Shoppers Drug Mart physically accosted/pub. humliation /intimidation/ discrimination

I attended the Shoppers drug mart at393 Portage Place Winnipeg Manitoba on April 19 2012 and purchased a package of sudafed. When I left the store at approx 1:55pm which is the time on my receiptand walking through the mall to leave a security person grabbed me from behindand accused me of shoplifting and began forcing me back to the store. I asked him to let go of me and reluctantly he did while threatening me not to run. When I got back to the store another huge imposing man approached me and saidthey were going to search me. I was feeling humiliated as I was already grabbedin the mall in front of others and now I was being searched at a cash registerin front of everybody and also right in front of the huge glass window into themall. I requested to be taken somewhere private and was refused. Aftersearching me it was determined that the item I had purchased still had thedevice (?) or whatever on it that set off the alarm.

I already suffer from Post TraumaticStress Disorder (PTSD) and spend the majority of my time locked in a room. How am I supposed to heal and feel safe in the community when I can't even attend one of your stores without being physically accosted by your security staff and due to the negligence or poor staff performance of the cashiers needlessly publicly humiliated by your security staff.

I was also accused of "walking fast" after leaving the store. I am also diagnosed with Attention DeficitHyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) personally falling (predominantly) into the"Hyperactivity" sub category of ADHD.I walk fast everywhere I go including into and around the store. Is it the policy of Shoppers Drug Mart or security officers to single out or profile persons who walk fast and accuse them of shoplifting and then take to publicly humiliating them?"

I didn’t want to empty out my pockets at all never mind in front of all those people, but I had already beenphysically grabbed and was then being intimidated so fearing for my safety Icomplied. I did not know what those guards were capable of. It was alreadyclear to me they were willing to assault me. They presented as though there wasnever any doubt to them that I had stolen something and therefore it didn’tmatter what they did to me because they had “caught” me and all focus would beon me “the Thief”.

I “get it”. The alarm went off. That’sno reason to physically assault/accost me from behind, accuse me of stealing, and intimidate and humiliate me in front of the public. What about my dignity and living with a disorder such as Hyperactivity? I get accused of trying to flee with stolen property due to a symptom of my hyperactivity eg: “walkingfast”. A further impingement on the rights of the “Disabled” is the disposition of this security guard(?)( Shoppers Drug Mart Staff member(?)) which implies it’s okay to physically assault/accost a deaf person from behind for not heeding his (the security staff member’s) verbal commands.

That happened on Thursday and I did not sleep at all. Friday night I couldn't sleep and finally fell asleep for a couple of hours sometime after 3am. All day Saturday and even worse today I've been jumpy, nervous, I had to go out and had to get someone to drive me and go with me. I'm supposed to begetting better not worse. The store manager contacted me by phone on Friday and all he did was further upset me. I want to press assault charges against tha tguard(?) for grabbing me from behind like that, but I'm afraid of the police and experience distress when I see them because of the uniform or authority.

It is unfortunate these incidents are happening on your watch. I am hopeful that my willingness to stand up to bullies and those who demonstrate such clear insensitivities to the rights of Canadians and in particular those living with varying degrees of mental and or physical disabilities will be helpful to your Office. That is, the Office that both grants and revokes the licenses of Private Investigators and Security Guards in Manitoba.

Thank you for your attention to what, for me, has been both a devastating incident and significant set back to my recovery.

Respectfully submitted,

B.R.

Shoppers Drug Mart racism and bad atitude

My wife purchased eye lash product that eretated her eyes, she went back to return it with out receipt even with a store credit but they refused and they were very rood and asked her for receipt. My wife looked every where until we found it in the car. I went my self to return it. The cashier said we can not take it back because it was $59 plus tax even with the receipt now. I asked for the manager. He came. His name was Frank. with the security because there was also another problem before me. The security officers are form the mall (Tecumseh Mall). He refused taking it back because it was open. I told him of course it has to be open. how can she try it and like it or doesn't with out opening it. I tried to convince him that when you purchase any thing and doesn't suit you or affect your health, you should be able to return it specially when you have proof of purchase and less than 30 days. He answer was ( I don't know what country you are coming from but we don't do this in Canada) I don't understand what this has to do with the this issue. but that reflect his racism. I told him I am Canadian and I have been living in Canada for 17 years and I told him I don't believe you if you want to tell me you never purchased something that you didn't like and return it, . That was in front of the mall security and did not do any thing.

I would absolutely BOYCOTT any store that allowed for the return of opened products of a personal nature.

Dude, your wife had that c*** on her eyes! I'm not sure where in Canada you have lived for 17 years, but you can be GD sure that NO store is going to return opened personal care items, opened pills (seal broken), food with bites taken out of it,

I would imagine there is a very large portion of women in Canada that have a drawer full of cosmetic products that they purchased, and then could not use! One of the joys of being a woman...it looks great in the package, but doesn't look right on the skin, or it causes irritation.

Why you expect SDM to take a $59 dollar loss because of your wife's allergy/sensitivity is beyond me. If I even heard a rumour my local pharmacy was allowing refunds on products like that I'd never shop there again..

There is a very good reason that stores do not permit any refund or exchange on personal items, especially one used on the eyes. Is it Shopper's Drug Mart's fault that the product irritated her eyes?

Would you want to walk in and buy a product of a personal manner that could have been previously used?

I fail to see where racism plays any part in your complaint, and I'm wondering what kind of person wants to return for a refund a product that has touched their eyes? I suppose you would also have no problem walking into a sex store and asking for a refund because the toy wasn't as fun as you thought it might be. Do you return toilet paper that leaves balls behind, or candy with a bite taken out of it?

Shoppers Drug Mart insulting promotion

Shoppers Drugs Mart is one big FAIL in my opinion. In early November, I received a "gift" package from them with an image of an older women on the front. The gift was selected "just for you" or similar wording. I opened it to find two incontinence pads. I don't use these and, even if I did, would I want something like this is the mail, or would I buy it? The real complaint is with their appalling management/marketing team who, despite THREE letters, one accompanying the returned product, has done NOTHING in terms of communication. No apology. Nothing. When I called, I got some underling in the "Customer Service" department listen to my complaint, then ASK ME TO REPEAT IT while she wrote it down. I said I was too busy. I Tweeted and someone from the same department left a VM asking me to call them back. In this day of Social Media, how very short-sighted this is. Overpriced merchandise as well.

It was a GIFT, not a purchase, princess - and you sound like a pissy person to me, so the pads were appropriate. Next time, ask Shoppers Marketing to send you an enema to flush out the pole stuck up your ###.

Shoppers Drug Mart rude 'service'

On January 2, 2012 before 11 pm, I asked the only person in the pharmacy, a female in her 30s whom I later found out was named Rupi if they had any Nim Jom cough medicine. She told me that she didn't think the store carried it anymore, and said, "If we have it, it's in aisle 5." When I found it on the shelf and approached the counter, she said in a very abrupt tone, "I'm busy helping someone here". She pointed at me to move back from the counter where no one was standing. I told her, "you're very rude". Because there was someone standing in the waiting area to the side with no one else in sight, she said with a subtley sarcastic tone, "sorry", however I said that she didn't sound sorry at all, but would be when I report her to her manager. The cosmetic female at the front of the store also had an Attitudinal Tone and wasn't helpful either, saying, "There isn't any manager here." When I asked for an Assistant Manager, she said there wasn't one of those either. I didn't get a name or time of any Manager except "Laura" after I asked a third time when she would be in the store and "She'll be in Wednesday", two days later. It's time to Educate your Staff in Communication Skills, as I won't be shopping at Shoppers from now on.

Shoppers Drug Mart unethical practice, very poor customer service

I am a regular at Shoppers and spend $100-$150 per week on an average. I had a horrible experience with the store manager Mr. Maher and other store managers from Yonge & King store (toronto).
The issue is, on August 14, I picked up 2 different varieties of Listerine mouthwash to the cashier and asked the lady to check the prices. After she did so by scanning both the products, I chose the variety with lower price ($8.99) for purchase and asked her to set aside the costlier variety. She did set aside the costlier bottle ($10.99) but she did not remove the product from my bill.
I always act in good faith and never match the receipt. However, I checked the bill accidentally after few months later and immediately went to the store, to the same counter where I was serviced.
The lady did not listen to me at all and asked me to go back to the store when the particular person whose registration no. appears in my receipt will be present.
I again went back next day at the scheduled time but there was some other lady at the counter and she called the cash manager but the cash manager asked me to talk to the store manager over phone.
Next day, I called up the store manager but he was so rude that he started shouting at me over the phone and kept the phone down. Instead of saying sorry, he accused me of framing a story. I tried to explain to him that why would the customer take so much of pain to go back to the store twice or make phone calls, write emails just for a 10 dollar listerine mouthwash had it not been true, but he was not in a mood to listen!
I even raised a compaints in the online feedback section of Shoppers website but no one from Shoppers contacted me or responded back.
I called up the customer service at [protected] but the person said he does not have any way to validate my story! (isn't the customer supposed to be taken at face value!) I even explained him that since they scanned the bar code of the product and it never left the store with me, it is either still present in the shop or have been resold to another customer. A thorough database search must reveal the truth. but they are not interested to investigate even!
Horrible experience!

I would like to keep you updated. They said they checked the security tapes and I did take the Listerine home. I even apologized and called them up when I found the ($10.99) Listerine in my trunk. The manager still thinks I was trying to frame a story for ten bucks. He told me not to return to his store.

Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist sam yelling at me because I complained 2nd time of wrong prescription

I've gotten my Marvelon (the pill) prescription from this location for the past 3 years. Earlier this year they ran out, didn't tell me, and gave me the generic version. I asked them why and they told me they had sold out of the brand name that my doctor had written on my prescription so i transferred the remainder of the year's worth of pills to another shoppers. (I can only pick up 3 packs at a time - restriction in place from my insurance). I got a new prescription from my doctor this summer on which she specifically wrote 'no substitution' (irrelevant to my complaint which medical reasons for this). I picked up another 3 packs today and went to take my pill at bedtime and I had again been given the wrong prescription. I called the pharmacy to see if again they'd ran out of Marvelon, and Sam the pharmacist started yelling at me! Said it was the same thing (it's not) and what did I want him to do. I told him I need to return it, and was wondering if they'd again ran out of the kind I was supposed to get - in which case he should have told me as my prescription says they're not allowed to substitue. He told me they didn't run out and he had HIS customers in front of him to deal with and if I wanted to come wait till he had time he could replace it tonight. This is not an option for me at 10:50pm to leave my family to go wait until a rude pharmacist decides he has time to rectify his/his team's error. I said I wanted to be assured that it would be ready by the time I got there since i only had time to jump out of my car and run back home. He said he could not do this. So, I have to skip my pill tonight and go back in the morning and hope the day time pharmacist is not so rude and callous. If I knew to expect this service from Shoppers, I might as well go get the same thing at Wal-Mart for half the price!

The previous time was the first time I'd ever had a mix up and it had been such a while ago I didn't remember about it until I opened this pack. Trust me, I won't leave without checking again! The mixup isn't the issue at large here - the horrible customer service is - there's never a situation where you yell at a customer, especially when unprovoked..
Update: I called to speak to the Shoppers Manager last night and she apologized and said they've had many complaints about the night shift manager Sam and immediately gave me the owner's name to speak to in the morning since they should know about this other complaint. I've yet to call as I work all day, but for the store manager to say this - can't imagine what else he's done.

Shoppers Drug Mart ridiculous experience

I purchased some eye makeup remover from Shoppers Drug Mart. It was their own cosmetics brand (Quo) and has the same return policy as the Life brand (satisfaction guaranteed!). It did not work very well and it stung my eyes. I sent an email to the company and told them I would be returning the product. I never did hear back from anyone.

I went to Shoppers to return the makeup remover. The cashier seemed new and was not familiar with the return policy (something I'd assume is part of basic training). She commented that it was used (um, yes, that's how I know it stings my eyes!). The other problem was that I didn't have my receipt.

She called the manager, who was not familiar with the return policy, either. I had to quote from the company's website that I could return a Quo product without a receipt for a full return or exchange. The manager took my word for it but said I would have to come back between 9-5 and do the return with the cosmetics manager!

The experience was completely ridiculous - I threw out the product and never returned (I work between 9-5).

It sounds similar to what happened to me. First I went to the Pharmacist to see if reaction I had could be due to a medication I was taking, and everyone just looked at me, and someone asked me what I needed standing 20 ft away from me, They can't do things quickly, then I go in the front and one of the clerks looks at me and walks in the other direction, then I go to the cashier and she said what kind of card and she wasn't listening to me, then she started to shout at me, then another clerk joined her calling me rude, and a shopper behind me started to shout at me. I felt that I was about to become a victim of a hate crime, it was really ridiculous They seemed to poison everything in the atmosphere, and I get my prescriptions filled at another store, I will probably never go back there either. And they had Christmas carols playing, to add to how ridiculous it was. The store is nice, but the culture is horrible in my opinion.

Shoppers Drug Mart - banned for life

I would like to say my experience with the 728 Yonge St Shoppers Drug Mart location and Scorpion Investigation Agency has been truly disappointing. As an advertising student, I was dissapointed that they had no samples out to see what the product was like, which you usually had. So I decided to open up the container to test the thickness of the wax, I...

Shoppers Drug Mart rude manager

The manager of Shoppers Drug Mart, Store #705, Brampton was extremely rude to me while I was trying to resolve a dispute that involved their Optima card. I had asked to speak to him, since I was not getting any resolution from either the cashier or her supervisor. The manager, Larry Scott, approached me in an extremely confrontational and rude way, in fact he walked up to me yelling. He used foul language and made absolutely no attempt to listen to my complaint. I was absolutely appalled by his rude and unprofessional manner, but after reading similar stories on this website, I realize that this situation is far from unique for Shoppers Drug Mart. I will definitely not be shopping at this store again, and advise SDM, that they have lots of competition, their products can be purchased anywhere, often for less, and if they don't start treating their customers with respect they soon won't have any left!

Obviously he was, but he based his reaction entirely on what the head cashier had told him, and didn't even allow me to give my side of the story. He was also rude and unprofessional; Quote "I don't give a ### what you have to say". That was after I'd asked him if we could speak in private. I did consider contacting their corporate head office, (these stores are privately owned franchises), in fact I stumbled on this website while looking for their Corporate contact information. I ultimately decided that it wasn't worth my time, trouble or emotion and that these types of incidents are quite simply the new reality for consumers. I'm totally over the incident now, (was the the next day, in fact).

Whoa Nelly, I posted my story here because I thought this was a site that advocated for the beleaguered consumer. I didn't realize this was mainly a forum for critiquing other people's complaints! It's been a long time since I've been called to task by somebody from Hogwarts School! Also to "louisstevenson"; your post made me chuckle. How very cynical of you to assume you know the motive for my complaint. I assure you, it wasn't because I was turned down for a job! LOL Anyway kids, thankfully school will soon be back in session so you can all buckle down to your studies again, and leave the websites to the grownups. BTW, just so you know, I won't be returning to this useless forum, so I won't be reading any of your (ahem), "insightful" and "intelligent" retorts.

Shoppers Drug Mart horrible staff bad service

That Old Indian Woman that works at Shopper's at Blundell Mall, Richmond, is very wicked and with horrible services!
This old hag who's grey-haired, tiny and with glasses is a total ###!
I live at the Blundell area. Everytime I shop there I have to avoid her or get help from someone else.
Shopper's should really think of firing her! With such staff member at your company would only bring bad reputation and piss your customers off!

Shoppers Drug Mart safety/hazardous pallet

This evening (June 14, 2011) at around 6:45pm. Me and my husband went to shoppers drug mart to buy some stuffs. Because our house is just walking distance to the store, my husband decided to wear an open slippers. In the middle of the hallway there is a pallet of bottled water. As we are passing through that hall way with the pallet in the middle, suddenly, my husband who was behind me, stopped and said OUCH! so loud that I turned to look at him. I saw his left pinky toe bleeding vigorously. I asked him what happened and he said he was cut by the dented steel in the pallet. So I called the lady for help. I told her what happened to my husband and I said he needs some antibacterial solution and a bandage. As a store manager, I know that Alberta requires all business establishments to have a FIRST AIDER, so if incase there is an accident or injuries customers or employees they should be the one to handle it. But at shoppers drug mart saddleridge circle HAVE NONE. While waiting, I saw that my husbands cut was continiously bleeding. After waiting for 20 minutes the lady come back, hoping she would bring us somebody to clean my husbands wounds (cut), but came with one band aid and one wiper and handed it to me. She said you can use this. Whatta? they should be the one who clean that! it happened inside their premises. They did not even give my husband a chair to sit on so he relax a bit. I just sit my husband in the case of a bottled water. The second lady (Denise)came with a multi purpose cleaner, bandage and paper towel. Handed me again and said, you can use this. She didn't even give us a hand sanitizer to use ! Health and safety is being practice in Calgary! ehy wake up!what a nice customer service they have. they have a huge pharmacy with a lot of medicines but they did not give my husband even antiseptic to use for his bleeding toe. They also let us clean the blood spills on the floor.

So a couple of bandages, an anti-baterial wipe, towels and cleaner for your clothes and the floor aren't enough? What were you looking for, a bone saw and a half-dozen doggie bags?

Look at the bright side, though, at least now those rules about requiring shoes are finally starting to make sense to you, at least, right?
Not sure if you've managed to connect these dots yet, but your husband's foot is just as bloody as it would have been if you'd driven across town wearing those bunny slippers rather than walking a couple of blocks in them.

And next time, please tell us which brand of bottled water was on the pallet your husband splattered his bodily fluids all over, so we know what not to buy from that location for several months.

Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy

The Pharmacy staff at Shoppers Drug Mart on Lacewood Dr. in Halifax NS treat War Veterans with disresepect and treat them like they're stupid.

I transferred my account from another Shoppers Drug Mart to Lacewood Dr. and after examining my first order it was wrong and incomplete. 1 medication was the wrong dose and the staff refused to listen to me when I told them it was the wrong dosage. The pharmacist mocked me and said "we can change it to 3 100's tid, instead of the dose the I said it really was...3 300's tid.

I went home and brought the bottle into the pharmacy from my last fill and they still treated me with disrespect and like I had no idea what I was talking about. I was forced to go back to my Dr and fix it myself.

When I went to the pharmacy to make a formal complaint the Pharmacist pulled me into a cubical and wouldn't let me leave after 3 attempts... the Pharmacist said that my Dr. was confused and that my complaint was unimportant.

Shoppers Drug Mart on Lacewood Dr. in Halifax treats war veterans with disrespect and treat them like they're stupid... I know exactly what medications that I take and what dossage they are...and my Dr. is NOT confused.

The owner never resolved my complaint and so it's clear his staff learns from the example that he leads.

I should retract my comment with regards to the staff at Shoppers treating war vets with disrespect; they only disrespected me in this complaint and since this is just my second time filling my prescriptions there... I will give the staff the bennifit of the doubt and that they had no idea that I was a war vet.

I dropped a prescription on January 19, 2009 and had my husband pick it up on January 20, 2009.

When I opened the bag to take the medication at bedtime, they had not filled the prescription I had dropped off. They had found out that the Trazedone that had been prescribed by my Doctor contraindicated another prescription, so they called my Doctor and decided to substitute Seroquel instead.

I had previously taken Seroquel and had many unpleasant side effects. It had been over two years since I had taken Seroquel and I guess my doctor didn't look that far back in my file. When I called the pharmacy at Shopper's Drug Mart they told me they wouldn't refund the money for the prescription.

I really feel that at some point, I as the patient and consumer, should have been advised of the medication interaction and that Seroquel would have been the substitute. Had I known I would not have accepted that as a substitution, and I certainly would not have paid for it.

Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacists need to keep their consumers informed of all changes to their medication and to accept that this is not entirely the consumer's problem.

I was also told that the specific problems that I had encounted were not listed as a side effect for Seroquel. I really didn't care that no one else complained of the same side effects as I, all I cared about was the complete disregard that both the pharmacy and my Doctor had for my care.

I was just at a shoppers drug mart and my basket was full and I had to go to the washroom very very very badly, I asked the pharmacist to use the washroom she said they did not have one for the public, I told her how bad I had to go, so she said to ask the ###. manager, so I did and she told me that the public washroom that they don't have was broke, and the other washroom the key was misplaced.Well I think this was just a load of B S and bad customer service I left the store without any of the good I was going to buy. She cost that store a fare amount of money's. The location is Lakeshore and Cawthra.

i been a customer for a long time now, i am very upset with the service we are getting at the store #620 in Ottawa, Ontario, since they moved to the new location, the service is so terrible that i am looking to change store, take my business to a different store name, when i call to place an order for my medication, 99% of time, they never answer the phone, i been told that when they are busy, they don't answer the phone, it is up to me to try to contact them, by calling until someone answer, and if someone answer, most of the time they hang up the phone on me, i think i am a very good customer, i spend about more then $1, 500.00 dollar a month at that store, if i am disturbing them, i will go somewhere else, really i never heard of doing business that way, and i know i am not the only one to think that about your store, today i went to pick up some medication, at the front cashier, i was trying to ask her a question, and every time she was running away of me like if i had lepracy, i was really upset, with her attitude and service, i really hope it will change because i will go to a different store name, thank you, mike purdy, from ottawa,

It is Dec 23, 2010 and I just left my Shopper's in Yorkton, Sask. I was appalled to learn that they will be open on Christmas Eve until 12:00 Am and open on Christmas Day. What is happening to us, that we can not even have one day to spend with our families. I am very tempted to take my business elsewhere. There was a lady there yesterday that left her cart full of stuff and left the store because she was so upset about this. Corporations make the decisions that don't even reflect what the population wants. It is very sad. They want us to spend our Christmas dollars there, but don't want to give their employees time off to even do a gift exchange. It is very sad. I am also having a hard time figuring out where to complain to. I came upon this site by accident. I doubt that corporate offices will read these complaints.
I am very frustrated.

I would like to file a complaint against Ann Atiken, the supervisor for the cosmetic department at store 1097 in Stratford. I was a former employee of the store and was fired because I was told that I was not working hard enough. She told me my job was to do all the jobs except selling and the cosmetic girl's job was to do nothing but sell. I have spoken with a number of other cosmetic merchandizers in different stores in Ontario and have found that the downtown Stratford store is the only one that abuses their merchandizers. I was doing jobs that I should not have been doing. I had talked to the store manager about my concerns in regards to my work load. He said that he heard this same complaint from other staffers and would talk to Ann. The week after I spoke with my manager, I was fired. So, by me placing a complaint against Ann Atiken, hopefully Shoppers DrugMart will check out the work conditions at store 1097 and try to figure out why this store has had 4 cosmetic merchandizer in 1 1/2 years. I'm and not doing this to get my job back, I have moved on. I feel I was unjustly fired and hope this will bring attention to the real problem in the cosmetic department at store 1097 in downtown Stratford, Ontario. Regards AAT

I receive e-mail from Shoppers regarding promotions. I tried to submit my Optimum card number to receive 8000 points if I spend $30 or more within certain dates. I have not been able to submit this info. I was given this link to inform Shoppers of the problem. Where do I go from here with it?

crankywildchild,

I know that this is late and you probably will not read this but other probably will.

Did you 1) contact our Head Office;
2) did you file a complaint with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (for the pharmacy in question, spec. the attending pharmacist) and;
3) did you file a complaint with the Ontario Medical Association (for the conduct of your family doctor)?

Maddi,

We are aware of it. Unfortunately, our Head Office doesn't care. The current corporate structure demands that all available free space be used to display stock. My store used to have wide enough aisles that three buggies could be pushed side by side without hitting anything. Now I can barely navigate two without hitting anything.

I help two visually impaired and four wheelchair bound customers every other week. I usually ask them what they want and get the items while they wait for me up at the front. Unless there is a change in direction back to more open stores, we are pretty much stuck with cluttered aisles.

Regards,
REO

Shoppers Drug Mart terrible customer service

I am sending this e-mail in the hope of getting the attention of shareholders that manage customer relations for Shoppers Drug Mart. My friends and I live in the northeast section of Edmonton Alberta. We usually deal with the store in that end located on 118 Avenue and 34 street.

We have been "ripped off" so many times from this store. Items that are marked down or advertised at a discounted price are "charged at the normal price" frequently. We try to check our receipts while we are in the store but the counters are usually very busy and the clerk and customers behind us "are not very happy to be kept waiting" so we check the receipt in our vehicle or at home. When the clerk is shown the error, we are then treated "as an irritating customer". How is that for "customer service"?

I also want to mention that I have the optimum card and am sent promotions through my e-mail that the store is running for that week. The clerks fail to mention the promotions and when the customer addressed them, they are questioned as to whether this is correct or not. I don't feel I should have to print and prove that your store is running a particular promotion - the clerk should know it! I also feel it is the clerk's responsibility to tell the customer how many points they have on their optimum card and to indicate how much they are worth and do we want to reimburse any. I have never had any of the clerks do this unless I specifically requested it. What is this card good for anyway?

As your customer service is very bad, I don't expect too much from this e-mail. It would be nice to at least know that you have received it and acknowledge the message herein. As of this date, my friends, my daughter and I will no longer shop at the northeast Edmonton store. We do have a Rexall Drug store just a bit further down the road. A bit inconvenient but better "customer service".

By the number of NEGATIVE complaints within your website it is obvious you do not pay attention to customers with complaints. Well, you should. You have alot of competition in this field. I think it is to your benefit to pay attention to us - we pay your salary and keep you alive!

I could not find a website to send this to so it ends up here. Is there no headquarters website because CEO's don't care?

Last month I called in my birth control prescription so it would be ready for pick up when I arrived. When I did arrive which was after the quoted time it still wasn't ready so I waited. After 15 minutes I checked to see if it was ready and it was. No one took the time to tell me considering I was sitting in the waiting room clearly visible to staff.
This month I did the same and called in my order. The woman told me it would be 40 minutes. I double checked with her on the time and hung up. When I arrived to pick up my order the pharmacist told me it would be a minute or two, as she was waiting for the head pharmacist to OK my prescription. I waited and watched the head lady as she stood with her back to me on the computer. She then proceeded to make a phone call, and kept me waiting almost 10 minutes. Eventually I approached the counter and said 'excuse me' she ignored me so I said it again 'excuse me' she turned around and acknowledged me. I said 'I realize your time is valuable, but so is mine if you could just look at my prescription I will be on my way' Finally she took 30 seconds from what she was doing and I got my prescription. And just so this is clear my birth control is simply a box that needs to be put in a bag and given to me, so there was no reason why I should have waited an hour and been treated like my business didn't matter!
I only have 1 refill left and plan on going to Rexall for my next prescription.

I am wondering with the honesty of Shopers drugmart. I bought SUCRETS COMPLETE from 2751 Eglinton Ave East, Toronto yeastarday night, OCT. 29, 2011 for my bad breath and cough releaf but it was giving me more pain with bad cough. To find the reason, I checked the expiry date has been over by 06/2011. This is my complaint against the Shopers Drugmart for selling the expired medicine.

I've never had a problem filling my prescriptions there. They're usually done within 15 mins and they have a pager now that you can carry with you in-store that buzzes when your prescriptions are ready.

You needed a refill on your prescription. Perhaps now you should read the notes appearing on your prescription bag, and on the official receipt. If you would have respected the wishes of all pharmacies, you would have allowed 24 hours for refills. We are not simply slapping a label on something and putting it in a bag for you. We have rules to follow and laws to abide by. Don't get me wrong, I understand the ignorance. I see and hear about it every day. It comes from people like you who think that just because you are the only one in the waiting room, that we have nothing better to do than watch the way you people ignore this request. It is the only business that allows you people to cut in line. You don't realize that almost everyone ignores this 24 hour request. Do you think that maybe you could try to call the pharmacy one day "before" you run out of your prescription? Maybe if you understood our jobs a little better... We enter and fill the prescription, check for interactions, look up dosing, fax doctors to correct errors, order medications, make blister packs for those who require one, make compounds, do medication reviews, fax doctors for refills, deal with third party adjudications, and the list goes on...Just understand that we are filling your prescription for MEDICATION, not fast food. Treat it as such and realize that we are being forced to fill this prescription as quickly as we can without making mistakes. If you have trouble with that, perhaps you should shadow a pharmacy employee for a day. Yes this is a business but most people make me feel like I can't kiss thier butt fast enough. Next time you need to fill a prescription maybe you can keep in mind how much is involved and that you're not ordering a pizza.

Shoppers Drug Mart nocare/concern customer bad business practise / liars

I have purchased expensive cosmetics from shoppers. Offered no samples, gifts when there were available. An event was coming up, Alexis, the cosmetics "manager" phoned me because she knew of my purchases, told me about Lancome event where I was to receive a gift, which I had been waiting for. She had my phone number, was supposed to phone me to let me know the date and time of event. She was going to put my name on a Lancome gift, to be kept aside for me. She did not phone me -- I call after the fact, she gets defensive, starts making excuses PLUS MY GIFT was GIVEN TO ANOTHER PERSON--THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! not even apologetic, defensive again, I must wait for the next gift! How is my gift, with my name, phone number given to someone else? she insults me, wants to get off the phone very quick.
I told her that because of this unacceptable situation I am returning a purchase which I have not opened or used and she says she WILL NOT TAKE IT BACK!
I could have purchased elsewhere where they had a gift but this youngster --put such a spin on this "event" so I lost out
it is a newer shoppers and the staff there dont have proper training if you want to know about cosmetics ie Lancome Clarins etc --tthey just say they are good BEST TO BUY AT THE BAY IF YOU WANT PROFESSIONALS AND ETHICS
I AM DISGUSTED

Shoppers Drug Mart rude

On May 5th 2011 at 5.00 pm I visited the shoppers at BCE place - underground path next to longos. Trying out some lip stick, the next thing I know on of the staffers calls another attendant whispers something in his ear, and as I want around the store they have someone following me. I have never felt so humiliated before, did not want to create a scene as I work at the BCE place in a corporate office. maybe because I was brown skinned I have no idea - but I have often experience very rude staff and attendants at all the shoppers, makes me wonder if the corporate does not have some mandatory training for its staff!

Shoppers Drug Mart poor service!!!

They having promotion buy 100 gives 40 gift card ran off the gift card at the location I brought my stuffs and they told me to go any other shopper to get my gift card just give them mine rain check paper . when I am a ride at 100- 1323 Centre St. Nw Calgary AB T2E 2R5 the ( assistance manager named : Densie told me with a very mean void that is have nothing to do with her store because I am not purchase stuffs at her store. and refused to let's me re-dime my 40$ rain check . and asked me to go back to the store I purchased my stuffs. when I called back to the store I purchased the assistance manager said it should be ok to re-dime it at other store and asked me to give the phone to the cashier and I did. after they finished their conversation the girl asked me to return all my stuffs I have brought and re-purchase again and I am like what ? I already left my stuffs at home already are you expect me to go home and come back again ? from my home to their like 20 mins drive ( gas too cheap or what? ) and when my boyfriend asked them to talk to store manager they all said their store manager not here in both location. and at the end I got nothing just a fk piece of paper said 40$ dollars rain check and can not re-dime to a fk gift card. I am felling like scam when I brought stuffs at the first place I already asked are you sure you have the gift card and he said yes! after I paid he said Oh I am so sorry: " we're sold out of the gift card . we only can give you a rain check that you can go to re-dime at other location or come back here in the future time oh well he don't even tell me when should I come back . if you don't have it why don't you just tell me at the first so I can design to buy or not. ( the rain check only has 30 days to re-dime and they don't know when they will have that gift card again. which mean if they keep said next week and next week after 4 weeks my rain check will expire and a ha see you and gud luck ! I am very disappointed with this kind of customer service they called themselves managers and can not do anything Like it not mine business! I spend more than 100 today and got yelled at when I asked for what you guys promised. poor service ...! Shoppers Drug Mart insulting service

I have purchased this same type of mascara from them in the past on multiple occasions. The cost is $20. Not an inexpensive product and the reason I purchase it is because it does not run or smear. No raccoon eyes. Well I purchased the same product yesterday and half way through the day, the mascara had smudged. When returning home I decided to stop at the store and explain the situation. When I told the retail employee that the tube inside the box was a different colour, she told me I was wrong. She did not want to hear my situation and was only worried about if I had purchased it there. When I told her that I had never had problems with the product in the past, she told me she never liked that product. Totally disrespectful. To top things off, when I walked away she started laughing with her co-worker. Once home, I called the store to share my experience and concern. Since the manager was not in, they would not even listen to what happened. When I went on-line to file the complaint, a note states, expect a two week wait time.
I purchase mascara every 4 to 6 weeks. So this annual purchase of $173 will no longer be seen in their cash register or the shareholder's revenue reporting. This equates to at least another 40 years of me wearing mascara, if I'm a typical women, equalling $6920. The worse of it, I will not return to this retailer who cannot ensure that their employees treat a paying customer with respect. My total annual purchases with them on all drugs, groceries and misc. is $2500. One lonely lifetime customer lost from a disrectful employee caused from a bad hiring = $100, 000
Stand up for what your hard earned money is worth. Don't let profit driven retailers treat you with disrespect. Let the shareholders know the consequences, simply ban them.

That is the problem with the new upscale Shoppers. The make-up artists are well trained but the rest of the store is your typical low paid, badly trained retail worker.

Buy your mascara from a department store and keep the receipt. Department stores usually have no-hassle return/exchange policies and when you have a receipt it is even easier (they also keep client files to serve you better and to send you notes about gifts and samples). They pay their staff more and do more training on customer service. They also have great gifts so if you buy your mascara two at a time (most gifts have a minimum purchase) at gift time you will end up with a $20 lipstick, and a bunch of other stuff. The Bay is really good, Eaton's was awesome but gone, and Sears is ok. Holt's is great too but not across Canada.

Shoppers Drug Mart toxic entrance

I can't believe that Shoppers Drug Mart has the gall to inundate customers with that horrible smell of perfumes upon entering the store. Perfumes are filled with all kinds of toxic ingredients, not to mention that many people are allergic to them. They stopped selling cigarettes, but walking into most of the new stores now is like walking into a room filled with cigarette smoke. Why isn't someone doing something about this? Seriously, WHO thinks this is okay? I get my prescriptions and go to the post office there, but have to walk through those toxic smells to get to them. Perhaps I could get my prescriptions somewhere else, but it houses our main post office, so that's unavoidable. All I can say is MOVE THAT SECTION or get rid of it altogether!

toxic?really? which exact ingredients in fragrance is toxic? and where is a link that proves this by a non biased source?
they stopped selling cigarettes because of legislation enacted years ago where no retailer with an existing pharmacy is allowed to sell tobacco products. show us the proof to your claimss that smelling a fragrance is just as toxic as smoking...show me one reputable study.
i suppose they should stop selling toothpaste with flouride in it since a lot of people claim its bad for you.
maybe they shouldn't get their floors waxed since that can leave particles in the air and some people may believe thats toxic.
maybe sick people shouldn't come into the store and sneeze because that could male people ill.
maybe the bay and sears will move their toxic fragrance sections to a locked room to satisfy people like you.
gimmie a break...

Shoppers Drug Mart ignorant uninformed pharmacists

The pharmacists here are among the least caring and illegitimate phamacists I have worked with. They are completely unwilling to do ANYTHING to help out the people, us innocent patients who have been prescribed these fake manufactured drugs to temporarily ease our symptoms, drugs which have terrible side effects and many that make us addicted to them and which DO NOT CURE us. I have gone through hours and hours of phone conversations with these people(pharmacists) and the doctor's offices trying to get them to give me a higher dosage of my medication so that I am not stuck seeing my pharmacist every week to continuously renew my dozens of prescriptions. I am only in my 20's and I cannot imagine how much worse it will be in the future. I also went to the trouble of doing all of this, to be informed that the pharmacy had never recieved a fax from my doctors office to increase my dosage and that I would have to make everyone repeat the process... just because some idiots aren't doing their jobs at recording incoming faxes and updating our files as necessary.

I have also gone in there several times to pick up prescriptions that are not done when they are supposed to be done. How lazy is that? I hate pharmacists.

The Ontario Ministry of Health changed the guidelines recently on prescriptions - doctors need to submit more documentation with prescriptions (to combat fraud and abuse). They also need to submit your Health Card number with prescriptions now. It sucks for people on medication, but a pharmacist isn't a doctor - they are only dispensing your medication. Pharmacists (in Ontario) are not authorized to change your dosage - only your doctor can do that. If the pharmacy didn't get your renewal, it could be their mistake - or it could be your doctor.
