My complaint refers to non-payment by Schmidt Quality Construction, Inc. 1001 Curtiss St.

Downers Grove, IL 60515 Office: [protected] If you are a freelance artist, stay away from Schmidt Quality Construction, Inc. of Downers Grove, Illinois.
At the beginning of 2007 I was hired by Schmidt Quality Construction as a freelance artist to design and deliver two different print ads for two publications for $400 ea. The ads were approved, delivered on time, and were printed. I have copies of the two directories that published them. Schmidt never paid me for my services. Instead they tried to get me to do more design work for them. Uh, "fool me twice is bad enough, but three times? No way.
They never return phone calls. They always have an excuse for everything like, "your payment was sent to the wrong address" and "our accounting department lost your files" and "your check is in the mail" etc., etc.
I have a pile of emails from multiple people at their company praising my work and promising me payment. BE WARNED - Schmidt Quality Construction doesn't pay their bills. Well, not unless you are their cell phone company, car dealership, gas station, grocery store, etc.
I fully expect to see a posting from their company in response to my legitimate complaint, revising history, and somehow blaming me for their repeatedly hiring me, repeatedly using my graphic designs, repeatedly promising payment, then just ignoring the invoices, emails, and phone calls for almost a year now.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Someone needs to find out where these people are moving to - I want my money back!
They also put adds on career builder looking for carpenters - Well to make a long story short... if you enjoy working for "FREE" apply for a job and you will always be told the check is in the mail... the Downers Grove post office doesn't know how to sort mail so it takes 10 days for a check to be delivered... we never received your email with your hours worked... if you haven't received your check yet it will take us 3 days to put a stop payment on the check before we can re-issue another check...
If you are seeking employment with pay DO NOT WORK FOR SCHMIDT QUALITY CONSTRUCTION!
I completely agree. Beware of working with Schmidt Quality Construction. They bought our services for 1 quarter and didn't pay the invoice. They claimed that it was an Accounting mistake and there were new people in the department that misplaced the invoice. Shame on me for believing this! I felt bad and we tried negotiating their continued use of our services, but they claimed they didn't have the money. I had the option of keeping the services going for free and writing it off if I felt they need more time to pay.
Long story short, they don't return calls and have been activitely using our services and I was foolish enough to just notice it. They exploit other companies and if you are considering working with them STAY AWAY.
