Safeway terrible checkout speed/backup cashiers helping the last customer in line, instead of next customer in line

I frequently shop at the safeway at 7601 evergreen way, everett, wa 98203. I am frustrated with the checkout speed at the refisters and also backup cashiers helping the last customer in line, instead of the next customer in line. The cashiers are very friendly, but almost too personable. There seems to be too much gabbing vs. Ringing. It's bad enough there is no self checkout, but cashiers seem to be distracted with conversation as well. There is always a line, at any given time, even at 11am on a freaking tuesday! Maybe having more registers open might possibly be more feasible. The other issue, that absolutely bothers me, the most, and makes me so, so frustrated, is when i've been waiting in line for 10 minutes, then, the backup cashier that magically appears, to help with the overflow, quietly grabs the very last person in line, who has been only waiting, in line, a fraction of the time I have. Why wouldn't you help the next person in line, why not help the person who has been waiting the longest. This has happped multiple times at this specific safeway. Please feel my frustration when I have to regularly plan for a 15 minute checkout time at this safeway, even for 1 item, and I still end up running late to my next destination. Shouldn't it take less than 10 to 15 mins to purchase 1 coffee creamer? All this is what I experience every time I shop at this safeway. Worst grocery shopping experience consistently.

Safeway unethical behaviors performed by cashiers

Date of Incident: Tuesday, April 04/03/2018 Safeway Location: Rossyln, Arlington, VA Store Manager: Kevin Collins Complaint submitted by Anthony C. Biggs (202)251-2482 email: [protected]@yahoo.com client number 7642 Description of Incident: On Tuesday April 03, 2018, 0430 in the afternoon I went into the Safeway location in Rosslyn Arlington VA to pick up a few things before going to work. When I went to the front-end cashiers area to pay for my purchases, none of the cashiers would wait on me! they allowed other customers in their but refused to wait upon me. The cashiers went so far as to curtly point to one cashier by the name of Ye[censored]a Desta who did wait upon me. I could not understand why they would show such narrow minded bigoted behavior towards me simply because of my appearance! all I wanted to do was conduct my transaction and go on to work. In my job as a security officer, outstanding customer service is important not to mention great client relations(which was denied me yesterday afternoon) The resolution I desire is a formal apology if possible from the cashiers who were involved in the incident and perhaps they undergo sensitivity training for dealing with customers in accordance to age, race, color, sex, sexual preference, sexual orientation and other factors. this is a complain about one of your employees at safeway store in hoodriver oregon, his man's names are JUAN CARLOS LINARES, he lives in Hood RIVER, Oregon ...he is wanted in association of church funds that is in his custody. He made away with the theft as soon as the envelope containing some church's funds was given to him by one Shirley to deliver to a senior church member. We hope the wrath of God comes upon him soon and he is caught. He might be seen around the dalles area, he last worked as a store manager at Safeway. He is considered to be dangerous as he is always under the influence of hard drugs. Please report to the nearest police station or message me. He is a serial thief and safeway is about to get sued real bad... if you would like to appeal to him so he can return the money he stole, his c e l l number is [protected] . God bless you as you do so.

Safeway deli department

To Whom it may concern:

I was at the Sonora California Deli department waiting to be help and the lady came out and did not say anything to me but looked over at one of the girls that worked there and ask if she needed any help, I waited there for 20mins to be help without any service, and I use to shop there all the time, now I will be shopping elsewhere. My time now is 1:12 so it was about 30 min ago.

Safeway safeway signature bonus gilnest chicken thighs

Today is August 29th I went into the Safeway store number1519 Proceeding to buy some of their signature boneless skinless thighs out of the meat case when up paid for my groceries got home started to prepare dinner for my son and my grand kids and notice that the fresh chicken thighs had a sell by date of 3/7/2018 and today day is 3/29/2018 I can't even tell you how disappointed and upset I was that I was about to feed this to my family and my grandson's it could a potentially made everybody in my house become sick this is unacceptable I shop there all the time but don't know if I will be shopping your meat department anymore to have an expired date that's a fresh product and chicken out in your meat case is really unacceptable I tried several times to call the store back with no answering of the phone My name is Jerry Barker I sincerely hope that you guys take this comment seriously. Safeway kozyshack tapioca pudding

I bought Kozyshack Orginal Recipe Tapioca Pudding last week (3rd week of March, 2018). I've been feeling awful with symptoms like stomach flu/food poisoning since last 3 days. I had this pudding twice on different days. Today I checked the date on it and it is Best Before: 19 Jan 18.
This is extremely hazardous for the health of Safeway customers.

Safeway sandwich

So today I went and ordered a hot turkey, & provolone sandwhich and was completely blown away due to the fact they only put 2 slices of turkey on it!
The lady said this is normal but it SO is not. I don't know when this happened but $8 for a sandwhich with 2 pieces of meat is ridiculous!. Please tell me this is a mistake?.
I was in a hurry but I will never get another sandwhich again here if 2 pieces of meat is he new norm for safeway sandwhich.
Please I would like you guys to do something about this. I am not even at a deli or eating out which those sandwhiches have more meat and are usually close to the same price. Also I thought drink was included in meal but it was an extra $99 cents so $9 for a a meal to go, & no meat on it just really upsets me .

Safeway soft drinks

I went to the Safeway gas station located at 40 Shining Willow Way in La Plata, MD 20646 to get a cherry coke before returning to work at Charles Co. Circuit Court. I paid for my drink and took a few sips while returning to my car. I went back to the courthouse parking lot and parked my car and took another sip. I felt something on my tongue so I immediately pulled it out of my mouth and took a picture (attached below). I took the lid off of the cup and noticed that there was more black stuff on the inside of the lid. I'm not sure if this is residue from the machine but it's obvious that they need to clean the fountain drink machine before anyone else has this experience. Safeway seafood/ meat department

This particular Safeway is located in Waldorf MD, zip code 20602. Around 1515-1520 I entered the store to purchase crab legs for my family who was not present at the time. There was no line, no one waiting or near the section but myself and another patron who already placed an order who told me to go ahead he has been helped. At this time I received a call from my wife to ask an amount in lbs of crab legs as I wasn't sure of how many family members were attending our home for dinner. The employee behind the seafood counter then addressed me as "main man I'm about to get off so if you want something tell me now because my shift is over" all the while I'm still on the phone not blocking any other costumers as there were none around waiting to view or purchase anything. I stated ok, well is there anyone else who can help me I'm still discussing with my family what is needed. His reply was "I don't know I just worry about me". Buying raw seafood above market value is not something anyone has to be rushed into doing. I told him ok 4 lbs of crab legs. He then replied "4 lbs"'I stated again "4 lbs" his reply was "is that it"? This was very rude and non professional in every manner. Nobody should be treated in such away when spending money on food. I understand I should have handled this complaint at the lowest possible level but this store in particular has a reputation of rudeness and employees having a sense of doing the costumer a "favor" when they should be simply doing the job they initially applied for on their own free will. Please take action on this. I even asked ok when does the seafood department close because at that time I felt rushed after my order. His reply was "I don't know man 730pm I think". Action is needed!

You're an [censor]. he reaffirmed the amount you stated, then asked if that was it, as in "is there anything else you need"? what would you have done if you arrived 5 minutes later and he was already gone? you'd be stuck waiting for someone then complain about there not being someone ready waiting for your high-class self. also, if you feel their seafood is overpriced, then go shop somewhere else. you're choosing to spend your money there, so you don't get to complain about that.

Safeway 21-year-old son attempting to purchase beer

At check out, my 21-year-old son brought beer to the counter and presented his driver's license, which revealed that he turned 21 years old 14 days earlier. In Arizona, one has 30 days before he/she needs to have a new driver's license indicating he/she has turned 21 years old. The cashier, Tenley, was very rude and told me that I could not purchase the beer because of my son's driver's license. A manager was called and had to explain to the cashier that my son didn't need to have a new driver's license until 30 days after his birthday. A long line formed during this entire episode, and my son was humiliated. I became angry, and the cashier continued to be rude and belittling to my son. I asked the cashier to apologize for her mistake, and the best she could do was say "I'm sorry you're upset." She could not bring herself to say "I'm so sorry for the scene I created and embarrassment I caused you and your son."

Safeway unprofessional behavior by cashier

Cashier named Elisa at Safeway on Rural in Tempe, Oz, was super rude and unprofessional. She rung me up I put in my debit card and pin number and all of a sudden she starts ringing up the customer next to me so I assumed she was done. She then yells at me informant of everyone super rude and claims that I didn't sign or put in my pin number when I clearly did. Then hands me a receipt, which is proof that I did put in my card info. So then proceeds to yell and say she doesn't know what happened. I walk off and check my receipt and was charged for extra things. So I come back and she continues to be rude and claim the same thing that I didn't put in my pin when the last 4 number of my debit card are clearly on the receipt. Please train new employees to not act defensive when they make a mistake! Never going back.

Safeway willits, ca 95490

The store is under staffed, the shelves are not kept loaded, products run out and are not replaced excpediciously. The Deli is understaffed, never enough food or service. The pharmacy service is too slow. The aisles are packed with products displays making it difficult to navigate. The checkout aisle is too narrow, requiring customers to line in cramped positions, not enough checkers.bwe will travel you Ukiah Safeway for overall better service and with more products available. We are older customers making this trip more difficult. Please make some positive and convenient changes. We are paying YOU our hard earned money for products and good service which we are Not receiving at Safeway in Willits, Ca 95490.

Safeway employee behavior

March 22, 2018, I visited the Safeway store #1257 in Livermore, 4495 First Street. While shopping in the produce department, I needed a bag. Under the bags was a display of cucumbers with an extended display onto the isle. I am just over 5' tall and 65 years old. It was hard for me to reach the bags, as it is so many times. The clerk, name unknown, asked if I found everything I needed and I said yes but I wanted to mention that it did not seem right that an extended display was under the bags. His response, go to the front and get a bag from the bottom of the display. I suggested instead, to not put the displays under the bags. He replied with, the district managers tell us what to do and they are all 6'2" and taller. I decided it was not worth discussing further. Upon check out, the clerk, Efrain Montalvo, bagged my groceries then left them on the counter for me to load while he checked out the next person. Seriously, I felt he could have placed them in the cart. He did not have anyone bagging for him and did not ask if I needed help. Where has the customer service gone? I have shopped at Safeway for over 45 years, spent lots of money there, and this is the way we are treated. As a child, my family shopped a Safeway too starting around 1950.

Safeway signature kitchens silly circles cereal

I bought a bag of silly circles signature kitchens cereal from you're Modesto McHenry Ave location I poured a bowl of cereal for myself and began eating it when I noticed an object in my mouth that felt like a rock I immediately spit it out it looked like a tooth off of some type of animal I threw up and chipped my tooth I had to go to the dentist I have no insurance to pay for a dentist This is BS. As it absorbed, the moisture from it began to changed its look from when I spit it out, as it began to thaw out, it looked like it was moving like some sugar coated maggots disgusting I am appalled I have never been so insulted in my life to buy a bag from an upscale store that is so expensive to get it a piece of crap bag of cereal was utter [censor]. The dentist charged me $700 .00 all over a bag of [censor] ceral. I Wil be in touch

Safeway bagels

I visited the Safeway on 25th st in Baltimore md on 03/21 around 6:00-6:30p. I went to pick up snacks. While shopping the bakery section, I decided the buy the sleeve of bagels and I prefer jalapeño cheese. During my last visit, the kind I liked wasn't bagged. I inquired with the associate and she was kind enough to assist me. On thus visit, two associates were conversing and the one had her back turned to the counter. I waited a minute and when I was acknowledged, I called out to the associated. Again, I inquired about prepackaged jalapeño cheese bagels. The associate who had her back turned replied what is out there is what we have. So I asked if one could be packaged and she responded we don't do that. I hesitated and just walked away but because there was no empathy shown and I really wanted the bagels, I didn't want anything and the other items in my cart I put back. The only thing I kept and did purchase was red velvet cake and frozen apple pie.

I get frustrated when the Starbucks closes early. Sign says they are open until 7P.M., two times in the last week I went in at 6:30 and the were closed. Federal Way, 320th Store

Safeway service

Longtime customer. I'm in at least once a day for 9 years. Always been fine. Now, every time I'm there, I listen to cashiers gossip/complain to baggers or each other, about management and problems working there, while I'm being checked out. It's uncomfortable. Unprofessional. And perhaps management needs to be better. I have noticed turnover. Please get it off the floor and in private, because as a customer I also feel ignored l, except for some will still scan items, asking for total as an afterthought. I'm not simply asking for employees to be chastised— I'm asking that someone look into the management issue as well, as it seems MANY employees are upset. Where there is smoke there's fire.

This is my first time writing corporate. That's how bad it is. I'm seriously contemplating going across the street to QFC from now on. I'll pay more, but won't be subjected to such unhappy employees who're making not just me, but most customers, uncomfortable every time we shop.

Store in question: Safeway at Jefferson Square, West Seattle Washington. 42nd ave sw 98116. I live across the street and it's had all of my grocery business. But perhaps no more.

No one cares that you've shopped at Safeway for 9 years. You're still just a person, worth the same value as everyone else. If you can't get over yourself and accept that people aren't going to clean up their act because you walk into a room, then go somewhere else.

Safeway customer complaint

This morning, March 29, 2018, as I was coming out of your Estes Park. CO Safeway store, a women coming into the store with her wet, hairy dog, picked him up and placed him into the shopping cart where I had just removed my food. The dog did not have service animal identification and was very small. This seems unsanitary to me and it is not the first time I have noticed customers riding their animals around in the food carts. If this is not a health issue it is certainly unappetizing when shopping for your food.

Safeway employment

My name is Marcus Bradford. I was so excited to get hired by Safeway in Alliance NE. After only one day the manager "Cindy" called me and said she wanted to make me Produce Manager. I do have 8 years management experience. I was disappointed but understood why she decided she was going to out me in a different department instead of the manager position. She told everyone but me that she changed her mind. After only my 4th day on the job we had a very large truck delivery that was 2 hours late. And I had to do it on my own. Still learning. We had a meeting and in front of the other employees she put me down and spoke to me as a child. While taking stock up front she stopped me by the registers and in front of customers and told me I was inefficient followed by making me feel incompetent. As she walked away a customer touched my back and said It's Ok. Another customer asked we are always treated that way. The next day I was scheduled for a job I had not yet trained for. Feeling overwhelmed I spoke with Leta. She said to just go on home and Cindy will call me the next day. It has been almost a week and no word, she won't see me, and won't return my calls.

Safeway customer service safeway 11201 georgia ave wheaton md

Sunday March 18, 2018 morning 1 checker on the 15 or less checking out a person with a basket full of groceries...10 people waiting in line at the self checkout with just a few items...3 of those stations not working...3 working...I had a full basket ...employee with long dreadlocks too busy on her phone to help anyone...when I finally got to the self check out they decided to open another register...so it took me forever to scan my basket ...this is not the first time this has happened...poor store management...slow and not properly trained employees...busy talking to another employee...not engaging customers...I am forever being asked by checkers what type of produce I have...If you work in a grocery store you should know what an acorn squash is...just on example of semi-literate, why are you bothering me employees...unfortunately I live so close it is convenient for my to shop there...but not any more.

Safeway dungeness crab

We purchased Dungeness crabs from the Safeway on East Ave in Chico, Ca. 95926 on March 16, 2018. They were advertised as fresh crabs. When the clerk pulled them out of the case two claws fell off. Half the other crabs had their shell cracked open. When we cooked them the meat was grey and had a strong ammonia odor to them that brought tears to my eyes. We brought them back to the store and told them of the conditions of these crab; they were not fresh as advertised. I told them there is no way you should sell these to your customers . Today I went back to Safeway and not only did they have the same crabs, they raised the price. I will never buy any seafood from Safeway again. Your buyer should have never purchased these crabs in that condition ... and should have never sold them to their customers. This is the second time this has happened to us at this Safeway location with the crab. We lodged a complaint with the store last year - and never expected to repeat that experience again. After cooking the crab and sitting down to have our meal ... we had to abort our dinner and re-bag the crab to return to the store. Not a good experience. Should not have to be repeated ... twice. Thank you.

Safeway pharmacy technician sandor

Dear Sir/Mam,

I am submitting this complaint as a result of pharmacy technician Sandor unwillingness to meet my needs as a consumer. I have had two encounters with Mr. Sandor and both times their has been a lack of customer service. My initial encounter was on March 8, 2017. I presented Mr. Sandor my prescription and health insurance card. He stated he was unable to verify my coverage and I should call the insurance company. I informed him I had previously filled prescriptions at this location and my insurance coverage hasn't changes or lapsed. He instructed me at approximately 6PM to call the insurance company and have them verify coverage. After shopping and thinking more about Mr. Sandor's suggestion. I wondered why he couldn't call the insurance company. I returned to the counter and requested he call the insurance company, to which he replied " I can if you would like me to". He was able to verify my insurance coverage after my request without a call to the insurance company. I stood at the counter and observed Mr. Sandor and I believe he was able to verify my insurance without the call. Fast forward March 15, 2018, 1PM. I present Mr. Sandor with two new prescriptions and he immediately responds "we may not have one of these in stock, I will check". At that time I request he fill the prescription which is available and I will wait. He looks at the prescriptions and tells me they are void as there are no number of refills listed on the prescriptions. He goes on to say he'll have to fax the physician and maybe they'll be ready tomorrow. Again, I'm wondering why he can't call my local physician? I would like to wait. I have shopping to do and also have blood tests in the lab adjacent to the pharmacy. I don't ask. I agree with what he says and asks him to call me once they're available. My physician is expedient and it would have taken two minutes to make the call and have the prescription available while I completed my other tasks at Safeway. I called the following day and spoke to pharmacy manager Chante and informed here of my interactions with Mr. Sandor and the lack of decorum exhibited. She did she the prescription was verified and the drug was available, but not filled. I have yet to received a call or the prescription 24 hours later. I believe Mr. Sandor in both visits wanted me to go away and he seemed overwhelmed and really didn't want to service me at all. And perhaps because I am African American he was dismissive. I am very upset by his lack of concern and efforts to delay the filling of my prescriptions. This is my local pharmacy and I chose it for convenience. Mr. Sandor had made it anything but convenient.
