This school is the biggest waste of money! Where do I begin?
-The admissions counselors lie to you when you're applying. They tell you they can help you get rides to school, money, housing, but really they can't.
-Teachers never stay long. The good teachers we like are fired (Amanda Brown, Landell Collins); and the bad teachers nver change even when we complain about them. They are lazy, stupid and you can tell they hate thei jobs.
-Melinda, the old dean, was lazy and never listened. If you went into her office to talk to her she always looked like she was on drugs. She had no backbone and was NOT a good leader for our school (although she was better the dean before her who was insane!).
-Tina Barnes the head person (VP maybe?) is the biggest ###. She's a short woman with a weird limp that never smiles and is really nosy. She's always limping around school, givng people dirty looks. She once told a pregnant student she needed to buy nicer clothes. Seriously? Gee tina i'm sorry we don't all make the money you do, we can't affod your ugly see through blouses!
-I've heard that Melinda forges peoples attendence to keep students from dropping so they meet thier quotas.
-The school looks like ###. It took them months to fix the bathrooms and now they still have broken doors, etc.
-It always looks dirty and is really boring.
-Its' in a strip mall.
-Supposedly a teacher was fired for being a lesbian.
-They make you wear uniforms (business wears shirts and khakis, meical wears srubs) but yet they only provide one or two shirts for you.
-The staff in the office is weird. It seems like they never work, they are always gone. If they are there they are goofing off.
-None of the programs offered are worth your money. The crimnal justice program is a joke. They watch movies, dust for fingerprints, and read pwer points. It's nothing like they make it out to be.
-Everyone who goes therer is ghetto. They take HS dropouts. Waht kind of school does that?
I am so glad my time there is over! DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I attended Southwestern in Dayton and received my medical billing and coding certificate with a 4.o gpa. Needless to say I got certified with someone they chose. Come to find out that certification is not recognized no where in Ohio. When I produced my certification card they laughed. cost me 13, ooo dollars to attend. I was lead to believe my credits would transfer since I decided to further my education when I moved to a different city in ohio. Tried to transfer my credits and was told you have to be in an associate program or higher in order to transfer your credits to Devry. Not only could I not obtain a job with the school education I received I also could not transfer my credits and my certification was not recognized. I was cheated out of 13, 000 dollars that I can not pay back because I still dont have a job in that field 4 years later and cant afford to start all over seems like some justice should be served at least give me half my money back what a Bad decision!

I attended the Florence, KY campus an it was a total JOKE! Majority of the staff in Medical Assisitant. One teacher was not an at the time she taught medical terms class and she had blonde hair and drove a minit van... lol.. She was the best ONLY there... As far as Amanda Brown... Well I can see why she got fired! Her attitude was off the chain! Yeah she knew her anatomy but far as a teacher an teaching it... NO! She talked like a robot teaching it in one steady voice and NEVER had control over her class.. Well at least when I was there! They always offered tutoring but they wld never show up for you. An it was no big deal to them. Like you never had a life and other things to do. They lied about everything from the start. If I had known for one, these so called teachers was not certified teachers, I probably would have walked out. Just because your in the field an have worked that field doesn't mean you can teach it! And it's way over priced to go there. And most of them there, you can't get a one to help you when needed an can't get a one to give a straight answer either! And usually the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. Most of the students was ghetto or stoned on drugs. An the mouths was crazy and so was the classrooms... Most had no control over there classrooms at all... Even if you wanted to learn, you couldn't. And what killed me was when most taught it would be nothing at all what was on there tests and most of them would just wing it. It would amase me if someone actually graduted from this school, an got a job for there degree in which they was prepped & taught enough on how to do there career job. I took a semester too long there and had enough of it! This school is not worth your time!
And definitely not worth the money!

I am an instructor at Southwestern College and have experienced and witnessed what these students are claiming. I understand that speaking out may get me fired but I value my integrity and all that I stand for as an educator. I have heard the admissions department lie to students as they walk them through the college trying to convince them to attend the school. They lie and claim they students can transfer the credits they obtain to pursue a BA degree. I have called all the local reputable colleges and asked. No regionally accredited college will accept any credit from them.
Recently, I overheard the VP talking to students, attempting to do damage control, telling them that they do report on their FAFSA that they are living "on campus" so that they can get them the most money for them on their "stipend" refund check. There is no on campus living! I was absolutely disgusted with this. He clearly admitted that the school lies to the federal government.
To make matters worse I have had administration ask me to lie and mark a student present so that the financial aid would be released to the college even though the student NEVER attended class. In addition, instructors are told to let students sign and leave. The student NEVER has to attend class and the school does not give a care because they get the money.
This school does not care about the students and if they are learning. It is all about getting the money. Instructors get bonus checks if they get 100% attendance for their students. Not for helping students reach their academic goals! Pathetic when you think about it!
Some of the students that I have had in class could achieve all they hope to but this school is going to destroy any chance they have. They will end up paying over 31, 000.00 for an Associate degree.

well i attend the southweestern college in toledo, ohio and its the same way here and i think they are taking our money because whjat school you raise tution in the middle of a semester and never tell you about the change but claim the sunt you something in the mail which never happened. the school is making us pay for things we shouldnt be paying such as bank fees when our studnet loans come in they have extra fees on them. the school can never give us a break down on where our money is going it really never tell us.

I am not sure what kind of school it is now, but when I went to the location in Florence, KY
it was great! They offered daycare for those who couldn't afford it, helped me get my G.E.D.
Placed me in a job that I only had to work weekends and made about 650.00 to 700.00 dollars for two days of work.. That school was great! My teachers were the best !
Sorry you all had such bad luck with the school you chose, but no one is going to give you anything, if you want to achieve something you have to work for it...

Whoever wrote that that the Tri-County Southwestern was a better location is full of it! Ms. Rogers is probably one of the pathetic instructors at this equally ghetto location. They have a knack for falsifying documentation. Ms. Rogers claims this location helps you to pass tests, but yet she spells pass with a "T" on the end of it!

WHAT A JOKE!

I feel that your education is your future in your hands. The person who posted this article can't even spell! I attend the Tri- County location, I've experinced some teachers with differnt teaching styles. They leave it up to you they provide the books, give HW, and you do the test. You earn your grade, also your education.I know they help people that having obtained a GED. Help them past the test then get a degree. How is that a waste of money? I think people need to grow UP I know for a fact they have a drug policy! They will also kick you out of class if they suspect any foul play. Maybe it's your location and the surrounding community that's the problem. My campus is a GREAT LOCATION.

I am currently enrolled at Southwestern in Florence, Ky and also notice that most students seem like white trash or on drugs. Ofcourse this is great they are trying to better themselves but it somehow makes me feel like I'm attending a school for rejects and I know I'm so much better than that. I have also noticed each time I go into the office the workers are missing. This is the first day of my 2nd semester and I'm pretty nervous to continue on with this school because I realized that 11, 700 tuition for ONE YEAR for a MEDICAL ASSISTANT seems outrageous. I got a grant for 5, 000 and had to get a student loan for over 6, 000 which I will have to pay back...doesn't seem worth it now that I've had time to really think things over. Why not apply that money and the next twelve months with this program toward a REAL SCHOOL and a degree with a high paying job such as a Respiratory Therapist...that's only 9 months longer than this 15 month program and I'll have a DEGREE, not just a stupid certificate. I'm SO MAD at myself for trusting in my STUPID ex friend and thinking this was a good idea...I should have considered her mentality first. Ok hope this helped anyone else who's confused and feels they now want out. I wouldn't have even went back to school today for 2nd semester but I was too afraid I might have to pay back all that 6, 200 dollar loan if I drop out. Trying to find out exactly how the loans and grants work...then hope to leave this school for dummies and apply the time and loan for a more rewarding job in the end. A CERTIFICATE to file peoples medical charts and answer phones is not worth 11, 700 tuition...did you know a medical asssistants normal hourly salary is only around ten dollars an hour? What a joke. I should have never listened to others before jumping into this mess. I'm ashamed but happy I'm smart enough to realize it now.
