Is leasing a storage unit of 4'x10' got a deal thru a website for $49. with $6. insurance coverage a month. occupancy started june 6, 2011, first late fee of 10. added to august 2011 rent, then another late free at 25. added to sept 2011 rent. i recieved a phone call from Storage Post rep stating I have a past due balance of 285. I asked why so much its only been two months and we are still in the second month is the 3rd month added already, the rep says no and after stated that i was charge an auction fee. AUCTION FEE of a 100. i then went down to the storage not wanting my items to be sold i gave in $130. assuming or hopeing that now ive paid what i traditionally owed they now wud waiver the auction fee of 100. the then said that auction fee is removable that the only thing he can dismis are the late fee charges which stated that its mandatory to get if payment is late..SO I THEN ASK FOR A PAYMENT PLAN OF SOME SORT they had no problem with that which now instead of me paying an adjusted amount i have to now pay $109. on the 17th of every month till dec, 2011 and if theres no payment put in by the due date my property will be auctioned off the following week...
THAT IS A RIP OFF, NUMBER ONE IT DOES NOT STATE IN THE AGREEMENT THAT THAT THERE WUD BE A SURCHARGE OF $100. AUCTION FEE... TWO. MY MONTHLY TOTAL WENT FROM ME PAYING $55 with insurance TO NOW $57 A MONTH, HIGHWAY ROBBERRY. IM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER AS FAR AS I KNW ABOUT YOUR PROPERTY BEING AUCTION IS TO BASICALLY SELL TO REPLACE THE CUSTOMER DEPTH OWED FOR LEASING THE UNIT...NOTHING ADDS UP EVERYTHING WAS PAID UP UNTIL JULY I ONLY OWE FOR AUG, AND SEPT WHICH WHERE STILL IN AND MY TOTAL BILL CAME UP TO $285..REDICULOUS

I'm dealing with the exact same thing at the Ridgewood QNS location. Left the country, missed one payment and now it's snowballed into a barrage of auction threats and late fees. Funny how the "auction fee" is more than the rent of the unit. Nice little racket they got going there. I should add that the staff at the Ridgewood location are very friendly and helpful - they're just following the rules. It's the rules that are ridiculous. I gotta wonder what percentage of Storage Post's income comes from various forms of delinquency payment. I'd also point out that fully half the units at Ridgewood are empty, so it ain't like they desperately need the space, i'm guessing they just make more money threatening you and/or selling all your stuff than they do from their low monthly rents...
