Steak 'n Shake terrible service

We take my mom to Steak and ‘shake in E Peoria, IL every year. Yesterday, we walked in at 4:40pm and there was a long line. We noticed that there were several tables open, but they were not seating anyone. We stood in line for over 20 minutes before anyone seated us. It was another 15 minutes before we saw a waitress. There were several waitstaff, but it looked like no one knew what they were doing. There were NO tables cleaned while we were there. The food was very mediocre. Very disappointed in this place. The manager on duty was very flippant and had absolutely no interest in the constant lines that formed. She did not step away from the counter that I saw. Will NOT be back.

Steak 'n Shake burgers

My hubby & I go to steak & shake regularly. Yesterday we went and I had just seen an advertisement on tv that made me want a burger. We got the burgers & you could read through them! What happened. I didn't expect such a drastic change. The ad shows a burger and we got a very very thin piece of meat that was so thin when it was put in the grill it instantly turned into a hard thing. I never complain but my favorite burger had been compromised! Did they just cut down or what?!

Steak 'n Shake food quality

I have ordered food many times from this steak and shake located on Park Street in St. Petersburg, FL several times and the quality has always been mediocre. I understand that as a fast food chain one can not expect top notch quality, however, this most recent visit proved to be very poor quality food. The bun on the sandwich was so hard that it was not edible. The cheese was melted in a way that it looked as though it had been sitting out for hours and the temperature was room temperature at best— or at least the few bites I was able to make it through. I was very displeased with my visit. I feel as though it has been decreasing in quality for some time but tonight it was extremely bad.

Steak 'n Shake service/food

On wed 6/20 at 8:55 I had gone to the Steak 'n Shake on Tami ami Blvd/clevand ave in fort myers fl. Went inside because I felt the order wouldn't be fair to anyone else behind me in drive thru. Well that was my first mistake the girl who's name on my receipt was alphons, s. Who apparently didn't want to be there couldn't figure out how to ring me up an had another girl take over. Well she had no problem in the back goofing around in the back, then to make matters worse after waiting an waiting for the order( which ended up being wrong after we got home )the Asian gentleman brought us the wrong shakes in which he rolled his eyes an gave them to the drive thru only to return an say I guess these are yours. As an owner / operator of a national chair I thought I should reach out to inform you of the situation. I always told my employees that when I'm not in they represent me an keep your professionalism to the standards in which you were hired. Except for the dining help an grill staff that night it was totally uncalled for. My family an myself enjoy Steak 'n Shake but will be hard pressed to go back for sometime with all the other options around. Thanks for your time Robert ([protected]@gmail)

Steak 'n Shake worst service i've ever experience in my life

I arrive at Steak N Shake at 11:50 pm to grab something quick to eat, so I first try to the drive through, after 15 minutes of not moving, I decide to go in and grab it. I ordered around 12:06 pm and I received my food at 1:02 am with no explanation, no sorry, no remorse and I didn't even get anything extra. Im appalled. Nobody should get treated like that

Steak 'n Shake ignoring customers as they enter the restaurant

I decided to visit my local steak'n shake last night (7/5/18) for a quick bite to eat. I decided to park and go inside to place a to go order. Upon walking in, I noticed the immediate backup of people waiting to be seated. Backtracking a bit, before I went inside, I sat in my car and responded to several messages. Point here being, nobody had pulled in the parking lot or entered the building in the 4-5 minutes I had been sitting outside. So I know the people waiting to be seated had already been waiting 5 min before I walked in. After entering, it was another 5 minutes at least before ANYONE acknowledged that party standing there. The large party was seated and I was next, except I was invisible for another 7 minutes as servers walked past me at least 10 times or more. Not even saying hello or that someone would be with me shortly. Completely ignored. Even people eating were looking at me confused as to why I was standing there looking around. I finally stopped one of the servers as she walked past me with a very polite "excuse me ma'am", she looked at me and without saying anything raised her eyebrows like I was interrupting her swift walk past me. I asked if I could place an order (had been standing there for 11 minutes). She this whole time never stopped walking away and said very rude "someone will be with you in a minute". I chuckled because I'm used to hearing this as soon as I walk in, not after 11 minutes standing in amazement of the sheer lack of customer service and people skills. It was another 3 minutes before anyone approached me to even see wether I was eating in or to go. Even at that point the gentleman who checked me out never once offered up an apology for waiting or being ignored. In fact, his demeanor was as if he didn't have the time to take my order. I was charged full price for my food and upsize to large fries which was not even full in the cup. It has possibly been the worst experience at any restaurant I've had. This is the first and hopefully last complaint I'll ever have to write for anyone. I spoke with the manager about it, she happen to come out while I was waiting for my food to be fixed. She is aware of this but seemed very non shalant and uninterested which fueled my frustration but I was very polite and left. I would very much appreciate a response and to see how much the corporate response team values their customers. Hamburg pavilion in Lexington, Ky 40509

If you want a response you need to contact Steak and Shake's corporate HQ. This is an independent third party complaint site. Steak and Shake doesn't monitor it so they probably don't even know about your complaint.

Steak 'n Shake garden bowl salad - inconsistent ingredients, portions, freshness.

The last three Garden Bowl salads contained produce that wasn't fresh, had missing ingredients and was haphazardly put together. There were chunks of vegetables not cut. One salad was half the size it should have been. I returned the first one and the manager personally prepared me a replacement which was fine. So, yesterday I ordered another but it was worse than the first one.

I spoke with the same manager again (phone call) and he said to come in for a replacement which I did today. No manager, no record of my replacement, customers standing in line to pay but no cashier, a line cook hollers out they're busy with drive-throughs but will make one shortly. She did make it but I ended up tossing it as the avocado slices were from an unripe fruit and mashed. The dining room was nearly empty and waitresses milling around talking with each other. That's the last salad order I'll make there.

Steak 'n Shake single steakburger

7/6//2018

we ordered three single steak burgers at the mount vernon, illinois location today around 11:45. All three burgers were cold, and mine had half a patty on it, we waited in line for seemed like forever. I called and when i voiced my opinion on the product being put out the window cold was bs, he got very [censored]ty and hung up on me. Who wants to eat a cold burger, who wants to eat a cold burger with half the patty.

Steak 'n Shake service at warsaw in

We visited the restaurant in warsaw indiana today hoping to have a good family meal unfortunately that was impossible today. We arrived just after 1pm and the dining area wasn't very full but every table was dirty so we could not even be seated. After 10 minutes we were finally seated which they did not even bring a highchair for my one year old son that we had asked for. About 5-10 minutes passed by and they did not give us a kids menu no waitress to be seen so my husband got up to grab one and the waitress rudely handed him one. We waited even longer to finally order and then the couple behind us ordered and then a group of around 7 men ordered. We waited about 65-70 minutes after ordering and the restaurant was not even half full before we finally got our two sandwiches and one child's hotdog meal and everything was cold and messed up. People who came in 20 minutes after us were served and left before we got our food and the group of 7 men got there food before we even did. My son was starving and couldn't even eat his food since they messed it up. I will not be returning until they can hire a more competent staff.

Steak 'n Shake terrible experience

My husband and I just had one of the worst food experiences ever at Steak and Shake in Southchase, Orlando Fl. We can't go to the one closest to us in Kissimmee because the service is terrible. Now the service is just as terrible at Southchase. We went there in the afternoon to get the half price milkshakes and soda's. There was only one server on the floor and she was overworked and unable to provide proper service. We each ordered the 2 for $3 mushroom swiss burgers which were terrible. The burgers were overcooked dry hockey pucks. The milkshakes were watery and we never received any refills on our soda's. Needless to say we were very disappointed and will never go to Steak and Shake again. The ones in our area are managed very poorly.

Steak 'n Shake closing early and not serving customers.

We arrived at the location at 11:31pm, To be greeted by a screaming manager saying that they were short staffed for the night. She yelled at my friend and I from across the parking lot saying they were closed. We asked that they just let us place an order since it was over 20 minutes until closing time but she refused. What was the most disappointing is that she let a group of 4 girls who offered to tip her inside of your establishment. This is incredibly disappointing considering we were only going to order a milkshake. What can be done about this situation? We live 45 min away from the closest stake and shake and are very upset that this happened.

Steak 'n Shake manager on duty

We stopped at the Fredericksburg, VA on Saturday June 28th about 1:30pm. I have never felt the rudeness of a staff on duty. The lady that was so rude appeared to be the manager on duty. She was a middle aged lady with lighter hair in a ponytail. My daughter ordered a kids meal and the young cashier told her it came with fries and applesauce. Applesauce wasnt in the bag so she asked the manager for it. She strongly with an attitude said you get one or the other and my daughter told her the cashier said both. She said well it's not! Who does that when a customer has been told something? Then my daughter asked for honey mustard for the strips and she rolled her eyes and handed it to her VERY rudely. The ice was in the soda that we requested no ice and she had an attitude when my daughter even asked for the drink. At this point I WILL NOT visit this restaurant again as much as I love the food. I realize it was a busy day and the place was very understaffed and tables not cleaned while people were waiting, but a manager should be able to handle customers with kindness.

Steak 'n Shake went there at 2 am waited in line over 30 min

Pulled up to window because truck blocking drive thru order station when I got to window employee told me it would be 20 min wait because she knew how to cook bit she wasnt going to do it because all other employees were unloading the truck if this is how they run a buisness how do you make any money I came on my work lunch was late getting back and got points like that for an employee to say she aint cooking becasue she was not going to cook by herself and do it all was the stupidest thing iv ever heard an employee tell me then to see 2 other employees just walking around and comming to the drive thru and getting there cell phone was just absurd

Steak 'n Shake service

I went to the merrillville steak and shake at 10:30pm and I waited in the drive thru line for aproximatly 30 minutes to recieve it. And i ordered two double steakburgers with cheese and both with fries and got one double with cheese and a single steakburger with cheese. And i was charged for two doubles. I did not kmow i had the wrong food items till i was already home.

Steak 'n Shake service

Steak and shake has always been our place for a fun lunch after church every Sunday . We recently have not had good luck at the last several times we have tried to eat at our local Steak ‘n Shake. We have to wait for more than 15 minutes to be seated, if we ever are.. if we would be acknowledged and told it may be a few minutes, it would at least feel that we are welcome... but we never are.. Today, we waited for 20 minutes and no one said a word to us. It was a little busy and all the employees were doing something, but there were still 11 tables open and half were not cleaned off.. I saw several customers leave, or get up to get what they had been asking for and did not receive, ( ie. extra kids menus, pepper sauce, condiments). It just makes us sad cause it's such a perfect place for our family... I hope this review helps.

Steak 'n Shake food and overall service/cleanliness

The service was absolutely horrible! Me and my husband went here today at 1am only for us to get our food a he later and remind you we were dining in. The server tells us they lost our food like how? Only to make us wait 15 more min for two burgers and fries, I asked for the food to go at this point and when we got up to the front counter the cooking area was absolutely filthy I took pictures and I am sending them to corporate! I mean dirty beyond and at that point I declined the food! Our server told us that the manager called off and another server was threatening to walk out and she was the only person on the floor by herself with no help. Freaking unacceptable I will never visit this one again just put a overall bad taste in my mouth period!

Steak 'n Shake the pleasant hill building

Me and and two of my coworker when's to eat at a Steak ‘n Shake on pleasant hill ga.
And it was the worst experience we have had.
For it to be lunch time rush no one was in any type of hurry to clean tables, set people, or take orders.
We sat and watched a party of 20 leave because no one came to seat them.
The lady they had cleaning tables took what I thought was way to much time to even get them cleared to then be wiped down. It took us over 1 1/2 hour to order then get our food. Given we needed to get back to work.
Me and and one other ordered milkshakes and those came to us melted. Doesn't help that is was kinda warm in the store.
The whole time we sat we saw several plates of food sitting in the pick up window longer engough to start getting cold.

Also when I went to pay I had $6.11 on my app to use towards my bill and I was going to pay the rest on my card. But the employee would not let me do that. She was very rude about it. I ended up using just my debt card which wasn't what I wanted to do.

Steak 'n Shake evening of june 28

I reached the ordering box, did not get a greeting for 5 minuets, all I could hear was yelling in the background. I finally got a greeting saying they would be right with me. Was finally answed and my order taken without apology or excuse for the wait. Pulled up to the pay window to see there was no one manning it. 20 min later, the manager asked for my card. Payed for the meal and waited another 10 to 15 for my food with no apologies or good excuses from the manager as to why I waited 45 min in the drive through for my $12 meal. Unacceptable.

Steak 'n Shake poor hygiene, no ac, employees playing around food

Went into steak and shake in myrtle beach near tanger outlets. It was extremely hot and humid in there. Didn't feel any different than outside. My waitress was very friendly. I dont have my receipt or I would definitely put her name in here. We got our food, it was delicious. Went to pay and sat there for about five minutes waiting on someone to ring us up. While we were standing there, we watched the employees in the kitchen. There was a guy preparing food with no gloves on. Which made me not want to eat there anymore. Also, there were employees playing around in the kitchen. I could have sworn it was a place of business and not a playground. But I see otherwise now. I dont think I will be going back there.

Steak 'n Shake customer service

It was my nephew birthday and he wanted to eat at Steak and Shake. We had a party of 12. From the moment our waitress Cierra came to our table she seemed like she had an attitude. We gave her our drink orders and then she came back for the food order without bringing the drinks. She came with a few of the drinks but it took awhile for her to bring the kids shakes. When the food came out, my food came out wrong, I sent it back three different times. I asked to speak with a manager, fifteen minutes later the manager walked over with a nasty attitude as well. She wouldn't let me tell her my order correctly, she kept over talking me and saying I had this burger with just condiments. She came out with the double bacon and cheddar burger and it was wrong for the fourth time. This time I just kept the food and took off everything I don't eat. I wasn't able to eat the meal because the mayo that was on it still had it on the bread. I don't eat mayo because it breaks me out. However, the manager refused to accommodate me with my bill and we ended up paying for my whole meal with no discounts for my trouble. Also, the server (Cierra), never came back to the table to refill our drinks or bring us our check. We asked another waitress if we could get our check, she told Cierra we were ready and she still never came with the check. We waited an additional 30 minutes just to get the check. This was my third time going to this location and the service was horrible each time. I went back in a few days later with my son because he wanted to eat there and see if the service would be the same with it just being us. However, that same manager was there and said its her again so I left and definitely will not be going to this location again and possibly no other location as well.
