somebody sent me a sms which says " you have won 2, 50, 000.00 GBP in the shell intl. mobile draw,
telling me to claim my prize through a mail. i did send a mail and they have replied, telling that i need to send 30, 000 INR to a courier service called " UPS COURIER SERVICE."
plz tell about me the authenticity of this mail and sms.

First of all dont get over excited. Approach this problem logically. I know lottery business means great bucks. But why the heck they should send an SMS to your mobile phone. First of all, you dont even know it is legit is the first place. Plus you are coming here and asking whether you'l get your money or not. Infact there is no money in the first place. This clearly is an action of fraud or forgery or even fooling around.
These people (SHELL) try to attack human's non-stop needs - MONEY without work. I see that more than 400 have replied to this thread all having a same motive, that "what if the message is true?". That is what drives these fraudulent fellas. Well, this cannot be avoided. But try to be sensible.

I have received the message 1week before that my mobile no:has won the 2009 Shell International mobile draw of 250000 pounds and it was asked to contact the mail address:shellpetroleum2009@live.com.Then i got a winning notification from shell petroleum signed by Mr.Greg Smith. It was said that the prize money has been deposited in the Halifax Bank and i contacted the bank e-mail address.There was also a form that was to be filled up selecting one of the two options:Courier Delivery Or Bank Telegraphic Wire Transfer. I selected the courier delivery option and forwarded to the bank address(foreignremitt@halifaxbanksplc.com. Then i got the reply after three days that the prize money has been forwarded to Omnifreight courier express and i was asked to contact their e-mail address. I contacted themand i got the doubtful reply that the delivery charges should be given before the prize money is accepted. And there were three service options and different delivery charges for each one.(1.Express delivery-24hrs:Rs.20000 2)Courier Regular:3-4 days =Rs.15, 500 & 3)Courier Economy:5-6 days=Rs.11, 000. I selected the third option and i got the reply today that the money should be deposited in their ICICI account so that i will receive the courier within few days. I don't know exactly what to do. Is this fraud?
