SiteSell.com Did cancel my account during trial period, still charging my card

They offered me a 90 day trial with full refund option. I requested refund during the 90 days. They emailed me a cancelation confirmation. HOWEVER, they still charged my card the next month and have not yet refunded my money. (they may still do this they have a 5 day policy), however, they should have never charged my card again.

I spoke to one of their reps, Paul. When I tried to resolve this over the phone, he refused and told me I have to email them. I have emailed several times and received no response. Paul got rude. I explained that I am going to have to file a complaint with the BBB. He said "go ahead".

They are obviously in this for their own profit and not to help people. Also, be careful... their software is lacking in many! areas.

I have dealt with SiteSell for many years, and have not had the problem which you describe. I asked for a refund on one occasion; initially (owing to a misunderstanding) I received back only half what I had paid by monthly instalments, but when I brought the error to SiteSell's attention the remainder was swiftly refunded.

I tried to contact them and request refund during the 90 days, however there is no feedback whatsoever.

Is there any way I can get my refund?

They have been taking money from me via my credit card for a year after I complained and tried to get them to stop. Credit card company can't help unless I change card number, which means big hassles redoing debits.they have no moral fiber!

Dear Jents

As I said earlier, SiteSell is a legitimate, ethical company. We do not wish to keep anyone on a list that does not wish to be there -- and we take spam very seriously.

I have investigated further and in order to get this resolved quickly, request that you use the form here: http://question.sitesell.com

Be sure to enter the exact email address you used when you asked your original question. (It is the one through which you are receiving the emails.) Ask to be removed from the mailing list.

Please also provide the URL of this post so the matter can be quickly and fully resolved.

Sincerely,

Denise Taylor

I am NOT an affiliate. I simply asked a question via email one time. I have followed the opt-out process every single time I got SiteSell spam for three years, and even sent direct emails to remove me from ALL correspondence. Truly shameful of SiteSell!

Denise, how do you know that I am an "affiliate"? Where are you getting this information?

Hi Jents

I'm sorry, but neither SiteSell, or SBI!, or Site Build It! are scams. We are a legitimate, ethical company.

The trouble you are having with the emails is due to your affiliate status. If you are a SiteSell affiliate, you are opted in to receive email.

The opt-out procedure is clearly designated at the bottom of each and every email you receive, which is a weekly ezine. The methods you describe are ineffective because those are outgoing email addresses only. Your emails are going to noone.

Please use the proper procedure to get yourself off the list. We have no intention on keeping people on our list who don't want to be there.

Best of luck to you!

Sincerely,

Denise Taylor

Sitesell, sitesell.com, SBI, Site Build It (whatever they choose to called): I know this industry well and this is a masked scam. Masked in that it is legal, and only morally a scam (happy to expand on this).

Regardless, it is blatant SPAM, on the internet and in your inbox. For three years they have directly spammed my personal inbox from @sitesell.com emails. Every single time I replied with "UNSUBSCRIBE" as they claimed this removed you from their list. I also sent direct emails explaining that I did this several times and am still being spammed. It continues to this day. I have NO respect for SBI/sitesell as they have none for me.

Please, try to find their illustrious accreditation on BBB.org. I went there to file a complaint against them and they are either not registered, or are very well-hidden.

SiteSell.com Online scam!

Signed up for their 30 day trial with a money back guarantee. According to the receipt they sent me, a statement found more than 4 pages deep, they stated:

2) CAD $294.76 -- we have successfully processed your credit card for CAD $294.76, which is the Canadian dollar equivalent of the American Dollar Price quoted on the Web site... US$299.

...but when checking my credit card statement, I had been charged $305.20.

That was only the first and a minor problem/scam. The larger one was that they have so far not acknowledged my request for my money back under they 30-day money back guarantee... I have made 5 requests over the last month with no success. Next of course I will contact my bank. I am posting this so that you can all save the time and trouble I had to go through to get my money back...

Most if not all of the information they charge you over $300 for can be obtained at no cost online at many locations. I recommend you stay away from these people which will save you your hard earned money.

As a SOON to be ex SBI user I’ve had enough with Sitesell and Ken Envoy’s bs marketing. I thought SBI would be the answer to my relationship advice website Ario1.Com but it turned out to be a mirage. After 3 years of pushing and advertising (Facebook ads, Outbrain, crowd search.me etc) and OVER $10, 000 later (I know I was a fool), all I have to show for it is an average of 300 daily visitors and 1200 views. It seems the ongoing assessment about google hating SBI is 100% true.

Right, now I am transferring Ario1.Com to a new hosting site where not only will it look better (per Ken Envoy the look of the site doesn’t matter) but I will have a much easier chance of flowing REAL HIGH traffic daily. SBI’s templates and everything else they do is COMPLETELY out dated and it’s not like I didn’t give them a chance. I mean after almost 3 years and 100’s of pages with new content built (1/3 by them) you would think my site would be on top. Unfortunately even though Ario1.Com skyrocketed at first on Alexis, ranking me in the top 90, 000 sites in the US and top 600k in the world, it all slowly began to crash as it went down to the millions in rankings.

Also, Google NEVER ranked Ario1 even though I had plenty of pages indexed with them. A few of my pages are even on the first page of Google but thats as far as I got. The domain itself was NEVER ranked with Google and no matter what I did (advertising etc) nothing seemed to get it noticed by the biggest search engine in the world.

It is TIME SBI accepts the reality like I have, that eventually this company will fold and Ken Envoy will walk away with millions he stole from innocent website owners. Shame on him. Goodbye SBI!

I bought a Site Sell package in 2013. A few months later, after 120 days, I had a hardship in my life that sent me into a depression. I eventually contacted sitesell, because I couldn't concentrate on starting a new business. Life was to overwhelming. I contacted sitesell customer service asking for help. Sitesell refunded my entire investment and offered me a free 12-month subscription if I wanted to try again the following year. So, this $11 does seem to be a mistake. It seems incongruent with my customer service experience, which was not only prompt and fair, but very generous as they went above and beyond.

Hi H Helene

In order to respond effectively to your post, I researched your complaint. I'm assuming you're not using your real name because I am not able to find any Support tickets regarding cancellation, refund, etc., under that or similar names going back several months. Because of that, I have to respond in a general manner.

It is true that SiteSell bills on a recurring basis (as is true for most online services). This is to eliminate hiccups and avoid downtime for people and their online businesses.

However, for security reasons, the auto renewal transactions are handled directly with our payment processor. That means that none of our staff has access to that information, nor do we keep that information on file.

Because of this, account cancellation is handled through Support where they take the necessary steps to deactivate an account. It's not a difficult process, but if they're not notified, the account doesn't get cancelled. If for some reason an account doesn't get cancelled prior to a recurring payment being processed, we rectify this by refunding the errant payment.

You do not need to cancel your credit card in order to cancel, nor do you have to go to them to get your money back. All you have to do is contact Support.

I also researched for credit card charge backs going back to April 1st. I don't see a transaction that resembles what you describe above, but again, I'm assuming you're not using your real name, which is perfectly fine.

At this point, it may be better to finish what you started with your credit card company since you don't want to leave something like that unfinished. But if you are still in need of assistance, please contact SiteSell Support so they can help you. We want to help you get your matter resolved.

Take care!

Sincerely,

Denise Taylor

Sitesell charged my mastercard 299USD for renew, despite I am absolutely sure that I removed my card number from the site in order not to renew. Contacting them is useless. I get no answer when I claim my money back. Mastercard has now taken over the "dialog" with this scam and advised me to cancel my card and get a new one. If they are so successful as they claim to be, one should not believe they had to run their business in this way. H.Helene

Thanks Denise,
But do not tell me I am opting out improperly. You are making assumptions and spreading false information...much like your affiliate company. I have followed the opt out process every time I got SiteSell junk/spam for three years. I have also sent direct emails when that did not work. But of course SiteSell only sends its spam from email addresses with fake human names that don't go to real humans.

Hi Jents

I responded to your complaint on another thread. You are not opting out properly. Please follow those instructions so that you can stop getting our weekly ezine.

@Piglet-to-Bacon - Ken Evoy is one of the most transparent and available executives anywhere, but he can't possibly field every single question or single-hand every customer issue, although I'm sure he wishes he could. No executive could. Support is doing the job they are there for.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Denise Taylor

I found the Support staff to be totally useless and shielding Ken Evoy from complaiknts. My suggestion is to e-mail him directly at 'jiso@sitesell.com' Good luck...
