SportsDirect.com health and safety

06/02/2015. 16.16 am applaud by staff and health and safety regulations. I was visiting the high Wycombe branch of sports direct with my 5 month old son at 14.10. 062/2015 The manager ' I did not know at the time of the incident ' jumped up high to knock down the trainer regardless there was a step ladder free of use a few feet away, he failed to catch it, it landed just below my sons face while lying down in the pushchair. He said " sorry" and walked away. So I asked a different staff member to call the manager. I was shocked when he announced he was the manager. He gave me another un sincere" oh sorry" I am very upset and angry with the manager. I did not feel in any way he's was generally sorry. So I would like to complain to head office but I'm finding it difficult to get in contact with them.

SportsDirect.com Customer service department

My father purchased 2 bikes for my daughters for Christmas online through sports direct. When they arrived one bike was missing the saddle and stem. Was told to ring the usual costly 0845 number but guess what, no answer! After many emails back and forth to customer services my father was told to pack up the bike and spend a day waiting in for then to collect it. He decided not to bother and went to his nearest store at monks cross York to see if they would give him a saddle and stem from their stock. They didn't have any but told him to pop in a week later. I popped in a week later instead and there on a stand was the bike we had bought. I explained I just wanted the saddle and the helpful lady said she would ask her manager if she could give me one. The reply was no but to ring that flaming 0845 number which I refused to do. I asked the assistant if she could ring head office so I could speak to a human being. Unfortunately the human being was insolent, rude and had zilch customer service skills! I might as well have been talking to the speaking clock who would have made more sense. I have come away with no saddle just a 'yeah I'll email your father to arrange reimbursement' so WE can buy a saddle. I vow never to buy from sports direct online again which is a shame as I have spent a lot of money with them over the years. My partner is on the verge of going into a store and taking what is rightfully ours off a bike. I am furious as I have worked in customer services for other companies and would bend over backwards to help customers so we didn't lose their custom.

SportsDirect.com overcharging credit card

I logged in the site SportsDirect.com to make an order as I have done before. Then I switched the currency from GBP to EURO. Added 5 items in the basket (total cost: 54.57 EURO) and proceeded to order where I chose standart delivery for additional 3.99 EURO. Grand total became 58.56 EURO as expected and completed the order for which I received a confirmation mail (attachment_1.png). What I did not expect was the bank statement where it was written I was charged with USD currency (attachment_2.png). The bank account native currency is neither EURO nor USD, but BGN. It is calculable that if I pay 58, 56 EUR in the equivalent in local currency (114, 72 BGN) is about 8% lower than when paid with 79, 42 USD USD (equivalent to 125, 05 BGN). That's why I chose EURO in first place. Until the chekout I never saw a hint about paying in other than the chosen EURO currency.
Two days after I have written about this problem to [protected]@SportsDirect.com (because I have never saw other method of contact with them) I noticed anoterh anomaly: The placed order (attachment_3.png) in status 'Awaiting Courier Pickup' seen in details now costs subtotal 62.56 EURO (attachment_4.png) as if I had chosen express delivery for 7.99 EURO. They have still not contacted me but I see a pathetic try to fix things up and make me bear the guilt.

P.S.: My personal data in this report is minimized to Name, order number and order contents. I think it would be enough to identify the problem correctly. However if you need more details contact me the mail address I left on the address field in this form report and I will help with anything that could lead to a better outcome.

SportsDirect.com bad service and rude manager Chris

n October 2014, I purchased a Karrimor Long Down Jacket/coat for my wife, from Sports Direct in Borehamwood. I paid £69.99 (reduced from £139.99). The coat tickets stated inter alia, that the coat is "Water Resistant".

This weekend, my wife and I were shopping and we were caught
in a rain shower. My wife complained that the water had gone straight through and she was wet under the arms and around the shoulders. We had been sheltering from the main downpour and having waited for the rain to subside, we walked across the road and down a turning to the car. I do not expect the coat to be waterproof but I also do not expect at that price for a coat to literally allow all the water to penetrate, especially when it clearly states "water resistant" Quite simply, it would be ridiculous for my wife to not wear the coat for the whole winter for fear that it may rain.

This afternoon at approximately 12:20pm, I took the coat (including the original bag, tickets and receipt) back to the store in Borehamwood. My intention was to either exchange (if the coat was faulty or to pay more for a better quality one)I initially spoke to a girl assistant who was very polite and called a lady of senior authority. This lady was also polite and called the Manager; Chris. He immediately said "the coat is not waterproof" I said that I knew that but explained that this was a shower and we were only in it for a few minutes. I also said (as I had previously explained to both the ladies) that I was not looking for a refund but either an exchange as the coat may be faulty or a higher priced item that is both warm and waterproof that I was prepared to pay more towards. Again, the manager said that he was not prepared to exchange as in his opinion "the coat is not faulty" He then said "how do I know that your wife hasn't been standing in a shower for 5 hours"
I said that that was a ridiculous comment to make and his response was "It is my word against yours"

Even if we put the issue of whether or not there is a fault with the
coat aside. For a Manager of a store to speak to a paying customer in that way, is disgraceful. Not only that but he didn't even think to offer a replacement or even to show me an alternative. He was quite simply adamant that he was not going to offer me anything, even if I was prepared to pay more.

The fact is that the coat does not resist water, despite the fact that
it clearly states on the ticket "water resistant" It leaked straight
through to my wife's clothing and the manager was down right rude to me in front of other customers. I then told him that I was going to make sure that people get to know about this He
then responded by saying "get out of my store or I shall call security to have you removed". I know for a fact that Managers of proper and prestigious stores would have substantiated the facts and then dismissed the manager.
I certainly would have thought that a Store Manager would be polite, helpful and try to promote goodwill. Chris (he refused to provide his surname, advising me that he was under no legal obligation to do so) quite clearly did the opposite.
It is very evident that the company do not care about customer care and have their managers enforce that policy. They want your money and have all become very rich on taking it. One of the other commenters had it right when they said that the store staff are unhelpful, the merchandise is low quality and at a low price due to the fact that they own the brands so that the RRP price is actually misappropriation. Perhaps there is a legal argument or case here?

SportsDirect.com mislead information

I placed an order online for some football shirts, I specifically placed the order 2months in advance due to the world cup coming. I received an email advising that the delivery would arrive on the 06/06/14. After waiting for the date to come and not leaving my house all day I received another email advising that they had run out of stock and I would not get these items.
I find that this is a very poor service and inconvenient as they should check their stock before hand and advise customers that they will not have any stock. In future I will not being using sports direct again.

We just did shopping at the london beckton branch. As usual it was pathetic. We customers are paying for third class goods and services. We bought a pair of trainers adidas. The person on the floor said buy some insoles but the trainer fits fine. We said maybe next time he said yeh yeh...and was rude just to sell a extra insole. At the counter one of the shoe turned out to be dirty and damaged so the cashier put it in the bag without telling me. Then I said that it was damaged he said thats the last pair. And he's put them through the bill. I said call the manager if the give me a discount i'll take them if not why pay full for a damaged he got agitated and put his hands in his pants right infront if my child and other people and was showing how much of a twitch he had and showing how much of a bad boy he was. Yes that was more of a dirty sportsdirect bad boy he was nice marketing skills wandering if they are selling a itch cream and a small demo is done! Then the message was from the manager cant come dont you know we dont give discounts or refunds pay and go. So we paid and I told other customers that I had been ripped off and had to buy a damaged shoe. No refund. And guess what went to JD SSports shop next door and it was cheaper.

SportsDirect.com Rude manager, unclear exchange policy

I would like to file a complain on the manager of Sports Direct who was on duty in the Cribbs Causeway on Sunday, 01/06/2014. I bought a pair of Karrimor Running shoes on the 30 May 2014, and wore them on 31 May 2014. They were really uncomfortable, and my toes bruised after wearing them for an hour. (My nails were properly clipped so that wasn't the problem.) Therefore, I brought the shoe back for an exchange on the 1st June. The manager was called and I was told that the shoe is not in a saleable condition. I was really surprised as I was told differently at the till 2 days ago by the staff that I am entitled to an exchange if I am not happy with the shoe. I was very calm and told the manager that the shoe is in a clean condition and I couldn't wear the pair of shoe as it will cause me serious sport injury if I do. The manager was very rude and raised her voice saying that it is my own problem and I should have noticed it when I try it on. She also repeated raising her voice that it was my mistake to wear them outside and she will not be able to re-sell the pair of shoe which is muddy. (The shoe is in a clean condition, FYI and not muddy at all and I only wore them for an hour). That is truly not the way a manager should speak to a customer. It is very unprofessional.

To be shouted like that in front of so many other customers, was truly embarrassing both for my husband and my 8 yr old daugther ( who said she will never return to Sport Direct again). Seriously, I do not know what can I do with a pair of trainers which cause pain in my toes. Couldn't Sports Direct be more understanding with the need of the customer? I felt that Sport Direct could have been clearer and more specific in their exchange policy. Most important of all, please employ some manager who can explain it in a more appropriate and kind manner; not repeatedly shouting that it is the customer mistake which is not. And also, I shouldn't be mislead to believe that I can exchange for another pair of shoe if I am not satisfy. This is NOT the case at all. Sport Direct should change the exchange the policy to include the discretion of the manager.

I really do hope Sports Direct will take action on this Manager as it is really bad for the reputation of the store. I will take this matter to the consumer bureau if no serious action is taken to look into this. I am very disappointed with the service, especially the manager and the unclear exchange policy.

SportsDirect.com Horrendous service

Visited the merryhill store today 24/05/14. My son asked for a size shoe.. The store staff came back and said they had none of that size so was asked about a different style of shoe but was ignored by both the staff member and department manager and when I said we would look for a different store they both ignored us.
Service was terrible will not visit that store again, even though its my closest store and have spent a small fortune in there. NOT HAPPY WITH MERRYHILL STORE

SportsDirect.com store manager

i visited the sport direct store in wood green london n22 on tuesday 10 /12/13 . when i entered the store the security gard in the store asked me to remove my hat. i told him i could not remove my hat cause that was again my religion to expose my hair. also there were muslim customers in the store which has burkas on coverining their face and he did not approach them. he them call the store manager, whom is another african man like him self. both of them has been descriminative and the manager who is an african man, says i dont have to spend my money in the store, cause they dont need it. these people should be removed from customer service and management with imediate effect. i will also be logging this complain to the newspaper if your board does not do anything about it. they are discriminative against thier own kind. its disgraceful.

I went to your store to buy two BMX bikes for my twins birthday this Monday. I was told the Muddy fox ransom had a puncture and was the only one left on display and given the option if I wanted I could have it for five pounds less. Which I decided to take it but when I got home the bell was broken off. I then was offered the BMX Muddy fox Mutant and was told it came with axle pegs only to find out that they where not in the box. In this time of a recession I feel that is false advertising and it also put a sad look on my 8 year old faces I would like a new bell for the ransom bike and some axle pegs for my mutant bike.

SportsDirect.com Exchange in store refused

I saw in the Sports Direct website a good offer for a set of fins, mask and snorkel. They come in range of sizes and the one I ordered seemed a bit loose. I went in store and tried a lower size and it fitted perfectly. I broght all my receipts and everything. Of course I hadn't yet used it so everything as just as it was delivered. The store employee was happy to do the exchange ... BUT If I paid the difference in price. Online it's £6 cheaper than in-store. I said this doesn't make any sense as I have the right to return the stock and /or ask for a replacement for free. If I do it by post it'll cost me and the company money for the shipping. This way is pain free for both. As two employees couldn't workout the system I asked to speak to the manager and got the same asnwer from her.
As this didn't make any sense to me I called Customer Service when I got home (i had to use Google to find the number as they don't provide a telefone number on the website and there are preset e-mail headings which didn't match my case). The Customer service rep told me the manager should've have made the exchange!

Next day I went back and asked them to call the customer service, but they refused to do that. When I tried I found out they were closed on Sunday. And so to date, they have refused to make the exchange in store whithout me paying the difference between the store price and the online price for the same product.

SportsDirect.com overcharged

On 15th of June I have gone to the shop and made a purchase of 8 items.
Unfortunately I was holding my cash in hand and the cashier whom I can identify but don’t know his name has seen this. When I got back home and checked my items and the receipt I realised that I have been charged an item twice. So i bought 8 items and was charged for 9.
I went back to the shop the next day and talked to the supervisor of that day, 16th of June. He asked that he kept the receipt and my details and would get back to me the next day, Monday. Thankfully, I was already a bit suspicious of the events of the previous day and didn’t let them keep the receipt or by now I would have been cheated by the Sports Direct Islington branch staff twice!
He promised that they would check the camera and this way they could be sure I was not lying. That would have been an acceptable solution if only it was delivered…
5 days went by and I didn’t hear a word. Today I called the head office as there is no direct line to the store available and I was put through a member of the staff. I asked him about my case and he hung up on me when I asked that he gives me his name. I had to call again the head office and wait until I am put through to another member of staff. This time I asked for their name in advance, and I was helped by the manager who wouldn’t let me know whether it was him that hung up on me or some other person. Needless to say how rude and frustrating I find this behaviour to be.
The manager he knows nothing of my claim/case and that he didn’t have my details, that nobody has checked the cameras and all in all he’s confirmed that they hadn’t been looking into the matter as I had been promised. I suggested that we sit down and see the camera together but he’s told me this is not possible due to security reasons (this means nothing) and so I promise to God, if I go tomorrow and am unable to collect my money I will call the police in the store and demand that the camera footage is released.

SportsDirect.com wrong delivery

I've placed my order 04.03.2013 and according to the tracking system was delivered to Riga, Latvia 12.03.2013 (pretty fast by the way). But thanks to DHL Latvia my wife received this package 27.03.2013 after my mailing with the sportsdirect and DHL. On my 3 e-mails sportsdirect didn't respond at all! DHL was sure what they didn't receive for me any package. But finally my wife received. She opened package and was very shocked! Instead of few t-shirts and short inside the package was one pair of thermal pants, shirt and cup! Now, I must send back items which I didn't order at all at my own expenses! As I understood, sportsdirect not going to cover their mistake. They call it: exchange of items! I can not understand: what kind of exchange could be in such case if I still don't receive my original order. I can understand wrong sizing etc., but in my case not even single item match my order! Communication with the sportsdirect is very poor. Looks like they simple ignore me...

SportsDirect.com refund

I have made an order with www.sportsdirect.com and made a payment via credit card. After about a month I have contacted the shipping company and was told that the things were shipped back because SportsDirect has not provided them with our contact number at their request and were told to ship the package back to sports direct.
We have, upon filling in the form on their website, left the contact number.
When I found out about this I have contacted sports direct via email they have provided on their website. There was no reply for some time so I found their Facebook page through which I have sent a complaint message. After a few days i have received a reply which stated i will be getting the refund via cheque since they could not refund it on the credit card. Upon getting the cheque I was told in the bank I have to pay the bank fees which end up being about 1/10 of the whole sum. I decided i should not have to pay for it so I contacted them again via Facebook (since that was the only place I got a reply from); no answer for a few days. I wrote an email to the customer service email but no reply again. After some time of no reply I made an international phone call to the their CS. During the phone call I was told I will be reached that same day by the team leader to have the issue resolved. That didn't happen, so I phoned them back the next day when I was told that cheque is the only way I could be refunded according to company policy. I was also told that the refund problem could be theirs. Again a mistake made on their account for which I should pay the banking fees to cash in the cheque plus the 40day waiting period to get the money.
I have never had any problems with any other companies making a refund on the credit card.
Not happy with the answers I got I asked for a supervisor's email to have the issue brought to a higher level.
I wrote another email, and didn't get a reply for another 10 days after which I made another phone call where I got to talk to a third person that had no idea what I am talking about (even after I gave her the order number). I had to resend all of the emails and hope that things will be resolved. Well that didn't happen. I got the same reply that the only refund I could get was via cheque.
I am not satisfied with that since it was their mistake on all accounts: firstly- with not providing the courier with contact number
secondly- with not refunding via the credit card, even though it states on their site that all of the refunds will be made the same way payment was made
thirdly-they were referring me to the free email customer service when I asked for a refund for international phone calls I had to make since I have not received any responses to my queries. I made those phone calls because there was no movement via email.
So now I am asking for the funds to be refunded on a credit card and that I be refunded for international phone calls I had to make.

SportsDirect.com Items did not arrive

I ordered some items on the 1st Dec thinking that they would arrive in time for Chritsmas, they did not and still have not. I contacted YODEL who informed me that they had been delivered and that my dispute was with Sports Direct. I eventually got through to them 45 minutes later and a costly 0845 call. I was told they would look into it. Three weeks later, nine emails later, two posted letters and 15 phone calls later I still got either an answer phone or no answer. UNTIL I rang [protected] as usual but requested 0 for reception and bypassed the totally incapable customer service team. The receptionist naively gave me the name of head of complaints:
Michelle Simpson : Extension: 2426. The COE is David Forsey and his PA is Lauren Rooke on Extension 2490. Eventually Michelle Simpson did answer the phone and after me totally throwing my toys out my pram did agree to look into it. I have to say as head of customer services she had little power or knowledge when dealing with such a complaint. She did however, come back to me later offering a refund but with no real explanation as to what had gone wrong. Anyway, I had also reported this to PAYPAL as that was my payment method. I have found them to be totally efficient and this evening saw that the money for the items has been refunded.
I suggest that if you have a similar problem that you bypass the queueing system with their customer services. Go directly to Michelle Simpson on [protected] Ext: 2426 or email her on michelle.[protected]@sportsdirect.com at least that way, as head of customer services she will see how inefficient her team are and may address the problem so there are less cases like mine.. Totally frustrating...

I ordered a bike on the 18th of April and Hermes collected it on the 23rd and on the 24th it was out with courier. I have still not received the delivery as of the 11th of May. I’ve tried to contact someone at sports direct but after starting a resolver case and sending 20 emails to customer services I have failed to get any response. I received an email from Hermes today saying is probably lost! I’d like someone to look into this as I need a bike for recovery after surgery to a fractured back. I have been waiting 18 days since I got the courier message and 15 days since I messaged sports direct and still nothing!
🤬fuming!

Thank you for this, I'm having the same problem so have just sent an email to Ms Simpson using the address you supplied. Hopefully I can get it sorted now. The SportsDirect customer services really are terrible, the experience has been enough to put me off using the shop for life.

SportsDirect.com lack of service

i purchased a order worth 30 pound over 4 weeks ago. still waiting for it. told it would be redispatched via courier. still waiting. this is to warn you that if you do speak to customer services about online orders they will give you a load of bull just to get you off the phone. these item cannot be bought instore as they are for a larger person. why dont they hold a few items like boxers instore. or why cant you order instore and then you collect when ithe item/order has arrived. this is so much better. mike ashley sells from large retail outlets surely they could hold orders in these places. and also it wont cost £3.99 (standard delivery charge) to collect in petrol used. since they have used this yodel company it has been nothing but grief when it comes to delivery.

SportsDirect.com Decency

Tried on some swimming costumes in this sports shop. There was only one. Saloon door type cubicle on the shop floor. I was a bit unsure about it so put my clothes over the door so people could see it was occupied. A tall man came close and peered in when I was totally nude. I realised that any tall person could see in and there was nowhere to hide as the mirror was placed facing the door. Sportsdirect Oxford has not responded to my complaint and I have no evidence that my peeping tom was deliberate so it is not al ice matter. Just a warning then that this shop is not what it should be,

ive spent a small fortune in the strabane store over the past number of weeks and im very angry at the service i recieved
there on the 28/9/14. i had brought slazenger trousers and jumpers at a great price the week before. i travelled from kilmacrennen outside of letterkenny to avail of theses offers again, but when i got there the prices were higher but still of good value so i took three slazenger jumpers to the counter. the price on the jumpers were 7 pound each and also a red label that read two for 10 pound, the week before the same jumpers were 3.50 each but as i had the matching trousers and t-shirts i needed them to complete the outfit. i went to the counter and the lady said the total was 21 pound, i said to her there 7 pound each or two for 10 and pointed to the label, as i have 3 is that not 17 pound, she repiled by calling the manager, he came over and then he called over a young girl also a staff member and ask her why she had put two for 10 labels on the jumpers, she replied saying thats the offer on them. he then gave her a dirty look and ripped the 2 for 10 labels of and said to the lady serving me that they were 7 pound each. not once did the manager speak to me and did not say sorry for the mistake, i had to leave the jumpers back because i only had 19 pound with me and had travelled a fair distance for theses jumpers. also my 9 year old son was with me. i understand that mistakes can arise as my sister is also a manager of a store in letterkenny. but the manager should of never spoke to his staff in that way or gave her a dirty look. he should of also said sorry for the price mix up. my son went back in about 15 mins later to pick up two of the jumpers at 14pound cause i needed them and i only had enough for two then. the labels were still on 2 for 10 and the same process happen again manager was called again he never spoke to my son and again he ripped labels off and said to staff member there 7 each, very bad manager, he should off treated his customers and staff better. i left very very upset, i was treated like ###.
