We recently visited Las Vegas for a weeks vacation and rented a vacation home through Silver State VR.

The Strip Villa

3109 Wilmington Way

Las Vegas, NV 89102

I wanted to bring to light several issues for any future prospects looking to rent a vacation home.

I had to fight to get my $400.00 security deposit returned.

Gustavo Paz told me "the check was in the mail" but, almost a month later, still no check.

I made them credit my PayPal account after never receiving this phantom check.

Here's the info on the property we rented.

Security in this house is non-existent.

This is important as this house is within a very bad neighborhood.

Many houses on this street are vacant leading into to an increased security threat from gang and homeless population.

Police patrols are non-existent.

Security cameras are all cheap Radio Shack fakes. If you are attacked or the house robbed, there is no video record.

Link to cameras: Http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049770&numProdsPerPage=60&y=11&x=19&retainProdsInSession=1

Security system is inoperative, window and door contact wires are gone.

Again, no warning if someone were to enter the house, without monitoring you would be on your own.

Windows are easily opened from the privacy of the back yard. The trailers behind the house are vacant as is the house next door. This is a grave risk as this would be the most probable route of entry.

Sliding door mounted backwards so door can be lifted out of the track from the outside. Another high security risk.

I would not advise leaving anything of value in this property. Take everything when you go into Vegas and park your car in a secure area.

Television in the living room shuts off after about 10 minutes.

Other 4 flat screens worked fine.

Water leak and mildew under kitchen sink.

Dog excrement all over the back yard.

Hose bib leaking on exterior wall adjacent to kitchen.

Litter including loose boards, cigarette butts and roofing shingles in the back yard.

Carpets stained throughout the house.

Pantry door veneer between main entrance and garage entrance peeling.

3rd drawer to the left of dish washer broken.

Sliding door to the back yard hard to open and close, lock lever broken, handle loose. Switch for lights over the pool table broken.

Pocket on pool table falling out.

Several pool cues missing felt tip and/or raveling grip cord.

Towel rack in front bathroom not secured to the wall.

Light switches in the bedrooms do not work.

Numerous outlets have no power.

Door code did not work, had to use emergency code to open door.

No garage keypad or automatic opener.

Neighbors' dog barked constantly.

In March of 2010, we rented a 'vacation home' for the week of 1 to 7 July 2010. Last Sunday (June 20th) we were in LV and drove by. We discoved it was empty and obviously foreclosed on. The owner refuses to answer our emails or faxes no matter what we've tried. After much searching on the internet I have found we are far from an isolated case. The business is: Silver State Vacation Rentals also called SSVR, owned by Gustavo Paz.

The Owner is Gustavo Paz. His 'real' address can be found by visiting the Clark County Assessor's office and doing a record search on his name. His taxes are paid, it must be easy to do so with stolen funds.

***FOR FUTURE POTENTIAL RENTERS***

Do not use this company.

Oscar Rios is the owner / manager of this company. The company used to be called Movie House Vacation Rental however so many people had horrible experiences with him and his company and posted their complaints that they changed the name and website numerous times.

His BBB listing is horrible as well. Simply google Movie House Vacation Rental to see what people are saying.

Silver State VR, Oscar Rios, Movie House Vacation Rental, etc. is a scam.
