warning! warning! warning! This condominium project is defunct.
San Miguel Oasis tried to sell us a condo about a year ago in a building that was to be completed three months ago, we put a deposit down for the building hasn't even started construction. they have fake pictures on their website showing the whole project complete when in fact there is only one out of 8 buildings complete and a second building has been in the concrete stage from more than a year. the builder is still trying to sell condos in a bankrupt project that he no longer owns. this guy is unbelievable. we traded several emails with ric mccoy the builder over the past year, he is rude and has been feeding us a bunch of outright lies about progress, trying to make us a better deal and get us to wire him large sums of money. we have friends and dive shop on the island that kept us updated. at times we doubted our friends because he was so convincing. be careful with this guy, he is very slick and knows how to twist things, like the contract he tried to get us to sign through email, which is totally fraudulent, and also tried to get us to use his own lawyer, which we discovered he is also a crook. this guy should be hung for international fraud, unfortunately there is no good protection for such things. he brings you into his turf and you'll get hung up in mexican courts. luckily we decided to wait, we just came back from the island, everything with the project looks exactly the same like it was a year ago, we got to see the lies he told us with our own eyes. our friends gave us a copy of the local paper with an article about him selling the same unit to two different buyers, people lost money in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. the people that are involved are lawyers, and this guy managed to swindle them. there are criminal charges filed but very messy, the builder has no money to pay anybody.

Mr. "Baumgardner, "

Wow! Which unit did you put a deposit on? That's amazing because I did some investigating and there is no record of your ever having visited Oasis, much less having put a deposit on a unit. Your sob story sounds nice; too bad it is a complete fabrication, Albert.

You're right. Unfortunately there is no protection from psychopaths with insane personal vendettas who spend their time creating phony user accounts and blogs to slander the reputation of an innocent man.

Please evaporate back into the thin air from which you came.

Ok. Thank you for posting Mr. Baumgardner. However, I would like to clarify a few discrepancies about your post as to not confuse people who are looking for clear, concise information about the project and what has and is taking place here. Also, I am still not clear who you are. Did you make a deposit on one of the units in the second building? I know that you are not an owner or investor in the first building, so please, if you are going to post, please be very specific on what it is you have lost. Some of us, with SERIOUS money invested in the first building would like to know who you are and just what it is you have lost with this project. Sorry, but your post confuses me. I am not trying to be adversarial here and understand your need to speak out, but you need to get the facts a little straighter as to not confuse people.

A few Important points about your post:

First of all: the pictures on their web site are clearly artists renderings of what the proposed project is supposed to look like when it is completed. It is completely obvious that they are computer generated. We are also builders back in the sates and this is done all the time when a project is new. If you look at the actual construction photos that are posted, it is quite clear.

Secondly: Ric McCoy did NOT sell a unit in San Miguel Oasis twice. That is false. There is another community that was built approx. 4 years ago called Costa del Sol. The investors (a lawyer and a real estate professional) purchased a home there. (I do understand that it was not quite paid for in full.) After damage from hurricane Wilma, the owners went to Mr. McCoy and asked him to repair the damages. mr. McCoy and the owners disagreed on who should pay for the damages and they took him to court. During the next 3 years, while it was in litigation (the owners won all 3 times it was appealed) Mr. McCoy sold their property to another buyer. They are now pressing criminal charges...but it is important that you understand that they are two very separate entities. A separate development and community with separate land owners.

if you are going to post fact...please make sure it is coming from the "source". If it did not happen to you or you did not speak to the person who was affected directly, it does little good to repeat what you hear from your friends on the island and second hand. Trust me. Every single detail I have learned has been DIRECTLY from the source and that will allow me to make my legal decisions about my investment here. Trying to make sure people are informed is noble and appreciated but you can not do it with speculation, second-hand information and getting your facts scrambled. PLEASE. We all have a LOT at stake here. Thank you and I hope we get to meet some day. I wish you well.
