On Sunday Aug.12, my daughter and grandson stopped in at the Joliet location, on Plainfield Rd. Near the mall for a late lunch. We walked in at 3pm . First we were told they were out of unseated tea, we substituted drinks, and waited. Did not see our waiter again. Tried getting managers attention with no luck. Finally 40 minutes later we walked out. We had no lunch! No service. So disappointing.

Enter Steak & Shake in Elizabethtown Ky. Once seated after 20 minutes of not being waited on approach manager asked how long does it take for someone to take our order. Explained have been there for at least 20 minutes. He said he would get someone to us. At approximately 10 minutes later no one showed. At this point I had my family get up to leave and told the manager to have a good day.
As I see this since we were not the only ones in this situation. This is the worse ever been treated at a restaurant.

Just left steak n shake In Carbondale, IL after what was intended to be an enjoyable lunch sending my son off to his sophomore year at SIU. Instead we ate a cold meal in a dirty, sad atmosphere. Our food came quickly but was very cold and burgers were not well put together. Our waitress spent most of her time sweeping the floor, was crabby and didn't stick around to hear our answer when she asked how everything was. The worst part was we were the only people eating in the restaurant and the tables stayed dirty until 30 minutes into our visit and the table directly behind us was stacked with the dirty dishes from customers before. The table stayed that way during our entire meal. The table was close to us and we ate next to half eaten chicken strips, burgers, plates of fries and dirty milkshake glasses. When I paid I did tell the lady at the register about that table and all she did was tell the other girls so they could stand in a group and stare and talk at my family like we we did something wrong. I am beyond disgusted at the condition of the restaurant, the food and quite frankly the caddy employees. It was very unwelcoming. We will be coming back to Carbondale several times this school year and we will be thinking twice before we eat at the Carbondale Steak n Shake.

Spent 30 minutes in the line. Took 14 minutes to get me a double steak burger n fries from the time I paid them. I literally nearly ran out all my gas waiting in this line.
Had my son not been determined for this burger this would have been the LAST time you ever received my business. And your employee? Didn't say a word. Didn't check if I needed anything. Didn't even ask if I needed ketchup. Just handed me a bag. Worst customer service I've ever received.
Last time I visit this location.

I was at the location in Rockford, IL at 5am and as I was sitting eating my food one of the employees was clearing the tables.

Being a former employee of steak and shake and at 5am the food should not have take. So long to get to me.

The employee I was watching while I was eating he was clearing tables. But he was using the same broom he swept the floor with to clear the garbage off the table!

After a LONGGG day, I just left steak and shake off 441 and turtle creek in Coral springs FLA with my two kids as I am a single mother. I ordered 2 Regular shakes and a kid shake and as I looked at the slip the manager (Paul Garrick) who was taking orders at the time. I realized a kid sized shake was just as much as a reg. (Pulling out my crumbled ten and five at this time from my pocket as i misplaced my debit card and only had cash but why should I be explaining this smh)Shake and so I kindly asked PAUL GARRICK THE MANAGER to politely cancel the kid shake...he immediately looked at me and
Arrogantly said "Why, you don't have enough money?" I said why would you think I do not have enough money? I said no I would like to get another Reg. Shake. Was it the scarf on my head or maybe just being a young woman with two kids. He doesn't know my story and that was so awfully rude of him to say. In the world of customer service this man lacks it 100%. He left me feeling even worse than I did before I came there because he doesn't know how I struggle on a daily basis and all I was trying to do was make my kids happy smh. I am a hard-working mother, put a price on that smh

I recently went to the Springfield Illinois Steak n Shake located on Dirksen Parkway. Though it was later at night we had a waitress who threw our menus at us without speaking. She then took our orders and brought our food out. We asked for our shakes and refills (which she let our drinks sit all dinner with out refilling). When I then mentioned that we have been waiting a while for our things and we were disappointed with the service that we received at that steak and shake. She walked away, but as she was walking away from our table, she was yelling back at me. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. As we just simply asked for our drinks and try to enjoy our dinner, we were yelled that and treated in a manner which was not how customer should have been treated. With this customer service at the steak and shake, I personally do not think that we will be back simply due to how we were treated. By the end of the night we did appreciate some of the other staff that seem very very nice but we had a waitress who we believe was actually one of the managers treat us very poor.

I just left the Steak N Shake in Valdosta Ga where me and my group of 4 ordered food to go. After an extremely long wait and watching an old man clean off his own table they finally gave us our food. Five different orders were put into the same bag. Two of us ordered cheese fries and i ordered chili cheese fries, which were not in the bag, they gave us plain fries and 1 container of cheese. I also ordered a plain double steak burger, which came with everything on it for some reason. Someone else from my group ordered a bacon burger and it came with no bacon... I'm extremely upset and shocked that they didn't try to do better... I hope someone tried to fix them up a little bit or me and my group will not be going back.

Last night around 8:30 I walked into my local steak n shake. I just moved in the area . We were finally seated after waiting by the door for a few minutes. We sat down, looking over the menu and it took well over 5 minutes for her to approach us. The table that sat down sporty after us had already received their drinks. Our food took 30 minutes. After my first cup of soda was gone she never refilled it..Finally our food comes out. My boyfriend had a nasty black fry that looked like it had fallen in a bad part of the grill . Maybe on the floor! It was gross. At that point everything adding up was pretty ridiculous. I asked to speak to a manager. I was kind, I spoke to her in a low voice. Not to cause a scene of any sort. We were not looking for free food . Just to let her know this was a unorganized store. Let her know the experience we had. She addressed the problem and said "well can we get you drinks or a milkshake" . We said wed let her know if we did . About 5 minutes later we were done with food and asked about them. WE WAITED 25 MINUTES TO GET THESE SHAKES. I walked out.. I was embarresed of sitting there waiting on these shakes. I didnt eat it, wondering if they maybe did something to them . this was super unsatisfying and i wont be going back to my local steak n shake. Need i also remind that it was not busy . there was plenty of staff... No reason for this

I went to the drive thru at 3:13:59 AM. I waited in the drive thru line for over 30 minutes. While watching the workers work through the window, I saw the manager pass by and grab a chicken strip and start eating it. Everybody walking around and talking and laughing around the food. No employees was wearing hair nets. I was very disappointed with the store. The only person that was working, was the girl who took the order.

I am writing this complaint in regards to this evenings visit to our local steak and shake at the corner of grape road and Douglas road in mishawaka indiana. ..I am throughly upset...I visit the drive threw window 3 to 4 times a month and other various restaurants in town...I feel that accuracy and delivery of what you order is a must! Again I drive home open my sandwich and it's made wrong! I ordered a #17 triple burger with extra mayo and extra ketchup only and it has everything on it! Unbelieveable ! Than to top it off the cashier at window does NOT give me a reciept only the one inside bag that has the order completely wrong...I'm home and have drive back to the store./forgetting the wrong burger on the counter at home explained to the girl manager on duty...but now she wants me to drive all the way back home for the burger I'd threw in the trash, again unbelieveable! I am at 58 yr old adult and feel I was treated as a child and that I was being dishonest...the kid working the windows name was Marwan and the girl manager was Annesia today's date Friday August 11..order time10:48:02 oder # 519657...this is just ridiculous... my time and gas...to go back and forth 3 times...I feel that I should of been treated differently and just replaced my order to begin with and issued a reciept...it is only fair to issue me a free visit for my next visit due to all the inconvenience. Thank you

Me and my two sisters went to steak and shake a few days ago, we got seated but didn't have a server for a good 15 minutes. Finally got someone and he was new and clearly had just been thrown in the floor at lunch rush (I felt so bad for the kid) he took our order, about an hour had gone by and we still didn't get our food, finally got it shakes but they forgot one of my sisters shakes. Waited ANOTHER half an hour before a manager came and verified our order, got our food about 15 minutes after and my sister still didn't get her shake until after we got our food. And after asking 3 times she didn't get the cottage cheese she asked for with her food. No one once apologized for the inconvenience or offered us anything in return. It was the worst customer service I've had in a long time. And to top it off I waited 15 minutes after eating to still not get a bill and just went and asked for it!

about 12:30 PM on August 11th, my wife and I stopped into the Portage Indiana Steak And Shake. my wife went to use the lady's rom, and I was standing by the "please wait to be seated" sign. about 10 minutes later, my wife returned, and I was still standing there, leaning on my cane. the "Hostess" was flitting around getting drink refills, ignoring us, and 3 other couples that had entered. we left. and went to Culver's where we got our food in about 5 minutes, we WILL not be going back. is this how you treat ALL your handicapped customers?

I dont know what is going on this place but it'd chaos! The last two times I have been here they are out of what seems like everything... Today I was there at lunch around 1220 and out of coleslaw, chili Mac sauce... Some of the servers seem very irritated with the customers as well and are just not very happy.. I feel as if there is no mgmt ever there, no leadership at all...

Ordered 2 fries, both large, 1 chocolate based turtle and strawberry milk shake, as well as a grilled sandwich.

I received 1 large 1 regular fry with 1 black corse hair in the fires ! milkshakes were OK, and no sandwich. I returned back to work to see my "15 dollars worth of food", called and they said I can come pick up the sandwich it's on the counter, and that's all they can do.

I'm disgusted, your office also sent me to voice-mail when trying to speak to someone about getting a refund.

I ordered double stack garlic burger, fries
$4 menu, onion rings, & an orange freeze shake.
Through the drive-through I asked the girl to add tomato, onion & mayo on the garlic burger. We both repeated it back to each other 3 times. After I got home NO Tomato, NO Onion or NO Mayo on the sandwich and it was a single burger in it. Really?
I normally do not complain but this has been at least 3 times in the last 6 months this has happened. Not the girls fault because the order slip that was put in the bag says all that I wanted on my garlic burger. Plus my sales receipt says double stk/Bev garlic😡 not too happy...

Someone is not paying attention. This needs to be addressed. Why go to a place for food if your not going to get what you asked for.? Was so looking forward to a great garlic burger ... lost my appetite after that!

On 8/8/17 I sat down at Steak n Shake in Charleston South Carolina. Name one Receipt is Candace D. She was completely terrible. She did not re fill our drinks we had to wait for the ice to melt to even get a sip. Never checked back on us after we got our food and some of our food was wrong. After eating we waited for her to return to bring us our check. After waiting more she still did not return, we had to go up to the counter to have another server check us out. We could see our server in the back getting ice and could hear her talking about getting to leave earlier than normal. Clearly our sever was more concerned about getting her side work finished and leaving than taking care of us. I will ask to have a different server if she is given to us next time.

The drive thru took an eternity. I understand yours is slower than most, but 20 minutes with only two lines in front of me is a little excessive. But that's not even close to the reason I'm complaining. I decided after hearing my total for one burger, and because I had the time to contemplate during those twenty minutes of sitting in my car, that I wanted to make my order a meal. I told the worker at the window and he said he'd have to add that on in a very unprofessional manner. After getting my bill, I noticed it was two dollars more than the menu price. When I asked him about it, he said it was because he had to add the drink and fries on separately. He said it wasn't possible for me to ring it up as a meal since I didn't say it back at the menu ordering stage. I worked in the food industry for multiple years on a variety of systems, and I'm positive that could not be the case for a system as large as steak and shakes must be. Plus, I've changed my mind many a time in a drive thru line and no other restaurant seems to have a problem doing this. And not only did he overcharge me by two dollars, he said I would need to come in to get a refund. Obviously that was an extra inconvenience, cause if I wanted to get out of my car and come in, that's what I would've done in the first place instead of sitting in a drive thru for twenty minutes burning my gas. But it gets better. After entering, I had to stand at the register for a good 3 minutes before any of the many workers acknowledged me. And once, what I presume was, the manager came over, there was no hello or how are you. I got the distinct impression that during The time I was parking and walking inside, every one of your employees was badmouthing me. Best part? Your manager couldn't even give me a full discount. I'm fairly certain not one in the place knew how to use a register. She just refunded me a soda "cause that's the closest amount to what we owe you." How about just refunding me the difference? Or refunding me all of it and then having me repurchase the proper amount? Who knows? I'm not the manager and it appears common sense doesn't exist at steak and shake. I could at least be comforted in the food though, right? Wrong. Fries were stale, cold and flavorless. Burger was just pure Frisco sauce. It was enough to convince me never to return, unless I have a hankering for disgusting food and even worse service.

Steak 'n Shake is one of my favorite burger restaurants, and the main reason is because of the freshness of the food. The past couple times I have went to Steak n' Shake, my food has not been fresh. I thought it was a one time thing, but it was not. The fries have not been fresh, and have been really soggy. I know it sounds like a small thing, but I just believe that if I am guaranteed fresh, it should be with the entire meal.

After finding the job posting on Indeed for a manager position at your Cape Coral location, I filled out the questionaire which directed me to talent reef after. I filled out the exact same info then, and after finishing about 15 minutes worth of info the docu sign said my password was incorrect. I reset it and tried again.. 30 minutes later it still would not work. Is there anyone I can send my resume to?
