In January, I noticed that the refrigerator was not making ice, and the unit was warmer than usual. I stopped in to talk to the Sears Sales people and they connected me with a Service Center. I explained my problem to them, and they scheduled a technician on Feb. 19th to the house. He found that the refrigerator had iced up and the flapper was not working. The Ice Case Assembly part was ordered, and another technician just completed the work today, Mar. 9th The refrigerator is back working, cold and making ice.
The total cost of the work was $378.67 because the small spring in the Ice Case Assembly was broken. The spring appears to be made of Stainless Steel, with a spoke that hooks behind the flapper. The estimated cost of the spring is less then $10.00 Dollars. I was told that they don't replace the spring, but only the whole ice case assembly. I'm sure this could be designed with a heaver spring with a leaver.
