A guy or girl from Hyderabad will call you every day and says you can call India at very cheap rate. I got call every day. Told them I am not interested in their service. Asked them to remove me from their calling list. Complained to their US head quarters. Nottign worked. This really sucks. They are just behind people with no ethics or value. Just troble every one every day to sell their product which no one buys. Horrible ridiculous company. Never go for Startec.

I hate startec! they said that you can only pay the minutes you used, , , no hidden charges, , but when i signed up and couple months they charging me an extra amount every month! i used 40$ calling to philippines but my bill is $70 because of the stupid charges! hmp!!

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR STARTEC!

1. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - THEY WANT YOU TO GO TO THE WEBSITE IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.

2. WTF IS ALL THESE FEES???!

MONTHLY PLAN FEE
CARRIER COST RECOVERY FEE
UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND FEE

THE LONGER YOU TALK, THE HIGHER THEY'RE CHARGING YOU FOR THESE FEES..

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR GOOD ADVERTISING.

indoor_antenna : if you check their Online Customer Service Agreement, all these fees are mentioned there. I'm working for competitor of Startec but that pisses me off when people don't apply a single effort to research what do they sign up for.

READ THE FREAKING AGREEMENT!!! (so you won't look stupid later)

Absolutely bad service. Very deceiving advertisement. They charge us twice that their advertisements and lots of charges..e.g. Carrier cost Recovery Fee, Fed Universal Fund...
Unfair... DONOT EVER USE THIS STARTEC

I have the same experience with you guys at startec. The longer you talk the higher they charge you these fees:

MONTHLY PLAN FEE
CARRIER COST RECOVERY FEE
UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND FEE and other fees. WTH!!!

Please people don't ever sign up with Startec they will only rip you off!!! Take it from us who had a bad experience with them.

They have a bad customer service!!! I hope one day they will get a class action suit file against them!

My mistake was that I trusted STARTEC so much that I didn't check my statement for a long time. Last week I realized that something is wrong :They charge me double more than what was our deal from few years ago. So, let's asay deal was 5 cents per minute, now without any information they charge me 10 cents.


And the worst is that they are doing that from last September. It is my mistake that I never qequestion theyir credibiliti. What mistake? When I call Sstartec representative he was very ignorant!!! What diference compering with all previous conversations.
No response on my e - mail. Total ignorance. And I am going to provide to all of you intereste about Startec my complain:

"Hi,
My name is D. L. and my phone # xxxx .
My account # xxxxx.
So, I just realized that, as your customer for so many years, I gat tricked. My minute with Serbia is charged 10 cents from last Sept. or Oct.
My deal was, I believe, 5 or 6 cents...
Who changed this and how come nobody informed me about this changes?
I need explanation because before switching to you I had with another company better deal (7 cents).
I trusted you and I never thought that I have to check your statement.
I am very disappointed.

Please, provide me explanation for such "bed" movement.

Please do not give your debit/credit number to Startec. When I first open up my account with them almost 2 year ago I asked them if there was any monthly fee, they they said no. For cell service is just as you go that you can only pay the minutes you used, no monthly or other charges. Afrer carefully look through my bank statement last seven months before I cosed my account in Jun they had been charging me an extra amount . They managed to take 27 dollers to finally close my account. Surprisingly I received the statement today from startec even though I closed my account in Jun and have not been using them since. I immediately called them to have him explain the charges. He said My account is not close and I need to pay monthly fee and because I have not been pay that there are late charges. I told him to close my account he refused saing not untill he receive money from me. PLEASE BE AWARE WITH THIS COMPANY. PLEASE MAKE OTHERS AWARE!
