept.

I signed up with strayer originally just to take a single unix course. Because of the cost of the classes I had to sign up for financial aide, which required I sign up for at least one more course. I could not have been more clear with the women in the financial aide dept. My words verbatum, "i'm not sure what i'm doing, all I know is that I can not afford any type of loan, period (yes, I spoke the word period)." I continued, "I had signed up with the pell grant in the past, if I that won't cover most of the expenses then I will have to go back to germanna" (a community college with much better, and way more professionally trained, instructors).

For half the semester I couldn't access my account with them because of a "new system glitch." fast forward to the middle of the semester and I have a loan from fannie mae and an extra class I didn't need to take. After a recording a lengthy discussion, that was mostly one-sided after the other party shut her mouth when I pulled out the tape recorder, it was agreed that the loan would be cancelled and I only had to pay for the single unix course. I was spared the expense of the english class, which was good because they incorrectly placed me in a non-credit course. Since I couldn't get to my account from the "glitch" I never realized I was in the wrong class.

The unix class was a totally different train wreck. Every time the teacher explained something I constantly shook my head. I spent most of the time correcting his teaching and scripting errors with other class mates. On one occasion he couldn't figure out how to show a student the right way to write a simple linux script. When I showed him mine with relational paths instead of absolute paths (a perfectly acceptable, and cleaner way to write code) he got confused and said my way "shouldn't work". Yet mine called the data properly I needed and his failed miserably.

Finally, even after telling them via phone and e-mail to take me off their contact lists, and after being assured that my contact information would be removed from their databases permanently, they continue to force me to relive those events time and time again by explaining (once again) why I want to be taken off their call list. I must receive a call at least once a month and multiple times a month during enrollment.

Please steer clear of this school, they will never let you go.

I just signed up to Strayer (Ft. Lauderdale), i wish i read the million bad reviews beforehand! Their financial dept is a complete joke, they register you for classes and you have to chase round them to get them dropped as the system wont let you drop a class yourself. More importantly they never reply to any emails regarding FA disbursement and seem to hold on to your loan money leaving you to struggle through the semester. Im still trying to get info on my FA, i have a huge balance now and dont even know if my FA went through! .. When you fist sign up to this school they are nice and welcoming and reply to emails etc, but as soon as they get you in, its an whole new story., your on your own. Stay clear!

Strayer University financial-aide

Strayer university has a policy to keep student refund checks for a max of 5 weeks. Therefore earning interest off the students money for the organization. Students go through pure hell to recieve their own refunds. They are lied to. They are promised time spans to recieve and told many stories that they are being processed. The financial-aide staff is both inexperience and unprofessional when it comes to completing these loans on time. They need more training. There are students that wait 10-12 weeks before getting their refunds. Strayers academic teams are great but strayer wants to take your money! The east orlando campus is the worst campus because its financial-aide department really sucks.

Strayer University financial aid

Financial Aid, can definitely use some re-organization, especially with the customer service and returning calls in a timely manner.
Morrow campus customer service skills sucks, they tell you they going to call you back and never do. I could go on and on, but I won't but all strayer campuse's are not like this Ive had good experience with strayer until I moved to Georgia.

Strayer University financial aid and staff

I have had problems with the business office and teachers. At the beginning of my Fall 2010 Quarter, I was able to log in to classes, then all of a sudden the website went down. I thought it was a computer issue. So I called tech support right away. Tech support told me that my password has been changed and that the business office locked me out of classes due to financial Aid issues. So I called financial aid, Carol, one of the financial aid advisors, verified that there was a problem and that I have been locked out and I could not log back in until this matter was resolved, so I asked to be transferred to Matt Smith who has dealt with this issue before in the Spring Semester, so Matt said he was working on it and said he would get back in touch with me. I haven't heard from him for a week and a half, so I called back and not until I called him. He said he was still working on the issue, I told him he needed to work on this fast because it was the end of the 3rd week of classes, First he said that not to worry he would make sure that the professors would allow me to make up all work, so he checked on my account and said that I'm not locked out of classes anymore, and sent me to tech support again, so when I finally got up and running again, I e-mailed my professors on the issues I have been having, to find out they would not allow me to make up the work at first until I had Jeffery French e-mail my professors to explain the situation, then they only allowed me to make up some of the work, then deducted points because they were late, which I thought was unfair because the situation was out of my control. Now, I had four weeks of work to make up during mid-term week, to find out I didn't even get full credit anyhow. Then, comes week 6, and I run out of printer ink to print out notes for class, so I call financial aid to find out when funds are to be disbursed, to find out that no one has been working on my account, so they apologize, and said they would have everybody working on getting the funds, and now that the quarter is over I still haven't seen any disbursemnts or refund. I am an accounting student, and for what I experience here is fraud, they are claiming to be non-profit, so they delay some of the students accounts until the end of the quarter so they don't have to claim it to the shareholders, so their profit doesn't show till the following quarter. I can explain better if you were to call me at [protected].

I am experiencing something similar with Strayer. I have been a financial aid student with Strayer since 2007. In Sept 2011 I registered for fall classes that began Oct 3.. Registration was successful and I began my classes Oct 3rd. In week 4 of 11 weeks session I received notice from the business office that I have reseached my financial aid limit and that I would be responsible for paying for my classes.($1660.00 each) WAIT, , , , wasn't this something that Strayer should have told me during registration or do they allow people just to come in and take classes without verifying payment? This is not proper way of conducting business. If I would have known this prior to classes I would not have taken the course because I know that I can not afford that amount at this time. I could have applied for a personal loan later in the year to complete my courses. After complaining to the business office, the Campus Director agreed and informed me that I would not be responsible for the class and the balance would be cleared from my account. I am a very thorough person and you cant just tell me something and I not do a follow up of my own. About 2 weeks later I doubled checked my account balance and Strayer was not only still charging me for the class but they were now charging me $1660.00 for 2 drop classes, so you know what I did went back to the campus office to speak with someone. Of course they blamed corporate and said that it was a coporate issue. In the meantime, guess what? I received funds through financial aid and the funds posted to my strayer account leaving me with a credit on my account. Now, I have a refund sitting on my account they will not disburse to me and they are still charging me for drop classes. I went back into the office 2 days later to discuss the refund further and they told me that they refund can not be disbursed until I write a letter to corporate explaining the issue and they advise me to talk about my surgery in the letter so, that the office will be more sympathic because coprorate doesnt like to be told when they are doing wrong. Really? are they serious? This has been going on since Oct 26, needless to say I contacted corporated and they assured me that this would be am issue that will be addressed asap. I have yet to see this issue resolved and winter classes start in 2 weeks. The only reason I stay is because I have 4 classes left to my degree other than that I would have left Strayer University Inc aka Strayer Business School aka University of the unprofessional a long time ago. At this time I am consoleting a lawyer for further advise. If you dont have to dont attend Strayer University they are all about the money and how they can profit from the funds.

Strayer University financial aid

I started Strayer in June 2010. It was very easy to get into admissions, I should have known that this was too good to be true. The6y said I was approved for Financial Aid then they turn around and said I had reached my Accrual Limit on the NSLDS which is not true. they post the wrong amount o9f funds to my account this quarter and now they state I owe them for the Summer Quarter which is not true because I receive a refund in the summer. I also have a credit balance for the fall which I have not receive a refund for because they can get their books right. Please if you are thinking about going to Strayer DON'T GO. It's a big rip off the take your money and pocket for themselves. I've been asking for and invoice since June so I can see what my charges are and they refuse to give me one. If someone who is reading this is a lawyer please help me contact me at [protected]@yahoo.com.
Thanks

I am a victim of Strayer, too. I started there in 2005. I received my Associate of Arts in Computer Information Systems in 2007. I decided to go on with my education and obtain my Bachelor's degree. In late 2010, after 5 years of attending Strayer, they told me the same thing. I have reached my aggregate limit. Now, I'm stuck at my Senior year with no Bachelor's degree, and a mountain of student loans to pay back. It's absolutely ridiculous that Strayer does this to people.

For the above: first of all, it's "aggregate" limit. And, nslds is the "bible" with regard to fin aid. So, it IS accurate. If you've managed to hit your aggregate, then you probably ought to look in the mirror first - before you blame everyone else.

Happy to know that the Complaint Board exist...was a former Strayer University student. Attended the Philadelphia, Pa campus located at1600 Cherry Street. Strayer University Collections

I took a class and for some reason the financial aid never went through. They never contacted me to tell me this and all of a sudden I get an email saying my account is past due and I need to pay or get sent to collections.

I immediately call and explain that I am signing up for the fall semester at the nearby campus (I had since moved) and could we forward that balance to that campus and let me pay both semesters at once? I was told no, but that when I get the financial aid for the new semester, I would have plenty left over and could then use that to pay my bill for the first semester. I asked if I would get sent to collections, since this was going to take awhile.

SHE TOLD ME NO. She said the letters were going out to scare students into paying their bills but that they weren't really sending any one into collections.

Fast forward: I'm now in collections. Called the campus, they said oh well, we don't know who you talked to. You're already in collections, can I help you with anything else?

THANK YOU FOR PUTTING A HORRIBLE MARK ON MY CREDIT REPORT BY LYING TO ME. I will not EVER be returning to your campus...

Same thing happened to me. I owe 900 and something for a class I withdrew from, and they failed to put it in the system, nor do they have any records of it since it's been so long, and now they are asking me to pay the money back. I don't have that kind of money, and I'm a single parent with a child in college. They didn't even try to work anything out so that I could have paid a lower bill or something.

If you all know of any other options i could look into let me know at tbyars08@gmail.com

Thanks

I took a course at this college in Chesapeake, VA about 3.5 years ago. My employer at the time was supposed to pay for the entire cost of the class. Due to company policy my employer did not pay all of the cost, leaving about $400 to be paid. I had no idea that the company did not pay the entire cost...I NEVER received an invoice, phone call or any other correspondence asking for payment of this balance. I subscribe to a credit monitoring service and recently received an updated credit report. There is now a collection account in my credit report that has seriously affected my credit score. Do I have any recourse? Doesn't the creditor have to apply some due dilligence to attempt to recover any $$ owed before it can be sent to a collection agency?

Hi I had the same thing happen to me and I'm looking for a lawyer right now because I REFUSE to pay for something I know is false and fraudulent. I have seen so many complaints about the same thing online and how they're screwing people over! I really am trying to file a civil action lawsuit against them and need to know of a good lawyer to represent me and the thousands of other students they have screwed over. If you know of any good lawyers please email me at myshepherd0212@yahoo.com
