SecureNet Alarm Systems / Service Cancellation

1 MO, United States Review updated:

This company lead me to believe that I had canceled service when in fact it was only a suspension of service
that it was an auto renewal annual contract it can only be canceled by sending in a written form
It is a 12 month agreement without approval or contact for approval it is a clause in the original contract
They were notified to cancel but a written letter was not sent and they continue to hold us to an alleged contract
I no longer have their equipment
I have been threaten by them if I do not pay they will turn over for collections

You were probably in your renewal period before you contacted that company to suspend your service. So you would have been held to the remaining months of that renewal period even if you did not suspend your service. I used to work in the alarm industry and annual renewals are pretty common in the alarm industry. ADT will absolutely refuse to let you out of your renewal period even if you try to cancel a day to late. I have heard of SecureNet being quite lenient with their customers and their renewal periods though. Have you asked to speak to a manager or something to see if they would be willing to release you or at least explain everything to you?

You just have to read the agreements you sign no matter what type of service you have so that you know the proper cancellation procedure.

I moved to another State due to the fact that there was no work in Arizona. We moved to California for jobs and they do not provide service in California. We signed a 5 year contract and even though we no longer live in the home and no longer live in the state, we have to pay the annual fee but have no service AND we have to pay another service provider for our new home. If they had service in our new state, they said we could just get it switched. So NOW I pay them for a home that does not have service and that I do not use. I think they are a rip off
