Shoppers Drug Mart - medicine dispensing error

Hello - we are in need of help! Our 11 year old male dog was prescribed Meloxicam for arthritis. The tablet form is dispensed at the human pharmacy. The Shoppers Drug Mart at 49505 Yale Road in Chilliwack was brought the prescription. The prescription was clearly written by our vet. The medication was not dispensed according to the prescription. The prescription was for 1/2 tablet once a day. The bottle said 1/2 a tablet FOUR times a day. Both pharmacists had admitted their mistake to the vet. The pharmacy manager admitted the mistake to me and the vet.

Our poor dog suffered a quadruple overdose which led to a perforated ulcer, much pain & suffering and 30 hrs at the Animal ER in Langley - not to mention the anguish for us - we almost lost him. Shoppers Drug Mart has tried to access the blame to the veterinarian because of a very common abbreviation that was used. I have asked SDM how many prescriptions were brought to a SDM that were written by veterinarians and used the same abbreviations…. We received a letter today where Shoppers Drug Mart has basically washed their hands of us and our claim.

We are in need of help with this - Shoppers Drug Mart and their insurance claims adjuster, Claims Pro representative, Carolynn Westlake are bullying us. Our vet/hospital bills are up to $3,500 with more to come. Our pet is recovering but the vet feels he should be monitored for a year to check on his liver & kidney function. Shoppers Drug Mart is representing that they have been in contact with one of the pharmacists insurance but not the other. Do they think that we should be able to find that insurance company? We are flabbergasted.

We have been long long time Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy customers and are appalled that they think they can just say they can’t do anything….. We have attached some documents and have many many more if you like.
Sincerely,

Debbie & John Harper

Desired outcome: would like our expenses to be reimbursed

Shoppers Drug Mart - wrongfully accused/stolen credit cards/description by employee/police called/lied to/surounded by police/walking/daytime/personal loss/april 19/10

April 19, 2010, daytime, Randy Allain and I, Nikki Lingenfelter went into shoppers, showed an Optimum points card, left the store, crossed the street, on foot, surrounded by the police, four police vehicles, swatt team with guns and bullet proof vests, hands on hood, legs apart, yelled at, let me see your credit cards, empty your pockets and purse, won't tell me why, where did you just come from? You know what we are looking for! I start crying, scared, humiliated, we are treated like criminals. When nothing is found we are checked for drugs, warrants, another policeman shows up screams an inch from my face, spittles on me. Finally told Shoppers called the police because we had stolen credit cards and tried to use them and that a Shoppers employee gave our description. Let go, no appology. We go back to Shoppers, ask why, everyone denies calling the police and giving our description of us to the police. No one in the store would own up to calling the police when we told what happened, supervisor shows up and says he will check into it and find out what happened. He calls us at home later, says no employee from shoppers called the police it was the mall security. We explain that cannot be, it would have to be someone who saw us to give description, someone who saw the card to tell the police and would have to be there in the store when we were there. He doesn't appologise or even do anything about what happened, no one was even repremanded. We were treated awful, like criminals, yelled, screamed at, frisked, checked for drugs, warrants and suffered a very personal loss which both the police and Shoppers were aware of. Now head office, owners, some big wig there in the company what will be done now that this is brought to your attention? More lies and no appologies? I am hurt, disgusted, afraid to go into Shoppers and get my prescriptions and upset at our personal loss. I sure don't feel like a valued customer! I am interested to see what will be done now and wonder if I will be contacted by head office and finally have some kind of appology, not that there would be any real compassion or meaning behind the words. Nikki Lingenfelter

Shoppers Drug Mart - nikki lingenfelter/wrong accused stolen credit cards/we were lied to/by shoppers/frisked/yelled at by police/walking/daytime/personal loss/april/19/10

Four Police/Swatt Team surrounded me and Nikki Ann, they had guns and bullet proof vests, got out of police vehicles, threw me up against the side of a car, and frisked me. When I asked, "What is all this about?", they responded, "Don't play dumb, you know what this is about. Where did you just come from?" I told them we just came from Shoppers Drug Mart. I heard another POLICE OFFICER screaming at Nikki Ann, saw him throw her against the front of the car, hands on the hood, feet apart, frisking her and never said why. He told her to open her purse and show him credit cards. With no woman police officer there she said she didn't have to but showed them the card she showed at Shoppers, an OPTIMUM POINTS CARD, she said for him not to be rude, she was innoscent until proven guilty. They kept yelling at her, she was scared, shaking, crying and asking what she did wrong, they wouldn't tell her. Another officer came, she asked for respect, I never did anything wrong, he yelled in her face, you get respect when you give respect. I tried to get in the middle, another officer grabbed me, I said she never did anything wrong, they ran our names and checked for warrants. They found out the stolen credit cards were just an Optimum Points card they kept yelling, being rude and still treated us like criminals. An officer said we got so many police because the day was slow and they had nothing else to do. Nikki Ann kept asking for an appology, they never gave one, she started to yell they should treat people with respect and find out the truth. We had no warrants, they realised we had a points card not stolen credit cards and had nothing illegal in our pockets they finally let us go. They finally told us SHOPPERS DRUG MART called the police on us and gave ou descriptions. We returned to Shoppers to find out why. They denied even calling the police. We explained it had to be an employee, security weren't in the store and the police said someone from shoppers called and gave our description. Someone would have to say stolen credit cards were tried for the police to be called and only a mistake from an employee of the store could have done this over a points card! The supervisor blamed mall security and sluffed us off like we were gum on his shoe. He called us later and said no one from the store called the police, still said mall security called. The police had our description and said SHOPPERS DRUG MART called the police on us. Still when told this he denied his employees or himself having any part in calling the police and never appologised. Because of Shoppers, Nikki Ann and myself were treated like criminals, rudely, and screamed at. Also, a personal loss resulted from this HUMILIATING and FRIGHTENING situation, which the police at the time were aware of because I told them when they fist grabbed Nikki Ann. Nikki Ann and I spend alot of money each month at this store. We have been faithful customers and now Nikki Ann won't even go into the store. I ask that head office, the owners or someone high up try to make this right, appologise, do something, at least acknowledge your employees and supervisor have wronged us. I feel this is a definate HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE and should be speedily dealt with, with some form of closure for your "VALUED CUSTOMERS" Nikki Ann Lingenflter and myself, Randy Allain. I look forward to hearing back from someone quickly and properly with respect and compassion that should have taken place on April 19, 2010. In your hands, my e-mail is: [protected]@yahoo.ca
