About a month ago I opened a can of slim fast only to find something in my mouth that I had never experienced before with slim fast. There were white lumps of some material that was soft asnd had about the same texture as shortening used in cooking. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place, but I was unable to make any contact with Slim Fast. Today I tried another can from the same package, shaking it very well before opening. I poured it into a clear glass, but before It started out of the can I could see it had the same material as before.I have been drinking Slim Fast for years and have never experienced anything like this before. I would like to know if this is safe and supposed to be there.

I am doing research on this as well. I recently purchased many cans that have an expiration date of jun0311... what is going on? Yuck.. and this is not the first batch.. the batch before these were the same and i threw them thinking nothing of it.. and that was about a month prior to these batches.

This has happend to me now on several occasions over the last few months and to be honest, it's getting a bit out of hand. I have found several references to the issue on the internet, and they seem to be focused on the west coast. Maybe a produciton issue, I'm not sure. You're correct, it seems to be a very oily, shortening type substance. I poured mine through a strainer and found almost a baby-asprin sized lumps.
