Sky Sports coverage of the masters golf tournament 2011

The fact that you play that absolutely terrible song about Georgia before and after every commercial break. I have only just watched one day of the tournament so far and it is the most annoying wee bit of music ever, it is just so repetitive and awful. Please change it! An example of how to get that sort of thing right is to look at the BBC coverage of the golf, the music they play before the Masters and other golf tournaments is really uplifting and inspiring. It gets you excited, this crap of a guy that sounds like James Brown or is James Brown saying oh Georgia mmm hmm before and after every commercial break is making me seriously consider the BBC's coverage of the event at the weekend. It is just plain infuriating! I hope you take this on board and have received many complaints of a similar variety.

We watched the red button or BBC when available, Sky should give viewers the option of watching Golf on the red button with no commentary! That would be better than just listening to opinions, it would certainly help us avoid Alison Whitaker on the ladies and European tour commentary, she is awful, why on earth do you want a loud opinionated woman spoil the excellent commentators usually on the
European tour?

Masters coverage is the worst (.2017)... featured groups (streaming) are like 10 over par... why can't we watch the big names or names in contention... I hate augustas arrogance. in refusing to do whats right for the viewer... just horrible!

I agree with the music. It's too short a rift and there is no variety. 3 more days to go of the same.

We have been watching the Masters and are praying Tiger Woods misses the cut as the TV commentary. Is all TIGER This Tiger that I wish someone would count how many times his name is mentioned, even hole by hole only his ball marker is shown rarely his playing partners, how disrespectful to all the other excellent golfers.

I like watching the golf and I think the anchor commentators are great. The girl doing the on course interviews is brilliant.
My problem is with Coltart who's joyless, monotone rambling is not welcome. Also at the Wells Fargo Coltart thought it was OK to talk as Mcillroy actually swung at the ball. Nobody talks when a golfer plays...actions speak louder than words Andrew and what Rory is doing is more important than anything you have to say.

Nonsense. Monty at least knows what he is talking about. He has been there, done it. Criticism of Tiger Woods is fully justified. He spits where others have to putt. He cheats and uses foul language which children can hear. If he had stayed with the excellent Butch Harmon he would now be well ahead of Nicklaus in majors wins. The best thing he could do for golf is to retire prematurely. David Batley DFB

Monty must go.
He is by nature a negative man, his negativism especially about Tiger is depressing.
Faldo actually has done it yet he does need feel the need to criticise when at least he has the credentials to do so.
It costing me fortunes throwing objects at the TV and breaking them, can you please help ?

Sky Sports sacking of andy gray

I write, as an overcharged Sky and Sky Sports subscriber, to complain about the sacking of Mr. Andy Gray. I feel that, as Mr. Gray is one of the most respected, revered and renowned experts in his field worldwide, that this has been to the detriment of your coverage of football and entirely unreflective of your viewing audience's feelings on the matter.

To suggest that Mr. Gray is a sexist simply because of joke that was made is outrageous. To sack him as a result of one that was made supposedly in the confines of his private surroundings and trusted friends is to condone a gross intrusion of your employees' privacy. It is to suggest that it is acceptable to spy on members of the public and make scapegoats of them for privately sharing humorous sentiments. I defy you to find anyone who has never made a politically incorrect comment in perceived privacy.

However, what is most disturbing about this is the fact that the lineswoman, an innocent in all of this, has unfairly been made a victim of something which need not be a crime and which she has not complained about. More than the comments themselves, this has reopened the issues pertaining to the role of the female in society and, most pertinently in this case, in sport. Women have, in the past one hundred years, made unprecedented leaps in representation and rights in both society as a whole and football, a sport in which the primacy of the male remains widely accepted by members of both genders. To create a controversy around the matter, is to make light of these achievements. It is to recast the female as the victim who needs the protection of yourselves, in all your do-gooding, interfering and self-righteous misanthropy. It is to weaken the woman sportsperson and cast them as a slight figure unable to cope with light-hearted jest. Even though she never made a fuss. This offends me.

There appears to be no conclusive evidence which suggests that the comments made were done so in earnestness. There is nothing which indicates, in almost twenty years of loyal service, that Mr. Gray has been unduly influenced by such beliefs or that they have tainted his ability to cover the sport he so frequently embellishes. Everything I have seen appears to point to this being a simple joke, one which the lines woman might have been able to easily laugh off, dismiss or respond to in her actions had it not been for your interference. A joke, by nature, must play on an issue which is contentious or politically incorrect in order to be funny. Not that I expect the cold heart of public relations to know anything about humour; it is an emotion rather than a fact so it cannot be quantified - not everything in life can. How many women would, I dare say in your own broadcasting arena, get away with making a similar throw away comment about a male? Would a woman berating a male nail therapist for being clumsy or heavy handed be treated with the same undue severity? I think not. Of course the presence of the lines woman was going to rouse interest; it is a rare event. Are you suggesting that the very mention of it, as a matter of difference, is a punishable offence?

What is more, even if the comment was based upon a serious, heart-felt belief of Mr. Gray that women do not have a place in football, surely this is his right of opinion? Surely, it is the paying viewer's right to see honesty and integrity from their presenters. Surely, it is acceptable to debate the role of women in football and oppose it, providing that this is not done in a way which is detrimental to fairness. Surely, to forbid your employees from airing such views is to censor them and force upon them a rigid criteria of what can and cannot be aired, thus threatening to brainwash audiences into thinking that there are no alternative perspectives.

What is most sickening is that no opportunity was given to Mr. Gray to explain his comments and their context. If these things were not taken into consideration in this society as a whole, justice would never be served. Thankfully, we have a system which is gradual, fair towards and reflective of all involved parties; we no longer hang people without given them the opportunity to a trial. Yet, this is what you have done in the case of Mr. Gray. There has been no public consultation. Would you say that this is a private matter, based upon the discretion of Sky? As Sky is funded by us, the viewing public, I would suggest that this would be a typically haughty response.

I absolutely agree being sacked for un-aired personal opinions, take a look at yourself sky you power mongers you sack an employee of 20 plus years who is the only recognisable voice on sky sports every clip shown contains his opinions and comments but a personal opinion about something else gets him sacked whereas his other opinions give your channel a sense of class of which you as a company have shown none. A presenter, analyst, high level former professional, ambassador, host, educator tell me where on any sports channel one man possess all this? i'll answer it there is none! you have only cost yourselves your abysmal service, extortionate prices, lacklustre products an monopoly over premiership football disgusts me. I find it amazing that a minor statement of sexism has erupted in such a way when anyone reading the story, watching the news or which ever way they heard the sacking news have a form of prejudice in some way whether it be a foreign worker, ethnic business owner, oap, youths, men and women of all ages, someone dosnt like someone else for the wrong reason. You need to take a long hard look at yourself SKY to terminate a broadcasting legends contract over a 4 second bad joke that was off air, and if this happened in december then why didnt the woman press charges for sexual harasment or something of that nature because im sure if she felt that way she would have. I find it coincidental in this sexism scandal that the woman in question is a former model and very good looking which is why she is on sky sports so that males between 15 and upwards find her attractive and will listen to what she is saying, I dont think i have seen an ugly overweight middle aged woman presenter on sky sports in 20 years and i guarantee that it wont happen in the next 20 years, you know what your doing but like to keep your hands clean you bunch of clowns. I hope Andy Gray walks in to a job at ESPN and they start to take over you as a sports rival and then you will be left with Jamie Redknapp and soon realise he is an underachieving marks and spencers model and dosnt deserve to sit beside the likes of Rudd Hulitt, Greame Souness and the likes due to the fact these ex-pros are accomplished, successful, super talented, world players of the year Redknapp languishing in mediocrity. Andy Gray is a LEGEND FACT! and i hope you get what you deserve you all consuming bunch of idiots.

Sky Sports commentators comments

(Letter to Sky)
Dear Sir

I write in horror to a comment that was made by your commentator during the English Schools Championships. The event was the Junior Girls 4 x 100m relay, Humberside came in second place. When the race was reviewed by your commentator he announced that the relay team had a weak link and named the athlete as Alex Stimpson.

Alex is in fact a strong, dedicated and respected athlete and shows much promise and potential for the future of British athletics. Her commitment to training and her team is to be admired and should be used as an example for others to follow.

I am in fact a Level 5 coaching trainer and assessor working for the Ministry of Defence. I also work with young athletes and see the emotions they go through to achieve their goals. Your commentator must realise that making comments like this on national television has probably destroyed all the years of coaching, hard work and ladder climbing that Alex has had to go through to get to English School’s standard.

We are extremely proud of Alex (Silver Medallist) and will now work hard with her to bring her confidence back from ground zero and can only hope that Alex will use this experience as a control trigger to put her at the top where she belongs.

I am sure that a letter of apology to Alex would be the start of this process and that measures must be taken to realise these are still children working hard to fill the shoes of their heroes.

Regards
Chris Preston-Routledge

Watching Everton v Spurs...Martin Tyler (worst commentator ever) mentioning Manchester United and their interest in Pochettino at least 10 times during the match. Then has the gall to say " if we are to believe all the talk". Believe it!... It is media people like him that start "All the talk" !

It was a match featuring Spurs and Everton and probably watched on TV by a majority of Spurs followers. Why mention Manchester Utd at all? It had NOTHING to do with the game...were they playing? Tyler is the biggest turn off on Sky Sports. Spurs fans do NOT want to hear about Man Utd and Pochettino whilst they are watching their team playing. About time Sky Sports had a shake up regarding their personnel...Merson, Nicholas, Thompson...Fed up with their drivel...time for a change. Thank God that BT Sports is around. Time to jack Sky Sports in.

"And the er" and "Manchester United " is all I keep hearing from him. He's been like it for years. He'll get the word in anyway possible. Somebody will do something spectacular and immediately he'll relate it to a "Manchester United " player doing that once"

When are Sky Sports going change their Main Football Commentator Martin Tyler?

He gets all the big games and he drives me MAD ! He spends about 65% of the time driveling on about a load of nonsense, facts and figure's that quite frankly are irrelevant and very boring instead of actually describing the action on the pitch.
He leaves huge pauses in the middle of his sentences as well, which is absolutely infuriating. Martin Tyler is the worst Football commentator I've ever heard, Sky Sports used to give you a facility to switch off the commentary, I wish that was still available as I'd use it every time Tyler was appointed commentator.

Come on Sky Sports get your act together and sack this idiot, he's spoiling your so called Super Sunday Games

How can Dwight Yorke be commenting on Manchester United penalty decision when he is obviously so biased towards Manchester United it is untrue. I am paying a fortune to watch Sky sports and the biased views week after week from so called experts makes me wonder why I am paying for it.

As someone who pays £78 A MONTH to sky and is also, I admit a MCFC fan, I was disgusted with Ray Wilkins' biased match summarising when we played Chelsea tonight. If he can't be unbiased then I don't want my hard earned cash to go in his pocket. you were out of order Ray and have gone down in my estimation. Stick to commentating on games that you have no bias with.

Sky Sports calvin tatum speedway

would like to complain about the coverage of the speedway meeting between Coventry and Lakeside especially Calvin Tatum. We have been speedway fans since the age of 12 we are now 45. We watched and supported Calvin through all his Coventry years and it made me sick to listen to his comments regarding the track . I have seen him ride that track in worse conditions than it was tonight 27.7 2009 . I must say some of his comments regarding the Coventry team were not called for. He as a commentator of the sport should surley remain biast if the man supports Lakeside then maybe he should keep it to himself when doing his job its unfair on the other team racing them, and that includes all other teams in the Elite league to.Lakeside have had more than there fair share of coverage on sky sports this year which i feel does not cover enough of the other teams, So Calvin when the Lakeside are winning maybe you should listen back to your own voice and see how it changes with excitment not very professional . Dean Ismay. Coventry fan and proud

Sky Sports Should have extended highlights of all the games in the Champions League & not just the Goals. Also when Sky Sports Shows coverage of the cup ties they should not tell you the score of any other game by goal alert because it spoils the highlights programmes when I watch them as I already know the results beforehand.

I have never been so enraged by shoddy commentating on sky sports as i have been tonight and i'm a big speedway fan and football fan

But even my dislike for Andy Gray's commentating had to take the back seat for this one.

But it wasn't just Kelvin because the way i watched it Nigel pearson begun it all and Kelvin tatum followed suit.

I encourage anyone not to watch the sky sports coverage of this meeting because i went up Friday 24th July 2009 and the track was in a similar state and both teams made a match of it (Coventry v Poole by the DVD if you dont believe me).

This meeting was clearly once again like at poole, lakeside didnt bring anything to the table and sky commentators blame the track conditions when it's same for both set of riders.

At one point the lakeside team manager claimed his riders will be altered if they ride like that again but yet Nigel Pearson complained about the track and Klevin followed suit.

Do something about there commentating or you will find the image of speedway on sky as very much of "sky sports commentating is rubbish and one-sided towards the nearest london based club" because this is no coinsidence of it being lakeside again.

Sky Sports - I feel sick to my very core

I hope this is the right complaints board, but I was disgusted to see sky sports news showing archive footage of some nobody from 2001 speaking about Erikson when i could easily have said in one sentence, the man is a joke and has ruined England's best chance of world cup glory especially with the other results.
