Springs Communications / paycheck illegal withholdings
I was left alone as usual, open to close, no relief for breaks or meals and expected to work for a full 9 hour shift, on a weekend day no less. That was a normal schedule in my employment and not an uncommon practice for them to do this on a regular basis. I am only 22 years old, I have no safety or management experience in my past nor provided to me in case of any emergency that may arise. On that Sunday, there were several customers in the store, no security or cameras are installed in this location, or manager on duty. During my shift, a cell phone was taken. I can only imagine it happened in a time when I would have to run to a back store room to obtain items several times in order to service multiple customers at any time throughout the day. At the peak of this Sunday, there were 15 consumers in the store to be serviced. My manager told me they would keep the total cost of the phone in the amount of $400 out of my next paycheck, and I just could not believe it!! It was even a defective returned phone, and I was charged for full price of that phone. I quit when I found out they were seriously taking it out of my check. I have also filed a claim with the Colorado Labor Board for this same claim because I feel that it was unfair, under these work place circumstances to charge me for any item beyond what is humanly possible to be responsible for. I think it is wrong, and I belive also illegal, to also leave one person to run a whole store, especially if they may get hungry or have to use the restroom and deserve a break now and then, and I feel now I am being punished because I tried to be that good employee.
My cell number in case you have any questions is [protected].
