**You won't believe the response to the email I send concerning my experience there. It contains foul language therefore I don't feel that I should post it here, but their exact words to my complaint were: "I don't give a Sh**. and it was signed, The Management. For a copy of this email, which I will be sharing with everyone I know, please contact me via email and I will forward it to you. Read on for my experience.

I will NEVER EVER shop at this establishment. I went there on a Monday and apparently they reserve the right to make their own hours on Mondays. Which is fine, I peeked in the store window and had every intention to return another time until a man rushed to the door and spoke to me as if I were an idiot. This was a horrifying experience. When asked, he stated that he was one of the "owners". He scared the daylights out of my children with his condescending tone (yelling at me and referring to me as "Hey Lady", and was just downright rude, and acted as though he could not be bothered. I explained that I would take my business elsewhere and he completely lost his temper. The story is too long to elaborate on but I can tell you this, being a trained quality assurance monitor I know their business will suffer if they continue to treat potential customers this way. A star rating of one is GENEROUS.

I am so very sorry that this happened to you, but I also can't help but to wonder if the original poster might have provoked this reaction herself. After all, there are always two sides to a story and I'm still somewhat unclear as to what caused this outburst.

I have been a loyal Stage Center customer for 5 years and consider them to be the best in Connecticut. As a professional Middle Eastern dancer (belly dancer), I constantly come in to the store with unusual, and sometimes last-minute, requests and questions. They have never acted the slightest bit patronizing toward even my silliest questions - only helpful, patient, and accomodating. Stage Center almost always has what I'm looking for, and even if they don't, they generously invite me to browse through their catalogs for special orders. They even give me a teacher discount. You just don't find that personalized level of service anywhere, anymore. I am always sending my friends there because their customer service and selection are unmatched.

Usually, I don't post on customer complaint forums, but I couldn't leave this one alone. Janice, Jim and their staff are wonderful people who actively support the dance community here in Monroe and beyond. Shoppers, please don't let this one person's nasty review deter you from shopping at Stage Center.

I too am a shopper at Stage Center, and have been treated well in all instances. However, I find it odd that two exactly stated comments were made by two different people. I also find it disturbing that the blame is being placed on the customer. Maybe the day that Jacki came by was not a good day for the shop owner. Just because we see a different side, doesn't mean that Jacki's experience was her own fault.

I will stick with Stage Center because the shop has what my daughter needs.

Jacki - I wasn't a witness to your experience, but Janice & Jim Ice are two of the most upstanding individuals anyone could hope to do business with. They have been in business for a very very long time, through the best and worst of economic times. Their reputation among customers, studio owners, theatre production staff and students alike is extraordinary. They offer strong support to much of the local community -from sponorship ads in various recital and yearbook programs, attend many events annually to show support for the students that shop with them and are generous in their store discounting policies. During busy seasons, like "back to school", staff is increased to best serve, in a quick and knowlegeable manner, their customers, many of whom are 2nd generation shoppers.
Their staff is helpful and cheerful. I would have to agree with Susan above, surely you did something to antogonize the situation or were just in a fowl mood that day and nothing could appease you. We've all had those days, but must take responsibilities for our own actions and moods versus transfering this onto others and futher, trying to discredit decent people & their business.

I am surprised at your experience. I've been going there for almost eight years and have had nothing but great service and help. It sounds more like you may have said or done something to antogonize the situation, as I've never heard anyone having an issue with the store.

I can't comment on what happened in your situation but I can say that I have never had anything short of excellent customer service from everyone (man included) affiliated with Stage Center. The owners are a joy and have a memory for our names, my daughter's shoe size, etc. In addition, they are always cheerful and very willing to help in every instance.

I think that you are definitely at a loss for not going back to Stage Center as I find them to be the most professional dance store in the area - I even drive from Woodbridge to get there!
