This small chain has a few locations in NC. But the Bordeaux location in Fayetteville, NC has problems potential members need to be aware of. Since no one cares about current members, maybe potential ones can make a difference.

Like all gyms, the staff acts nice and attentive when you sign up. After that-forget it. But you would not want their help or guidance anyway, the employees are mostly teenage kids who spend their time playing and flirting with each other. The employees-even the managers and older employees-are worthless. I've seen one of the older managers playing dodge ball in the front lobby with the teenagers. When the managers away the employees play.

The TVs are so old, they must have picked them up at Goodwill. The television pictures are so dark they can't be seen from the cardio equipment. Not that you would want to see what is on; keep in mind this gym is in "ACC Country". During the ACC basketball tournament, a request to an employee to change the channel on one of the 5 TVs to the tourney was denied-the TV was on ice skating. Yes, ice skating. The employee claims they were not "allowed" to change it. But later in the month I see the same slug change the channel to something he wants to watch-on MTV.

Do you like to listen to your own music when you work out? Or would you rather listen to what the childish employees select? Well, you have no choice. There are Bose speakers mounted right in front of the cardio equipment, and if the manager is away, they are blasting what ever crap the employees want to hear. And it s usually some type of rap-not what the demographic of the people who go there care to hear. Now there is a protocol for what should be on and the level, and also what should be on in the locker room too-the owner "Bob" has dictated it. But the employees ignore it, especially on the weekends, and laugh off what he says. You may as well leave your MP3 music at home. A request to turn the music down gets a surly attitude from the kid/s or another "we can't do anything about it" response.

The cardio equipment is often broken in some form or another-the machines have the ability for an RCA plug headphone to be plugged in for TV audio, but since all the little black boxes are damaged in some form or another, your chances of finding 1) a machine (treadmill, elliptical, bike) that works 2) has a cardio theater jack that works and 3) is clean enough you dare get on it are slim to none.

Which brings me to another problem. Cleanliness. I've seen a used condom in the locker room. Maybe it was left behind by the boy employee with the funny sideburns who vanishes from duty with his girlfriend into the closets. Vacuum the floors? No. Pick up trash on the floors? No. Clean dirty socks or jocks or underwear or tee shirts from the tops of the lockers? Nope, nope nope and nope. Wipe the machines down even once every 2 weeks or so? Nope.

Why in the company pays to have 3-4-5 employees working at one time is a mystery to the members. They spend most of their time talking up front or in the offices. They contribute nothing to retaining members by providing a clean well-managed place to work out.

If you think you're going to take advantage of the hours by coming in close to closing, say an hour ahead-forget it. The clocks in the gym can all read 15 minutes until the hour, but the announcement by the employees at that time is "The Spa will be closing in 5 minutes" comes on. And then the employees come around and turn the TV off in front of you.

This is not a real customer friendly place. This is what you get when you have no competition. There is no viable competition in this market.

If you are considering joining, say you're coming into town as part of BRAC, be aware of these issues. Don't say you weren't warned. Comments and requests to the staff gets you nothing, and complaints to the main office may make a change for a week or two, but then its back to the old ways.

I do not recommend signing up. I signed up in January of 2015 because they had two promotions going. One was sign up for eighteen months at $50 monthly while the other one was two years at $64.95 monthly and a year free. I decided to pay full price and have the free year. July 2016 my payment was taken out automatically, so I called to find out why and to get it sorted. They took my payment and assured me it wouldn't happen again. The same thing happened in August when I spoke to a manager and again in September. In October, this past Monday, I had to call again and the number did not go through. I went to there location and was given another number to call. This time I was I was speaking to the European Day Spa and the woman I spoke to had to get her manager to go over my file. They called back two days later and informed me that I had been signed up for another eighteen months as of August and that I would be making payments throughout 2017. When I told her that I had not signed up again she said that she wasn't allowed to break the contract, but would personally cancel it in January. I was duped and if you're reading this, then you've been warned.

This place is AWFUL! I signed up almost 3 years ago for my husband and I to get healthy, as I had just had a baby and he was diagnosed with MS and we were told that working out would be good for him. After a few trips to the gym, which was awful. Outdated equipment, old tvs (one didnt work) and a child care room that smelled, my husband began to decline in health. As we began his process to get a higher VA disability rating as well as fighting to get SSDI disability, I wrote the company and asked to cancel our contract since my husband is disabled. (was medically retired due to disability from the ARMY) The response I received was outrageous. I was told that because he was not listed as 100% disabled from the VA or the State (SSDI) he was NOT considered "disabled enough". And our contract would NOT be cancelled and we would continue to be charged for services. For 2 years we have been fighting for his VA benefits and SSDI benefits this awful place has taken 100 from us monthly. We are so tight as it is and to lose that kind of money makes me sick to my stomach. And to know that my husband is a Veteran and they treat him (us) with such disrespect because he is not "disabled enough" is absolutely ridiculous! I called my bank to stop payment on their auto draft and they are using a loop hole to keep us from stopping the auto draft. The bank can only stop it if it is a recurring charge. So they are not putting it as a recurring charge. They go in every month and do a 1 time debit to the account., making it impossible to stop the recurring charge. This place is the lowest of the low. And when my contract ends... you can be sure I will NOT be renewing my contract and I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, JAG, BOSS, and the on Post ICE and anyone else I can think of so that I can steer others AWAY from this place!

Recently I received a letter from the Spa charging me $39.99 for the new updates that have been done to the Spa. I'm sorry but I thought that a business was responsible for taking care of itself. Everyone I have spoken to who received this letter has thrown it away and says they will sue if canceled over this charge not being paid. Never have I seen such a blatant attempt to usurp a contract.

I have recently joined the Spa Fitness Center at Bordeaux. I am quite disturbed by the above comments and hope that my experience doesn't turn into theirs. Since I have been a member, the staff has been nothing but marvelous and customer oriented. I do beleive they have a new manager and he is always helpful and courteous. I did appreciate being talked to on a first name basis, and I always receive a warm hello and am told to have a great workout. My experience thus far, has been great and I do reccommend the facility to anyone moving or already living in the area. I beleive the new manager's name is Colby and if anyone has an issue he would be more than happy to solve it for you. He has been helpful in everyway and I am grateful of this.

I quit going after the creepy security guard followed me to my car at Bordeux. He wanders through the place like he owns it. He stares at you, totally weird. Get away.

I moved 10 HOURS away from this place, but I still have to go to one of their affiliates that is 30 minutes away from where I live.

I don't go there, but am obligated to pay till the contract ends, so if they say the contract voids if you move 30 miles away,

THEY ARE LYING.

Save yourself the trouble and don't sign in the first place.

THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!
THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!
THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!
THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!

The speech about 3 years is because they want you to be committed is a lie.

I'm a current member and I don't see myself renewing my membership. After my experience with their "new renovations of the steam room and other additions."

I haven't been able to go as often as I'd like, I'm closer to Fort Bragg/Spring Lake, so I could go on post and work out with the guys for free.

Based on my last negative experience that put me over the edge. A locker room attendant by the name of Debbie Entenman was very rude and pushy. Again, I hadn't been going to the gym regularly. The one Sunday that I decide to go, I opted to shower and go directly to the steam room.

I was sitting all of five minutes before this rude woman (Debbie Enteman) began harassing me. She told me she was off that day, but I was not to wear shorts and a tank top in the steam room. I explained that I'd come directly from home, just to get some steam. She then went on to question me about my flip flops - asking me if they were shower shoes. I exclaimed that they were and that I wanted to be left alone for the duration that I was going to be in the steam room.

I proceeded to move to the opposite side of the steam room. Two other ladies were sitting in there and giving me shocked looks in response to this woman harassing me. When Debbie walked out to get some air, they said she'd harassed them the day before - telling one of the ladies that she had to wear a swimsuit. They heard her tell me that I could wear a towel, but she'd told them the day before that they couldn't wear a towel. She was so conflicted.

This rude woman walked back into the steam room and she went onto further harass me when I clearly moved away from her and didn't want anymore communication with her. She started to ask me if I had a high blood pressure. I responded that if I did, I would know to leave the steam room. I told her that I didn't want to hear anything else from her from that point on. Upon leaving, I asked for her full name, as I knew I was going to report her. I wasn't the only one that she'd harassed and if Spa Fitness knows what's best, they will counsel her on how to properly interact with all clients. She was completely rude and out of line, even her manager agreed.

It's one thing to impose standards, but they need to post a list of guidelines that enforce dress code for the steam room outside of the door. So that it's clear cut and there is no more confusion. They need to circulate the information to all members beforehand as well, because I know I'm not the only one who had this experience.

The latest negative thing at the SPA is they have what I call the wet area police. In the ladies locker room they have 3-4 women walking around who are rude and try to interving with everything you do around the wet areas. Don't do this, that, or the other, don't touch this, don't sit there, etc, etc. I have to say that the SPA use to be a nice place, but for the money you pay for membership it really is not worth it anymore. For those of you that are military related in some way, I suggest you use one of the 12 gyms in the base. They are not all that great but at least they are free. I have notice a big improvement at Bragg's gyms. They have a gym for classes only (Towle) and is great and free to all military and civ id card holders. Give it a try!

Doesn't anyone have anything good to say about this place? NO! And with good reason. The Bordeaux location is the one that is terrible. The Eutaw is not as bad, but the manager (Bill?) does not care. He is too busy trying to hit on the young girls who work there.

When the music is not cranked way up and playing garbage, when you find a piece of equipment that works, when the place has had the annual cleaning, then you may have a good workout. At least until you have to deal with the surly, smart aleck and worthless employees.

Where do they get these people? There are too many on duty at one time for what they do-which is sit in the offices and laugh and talk-probably at the people who are members...more on that.

These idiot employees mock potential members as they are taking them around showing them the gym. As they walk behind these prospective customers, they roll their eyes, make faces and just mock the very people they need to pay their salary. ###s. And they do it in full view of the other members (new and old) who are working out. Then they laugh about the customers in their little offices, within earshot of other members.

I agree with pretty much everyone's' comments.

Here's my story. I move to another state. We are talking about 700 miles away from Fayetteville, and they still will not let me out of the contract. They so happened joined an affiliated gym where I moved to 4 months. Therefore, I was still not able to get out of the contract, but since they have been lazy to fax my contract to the new gym, I can no longer attend the new gym.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE SPA AND FITNESS CENTER TO ANYONE!

Does anyone know of a good lawyer so that I can sue these ### for being lazy and not doing their part?

PLEASE people, save yourselves, and do NOT sign a contract here!
A death sentence would be easier to get out of than their contracts!
(must move 30 MILES away from any of their affiliate gyms to get out, regardless of your driving time). The nursery attendants are lazy, they call you out of your workout to come get your child if they cry for more than a few minutes or if they need a diaper change). Save yourself the time, hassle, trouble, and MONEY, DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT!

I totally agree with the above comments. This place is dirty in more ways than one. The employees use the back rooms to mess around in and make it know by the noises you hear. There managers are not to be taken seriously they are often playing around with the teenage girl employees. The equipment is not well maintained at all. Dont call Bob nor Bill they don't care after they have already got your money. I hear Omni is a nice clean gym, take your business there. Afford this place! I wish i did!

This is a horrible, horrible place! Beware! The Eutaw location is no different. And they could care less if you are a satisfied customer. They don't respond to letters, and have horrid customer no-service. Do NOT sign a contract with them!

I wish I had read this before I joined. The TVs are awful and the staff stinks. I was there when they had LOUD rap music playing, and no one I saw looked like they cared for it. My iPod was useless. The place is dirty and the equipment is half broken all the time.
