A warning to people contemplating the purchase of a Saab 9/7x: Beware of this Chevy masquerading as a Saab.
I traded my 2005 Saab 9/5 Aero in for a Saab 9/7x, Saab's new SUV model. While I know the car was made in Ohio, I was assured by the salesman, Mike Hollywood of Ellis-Brooks Chevrolet in San Francisco, that this model completely was redesigned in Sweden to Saab standards. Well, seven months and seven thousand miles later, my car has been in the shop nine times. It arrived with broken cup holders and things proceeded from bad to worse. The turn signals have broken, the thermometer has broken, the compass has broken, the fuel computer has broken and now the car is bucking severely and I will be taking it in to have that fixed. To make matters worse, so few of these dogs were made and there are no spare parts. I busted a tail light and had to wait three weeks for the part to come in. Every time something breaks, I have to wait for a wreak so parts can be salvaged. I've tried to get GM buy it back, but have been stonewalled. My friends warned me not to buy an American car and there were right. I'm now forced to file my first lawsuit to get this issue resolved. It's not a pretty picture.
There is a reason why this vehicle has been such a poor performer for General Motors: It's a lemon.

I bought mine used big mistake thought I was getting a deal, GM needs to recall this car before it kills someone my stablitrak is bad too NO ONE IN THE STATE OF PA WILL EVEN TOUCH IT. So I have to drive with a car that shakes like its gonna fall apart
I have to agree this suv leaves a bad taste of GM and Saab. High oil consumption, fixed twice, never stays fixed. Stabilitrak works for a few months then needs service again. They should just recall the lot of the 9-7’s. I asked the dealer to replace the engine or buy back the car. No luck. I think it’s more the dealer, GM and Saab that are out of luck since they will just lose more customers.
Russell you are nuts. I own one of these lemons also. I have had 2 transmisions in 2 years, the first being after 6 months and it is a manuel car. I purchase new tires every six months to make that stabilitrak or whatever work properly not to lunge the car, my head lights go off at night when driving, you have to pull over turn the car off and restart, guess I should of read the book on how to take care of that. Whatever, new heater, new all wheel drive motor, and on and on. Under 2 years old and over 60 days in the shop so far. They know me by name, and only certain places can fix this and there are no spare parts so for the working world we must also rent cars for the time, or hope saab gets the bill. So please don't tell anyone your story of if you went to a doctor you would listen to him, life can't be replaced although cars normally are every few years, that is is a brand new saab can make it 3 years, not looking like it though. So go drive your dodge neon home at night and no more comments even remotely defending saab or Thompson Motors in Springfield where I purchased this crap at.
its not a lemmon. a lemmon is when a technician/technicians cannot repair the concern and have tried several attempts to repair the vehicle and cannot figure out a solution after contacting gm technical assistance. vehicle's are not perfect. some will have more problems than other and you just might have got bad luck. all cars have problems, cadillacs! i know, i work for saab and cadillac! another importanct factor is that most owners fail to read thier owners manual and or abuse thier vehicle's equipment! lack of maint is another mmajor overlooked factor when it comes to failed parts! think of it as you and your doctor. if your doctor tells you, you need a routine check-up im sure you would follow his/her orders? i know i would.
