I received such rude and incompetent service at Stein Optical by the staff and management(one Erica Zimmerman and Elise)it could go down in legend.I came into the store after received message on my voice mail stating my eyeware was ready for pickup. Upon arrival I stated why I was there and was promptly told my package was missing. I asked if she would please try looking again as my children were to be picked up from school shortly she literally balked at the thought helping out the same customer whom she received her commission from just days earlier she finally brought out the product and dropped it on the table in front of me. Her behavior was so nasty and offensive and it was pretty clear that she had no interest in assisting me further and I left before I told her what was on my mind. I contacted the manager the following day because I received no instruction on care and usage of my lenses which could easily result in eye infections or worse. To my amazement Ms.Zimmerman's behavior was equally repugnant as she attempted to blame me for their bungling my order! The entire staff was fawning over me prior to my making the purchase but after they received my money apparently I became an irritant. The clerk Elise was so confused and incompetent I don't think she could remember her name if it weren't for the name tag.

Recently, I went to the Stein Optical recently on 27th and Morgan in Milwaukee, WI to purchase 2 pairs of glasses. I was promptly greeted by a group of super friendly and courteous staff who were all anxious to help me. Mary first helped me with selecting the cutest frames and the lenses for me. I love that the BOGO sale that was running at that time got me the non-glare feature free on the 2nd pair too! My lenses had to be sent out for the non-glare, because I really have an extremely high prescription and anywhere I go, that is always the case. So, it wasn't a big deal that I couldn't get hem in 1 hr. When my glasses were due, I went in, and again was greeted nicely and got my glasses fitted my the general manager, Nicole. She was very particular to make sure that they fit me perfectly! She even gave me a few good tips for making sure that I knew the best way to keep my lenses clean and with the least amount of scratches. I can't afford to buy glasses every year, so I need all the help I can get! I have been a loyal patient of Stein's and I hate how you never see good things mentioned when people do get GOOD SERVICE! I am happy to give a compliment when sooo well deserved. This location is very nice, professional, and organized and the people who work there really seem to enjoy what they do for a living.

I went to the Mayfair Mall location and have never been more disappointed in the lack of customer service and level of professionalism in my life. The manager we encountered, Brenda B, was very unfriendly, refused to help us with our issue, and showed a lack of respect. I purchased a total of 4 pairs of glasses within the past 2 months, including friends and family members and I was expecting common courtesy and professional behavior in dealing with my glasses' adjustment. The frames were not sitting right (were bent & crooked), the lens were not properly grooved into the frame, and despite returning on 3 different occasions, Stein could not get fix the problem. Thankfully, I was within my 30 day period, where apparently Stein honors a "30 day satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" policy. However, getting my money refunded was like pulling teeth. First of all, I received a great deal of attitude when I asked for my money back because I was not at all satisfied with my purchase. The employees were shady and took, what seemed like forever, to issue the refund. I was very disappointed in my experience with Stein and will not return for future purchases. I will also not be recommending Stein Optical to any more people.

Forget going to the West Bend, WI store on South Main St., either. The employees are extremely unprofessional whether it's the way they yell your private information across the room in front of other customers or the way they dress (short tops that expose belly skin, nose and lip piercings, etc.) I went in for a contact lens appointment for the first time and wasn't made aware that there is an additional $45 fee until AFTER the appointment - I only had the $42 cost of the appointment and $80 for the lens with me. NO ONE told be about the fee up front while making the appointment. I waited 4 weeks for one contact lens, called them and then found out that the order was still sitting in my file. One of the snippy b******* said "I told you it would take a while before your lens came in." Not 5 WEEKS, dumb ***! I called the customer complaint department - that REALLY was a mistake! They were just as unhelpful. Never, never, again will I go there or recommend this place to anyone.

What was a great local company has crumbled due to national & international ownership. Training programs are lacking--new hires are put into action with almost no OJT. You too, could be a Stein Optical "optician" five minutes after being hired off the street with no experience or certifications. Buyer beware.

I have worn glasses for 36 years and contact lenses for 25. I recently updated my prescription for both at the Glendale Stein optical store. Service was friendly and informative until the order was paid for. After payment was received, service was like pulling sharks teeth (no calls when ordered items arrive, improper frames for bifocals recommended, incompetent fitting of glasses, etc).

I have never experienced such poor service for something as important as vision. I suggest avoiding Stein Optical, eventually they will hurt someone. Don't let it be you.

Why is this comment a cut and paste of a 2007 comment? Seems strange the exact same comment could be counted twice against them. I've been going to Stein for years and never saw this type of behavior.
