Good morning.

Last night we had our life brand warm air humidifier running and it ran out of water being everyone was sleeping. I woke up to the smell of electrical burning. I ran into the living room and seen flames and smoke coming out of the top of our machine. I quickly unplugged it and ran it over to the sink in the kitchen and ran water on it to put out the flames. If this unit was put into our daughter's room it could of turn out much worse. Not sure if this product should be recalled and pulled off the shelf. There should be a safety thing were it shuts down after using the water which is what everyone i ve told this story to is under the same impression.

I too had an incident with this humidifier last night. My brother bought my dying mother one two weeks ago, I just came into town and as I was refilling it up last night (there was still lots of water in it) I unplugged the machine to take to the sink and the top was slightly warm, and I thought it was a bit odd, but not thinking I lifted the top off the machine, and the water that was on it was boiling hot and it scalded the top of my foot, enough for it to blister. Our first concern was what if it had caught fire in the middle of the night and my critically ill mother was trapped in the room. This machine is going straight in the garbage and I will stop by the pharmacy to show them my foot. I agree for under thirty dollars what can you expect (as per previous comments) but this is a dangerous piece of garbage that Shoppers has no business selling. I would attach photos, but I am not able to get them from my phone to my lap top. Please do not buy this product.

Thank you Tyler0 for posting about this hazard... It's not detailed on the outside of the box at all and the sale price is very tempting. If the fire hazard is real it really should be pulled off the shelves. It's a matter of life/death and $$$$ in emergency response costs.

Entirely your fault for not checking the water levels. Are you also going to throw a fit when you start an empty kettle and it catches on fire? You're responsible for the safety of those in your house. If you can't be bothered to check the level of the water in the humidifier, then that's on you. If you want a fancy humidifier WITH that kind of a shut off feature, try springing for one that's more then 30 bucks. For that price you should KNOW you're not getting the highest end product. Nobody to blame but yourself.

Completely rude. I will never buy another thing with your life brand logo on it. Social media is a powerful thing and im now going to share your reponse to this. Hopefully your boss sees this response in regards to this matter. If you think this is an appropriate answer to my concerns about your product you are wrong. Lets see what the world of social media thinks. P.s if you for one second think we are the only ones that run these through the night again you are wrong.

One more thing this incident made me so angry that I hit my daughter real hard and told her that she ruined The New Year, I told her that she had to sleep outside and someone saw me and reported me to CPS for child abandonment. Now my daughter is in a foster home.

I have to agree with kstephy - In big letters under WARNINGS: you are to never let it run out of water. You should have maybe checked for an option of auto shut off. It amazes me how people think now, they never seem to take responsibility for anything always quick to blame. I am thankful that nothing happened to your family !

the warning is not outside the box. i literally picked up the box and researched it and after reading about tyler0's experience put it back on the shelf. so i am grateful to them for posting about it. how you and others feel about him not following directions is irrelevant to everyone else in my shoes. kstephy is just having a bad day and needs to take her pills. be kind to dumb animals day!
