We absolutely love Starz programming. Unfortunately, our two favorite series - Outlander and Black Sails - were impossible to follow. My husband and I both need closed captioning because of our hearing. The words are on the screen and gone in a flash. Now, White Princess is the same. We were looking forward to its premiere and can't follow it. We are watching the reruns of Outlander hoping to understand it a little better but to no avail. I don't understand why Starz closed captioning is the only one you can't follow. Please, please do something to help the hard of hearing watch and enjoy your programs.
Just another complaint about no closed captioning here. Apparently Starz could care less or this would be fixed by now!
I wish I had read these comments before subscribing to Starz through Virgin TV. We will be cancelling after the first month as I cannot make out most of the dialogue due to suffering from tinnitus. No problems with the accents because I'm Scottish. Shame. I had enjoyed all the previous series that I saw with subtitles . Disability discrimination still alive and kicking.
Glad I googled and checked. If no CC, then no reason for me to try Outlander on Starz. Same here, hearing aids, hearing disabled. I depend on CC to assist me in what I hear while watching tv. Add in accents, Scottish or otherwise, and without the CC, I miss everything. I read the books and would love to watch the series, but I guess it isn't happening.
I watched the first three episodes of Outlander with closed captions. Imagine my surprise when I tried to get closed captions on Starz...NOT POSSIBLE. I have hearing aids and even with them I cannot understand the dialogue. I was in the Scottish Higlands and I had trouble with their accent even when they were standing in front of me and now I'm expected to understand their accent on TV. Is anyone attempting to fix this so we can enjoy your movies again and get our money's worth from your subscription. I see in comments this has been going on for a loooong time. Time is NOW. What about all the people who are deaf and need this so much. They can't read the lips that fast. And even with the brogue, I doubt they could get anything out of it. This is the 21st century, isn't it?
The problem still continues into October. I watched the first 3 seasons on Netflix...beautiful. Now trying to watch 4 on Starz is a nightmare. I've been to the Highlands and I had a hard time understanding them even when they were right in front of me and Starz expects me to follow the accent on TV? I've watched the first two episodes and I'm catching 1/4 of the dialogue. Wasting my money. Does anyone from Starz ever answer these texts?
Trying desperately to get closed captioning to work on Starz on the Apple TV app, but have not been able to as yet. It works on the live channel view but not movies being watched via the Starz channel on the app. So frustrating! How can this be goofed so badly in 2020? Who’s in charge of accessibility at Starz that allowed this oversight?
I wish I had found this thread before signing up for Starz. I depend on close captions due to my hearing and now I’m finding out it’s sub par on Starz? Please Fix This ASAP. My TV has close captions as do the other apps I use. In this day and age, closed captioning should be not be just an option on some programming.
Do you all think you could fix the CC on The Spanish Princess, I love the series but find it difficult to watch without the words. My provider is Suddenlink.
Have you ever figured out the CC on Stars for Outlander? Crazy thing is I can get it on my newer smartv but not an older smartv.
We signed up for STARZ for Ourlander. Season 3 had closed captioning, now season 4 doesn't. I am a bit hard of hearing but can follow most American English, but the Scottish accents that are done so well are almost impossible to follow without CC. We're going to cancel our STARZ subscription. I've tried and tried and researched how to turn on the closed captioning to no avail.
