this is a SCAM! even i have got this message. and it would be really dangerous calling this number... my request is to simply delete this SMS from ur mobile.

It's definitely a scam. And if anyone did win that much money, you would get a phone call and they would KNOW WHO you are (ie; Name) and be able to verify the details with you.

I got a phone call on Saturday from +[protected] saying I won AED 200, 000 / - from Etisalat. The guy asked me to saved the Business Card he was going to send me and call him back. Then asked me where I live.

If he was calling from Etisalat, he would've already has that info...

i aggreed with Brad's comments coz i was sent the same message via my hp .. i wonder hw they got my number.. winning a very lots of money without participating anything, not even buying the lottery ticket was really weird.. i really dont know what they are up to... i also wonder how this company or whatever it is, got its profit if they keep giving the money to everyone? 500, 000.00 is not a small amount of money..

I agree..Sony Ericsson should be higly avoided. Their Service centers are crooked cheats.

i had the same situation, but this time they send it on my cell phone as an SMS accompanied with a contact number! "+[protected]", for an instance i thought it was true... but its good that i checked it first!

Call up Sony Erricson customer care...and lodge a complaint about the service center, if you are under warranty they should replace the handset until and unless you have physically damaged it. Damages due to intolerances such as intolerance to moisture etc are covered by the warranty. I have replaced a handset before, but you need to be persistent with those service center ###..

the truth is that this is a scam, did you honestly ever expect someone to email you saying you've won half a million pounds in a lottery/ prize draw etc which you never entered? As you have now contacted them back, your contact details will be passed around to other scammers trying to get money out of you.

Rule 1 - You CANNOT win a lottery if you don't buy a ticket. Not ever. Not in the UK, because it is against the gaming rules. You cannot be entered for a prize draw with your email address or phone number or car registration or anything else. If you are entered into a lottery it is because you have paid cash and bought a ticket to do so. Anyone who tells you that you've won something without you even knowing is a scammer.

Rule 2 - Get yourself a new email address, try to recall what personal details you have given these people when you contacted them. Change things like phone numbers if possible.

Rule 3 - search for your details online, see if your email address is posted somewhere public. If so, remove it. Even on places like Friends Reunited, your email should not be visible to everyone.

Rule 4 - stop forwarding those "send this joke to ten people you know" and "If you send this to all your friends you will have good luck" emails. They are a device used for harvesting email addresses, that's all they ever are. There are no little girls dying of some awful disease who will ever get better by your sending someone an email. If you want to help people, give a fiver to your local hospital!

Rule 5, have fun.
