Safe Home Security / Rude and difficult to end contract

I had the security system installed 8 years ago with a different company. Safe Home Security took over the contract. The equipment is old and noisy. We decided to have a new company install a new system. Safe Home Security said we can only discontinue our contract in July - when originally purchased and had to continue to pay monitoring service until July - even though it is December. They also said if we refused to continue to pay they would just ruin our credit. The customer service rep became very irate and tried to end the phone call before I could even get the email address and proper information to formally cancel the contract. Very poor service all around!!
