SellYourCalculators Terrible company to deal with!

I found this website and decided to sell some of my old calculators. Everything I sent them was in a perfect condition.
I sent them three calculators and was supposed to get some money, but I never actually received anything. When I contacted SellYourCalculators they were not able to explain why was it taking so long and asked me to be patient. Terrible company to deal with!

SellYourCalculators They stole my calculators and my money

First, I was told online that I would receive over $70 for the two good condition calculators that I sold to Sell Your Calculators.com. When the check for my calculators finally came, it was only $53. Fine, perhaps they found some issues with the calculators, but $53 is certainly better than nothing.

I deposited this check only to find a few days later that the check had bounced. In addition I was charged a $10 fee by my bank for the fraudulent check. So, as it stands, this company took two of my graphing calculators and cost me $63.

SellYourCalculators customer service

My husband attempted to sell calculators at this site. The company contacted him and said our address was invalid. We checked the USPS website and our address showed up no problem. My husband wanted to cancel the order and decided to go with a different company. The owner, Justin, called him not long after, at 10:17 at night! He was argumentative and hostile. My husband was irritated that he was calling so late, and kept telling him how unprofessional he was being. Of course this made my husband mad. After several attempts to find out why he was calling so late, and attempts to tell him he found another company, the owner called him "a f-ing d*!K.". He then emailed my husband not 30 minutes later saying that he left of the "SE" when we entered the address. We NEVER enter the "SE" on our address and receive mail just fine. I didn't even enter it on the USPS website and guess what? USPS (which he said he checked against) showed our correct address. He is making a HUGE deal out of this, when the actual HUGE deal should be him calling my husband, a customer, by a foul name. We have since filed a complaint with the BBB and are going to warn all of our friends and family against this website
I am sure Justin will respond with an attempt to make me look like a competitor or the like but believe me, I am not. As a hard working parents and students we don't deserve to be treated this way. Ridiculous...

SellYourCalculators I will not be giving them a chance to screw me

I asked those people at calcswap on ebay (sellyourcalculators.com) how fast they could actually get the calculator in the mail and they gave me attitude to the question (BEFORE the sale!). I then searched and luckily found this and many other instances of how these people operate. I then asked them about the scam of how they buy.

They never denied the scam as described above by so many others, all they did was tell me how wonderful they are with so many feedbacks. The feedback says NOTHING about the way they get the calculators in the first place. It's a matter of character and integrity. Either you have it or you don't! It's not often you get to find out before you bought anything what the vendors character is like. If they will screw all those who have bothered to say anything (and who knows how many, others), why not me or you?

I can only guess how they might have acted if I had any problems after the sale. I will not be giving them a chance to screw me, you do as you see fit.

SellYourCalculators About a week after sending them the calculators, I was informed the best they could give me was 25 dollars instead of 84

I was told over the phone they were going to pay me 84 dollars each for two ti89 titaniums.

About a week after sending them the calculators, I was informed the best they could give me was 25 dollars each because they recently had an overstock of this same model.

If I wanted them back, I had to pay them 40 bucks in shipping, restocking, or other bull$#*! fee.

I payed their stupid fee, and got my calculators back. And now I will hold on to them like precious gems. Went to grad school and now I use them everyday.

and the calculators were all in excellent condition. Fully working. Keep your calculator or sell/give/trade it to a friend.

I am very unsatisfied with what I received for the $109 calculator I sent them, I didnt even get enough for a good burger in return.

Nothing wrong with at all, no stickers, names, scratches. I only used it on tests, during class I just used the grapher on my ipad. So I used the one I sent them like about a dozen days total.

But they are no different than the book store which sells you $200 bucks, and buys them back from you for $3 at semester end. Or game stop that sells you $40 games, and buys them back from you for $0.50.
Same deal with pawn shops.

The big differece is that if you feel insulted by the offers you get from your bookstore or game stop, you can just put away what you brought them and be on your way.

With these guys, you have to pay them to get your item back or you dont get them back period.

But I definetly admit getting jipped by them was entirely my fault, I should have seen the red flags. Wish I had found this site earlier.

I keep asking myself why I sent a calculator to some site hundreds of miles away hoping to get some money for it, when I am surrounded by potential buyers 24 seven in the dorm buildings!

My friends who were also done with financial classes simply sold their calculator on the first day of class by going to the math lecture hall before classes began and asking student by student if they wanted to buy it. They got $75 and $90 bucks for theirs, but the $90 bucks was for the silver edition not the regular 83 plus.

And me? By then, I had already spent what I received from sellyourcalculators.com at the parking meter that same day.

And I also want to apply this review to texas instruments, those calculators do not cost much to make now, you can already get a cheap tablet for 100 bucks, why is that their calculators which have not changed much in the last 20 years still cost 100+ bucks?

We never give quotes over the phone for we buy back 70+ calculators so it is impossible to remember all the prices. We always send the calculators back AT OUR EXPENSE if a client selects the wrong condition and does not accept the requote. It is standard practice and how we are so successful. If you have questions call us at 855-MY-CALCS [protected].

Hello,

I am Justin Supak the OWNER or www.SellYourCalculators.com. This is not even close to the truth. We send requotes if they are not as described and ALL clients have the option to decline the new offer in which case we send the calculators back for FREE at OUR EXPENSE or accept the new quote in which we pay right away. You can reach us at 855-MY-CALCS [protected]. We are guessing this is a competitor.

Totally,
I've heard nothing but complaints from fellow students who used such sites to get some money from calculators, particularly the more expensive graphing ones.

These sites often advertise in college newspapers, or some other media where students will see.

Basically the scam works like.
Instead of you selling the TI84 you don't need anymore to another student for a reasonable price (75 bucks or so)
these sites buy that students calculators for next to nothing
how?
They don't tell you what they will actually pay for your calculators, but their websites often make you think its more then what it will actually be. They make it easy for you to send them calculators paying for the shipping. Once they have them, they email you a list of BS Defects and use that as reasoning for paying some ridiculously low amount. If you want them back, typically you must pay some restocking fee, ship back, etc. - 40 bucks is usual from what I heard from some room mates

Then the sites will post that same calculator on online auction sites. where they will charge like 90 bucks for it.

The end the result, the seller student gets less, the buying student gets less, and the site gets more.

some of the ones I heard terrible news about are

Sellyourcalculators.com

SellYourCalculators They make you think like they are going to pay you a fair price for them, but then they low ball you when they physically have your calculators

I shipped four fully working calculators, all in near new condition. I paid about 120 each.

They told me over email that the best they could do was 3 bucks each because they did not work. I replied I wanted them back immediately. They told me that to ship them back to me, I would have to paypal them 25 shipping and 10 dollars handling!

Wtf.

They still have my calculators, I filed a complaint with the local BBB.

All they do is scam you out of your working calculators. They make you think like they are going to pay you a fair price for them, but then they low ball you when they physically have your calculators.

They of course later post them on ebay to continue these cycle of ripping off broke students!
