We insured with shipsurance and paid for coverage. There was damage and our claim was over $10, 000 and even though we filed the claim on time, it was denied. Ariel schmorak is a thief and you should never use shipsurance/dsi ever.

Looking at online boards, it seems that shipsurance scam is not a localized issue but it is something I have ready about in many locations. People have said that claims get denied all the time. Why bother paying for something if you are not going to get the protection you paid for?

Well ariel?

One person stated they called lloyds of london and asked if their claim was being processed. Guess what

: they never got a claim from shipsurance :

What does this tell you? Shipsurance will take your money, not tell their underwriter and deny the claim. This way the underwriter is not seeing this scam and ariel schmorak keeps the money and you get screwed!

: shipsurance is a scam and must be reported :

This company (shipsurance) is a scam. we have paid them to insure our items on ebay for the last 2 or 3 months. we ship about 200-250 items a month. if you read the fine print, which I didn't until they denied payment on a damaged item because the buyer returned the item to us before we could file a claim. that alone is reason to deny payment. they also demand that the buyer keep the item, take pictures of the item and packaging and then they make the buyer (my customer) go online and fill out their (shipsurances) form. then they want my customer to take the item to a 3rd party and get a repair estimate. that could take several hours of their time! well needless to say most of these customers are upset when the open a package and what they have spent money on, waited for and sometimes badly need is damaged. now, they are not in the mood to do all this work to help you (me). they are in a hurry to return the item and get their refund and maybe give me a bad review online. I admit that some customers are such nice people that they will do all this for you but shipsurance realizes that these people are not the norm and they (shipsurance) usually won't have to pay you. I learned this the hard way.
lesson # 2 (learned the hard way also). they will accept your payment to insure any package but will not pay the claim if it contained glass. that was a $900 lesson and the glass wasn't broken but lost. it was an automotive windshield. usps was responsible for that one and are still insisting they will find it. its been nearly 2 months. lol we had to ship a second one at our cost. well, so far 2 claims and no payment which brings me to today and the main reason I am writing this. emma rodgers, who signs emails as emma r handles the ebay claims and loves to send needless emails asking stupid questions. like what is the name of my customer, after my customer has filled out and submitted their form stating all my customers information! I could go on and on about how rude and unprofessional this lady is but you can google her name along with shipsurance and you can read all about her from other unhappy people. when I read the statement that these complaints on the internet are false, I had to tell my story. I don't think this is the end of the story as I am going to sue shipsurance in small claims. thanks for listening (reading) as they have left me unable to afford therapy for the mental anguish all this has caused me!

Beware of this company. it is a scam. they pay claims under 100 dollars, but if you have a claim over that amount they will not pay it or pay way less than it is insured for. will make you jump through hoops and get repair estimates, but will not give you a copy of their repair estimate and then pay you whatever they want. they insist you use a professional company and use someone you do not know and when they think your repair estimate is too high, even though you have gone to a reputable company, they use someone ""they know" to give you an estimate that is half of what it should be. they supposedly get it from a one man operation in california, but refuse to give you copy the item damaged in shipping was a collectible antique item that does not have the same value repaired. but they continue to ignore that fact every time you mention it.. even when you reject what they say they will pay, they go ahead and stick it in you paypal account. do not call them when they ask you to call. it just gives them a license to bully and intimidate you. communicate everything in writing only. everyone scammed needs to file a complaint with the department of insurance in california.. no doubt they will reply to this comment that all you have to do is call them, don't make that mistake. you will get nowhere.

I think we should start a class action suit against them. I am currently having the exact same problem. My package was lost by USPS. I insured it and now they don’t want to pay for it.

Shipsurance denied 4 lost packages worth $4800. This company needs to be shut down and I have already reported them to the Attorney General for further investigation. I am filling a lawsuit on them and readyship for even considering using them in their application.

They refused to pay my claim even thouh I had pictures from the buyer of the destroyed shipping box with crushed sides and punctures in it. And then they canceled my policy. They are a HUGE RIP OFF!

We have been using Shipsurance since 2004 (they were DSI then) and this complaint must be a farce. We met them at a trade show and they sold us back then. Since then, out of the 20 or so claims we have filed, only 2 were not paid. And do you know why? We forgot to insure them!
I can reach them on the phone (hello David and Scott!) if I have questions and their system is hooked up with Endicia Dazzle and eBay.
Anyhow, just my $0.02. Why smear a company for no reason?

@ skier.. thanks for the info about endicia.. I will look at it and then compare with stamps.com.. by the way, when you use stamps.com, you can ship first class outside usa. no more waiting in line at the usps :)

I have been using shipsurance for a while. but I am leaving due to 2 reasons : 1) their customer support, samantha petlik, is very ignorance. I sent her emails 3 times + phone calls and never get any response. 2) their system has big failure. even if they do not cover express mail under $100.00 their system will take the money away and it is hard to get a refund. since I do not get any response from them, I went to bbb and reported them. I will stop using their service once my fund is gone. I have signed up at stamps.com. stamps.com gives coverage to country shipsurance do not cover, such as brazil.

I have used this company for around 3 months and I can tell you the company is a scam. Its like pulling teeth for them to pay a claim no matter what the size of the claim is. Its some small company that will do there best to make it difficult to get a claim processed and paid. Most of the time you need to follow up multiple times to even get the claim processed. I have since switched back to Endicia insurance which never puts up a fight paying claims and is a much larger more reputable company. I highly recommend people look at other insurance options other then Shipsurance.

I sell on Etsy and was reading their forum titled "Has anyone used shipsurance?". I then read through the "pissed consumer" website it referenced (wow, what an angry looking website!) and searched the web. I stumbled upon this review.

Why is this world cagro insurance company spreading rumors in hopes of getting more business? All these names have posted the same negativity: "rsinnc", "facebookbrick", "ObserverS", "Stone Steede", "Shannon Steede", "Tyler Berthiume", "BigTMan" . Why post this? It comes across as nonsense. Do you believe that smearing another company is good for business? It may work for AT&T and Verizon, but this looks fishy.

By the way, I self insure because my items are under $100 and I use UPS, so I don't use an insurance company. However I felt compeled to post here because if this spammy stuff happened to my costume jewelry business I would hope others would do the same.

It seems that the posted below has it right, if it walks like a duck and quacks, it is a duck. if you try to hide the fact that there are issues (with a n y business) and fluff it off that it is merely a lie, then you are more ignorant that originally speculated.

If this is fake, then what about the other posts on pissedconsumer? even if this is false, it seems that your company has some serious issues on service, reliability and trust.

Written by fbo62, shipsurance is an unprofessional organization. 2 - 3 claims and they raise your rates and lower your coverage to the point that you can't do business. the worse part is that they only give you a few days notice! and good luck collecting if the claim is > $100. I am glad to get the worldcargoinsurance.com information, I will definitely be calling them for a quote.

Regularjoe1, I am sorely disappointed with shipsurance; 'not using them any more. as a vendor, you are better off charging your buyers for insurance, pocketing the insurance money, then covering lost or damaged parcels yourself. I make my buyers jump through a couple of hoops before I refund money, but it saves me so much time and hassle just to be self-insured, rather than insure through a carrier or 3rd party. shipsurance was not friendly or helpful to me; I will not use them.

To regularjoe1, I am sorry that you are resorting to self-insuring after your horrible experience with shipsurance. it seems that even after receiving poor experience, their reply online does not even include a persons name! I would think that instead of replying in a cookie-cutter way, that they would have offered a phone number or even a person to talk with to discuss this issue. I hope that you find a solution that not only benefits you but one that is better than dealing with a disappointing company like shipsurance. it seems their reply is as disappointing! :x

Get a clue, ariel, are you really that stupid that would you point a finger at a company and accuse them when I posted this, not anyone else. you know that opens you up for legal action? maybe I should call them and let them know who I am if they want to sue you for defamation. I am the poster of this article nor am I in any way associate with any "competitor". it seems you are trying some pathetic attempt to slander someone. you did no pay my claim even though I filed everything correctly. I have no reason to lie like you do. I got screwed, you didn't. now it is time to take your medicine. I use u-pic now since they are much better at insuring than you are. that is the reference to their name you idiot. I still stand behind the fact that you run a scam and it is well within my legal right as a us citizen to use the first amendment and tell others before they get robbed too. nice try ariel. you have no clue and based on your reply, you really are a pathetic person to place unfounded blame on someone. this shows your true personality and why others should never use you to ship again. everyone, I switched to u-pic instead of shipsurance. I suggest you go anywhere except shipsurance. you will have no protection and you could get robbed like I did!

This is an obviously a fake review meant to defame Shipsurance. The person filing the complaint is obviously trying to defame the company. Instead of contacting the DOI about this false statement, they are using a public forum so they can hide behind anonymity. Websites such as this allow conjecture to look like fact.

This complaint is purely fictitious.

The statement above "... Looking at online boards, it seems that shipsura nce scam is not a localized issue but it is something I have ready about in many locations ..." also points to doubt as the author is posting this same complaint on other websites, altering it ever so slightly to seem like multiple complaints.

If anyone is reading this fake complaint and has concerns about Shipsurance's viability, please call them direct at [protected] and they will discuss your concerns. Unfortunately, the Internet allows anyone to be defamed while hiding behind anonymity. If any person that was not anonymous stated "... shipsur ce will take your money and ... " they would be served with a defamation lawsuit; hence, fiction authors flood the Internet with falsities like this.
