On Friday the 10 of March 2017 at ± 18h25 I was purchasing supper for my family at spar Wierda park 2 when I was approached by a local casual who requested employment or cash from me, while the casual was begging, one of the spar staff members approached Us and started yelling at us to '' ### of his complex ''. I kept quite until he finished screaming and then I asked him what did I do wrong ? since I was just taking half of my orders to my car and still waiting for the other half. He said he is will kick me out if I don't ''### of now '' .

I went out and got to my car and realised that I couldn't go home without my children's supper . I went back and collected my orders before going to spar to try and lay a complain . when I got to Spar I did not meet a solution or closure.

I'm a loyal and dedicated customer of spar wierda park 2 for more than 12 yrs,
In my whole life I've never been harassed and humiliated as he did in front of other shoppers . I tried to complain at the shop but they told me it has been noted and they will follow up on it.

I humbly ask for assistance from concerned managers. I still don't know if I, m still welcome to shop at spar or am I banned. I fear for my safety, as i was threatened and warned by one of your staff member.

I request that my complain be resolved and that action be taken so no other loyal shopper experiences such shocking experience as I did.

Purchase spar 2l - box milk from Starwood spar and the milk was spoil . check the date on the box and the date expired . This week purchased 2 Rivermead Fresh chicken get home and the chicken is smelling funny.
I did not have the time to take the milk back and now i got two chickens at home that i cant use .

I visited the store on Saturday. I purchased groceries to the value of R742.54. I realized that I was overcharged for 2 items. Both items were fiveroses 500g tea bags which was advertised for R27.99. I have a photo of the advert in my possession.

I was charged 2 X R65.99 = R131.98 instead of R27.99 x 2 = R55.98

I brought this to the attention of the cashier who called the supervisor. The supervisor was unable to sort out and I was referred to the store manager - Basil. I approached him and informed him about the incorrect charge . he was very rude and obnoxious and was adamant the the price charged was correct. I couldn't get a say and left the store demotivated.

I sought some advise from reputable friends who asked me to take the matter with the media. I though of bringing this to your attention before I go to the media.

Your intervention will be appreciated.

*im a regular customer at spar mafikeng and trust me there is no smile upon the cashiers, today i went there did my shopping and when i went to pay, i went to a till, the cashier was not doing anything and there was no customer( with a calm manner i asked her may i come pay by you ? ) she had no smile and replied rude and said: you can see their is no one but you still asking, i then told her i do not know her intentions and do not know her daily work, i thought she was waiting for a supervisor for a random price-check, she then said you can see im not doing anything (With a rude face appearance and harshly talking). She then tilled my items, while she was tilling she said again ( i hope you not swiping) i then answered i am my card, she then said ...Ieshhhhhhh just go to that other side

On the Spar leaflet dated 21.02.2017 - 05.03.2017 there is a "special" for Bar-One Ice Cream for R 39.99. When I got to the till at Fontana Lambton, they rang it up as R 70.00 odd rand. On showing them the leaflet the manager was called, he shrugged his shoulders and just said that it was a printing error! Seriously - there is absolutely NO note anywhere in the store or on the fridges apologizing for the "misprint". That is beyond pathetic and left me red faced at the till. This leaflet is dated 21.02.2017 and it is the 26the today! Surely they could have made a note in the past five days! These people are beyond incompetent and need a wake up. In future they must make sure about the "specials" that are being advertised as it is incompetence and the manager could have made a plan. Not sure if any action will be taken as this is the "service" that South Africa is giving their patrons these days - nobody is taking pride in their so-called service or companies anymore.

I am writing to Spar as I was extremely unsatisfied with the way Parklane Spar handled my experience with your buttercream doughnuts.

On the 02 February 2017 I had purchased a buttercream doughnut from Parklane Spar. When I was on my way from work I decided to eat it and when I halfway through the doughnut I looked at it an there was a cockroach in the doughnut cream... I was utterly disgusted and through it back in the box and spat and spat. I almost smashed my car as the shock and anxiety I felt.

My boyfriend then took the doughnut back to the shop and the manager on duty asked if we want another one?Like really! He then asked if we want out R5 back. He then said there is nothing else he can do.

The same night I called a number on the website, I cant remember the name of the person. She apologised and promised to call me the next day.

The next day I received a call from someone at the Spar and the apologised and promised to send a voucher.

They had given me a R50 voucher from them.

I feel like they did not handle the situation in a proper manner. I will never purchase anything from that shop again.

Went to spar today to purchase some things I needed including bread just to find a fly baked inside of the bread I bought. I went back to the store after walking 30 minutes back to town the manager gave me an extra loaf which wasn't needed an I gave the bread to someone working on the street. It's painful to come across this as I had high hopes for spar competing against the other 2 big brands. I believe I will loose hope and move my shopping back either to pick n pay or shoprite.

My name is Thabisa Brown. I was at SPAR (Sutherland Ridge at Umtata) on Saturday (4th February 2017). I was helped by the lady called Lelethu Nocuze. Firstly she was not friendly at all to customer but that was none of my problems. I wanted to swipe and have a cashback of R180, she then asked me if I have R20 then she will give me R200 and I didn't have I then asked if I can give R50 and that was my big mistake. She started shouting at me and told me she only have one note of R100. I then made a comment to my friend that I don't like her attitude. Yhoo that's when she lost it and insult in front of other customers and other staff members were glorifying her.
Let me quote her words: "You customers you think you are better and you know nothing I am sick and tired of your nonsense and you can go report to the manager if you like. There's nothing you can I will never loose my job even if you can report me."

I then asked her politely to keep quite as she was making matters worse she refused and told me that I am not her God she will never keep quite and when I left her till she was still going on and going on. When I was by the door I asked the security guard what's her name and then he refused to tell me but I didn't mind because I knew I was going to check her name on the till slip as she didn't have a name tag.

I was so upset because she really insulted with the things I wont even mention here because she was soooo rude.

If you are going to keep people like that, you are going to loose customers and they denting the brand of SPAR. I want the company to deal with her not the manager because seemingly she is not scared of the manager.

One of spar cashier Amanda ramashaba gave her contact number to my man to call her, later after she discovered that my man did not call her she started passing funny comments to me every time I go to the Store. I confronted her in December and she never said anything to me . The next day my man went to the shop and saw her she told my man that she will kill me and I should wait for her after work at 8pm. I've never seen such thing to all the stores I've been too, this lady always when she see me and my man at the store she will greet my man but give me attitude and I ask myself why ? I went to the shop to report this to her manager and I was hoping she will be suspended but the shop did not because on Monday again she did the same threatening message to my man that I wanted her to be fired . Spar birchgate is the store close to my apartment and for me to go to another stores just because of her, hell no I won't do that . I want the shop do the proper thing or the head office because this I can not tolerate

This afternoon, 2016-01-11 thirsty as i was, i walked into a SPAR at Dagbreek, Welkom in the Free State, took two 2lt Spar flavoured sparkling water which amounted to R10 each and then proceeded to the till to pay.

To my surprise i was informed by the teller that they only accept card payments above R30 of purchase otherwise i will have to use cash... of which i did not have in my possession. I then requested a for purchase of R10 airtime, but the moment the teller turned to her "Boss", the "Boss" loudly shouted at her and told her to do her job and proceeded that she has limits to follow and weirdly also said that she must not touch him. All this was said in a rude manner and infront of customers.

Further at the KIOSK i noticed a note written "NO CARD PURCHASE UNDER R30 ACCEPTED" as i proceeded to leave the store!

Sadly i left the - What I thought is a convinient store - still thirsty and went drove off.

I did not know that Spar has payment restriction as such that lead to my inconvinience and dissatisfaction.

The "Boss" is a very unfriendly person it seems and has no customer service principles that i believe are practiced at other Spars'

I bought a corned beef on the 16 Dec 2016, and popped it into the freezer. Upon unwrapping it to cook, the entire house was filled with a horrendous smell, which made everyone feel immediately queasy!. I called the store back (Vangate Superspar) and was told my the manager Andy that as I had lost the slip, I could not return it, despite the wrapper clearly showing all the relevant details. I'm now left to run around on the night of Christmas eve in search of a corned beef, and left out of pocket with R130! I will never again purchase anything at Spar!

i would like to lodge a complaint against spar thornhill, for extreme bad service I got from Rosslyn..on the 28th of october i bought sime staff for church, and lost the slip on the 5th i came to the store to ask that they do a reprint and immediately rosslyn said it was not possible, and other whiye young who was there took my details n said it is possible n would make sure i get it ..but she went on leave then when to the store found rosslyn n she told me how rude i was and how the people i was with where commenting the different colourful shoes they wear n how its not her problem that i lost my slip..after that hidious conversation she then took my details to say she would call me..but i have went to tje store several times she always has an excuse n the last time she called me my father had passed on i could nt get to the store n that week after which i went to her n explained but till this very day i still go to the but she just lools at me couldnt b bothered n i think she has convinently forgotten..i get that ots not their prblm i lost my slip but where is the customer servicr im very regular in the store i have asked for the store manager number which she declined to give i need this matter to be sorted please rosslyn cannot go on giving customer such attifude and get away with it

Each time we go to the billing counter they keep swiching the swiping machines between the counters. Which clearly shows they have very poor connectivity to the server.

I decided to go to Spar Broad Acres to buy biltong, pay for my Dstv and to get some cash back, the service was good when I got to the till the cashier was friendly all smiles and making conversation with me, unfortunately I couldn't pay for Dstv at his till so he directed me to another till at the kiosk that was Sam and he has good customer service well done brother

when I get to the second till there was only one cashier I stand on the line as the cashier was still busy with someone on the till, the was a lady that came and jumped the que until she saw us standing and she ask if we were on the que I said yes, when it was my turn to be helped I was directed to the other till next to the one in the kiosk "flip I am late'' I said, the lady that jumped the que said 'UZOBA STRONG' meaning I'll be strong I asked her to repeat what she was saying but she was very rude in a way that she continued talking even when I was walking away, I was so pissed when I left the shop and its not that there is no Spar next to my work place there is one its just that they don't have biltong like the one I normally buy at broad acres

this morning i decided to quickly go and do a lil grocery shopping at Fontana Cresta Spar. When i got home I quickly made myself a sandwich, while eating my boyfriend decided to make himself a sandwich and he is very careful of what he puts in his mouth, only to find out that the Rama will be expiring on the 4th of December! And today is only the 27th November! How the hell will we finish a 500g of Rama when we there are only two of us and hardly eat rama! I felt so sick. Only to find out that the Simply Chicken Premium Polony expired on the 13 October 2016! Why is that product still on their shelves? No maan imagine if i had eaten that i would be so sick, and for a pregnant woman that i am I honestly do not know what my unborn baby would be going through eating rotten food☹️
As im writing this i am so disappointed, because as i opened the carots only to notice that they are rotten as well! Unfortunately for them theh have to expiry or Best Before date. This is so embarrassing for a Fontana spar! I think whoever issued their health certificate should visit that shop before people die of rotten food!
Been trying to call them but my calls just don't go through

I bought a pack of Frozen Prawn Tails - Cut and de-veined from VC Spar in Dalview, Brakpan on the 10th of November 2016 . It is a SPAR product.

I had to clean all the prawns however it is marked as de-veined.

Please see attached photos.

This is not acceptable specially when it is such a pricy item.

Spar supermarket in my area is located at 3 minutes walking distance, so we go there on a daily basis. We wish it would be a woolworth's, so we could receive better service and higher standards, but unless we want to drive 20 minutes to get to the closest woolworth's, this is the supermarket we are forced to deal with.
On the 6th of November 2016, I bought Beef Bulk Potjiekos meat with a packed date of 06.11.2016 and best before 09.11.2016, when I got home I refrigarated it and that is where it stayed until I was ready to cook it on Sunday 13th of November 2016. Now it was 4 days after the best before date which I didnt even know about because for some crazy reason I trust Spar's brand after being warned against their meat several times in the past, nevertheless, when I took it out of the fridge it was off.
I took it back to Spar to show them and instead of listening to my story managers by the names of David Mausrurwa & Faziela Muzozvion were very quick to check which date I bought it as if I was lying because I did not have the payslip. When I tried to explain they moved past me and up to the office, Fazila could not even respond to me or even acknowledge my existince. After taking forever in the office David returned telling me he spoke to Oswald Coetzee (owner) and he agrees that I clearly did something to the meat as it would not look like that after a week in the fridge, he then walked away leaving myself, my husband and the rotten meat on the counter just there in the store. I felt so humiliated, and disrespected. I was accused of doing something to the meat to make it rotten, why would I buy meat then cause it to get rotten then take it back to the store? Besides that, do I not get treated as a valued customer? Do I not deserve respect?
I was appalled and I stil am, I have supported Spar for the longest time regardless of the high prices and bad service and the one time I return an item, I get treated like a criminal and disrespected in my face.

Im disgusted.

I am a Ventersdorp resident who purchases from Spar on a daily basis, this morning being 05/11/2016 at about 10h00 I purchased bread eggs, and a few other items, when I got home and we started with breakfast we found that the eggs I purchase looked strange as there was no white only a yellow.
I took the eggs back to the Ventersdorp Spar only to have some one called “Marutie” tell me he cannot assist me without my slip, he looed at the eggs, smelt them and said they don’t smell bad, but I assure you they don’t look like eggs...

Firstly it is raining in Ventersdorp, secondly I don’t expect that the stuff I purchase from Spar to be bad or rotten so I threw my slip into the dustbin, which is now covered with other foodstuff.
When this Spar was run by the previous owner he did similar to us and we stopped purchasing at Spar Ventersdorp, and you know the end result.

All I am asking for is that Spar do not sell us rotten products, and when a product is found, to be courteous enough to replace or refund me, Spar advertises double the quality yet this Spar in Ventersdorp has not got to the service levels we have experienced in other towns.

Seen as I have been to your Spar store to purchase the product and I returned to your Spar store a second time and treated badly, you can arrange with Spar Ventersdorp to please collect the rotten egg product and replace it with a fresh batch of eggs.

I am quite sure denial will be the reply from the store.

On the 15th Oct, I went to Spar and i was helped by a rude customer named Lucky. I used a card to pay, i was not aware i had to operate the speed point by myself as im used to cashiers doing it all the time.

So she instructed me to press either cheque or savings option on the speedpoint, i pressed it about 5 times and it didnt not respond. i told her, and she rudely said "you have to press like this" and when she pressed it responded obviously because she was used to it. She was very impatient.

She made feel like an idiot in front of other customers and i nicely asked why she was rude, she denied it. Even when i asked if she had 5 mtn and 12 voda airtime her reply was " mmm" instead of "yes".

I went to the Manager, Melanie, who apologised on her behalf, she did explain that customers have to operate the speed point now . She then took down my number and said that she would deal with the issue and give me a call back.

Today is the 21st of Oct, Melanie has not gotten back to me. Which has led me to believe that she did not speak to tbe cashier. I feel like Melanie was like "another one of those" after i left the store. Very untrustworthy manager.

We unfortunately only have this Spar as we all live about 47 km out of town, this is the most poorly managed Spar around the the lowveld. You do not buy meat as its usually expired, the packaging is all bloated greenish colour. You do not buy frozen foods, we bought a box of cocktail pies and at home we opened the box all was melted into one heap of dough. You cannot take back any items as we all heard the manager ban's you from "his" shop when he wants to do so.
Products we requested to be sold here, the answers: Its to much of a hassle and they cater for the black customers we as white customers can drive to Nelspruit if we really need the product. Expected of us to drive 47km to buy a product of R100. Maybe the managers from other Spar shops should be rotated to this one and notice the bad service.
Take aways are horrible it looks just terrible, not attractive, neat and tidy.
