My name is Donald Hayden, president and founder of Scienceuticals, and I am writing to address the alleged complaints listed on this board. For over a year I have elected to ignore them, mostly because I never gave them credence due to their lack of transparency and moreover, did not want to dignify the claims. But now the time has come to address them, since people clearly think they can anonymously post fictitious and libelous slander without recourse.
First and formost, we are NOT being investigated by ANY governing organization. This includes IRS, FDA, EPA or any of the others listed on this site. There has been no fraud or misleading of customers or of their products, nor are we a defendant in ANY litigation.
That being said, I will attempt to address the comments in general, as opposed to each one specifically, as they all seem to stem from the same thread of thought. The themes are of lawsuits, fraud, theft, bad product or bad service. While, we have never claimed to be a perfect, our goal has always been is to provide excellent products and service to our customers. Our current clients will attest to our desire and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty to accomplish this goal. However, I am sure there may have been unhappy customers, just like in any business, but nothing to the extent described here, and nothing we would not go out of our way to correct.
The anonymity of these posting is problematic. Most of these ‘customers’ claim to exist in places where we do not, and have not, done business. There are alleged customers from Sussex, England, Provo UT, X, NC, Columbia, SC, El Cerrito, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Kentucky and even Guatemala! We do not, and never have had customers is these locales. While they claim to have been treated badly, our company has had no contact or record of contact with any of them.
This can only lead me to the conclusion that they are posted strictly to bash our name and harm our reputation. If any one of these ‘customers’ posts their name and contact information, I will gladly contact them to discuss their issue, or they may contact me on my direct line at843-486-1002 ext 112.
I truly believe that these postings are by former disgruntled employees.. Over the past 5 years we have experienced explosive growth and, like many companies, we have felt growing pains. It is unfortunate that during this period we had high turnover as we refined the business model and searched for the ideal team. Now these former employees are trying to exact some revenge for being let go.
Clearly, we would not be in business for 5 years had there been any truth to these claims. I am proud of the business I have built and how we treat our customers, and employees, as well as how we conduct ourselves in the business community. We have created many award winning and highly successful products for our clients and will continue to do so.
I encourage people to view credible, authored, third party information on the web like our Silver Crest Award for manufacturing in SC or The Small Business Commerce Association (SBCA) announcement that Scienceuticals, Inc. has been selected for the 2009 Best of Business Award in the Cosmetic preparations category. In these cases, there are legitimate names and sources behind the references.

Read carefully. Don doesn't own Scienceuticals anymore
Anyone interested, Scienceuticals is dead. Dorchester County seized all the property including all the records, clients and employee contracts from Don and sold it at auction. He owns nothing but the debt.
If any debt collectors are looking for Don, he now lives at 33 Cannon Street, Charleston, SC 29401 in downtown. It is still technically downtown but in the ghetto. He is 3 blocks from Crisis Ministrys.
He doesn't own the company anymore. So many people are now suing him that he will never be able to run a business again.
It gets even worse. A client has forged emails and a forged Certificate of Analysis that Don sent her. The SC Attorney Generals Office has agreed to investigate Don for that reason. I hear people are getting interviewed by the investigators this week.

The Truth is Don Hayden is a dishonest crook who will twist the truth in order to make a sale. He lies constantly and is barely hanging on to his business.
Several weeks ago he fired the last person with any Chemistry experience. Now it is just him (he has a business degree) and 2 kids who don't even have GED's. He is no longer testing the products for micro but still charging for it.
One thing all over the internet is the fact he likes to tell people he has in-house micro. That is not true. It was found out that the system he bought was not approved for Cosmetics.
Anyone who uses Scienceuticals is foolish. The whole building is infected with mold (look in the complaints, that is why creams get moldy). The whole building has "Sick Building syndrome." Look that up on Wikipedia. Also, Don doesn't use Distilled Water, even though he charges clients almost a dollar a pound for water. He uses city water and heats it. THIS DOES NOT STERILIZE THE WATER. Look it up, the water must be heated to boiling or heated under pressure. Even this doesn't remove the minerals. Detergents especially are affected by high mineral count. Scienceuticals doesn't test foaming (there is a standard test) so he is making ineffective shampoos.
The warehouse is a joke. Most of the product is expired and has not been recertified. In fact, one big client, Insight Pharmaceuticals owns most of the stock. I wonder if they know that Don Hayden has listed it for resale on www.Chemdeals.com? Do a search Insight! Don is trying to sell your property! This is criminal!
Look out Argan Organics! Don made your last product with infected honey and said it didn't matter! Then he never tested your product! Don't believe me? Ask for your micro!
I have all this from a good source. Up until a few weeks ago a good friend of mine worked there. He was fired because he rejected a Baby Cradle Cap product as too thin! Don first banned him from the floor even though he was the QA person and in charge of QC. Then he made all sorts of things up to justify firing him. That person was the only person keeping clients there and he is a good person. I spoke with him yesterday and he was granted unemployment so I guess he did nothing wrong.
Also, Don is not incorporated in any state! He told us 6 months ago that he was incorporated in Nevada for tax purposes. Nevada has him is a suspended status. I called myself! He has no physical plant there (Reno never happened) so they won't incorporate him in Nevada. He is unincorporated, his credit rating is bad, he has been evicted from his house downtown and had to move in with his girlfriend. The "factory" has no A/C. Lexington Plastic Surgeons, look at your cream seperating. I heard Don left it in the heat and it is breaking down.
Don has fired all the people who knew what they were doing. I hear that SC is investigating him for using illegal aliens. He would pick them up at Stall Road every morning. He stopped doing any packaging QC paperwork. He stopped sanitizing the tanks between batches. There is no SOP there anymore. Ambe Aesthetics, he never tested your powders for SPF but he charged you for it Argan, he uses water instead of the expensive botanical extracts. PCA Skincare, the last product he made had no PCA!
I worked for Don almost 2 years ago and I can tell you that he is s a crook. I heard all this from another friend who got it directly from another ex-employee. The other ex-employee is ethical and well trusted by the clients. Don, have you told anyone that he is gone or are you still lying like you did when the last Chemist left? I feel sorry for anyone dumb enough to work for him. I emailed the last Chemist when he started, but I bet Don told him that I was lying. I bet he knows better now!
I worked for Don almost 2 years ago but I still hear what is happening. There are better manufacturers. Find a better manufacturer on the HAPPI index. Do a credit check. Don owes almost 250, 000 and can't get credit. He isn't liquid enough to buy the chemicals outright. That is why there is such a long wait for product! Listen to what all these people said and be conservative. If you are in Charleston, just use Royal Labs. They are a better lab all around.
Funny how Don Hayden's business is listed for sale currently. I really hope no one is stupid enough to buy anything from him. He likes to leave ingredients out of products because he has so many bad relationships with the raw material suppliers.
