I went in for a shampoo and cut. My receipt says "Shampoo and Style Basic $14.95, Conditioner $1.00, Adult Shampoo & Cut $13.95."

Total with tax for what I actually got (shampoo, conditioner, cut, blow dry): $31.90 (with tax).

People who use Smart Style Salons need to check their receipt. Customers are being ripped off.

You could have had a new stylist who was not sure how pricing worked. This could happen.

Clarify how much your price should be before you start. This will cut down on disappointments.

Shampoo and cut only? Shampoo, cond., cut, blow? Did you have a blowdry?

If you know you didn't don't pay for it. If you must, call home office to clear up the problem before you pay if you feel you are being ripped off.

Hi!

How many cuts did you receive? From what I read it sounds like you were rung up for two adult cuts. One with a shampoo and conditioner, the shampoo and cut being $14.95 and an extra $1.00 for the conditioner. And then another adult cut without the shampoor and conditioner for $13.95.

All three of these numbers added together before tax come to a sum of $29.90, after tax this could ammount to $31.90. If you and another adult in your family received cuts then the price is right. If only you received a cut, then you were probably charged for an extra adult cut. I would take the receipt back to Smart Style and discuss with the supervisor, the stylist who cut your hair, and the person who rang you up the discrepancy in your bill. I hope this helps.

I, myself, am a former stylist that had worked for Smart Style and they don't charge tax on any service only on retail. It could have been a error on the stylist or there was another person rung up that was with you. And a shampoo and cut is $14.95. You're thinking of a wash and cut, wash being shampoo asnd conditioner. You also have to think about if you have a ton of hair too. A person who has thin hair to normal hair is what that price is for, any thicker its going to be more expensive. I now work for JC Penney where a wash, cut and style is $32. You have to think from our perspective, you get what you pay for. I can give you a $15 hair cut that is mediocre or I can give you my all for $10 more. I do agree that they need to reword on the signs; but if you love your hair stylist then it shouldn't bug you. This is our livelyhood and our passion and our job is to give you that extra boost to make you feel good. Lets say you got in trouble and you had to choose between two attorneys; one for $100 and the other for $12, 000. Who do you think is going to be able to help you more. Just think about this before you decide to sit in a stylists chair.

just because smart style charges less, doesn't mean their stylist aren't
experienced. I would rather go to a smart style than jc pennys, there prices change evry time you go!!!

well just because a stylist works for smart styles doesn't make them any less of a stylist... i personally think its a great feeling to be able to give some one a good boost of confidence and make them feel good about them selves for 14.95... a 14.95 haircut doesn't have to look like 14.95 and that is just a crock of crap... there are more expensive salons out there that seriously do not do any better than smart styles does.. and a former employee should never disrespect the companies they used to work for anyway... or perhaps you forgot how much of the beauty world regis has their hands in... better make sure you keep your new fancy job at jcp... other wise you might be begging regis to let you come back to work for them, although i doubt you would ever stoop so low

i am a manager of a very successful smartstyle in pa. we all have an off day once in while but for the most part i expect my stylists to do their best. fyi smartstyle is a division of regis corp. you know, regis, in the mall that charges WAY more than we do... oh, by the way, we have exactly the same training and education as they we just charge less because of where we are located. what a great company we work for, you can make as much money as you want! you just have to want it. as for your comment that you get what you pay for... did you do crappy hair when you worked at ss and now do great hair at jcp? sounds like that is ALL your fault.

when did it become ok to send a client to sallys beauty supply to pick up their own color and bring it to smartstyles and the stylist use it instead of their own supplies? i had to do this and wasn't even reimbursed for the color. i live in south boston, va and was wondering what the salon rules are for their stylist.

If they used a round brush on you that takes a lot of time and it is considered a style, not just a blow dry.
If she didn't use a brush, you were ripped off.
If she did, the price was correct.
Did you really expect her to spend 15 minutes drying your hair and only charge you a couple extra dollars when she could have done a whole other haircut and made 15?

I went in for a perm last fri. I tol the stylist, I want a body perm, when talking about the cut I stated I only want the dead ends off about 1/2 inch, it is still cold and I don't wear hats so I need my hair for warmth.
Your stylist left me with about 1/2 inch hair on my head, and the curl is tight. Also I was told she would leave the styling lotion on about 35 min. I said no 20 is enough and made her check it at 20. She then stated that it was a nice curl. Can you think of what would have happened if I would not of insisted that she check my hair at 20 min, The saloon was on Hudson Bridge Road the stylist was Dawn, my problem now. never again at SMART STYLE for my e-mail mrthlau@yahoo.com

The first time I went to Glenda at our local Smart Style in Tahlequah Walmart, I was getting my first haircut ever--almost 30 inches off the back. She did an AWESOME job. Well, later I thought I could save money by going somewhere else. Never again! I came back to Glenda and she fixed a really terrible haircut for me. I have not been anywhere else since. True, I spend more than my cousin (who, by the way pays $6 for the whole shebang and looks great), BUT I do not begrudge it. I always walk out of the salon looking great. It is well worth the extra money I spend. I will not go anywhere else no matter how cheap and I will not let anyone else but Glenda cut my hair. That woman is amazing! I have super thick, naturally curly hair and I walk out of there with exactly the cut and style I want every time. Maybe they could charge a little less, BUT then I would be afraid I really would be getting what I paid for, like I did at one of the other salons in town. You won't find any complaints here.

I also went to this salon for shampoo cut. After my stylist was done with cut I told her to go ahead and blow dry. NOT knowing a round brush was gonna cost me extra $15 dollars. If I had long hair or even shoulder length I could see that being fair. But, I have short thin hair what was done could have been done with a vent brush. I use to b hairdresser and we did not practice ripping off people like this. I should have been told how much extra it would be if she used the roll brush and been givin the choice! I like my hairdresser so will go back but only for cut!! I was considering color and root perm but not there now!
