Santander Consumer USA payment plan

Santander took over for hsbc this year for my auto loan, and due to unemployment I have been trying to get my payments put onto a workout plan. I spoke to someone a week ago who said they could work out a deal cutting my interest rate and reducing payment, but was informed today that that plan was "rejected" and if I don't make payment today I will lose my vehicle. The girl on the phone, germita (Sp?) was antagonistic and would not transfer me to a supervisor or even another rep. I've worked in different forms of customer service for 10+ years and she is the worst i've ever heard, which seemed to make her argue more. It's hard to imagine a company that wants to make money off of you doing such a poor job of communicating with their customer, let alone having "collections agents" who don't have the ability to talk on an even level with people.

Welcome to the world of collections! These peole SUCK though I agree...we are only 1 month behind and today I received an email saying Thank you for authorizing a payment and a confirmation number...WHAT? I never authorized any payment, so I called and Valerie said they could not tell where the payment was authorized or who did it, then called back today to speak with superviser, Maria (totally rude) said she could not transfer me to a supervisor, they were NOT AVAILABLE. It is funny you can NEVER speak to one ;) So I told them I would not be making a payment tomorrow till they clear this up, they did not care to say the least. Funny thing is they will not get the payment they WRONGFULLY are trying to take out of our acct. because I put a freeze on it and I am closing the acct today. We are filing this as fraud...Thank Goodness I caught the email in time!

Wow this is like reading my own story. I had a loan through HSBC also. At no point was I told the loan was being sold. That upset me. I had no problems dealing with HSBC. I am so angry right now. I have fallen behind in my payments however since Jan 2010 I have paid them over 2000.00 I have been trying to get something to them everyweek. This was not good enough the other day I got a letter saying they were going to repo my car if payment arrangements were not made. Now mind you I have spoken to them on so many ocasions always someone different and ALWAYS a different story pay this amount and we will do this pay this amount and we can do this I have done everything asked of me and they have done nothing they rejected reducing my payments and they said I could not defer payments because the state of ohio does not allow payments to be added to the end of a loan. I have not found anything on this yet. When I got the repo letter I had already scheduled a payment of 201.17 to come out on Thursday when I called and told them this the man was so rude he proceded to tell me that it was not enough and they needed money now. He kept reminding me that I broke a promise that I made to pay something a couple of weeks earlier which I had a emergency and could not do it. He reminded me of that at least 3 times. Well to make a long story short he proceded to tell me I had to pay more in order to stop the repo so I have to take my food money for this week and pay them more money on Friday. And I also told them i would have another payment made by the 11th of next month. I made these arrangements yesterday and today I received 3 phone calls from them saying they were calling me to remind me about the arrangement made I told them they don't have to call me but this person proceded to say the phone calls will not stop until the payments have been made. I am tired of being threatened and bullied by these people I don't know what to do. Once I make my next payment I will be caught up I hope it stops these calls. Any suggestions are welcome they are making my life miserable along with all the other bill collectors that are calling I don't know where to turn anymore. Thanks for listening.

My car loan was originally with HSBC and this stupid company took over my loan...I offered to pay my loan off for the principal balance and they have refused and said that they do not make deals. My principal balance is $1, 927.14 and with late charges and fees of $1, 546.68 for a total of $3, 473.82. I offered them $2, 000.00 to pay the car off and they will not take the offer. I just don't understand this. I will be googling to find out who the head of this place is so that I can talk to them directly and find out what exactly I can do to get this taken care of. I don't want the car so it may come down to me telling them to come get it...I really don't care at this point...Heck I may even tell the scrap yard to come get the car..I really don't care...

This is EXACTLY what happened to my son in the past week. They told him if he didn't pay half the balance $2500, by the end of the week he would loose his car. They would not let him make payment arrangements and they said the need the remainder in 10 days. I don't know where else he can turn to. Making the $2500, which he borrowed from me (after I took a loan) would actually catch his car payments up. He has been out of working and attempting to make payments but since they took over from HSBC they have been nothing but harrassing and unwilling to work out a payment plan.

Santander Consumer USA unfair practices

If anyone is interested in the companies Santander uses for repo and auction here are some sites that might help when getting information. One is for the auction houses I'm sure many lenders use.

Santander Consumer USA title

On april 12th, 2010 at 1pm, a final payment santander for payment of a car loan.

These funds were received the organization within minutes of having completed this transaction at the money gram office used that day. The use of money gram was as a result of instructions given to me earlier that day by a santander agent over the phone.

A call was made to santander that afternoon after 4pm.
It was then verified by a santander agent that the funds had been received.

Today is april 27th, 2010.

It has now been 15 days since the receipt of these funds by santander.
These funds were for the purpose of satisfying the remaining outstanding balance of the loan.

As of yet, the title to the vehicle associated with this account, a 2003 ford expedition, has not been received, and is still being held up by santander.

If an auto loan is paid off using money gram, the money is considered certified.

Again, wire transfers are a form of certified funds. When you transfer money it is paid upfront. Therefore, the money is guaranteed which makes it certified.

According to their your own web page, rules, policies, and regulations;

http://www.triadfinancial.com/customers/customer_faq_ques.aspx
(found two thirds down this web page, under your section on title questions)
If your auto is paid off with certified funds - the title is requested to be mailed five days from the posted date.

These fund posted on april 12, 2010.
Certified funds were sent.
The title was supposed to have been mailed out 5 days later.
The title should have arrived 11 days ago.

There has not been any reasonable explanation as to why this title is still being held up santander.

I requested that this title be expedited immediately, over and over and over again.
As of this posting.
I have been completely ignored.

Santander Consumer USA wanting more payment car paid off

I paid my loan off on my 2001 nissan that was first financed through triad finance. I received a notice that santander was taking over and that my payments would be made to this company. Fine, I was on auto-payment and was not to concerned until... I paid the last payment in march 2010, and was expecting my title at least within 6 weeks of last payment. But, no, I get a phone call stating that I still owed $188.00, and I asked why. Stated that there was just a half of a payment made, and I reminded them that I was on auto-pay, so how could that happen. Was told they would look into it, it has been over two week, and received call, still stating I owed the money. I informed them that I was told someone was looking into the situation and would call me back. Yeah, right. I sent a letter over a month ago, asking about this, but no reply and after reading all the other complaints against this company I can see why. I sure hope this mess gets straightened out for everyone concerned as it is a real headache.

The reason you owe more than the scheduled payment is because of Simple Interest Financing. Your payments were calculated on being received ON or BEFORE the due date. If your payments were made after the due date … then additional interest would have accrued on your account. Plug your numbers into an amortization table. You will see how the payments would have been applied if you made all the payments on time. If ONE payment is paid later … then it throws off the whole table.
I would suggest that you pay it ASAP .. as interest is still accruing. I my days of working in auto collections .. I have seen people who owed much more at the end of the loan.

Hope this Helps

Santander Consumer USA giving me huge run around

I work for a car delaership in wny. I have been trying for weeks to get a lien release for a vehicle and I am getting major run around from both hsbc & santander.

I talk to santander, who tells me to call hsbc, so I do only to be informed by hsbc that auto finance no longer exists & they give me a number for santander. This is absolutely ridiculous!

I am thinking of going to the better business bureau on both banks. I don't know if they will be able to help, but it's worth a shot right?

Santander Consumer USA zero card

I have repeatedly been charged interest on the zero card though I have always paid promptly and never exceeded my limit. Though the sums are not vast, multiplied by all who use this card and do not detect this extra cost santander are making a huge, illicit profit. I raised this by phone with santander twice and was met with rudeness and indifference. I wrote to them a month ago and have received no reply. Do check your santander statements very carefully.9397b

Santander Consumer USA company drags feet on payoff quote

Hsbc turned over my autoloan to santandar. I had read some bad reviews about this company, so I refinanced with a local credit union. The credit union had the paperwork done in a matter of a few days. Now, do you think santandar could deliver on a pay-off quote? A snow ball in * would have a better chance. Get this, the first customer service said she'd put in the request, and it would be faxed to credit union with 24-48 hours. Two days later, I called, and that customer service (a misnomer) said 3-5 days, for sending a fax quote so they could be paid off! So now we moving on 7 days and no pay-off quote yet. Now I wonder how much money they're making off all those good customers who ask for such customer service. I would think that if you multiplied the number of days they drag their feet on a pay-off quote from all their their clients, that it would turn out to be quite a bit of money, don't you think. This kind of practice and others i've read about has to taken on by the bbb and the federal government to regulate these institutions. But isn't capitalism wonderful...

Santander Consumer USA power of attorney refusal

When presented with a power of attorney at the ortley beach, nj office to handle my elderly parent's affairs, I was refused service. This power of attorney is on file in the woodbridge, nj office. After speaking with my attorney, colleen barlowski, the bank employee with a desk behind glass doors, refused to give me the name and address of sovereign bank's legal counsel. She didn't know, even though she speaks with them all of the time. She gave me the name of kori kaldor, whom she seeks legal advice from, but doesn't know if kori is an attorney or not.

Santander Consumer USA attempted larceny-suggested course of action

This company has repeatedly attempted to take money from my checking account after being advised on a daily basis that the withdraws were never authorized. Additionally, I was forced to close my bank account because they simply changed the name of the financial services from santander to pinnacle and still attempted to take the funds they were not authorized to take. Additionally, this company refuses to give me a true and accurate payoff quote so I can transfer the loan to a reputable company. I have contacted my elected officials in my area and was advised to contact the federal trade commission and file a formal complaint. They do not handle individual complaints; however, they do take complaints to determine patterns of behavior. If they detect patters of illegal or unethical business practices, they can then take appropriate action through investigations, fines and other actions. Additionally, I have filed a complaint with the north carolina attorney general's office in an attempt to get their license to practice business and their bonding to practice financial matters in nc be revoked. Also, I was assured by frank airehart [protected]) [protected]@santanderconsumerusa.com that he would handle this matter and have it resolved. Again, I was blatantly lied to and rather than fix their attempted larceny on their end, they tried to circumvent the protections on the account (again forcing me to close an account i've had with not problems until this company became involved). Additionally, cindy pena in their customer service department admitted (on a recorded converstation) that santander consumer usa did in fact attempt to take two unauthorized withdrawls from my banking account.

Again, if you have had similar problems with this company, file complaints with both your state ag's office and the ftc. Only through making complaints to these agencies will a true spotlight be shone on their ciminal behaviors.

I closed my checking acount so that this wouldn't. I too, was never notified, just started getting voicemails from this compnay, but they never disclosed why they were calling me. I still haven't called them, and won't. just received my first bill from them. Never told by Citi Financial Auto that they sold my loan to another company. You would think that big banks like Citi, HSBC, etc. would research who they sell their loans to.

I feel your pain, I have been dealing with this disreputable, unethical, foreign-owned company since they took over HSBC Auto's accounts. The very first month, they didn't credit my account after cashing my check sent via Online Bill-pay. I have sent proof of payment several times, but they continue to call me and threaten to ruin my credit even though I have sent the written notification to cease communications and proof of invalidity of their claim of not payment.

Their 30 days to correct my account and credit report expires in a few more days. At that time I will be submitting complaints to both the FTC and NC Attorney Gen. Off. for at least the illegal collection calls.

For anyone else out there who is having problems with this company, follow the procedures prescribed in the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act (which Santander seem to willfully ignore even after being informed that they are in violation of it.) and file a complaint as necessary. They seem to have no compunction against using strong-arm and illegal tactics to collect money that is not due them and to put long time customers who have been in good standing in default. It's time to play hardball, too.

My online check register listed my available balance as $849.62 - and they charged me 5 funds unavailable fees. So yes, they are fraudulent. I waited 4 days after my deposit to pay online bills - each one went through with a new balance total. Everything looked fine for two days until 5 lines of these charges. I called to say they had made a mistake and was told they have the funds available to me at their discretion. I printed out my online statements which clearly shows it as 'available balance' Truly terrible way to treat an account holder. Core States did the same sort of thing years ago and look where it got them. Just a matter of time for Sovereign. Last time I checked, 3 of the 5 local branches were closed. YAY!

Santander Consumer USA bad customer service

I have been paying for my car on time, never late, for over 3 years. Right now, my area is snow bound. I can not afford the fees, so I mail my payments in.

I requested consideration to pay by phone and have the fee waived, because I have never paid late. Guess what... No consideration. Being a good customer counts for nothing.

My original loan was not even through santander. They bought it out. Go figure. When I get done with this loan, they do not have to worry about me as a customer ever again. If they buy out any other of my loans, they will have to take the car.

Santander Consumer USA the worst customer service ever!

Within the past year or so soverign bank was bought out by santander consumer usa. Having had a lean on my car with sovereign, I was grandfathered into being a customer at santander. My contract with sovereign did allow me to have a 10 day grace period on my payments. That also rolled over when the bank was bought out by this new company.
Within the past week I received a phone call from santander, missed the call and called right back. I immediately asked the operator who got my call why I was getting a phone call about my payment if I was well within my grace period. She told me that this was part of their policy. I then told her I had mailed out my check 3 days prior to the call and that they should be recieving payment any day. She then advised me that she did show that they recieved my check and that there was some error code showing on my account letting her know that there was some information that I had not filled out on the check making it so that they would not be able to cash my check. I asked her what info was missing and she said she did not have access to view my check. I then asked her, "so you're not going to be able to cash that check then correct?" and her response was, no we cannot. I then decided to use the pay by phone option which I knew would cost about $10 extra but figured it would be worth it so that my payment would not go late if I were to mail out another check. I received a confirmation number after I gave her my debit card info and saw that it was almost immediately deducted from my bank account.
Two days later, I noticed that my bank account was at a negative balance which to me was impossible because I keep very good track of my transactions through my check register. I looked into and realized that they did in fact cash my so called "incomplete check". I was able to view my check online through my financial institution and there was nothing that was incomplete about it. I immediately called the 888 number and explained what had happened to a customer service rep. To try to shorten up all of the trouble that I went through I ended speaking with a total of 6 different customer service reps plus a supervisor in which I was getting different stories from all. There was absolutely no sympathy from any of the 7 representatives that I spoke with within the company.
I work at a call center myself and know that when calls are recorded there are calls that can be pulled. I asked the supervisory to pull the call so he would have proof right there of what happened during the very first conversation when I was mis-informed. He told me that this would have to go through an investigative department which would take about 3 - 5 business days.in the mean time, I had gotten hit with 2 seperate overdraft fees from my financial institution because of this situation. I faxed over a copy of my bank statement to the accounting department at santander (which is what I was told to do by the supervisor) which showed the overdraft fees. He also said it would take a few days for the acounting department to review it.in the mean time I still have a negative balance in my account and other bills set up to be automatically deducted within the next week.
To sum this all up I have refinanced my loan through my own financial institution and will say that I will never ever do any kind of banking or apply for any loans with santander ever again. I've never had such a bad experience with "customer service" reps speaking over me, being rude and short with me, having other conversations with employees as I was talking, and having no sense of urgency for a mistake that they made!

My HSBC auto loan was transitioned over to Santander with ease. But the nightmare started when trading in my vehicle. The dealerships finance dept paid-off the balance and I had requested Santander to cancel my automatic payments. But Santander continued to charge me for a vehicle I did not own. Customer service people seem foreign-based, scripted, and very difficult to understand. They refused to help me until they received a fax of my bank statement and a written letter. Ultimately, I had to request a stop-payment with my bank and dispute it while incurring a fee from the bank.

Can this company be the WORST!. I spoke with Antonio Sutton ( Front End Manager), at least this time I was given a last name. I was actually told that everyone is on a first name basis. Needless to say, I dont know how he got this position but he should be FIRED. I have never spoken with so many associates who dont have a clue. Why offer online payments if a so called manager cannott give you adequate answers to your questions. Everytime I call this company it takes three calls to get it resolved. I don't know how this company stays in business. They SUCK!

This company took over drive financal and I didn't have any problems with them at first. I've been with them for about 2 years. I have just ran into some financial problems due to a job loss. I have always been on time with my payments and I am getting ready to start a new job hopefully soon! But anyways I called them to ask if we could work something out about my car payment for this month at first the guy I talked to couldn't understand him said I could make a partial payment. I agreed and then called back a week later and stated that I wouldn't be able to make that payment is there anything else I can do they were so rude! they told me there was nothing they could do for me. I told the lady i talked to that I haven't been late at all and I am not even due for my car payment yet and that I am trying to take care of this before it's due. She just kept saying is there anything else I can do for you? I got so mad I hung up on her. How rude can people be? Something has got to be done about those people. And hey did anyone notice when you call them it says there a debt collection agency?

My account was paid to current and I was told by Danielle and Tina Campbell that my car loan qualified for a remodification and my payment would reduce and interest rate reduced. So I did every thing they asked over and over again and 59 days later they have still not done what they agreed too. I am sooo sick of them. I call the supervisor and leave messages and faxes and letters with no avail. Santandar is not honorable and lacks professionals with integrity.

I agree! HSBC never informed me that they were switching to a new company. I received a letter in the mail instead when I was in constant communication with HSBC. I have a dispute with HSBC now Santander and they are HORRIBLE customer service people. I spoke to seven different people as wall as an ignorant supervisor that talks right over you. They took two payments out of my bank account without my prior approval and I got hit with two insufficent funds. Now they won't give me back the money or the insuffiencent funds because of thier ridiculous tactics. I told them to give me proof that I authorized payments either in writing on voice. He couldn't prove it...instead he yelled and said go contact your lawyer. "We are not giving you back the money. There is nothing I can do for you."

I'm in the process of switching new place because they are beyond shady in thier business practice. I'm also contacting a lawyer and filling a claim with the BBB.

Recently HSBC Auto sold my and my husbands loan to Santander and I am not happy at all. I've tried on SEVERAL occasions to make my payment online to which they state that I am already set up under HSBC and that I would need to make a new password. I can't even get into their systems to make up a new password.
So upon calling the 888 number I get the run around telling me I have to file a complaint with their customer service and within 72 hours SOMEONE will get back to me. We'll see on that.
So because I couldn't make my payment online I opted to make it over the phone at a $15 charge. They would not waive the $15.00 fee. Whatever...so I advised the women that my payment is due on the 22nd of every month and that sometime I do not get paid until a couple of days later. She advised me that it is Santander's practices to CALL YOU IF YOU ARE 1 DAY LATE! That is bologne. HSBC gave me a 10 day grace period.
Shame on you Santander Consumer...your practices are not only immoral but down right shady!

Omg! I had sovereign as well and ever since this company (based in MEXICO) took over, I've had nothing but trouble. They send me bills saying I'm missing half a payment, my payoff is MORE than my remaining balance and just the other day I made a payment got the confirmation number and the next day they call telling me I didn't pay! Well thankfully I gave them the confirm # and they found it... BUT the rep set it to be processed the day after it would be 30 days late and it wouldve messed my credit up! I'm going to reapply for this car loan with a different company ASAP! They're HORRIBLE and majority of the employees are GHETTO! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

Santander Consumer USA customer service representatives

Santander consumer usa customer service representatives need to take a customer service representatives course. They are rude and unprofessional. No matter what the situation is customers are always right and you should go out of your way to listen to them and try to help the customer. Santander consumer usa has shown their unprofessionalism toward customers who are in good standing with their loans. My loan was switched to santander in september or october of 2009 and I did not receive notice of this switch until late december early january sometime. I am not pleased with santander consumer usa.

I called 'payment arrangements' for Citi Financial Auto and was shocked when I was transferred to Santander Consumer! I've NEVER heard of them before last week. 9/8/2010 I spoke to "Renaldo" asked to defer a payment. He said it was subject to "manager's approval" and tried to arrange an "alternate arrangement" with me. I insisted he pass it on to his manager, and he said to call back in 1-2 days. Appalled, I called back 2 days later 9/10/2010 and the woman I spoke with tried to arrange and "alternate arrangement" with me. I insisted on speaking with the manager whose name was "Carl". I explained to Carl that we are BOTH on LIMITED DISABILITY income, and we used the truck payment in an emergency to get BOTH Brakes and BOTH Rotors replaced. (Both brake pads turned out to be paper-thin rusty sheets!) He seemed to have trouble comprehending what I told him, although his English was excellent. To my dismay, Carl put me on 'hold' to 'see' if any deferrals were available. (As if it was a QUANTITY decision, when it was a matter of QUALITY customer service, which he was seemingly NOT TRAINED in!) He came back to the phone and told me there were NO deferrals available. He then tried to offer me the SAME
"alternative arrangement" the previous 2 agents offered! **This "alternative arrangement" is to make the payment next month! This would be a "double payment" and it is impossible for someone like us on fixed income to accept!** (In thought to myself:) After telling Carl I can barely afford 1 payment, what makes him think I can afford 2 payments? I let out a sigh, and informed him I did NOT like the "alternative arrangement." He said to "call closer to the due date" to make payment arrangements. (As if to get out of being flustered!)

From what I understand, Santander customer service reps and collectors are paid very very poorly and the working conditions are poor as well. Given that, there is near zero incentive for the reps to alter their behavior. Santander probably doesn't care as long as their labor costs are low. The only way go get something done is to bug the higher ups there, since it's clear the rank and file employees are unable and unwilling to do anything better...and the managers are there only to keep the employees in line.

Just horrible. I made an on line payment for $218.00 on June 23rd and printed out my confirmation. I called customer service the next day and spoke to representative who confirmed my payment of $218.00 was scheduled for June 25th. Today I checked my Santader account and saw that my account was charged $318.00 dollars instead of the 218.00 I requested. I called customer service and when I asked for an explanation the customer service representative became very rude and started screaming. I asked to speak to her supervisor who was even ruder. I told the woman that I had a print out that verified my payment of $218.00. She told me she couldn't do anything about it and it was my fault and she didn't care. I asked her again why an extra $100.00 was taken from my account and she started screaming at me and hung up. These people are just horrible and the company that employs them is even worse and is dishonest and should be fined for its fraudulent practices.

Santander Consumer USA poor practices

Within the past two years, we used a product from a company as a temporary solution to buy a truck. It was a high interest loan which we intended to refinance. With the current economic conditions, loss of employment etc. We were not able to refinance that loan.in addition, I have recently been deployed to iraq. Under the soldiers and sailors debt protection act we requested that the interest be reduced to the six percent as conditioned underneath that act. Santander has flatly refused to do so.in addition, customer service was unecessarily rude with my wife when she called to follow up on a letter that santander felt uncompelled to answer. We have made approx. 24 payments each and every payment on time or prior to the date it was due. At some point I would think that santander would view us as a good customer. Way to go santander and a outstanding job backing your country.

Actually, Sandander customer service is in Texas. So is the auto division. They recently bought HSBC's auto divison, which was in NY, I think.
Anyway, it doesn't matter where the company is... If they do business in the United States, they must adhere to all Federal and State regulations.
However, I believe the Sailors Act (SSCRA) only pertains to a mortgage on a primary dwelling, rent if payment is less than 1200, and credit cards. It also delays action on certain civil processions, such as foreclosure, bankruptcy, or divorce

Also, the spouse may still be held liable for the debt.

To learn more about these or other provisions of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act, contact your unit or installation legal assistance office.

Santander Consumer USA customer service

Santander bought my car loan from another bank. Although payments were up to date there was a late fee from previous late payment. I tried to pay this twice, the second time it was done to their request (being certain time in the month, clearly labled "late fee") made multiple phone calls to resolve the issue of incorrect allocation of money that should have been put towards late fee. I submitted a request to have fund reallocated. My request was denied.
The disturbing part was the unprofessionalism - being put on infinte hold after asking for a supervisor, misrepresentation (as supervisors) when identifying themselves, and worst was updating my account contact information with their caller id... They called my friend's house (who previously allowed me to use her land line) looking for a payment - that was already paid! How unprofessional!

I submitted a payment via a check and no one seems to know where the check or the payment went. The amount of the check was taken out of my banking account. I was told I had to submitt a copy of the check for verification. I have faxed them this information 3 times and was told they have no way to verify that this was sent. The accounting department handles this and it is no way to get in touch with them AND I WILL HAVE TO WAIT until they get to it. This has been going on for 2 mths. Santander continue to call and harrass me for a payment and has threaten to repo my vehicle even thou they cant find a payment or have any interst in doing so. When i call to speak with someone about this issue everyone is so rude and obnoxious and not willing to help resolve the issue

It seems I'm in the same ship as most of you. I had my car loan with HSBC Auto and then suddenly one day I'm getting calls from Santander. I fell behind on my car loan by 45 days due to being diagnosed with Leukemia and spending some time in the hospital. I have been dealing with Santander for about 4 months now. I am really confused as to how they come up with the amount of CASH owed on my account. I made a payment every 60 days for 2 months straight and then made 2 payments within one month. From my calculations, I should be caught up. I went to the website and it showed I was 31 days past due, then a week later, it said 63 days past due. It additionally showed my normal payment amount and then over $2, 100 in "FEES". I have no thought what this is. To make matters worse, they continually call me at work. I have advised them that I cannot receive personal calls and to stop. I additionally said this was opposed to the FDCA and I would file a complaint, yet they continue to call at work. I additionally get several calls a day on my cell. The last straw was they called my father last week. Oliver Davila told him that he was looking for me and left a number. He then questioned my father if he was hiding my Jeep at his house. My father said "No, you can come check if you'd like". My father then called me upset and he has a heart condition. I called Santander and spoke with a Supervisor and told her I would be filing a complaint and to never call my father for a second time and upset him. She informed me that my father must be lying because they would have never said that to him. I am at the end of my rope with these people. I will be taking the advice of others and filing complaints with the FTC, my attorney general, and my congressman. I urge all of you to do the same.

My collector car loan with Sovereign Bank was acquired by Santander. These people are the worst customer service outfit you could be involved with. ALL my online account information is incorrect and they don't know how to fix it. Their customer service is over-seas and obviously was low bidder for the contract. They haven't been able to send monhtly statements or email notices so you have to remember to make your payment. And if you want to pay online or over the phone you are charged a significant service fee. Most of their loans come from dealers and other companies so be careful and find out who the loan is being placed with. If it is Santader... run away!

I would not reccomend this company to anyone! If a dealership offers this to people that have fair-poor credit DONT use it! We had 3 occasions were they cashed checks and then NEVER posted them to the account all 3 times I had to fax in copies of the cashed checks and threaten them with an attorney to do anything! Very poor customer service! Then when I traded the vehicle in they sent my overpayment to the dealership that we bought our different vehicle through! That dealership had never heard of any company doing that before!

I have never been involved with such a group of liars in my entire life.
Santander Consumer USA, does not deserve to have the USA behind their name at all.
They are as the crooks of olden times, smile in your face and stab your back with a smile.
In my opinion every employee in that company should be ashamed to cash their paychecks,
they agree with that companies policies. That is a sad state of affairs.
I have been led on for over 26 days re a deferrment on my payment based on medical situation.
Now, I find out, no there will be no deferrment..well...okay, but they knew this, 26 days ago.
Had they just been honest with me and said "No, we are unable to do this", I would have said "thank you
for your time and goodbye". But no, I was lied to, I was talked down to.
I work hard at my job to pay these sub-humans their pay, as they surely slide/slime their way out of
that building to their cars/homes.
God has a way of taking care of his Children, I am a child of God, All Mighty, He will take this wrong and turn it
around for His good, I know that, I trust my faith in God.
So, Santander, you are not hurting me, you have brought God Almighty down to you.
Stop lying to your customers, treat them with respect as human beings and bring your hearts to the altar
for God.

Thank you,

Blessings,
Teresa

I had an account with Citifinancial and Santander Consumer took over the account. The service was horrible and one lady was nice in the beginning and i decided to tell the manager how good her service was...Well to my dismay she seem to careless about the compliment and hung up the phone. I was blown away. I had to make several calls to them and all i got was horrible service. I was beside my self and decided to 'REFINANCE' with a local credit union. I know have a lower finance rate from 12% with Citifinancial now to a 7% with the credit union and my credit score aint the best either. I have never been late on my car payment and i refused to give my hard earn money to these ridiculous, rude people. If you can get out...refinance your loan with another company who would appreciate your business. Im so Done with Santander.

I got a loan for my car from hsbc. Hsbc sold my loan to santandar. I could not keep up the payments due to reduced income and my car was repo'd. When I called santandar to get my possions back, meka from santandar said I had to pay to get back my money and personal possitions. I told her I paid to retrieve my car but she said I had to pay for any personal possion I had left in the car and I had to pay for storage of the car which came out to $250.00 + the 500.00 I had in the car this come to a sum of 750.00 I will be out of. This is not including personal material I had in it. So in toltal to get my car back I will have paid $1650.00

We had a car loan from this agency. Right from the start, I received phone calls stating that my payments were behind, but I had made them on time from a credit union account. Santander said they never received them, even when I provided proof from my credit union that they had sent the payments. They repeatedly called my cell phone, references, and my employment even after telling them that I could not receive these kind of calls at work. I emailed them and sent a certified written letter. Please do not take out a loan with this agency- it is BAD NEWS!

I don't know what the deal is with Santander. We went through a bankruptcy and Santander let us pick any car we wanted. Interest was low compared to other banks. We had a problem with the first payment(gave wrong info by mistake) and the payment was denied. We fell 3 days behind before we realized what happened. We got it figured out and Santander was EXCELLENT! They were very nice over the phone and even waived the $10.95 Processing fee. It's been six months now and have yet to have any problems with them. Everytime we call them with a question they are curtious and will try to answer your questions. My last auto loan was with M&T with a 720+ credit score and we had more problems with them than we have with Santander.

Since this company was handed over to them from (Citiautofinancial) it has beena night mare.. From customer service to payments. Every time I tried to call them and ask why was I being charge a late fee for 4 months (Ever since I got them) which calculates to the 4 months late fees.. They put me on hold.. And when I tell them since you guys say you record every conversation then go back to the prior conversations and fights that I have had with your company.. I get no answer.. I hate this company now my nect step is the buissness buerue.. And see how they explain the late fees.. And how im getting charge additional 10.95 added to my account! Someone needs to do something about this company! All they're doing is scamming us! Pay attention people

Santander Consumer USA harassment

Santander has been harassing us by phone for several months trying to collect a debt owed by our son, who does not live with us. It is in regard to a motor vehicle, an avalanche, which our son, edgar e. Smith ii, no longer owns. We are senior citizens and our credit rating is excellent. We have told them that our son does not live with us and we are not responsible for any of his debts. But not only do they harass us by phone on a daily basis, but they come during the night to post warning notices on other cars owned by ourselves and our daughter. We have asked them to stop, but they insist they will keep on calling until they get their money.

Santander Consumer USA copy of contract once taken over from drive financial

I have sent in several registered letters, overnight requiring signatures requesting copies of my loan agreement that I originally made with drive financial and every time I call they say we will get that out to you today... It has never come!

I one year later still do not have a copy of my financial agreement originally entered into with drive financial!

They both suck and I am seeking an attorney because I do believe that they have their own terms and dinterest rate attached and that is not what I signed! They bought the debt and can't prove it to me that I have a loan with them and the terms... Well then I suppose that I don't owe them any money because they can't provided a written agreement with the terms!

They suck!

Hi
I actually asked them the same thing and to fax them to me and that was over a week ago. Something just doesn't seem right with this company. What someone told me was to make sure that the contract they have is the same as the contract you have. My payments were suppose to be $509 per month and when I got my first statement it was $709 a month.

I, also was with Triad, but since this company took over, I don't expect to see my title to my car, as it was paid off in March 2010, and they are trying to get more money out of me, stating" I only paid one half of a payment, which is a lie, as I had the account on Auto Pay.
Hope these people have to cough up misused fund.

Santander Consumer USA everything

This company is horrible. We originally had our car loan through drive finical, in april 09 we filed bankruptcy (I know not our finest moment) and at that time (when I went to make a payment online) I also learned that drive finical was bought out by santander, I also learned that because we filed bankruptcy that we could no longer log into our online account and we would no longer receive a payment coupon (still haven't figured that one out.
During the bankruptcy process there is a form that both the car loan company, ourselves, and our attorney signs that says we still want the car. Every time my attorney would send this form off to santander we would get no response from them, our attorney sent a total of 5 and none were answered.
One saturday in august I was packing up to head out of state to see my grandma, who was in the hospital and not doing well, when their was a knock at the door from a repo man... What? Of course santander was closed already so I couldn't talk to them, I talked the repo man into letting me keep my car till I could talk to this company, I had never been late, so I couldn't understand why they were taking my car. Finally on monday morning I was able to speak with a supervisor and she informed me that we never signed a form with our bankruptcy that said we wanted to keep the car... Really are you kidding me? My attorney sent it 5 times santander never signed it. She told me to have my attorney send it again (and let me tell you in all the times he sent it out it cost us an extra 100 per time so here we are up to 600) and that I would need to western union them 500 to let them know that I was serious. Done call my attorney, find the closest western union company... Everything was done that day!
Well, that following thursday night here is another repo man knocking at our door, this time the car is already hooked up. I try to call and of course they are closed. To make this long story short they made an mistake that cost us more money to drive almost 2 hours to pick up our car.
Now here we are in feb 2010 and it just happened again this morning. At 6am we had the repo man knocking on our door to see if we wanted to get the car seats out. And of course santander doesn't open till 8 my husband works at 12 where we have to pick up the car is 2 hours away and I need it tomorrow to travel out of state for work.
This company has been nothing but a headache. It is time to change companies.

Consistently charging too much interest, when they are notified they sometimes correct it, then do it again and again. They take the loan amount, (say $12, 000.00) figure the interest on the loan (say it brings it to $14, 500.00) then they charge you 14% on that amount until it is paid off-They are charging interest twice! (the amounts are for show only-not actual amounts) They are the most corrupt company I have ever done business with -they bought Road Loans which is where our loan was first. It has been nothing but a huge headache trying to stay on top of them. I need to know where to file a formal complaint!

In 2012 car loan purchased by Santander. Company failed to send notice and payment coupon to us. Every month coupons are late being sent to us or none are sent. Jwhen contacted, the representative told us we should pay online . The fee is way too high. Told rep I pay most bills on line and companies make no charge. Also rep claims Santander has a contractor that sends out payment coupons. So they have no control over when payments are sent. They try to get bank acct number an want to do automatic deductions. Do not believe company is reputable.

First, my original loan was NOT with this company. I had autopay with CitiFinancial--the company I did use to finance my vehicle--and so was somewhat surprised when I received an email informing me that Santander had taken a payment in the amount of my monthly loan payment from my checking account. I was surprised because I had no clue my account had been sold. I did a little research and found that CitiFinancial was no longer servicing their customers. I was angry at the lack of communication from either company involved, but didn't make a formal complaint because the latter company was taking only the amount of my normal loan payments. I deeply regret being so complacent now.

I recently refinanced my car through my credit union at a much lower rate. I took all the steps I was told to take by Santander's customer service rep, up to and including making an online request and fax request that the autopay deductions stop as Santander no longer had a lien on my vehicle. Unfortunately, and now I see after reading this complaint board, unsurprisingly, they still took the full amount of my payment 22 days after they received the check from my credit union. I tried my very best to be businesslike and non-combative. This got my NOWHERE. Upon calling and describing the problem to another CSR, I was asked to fax a printout of my bank statement to them. I did so immediately. I was told the problem would be resolved in 72 hours. I waited 7 working days before calling back after I still had not received the returned funds. That was when I was told that the second CSR I'd spoken to had made a mistake; according to the THIRD CSR, it took 72 hours for the accounting department to receive and review the request for a return of the funds they had no right to--but it could take up to 45 days for them to actually return them.

I'm sorry. WHAT?!?! Can I start charging you interest and penalties, Santander, as you most certainly would do if I were 45 days late on a payment?

I'm a pretty easygoing person in most cases. I'm a middle school teacher; patience is a required virtue. However, after repeatedly speaking to yet more CSRs, I have reached the limit of patience and good Southern upbringing. I've explained ad nauseum that I need to make a car payment to the company that actually does currently hold my loan and have received nothing but sarcasm, snark, and discourteous language from the legion of CSRs I've had the pleasure (sarcasm and snark of my own) of dealing with.

I highly suggest the people who write the phone script for these people remove the "How may I offer you excellent service" spiel from their greeting before someone injures themselves laughing at the incongruity of this statement and the actuality of dealing with Santander.

Also, and just to add a bit more insanity to the situation, my most recent CSR pal told me that if I filed a complaint it would reset the magic 45 day countdown to getting my money.

Rock. Me. Hard Place.

I originally had my loan with HSBC Auto, I have the original loans papers and then I received a letter that Santander was taken over, I have had nightmare after nightmare. My loan with HSBC auto states that my loan will be paid off November 21, 2012. Here it is October 19, 2012 and Santander states I owe the loan $12, 000.00 more dollars. I have requested over 10 times that I want the documents and statements of all these charges, they reply they will mail out to me. I have never got them. I have asked over and over I want an itemize statement of all charges, to this day I have not received any documents. They stated to me that I extended my loan with HSBC before they bought the loan. AGAIN I said where is the documents, nothing... I have not extended any loans, I DO NOT OWE $12, 000.00 more dollars, they repo my truck.! Really... So I try to get my truck back, paid 1, 500.00 to santander for the repo, plus $435.00 was added on to the loan for repo fees, plus had to pay towing $235 at the tow yard, they wouldn't give me my truck, then the tow company charged me $235.00 plus I had a jacket in my truck, so they charged me $75.00 more for personal belonging storage. Is there anything we can do? Is there a lawsuit we can join and stop this madness? PLEASE, We the people are begging for some answers and justice.

Sovereign Bank (straightforward, good) became part of Santander. My Sovereign loan is paid in full, I have documents from Santander saying paid in full, but they still try to collect monthly. The 800 number cannot look up payoff information (many tried for me). The branch was cut off from the old computer system without being given access to the new, so they can only call the 800 number. There is no effective way to contact anyone about anything - not only that, but payments are split into interest and principle before being posted, and the 800# CSRs do not have to help you if you cannot give the amount of your last payment (and of course, your total payment does not equal either of the partials that they post). Only one positive aspect - CSRs 800 and branch are all really nice and want to help, but their set-up prevents that.

I recently changed my bank to Santander. I changed because my other bank were too fond of making exorbitant charges for me slightly exceeding my overdraft limit – and not on a regular basis either!
As we all know the charges the banks make for exceeding overdraft limits are out of all proportion to what it actually costs the banks to administer.
I was promised by Santander that they would take care of all my existing direct debits set up on my old account. I was very surprised and upset to find that they had not set up all the direct debit payments as they promised.
Their incompetence has cost me money as I have incurred late payment charges as a result. Santander have refused to compensate me for these late payment charges I received. Do not open an account with this bank as they are rubbish!

I paid off my car loan back in February and still today they have not released the lein they have on my title to my car. They are saying today August 16, 2012 that I have to now pay to have it released?

I paid my debt in full I think that it’s there responsibility to provide me with the documentation showing the title has been released.

this company is currently under investigation for so many violations that its not even funny. they are being investigated and cited by the state of md for repossessing cars with one payment left. if we hold on i am sure they will be history before we know it, they treat their customers bad because they are tryign to assist in rebuilding credit and they somehow think they have the upper hand but when they are all out of a job we will see who has the last laugh!

Got a Nissan Sentra, make my payments on time, should be paid by 11/2011, santander took over my account, now my payments end on 11/2012, payments still $457 a month, have had problems every month, they reject my bank statements, saying its not proof of payment, have now been reported twice to the credit companies, no help from the "Customer Service", made online payments thinking the problems would stop, had been making payments from western union, got late fees charged, tried mail, they said they arrived late, there feels like nothing I can do to get this over and done with, according to them I still owe almost $9000, the car is worth less than $5000 now, appears to be never ending with these people, and of course no one knows what is going on over there!
